²⁶ Ought not the Messiah to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?

⁷ saying, That the Son of man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

⁴⁴ And said unto them, These are the sayings which I spake unto you, when I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning me.

⁴⁶ and said to them, That thus it is written, and thus must the Messiah suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day

³ opening them clearly, and laying it evidently down that the Messiah must suffer, and rise again from the dead; and that this man is the Messiah, even Jesus, whom I preach unto you.

³ For I delivered to you among the first things that which I also had received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; ⁴ and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

⁸ thou hast subjected all things under his feet." Now in subjecting all things to him, he left nothing unsubjected to him; but at present we see not yet all things subjected to him. ⁹ But we see Jesus for a little while made lower than angels, by the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour, that, by the grace of God, he might taste of death for every one. ¹⁰ For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to perfect the Author of their salvation by sufferings.

²² And almost all things are purified by blood according to the law, and without effusion of blood there is no remission of sin. ²³ There was a necessity therefore that the representations of the things in heaven should be purified by these; but the celestial things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
