¹⁵ His affection for you is even greater as he remembers how obedient all of you were and how you welcomed him with fear and trembling.

³⁰ At this, Joseph hurried out, deeply moved because of his brother, and looked for a place to weep by himself. He entered his personal quarters, wept there awhile,

²⁶ The woman whose child was still alive cried out to the king, because her heart yearned for her son. “Oh no, your majesty!” she said. “Give her the living child. Please don’t kill him.”
But the other woman said, “Cut him in half! That way, he’ll belong to neither one of us.”

⁴ Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel gathered together as a group because of the sin committed by those who had been led astray. As for me, I remained seated, in shock, until the evening sacrifice.

⁹ Less than three days later, all of the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered together on the twentieth day of the ninth month. Everyone sat in the plaza of the Temple of God, trembling because of everything that was happening, and also because it was raining heavily.

⁶ When I think about this, I’m petrified with terror and my body shudders uncontrollably.”

¹¹ Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

¹¹ See what great earnestness godly sorrow has produced in you! How ready you are to clear yourselves, how indignant, how alarmed, how full of longing and enthusiasm, how eager to seek justice! In every way you have demonstrated that you are innocent in this matter.

⁵ and every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive in order to obey the Messiah. ⁶ Once your obedience is complete, we will be ready to reprimand every type of disobedience.

⁵ Advice for Slaves and MastersSlaves, obey your earthly masters with fear, trembling, and sincerity, as when you obey the Messiah.

⁸ For God is my witness how much I long for all of you with the compassion that the Messiah Jesus provides.

¹² Blameless LivingAnd so, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only when I was with you but even more now that I am absent, continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

¹² Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

¹⁴ If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of him. Have nothing to do with him so that he will feel ashamed.

¹⁷ Whoever has earthly possessions and notices a brother in need and yet withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God be present in him?
