³⁹ The descendants of Manasseh’s son Machir attacked Gilead and then captured and dispossessed the Amorites who were there. ⁴⁰ That’s why Moses gave Gilead to Manasseh’s son Machir, who lived there at the time. ⁴¹ Manasseh’s son Jair captured their towns and renamed them Havvoth-jair.

¹³ The remainder of Gilead and Bashan of the kingdom of Og, I’ve given to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
