²⁰ Thus saith the LORD: If ye can break My covenant with the day, and My covenant with the night, so that there should not be day and night in their season; ²¹ Then may also My covenant be broken with David My servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, My ministers. ²² As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the seed of David My servant, and the Levites that minister unto Me. ²³ And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying: ²⁴ 'Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying: The two families which the LORD did choose, He hath cast them off? and they contemn My people, that they should be no more a nation before them. ²⁵ Thus saith the LORD: If My covenant be not with day and night, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; ²⁶ then will I also cast away the seed of Jacob, and of David My servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; for I will cause their captivity to return, and will have compassion on them.'

⁶ Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

¹⁰ As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans that may come unto us; but ye, gather ye wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.'

²⁷ And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.

¹³ and he took of the seed royal, and made a covenant with him, and brought him under an oath, and the mighty of the land he took away; ¹⁴ that his might be a lowly kingdom, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand. ¹⁵ But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape? ¹⁶ As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

¹⁸ And I said unto their children in the wilderness: Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols; ¹⁹ I am the LORD your God; walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them;

⁴ So will I send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad;

¹ But in the end of days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established as the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall flow unto it. ² And many nations shall go and say: 'Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths'; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

² 'The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers. ³ Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Return unto Me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. ⁴ Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Return ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings; but they did not hear, nor attend unto Me, saith the LORD. ⁵ Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever? ⁶ But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? so that they turned and said: Like as the LORD of hosts purposed to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath He dealt with us.'

³ And it shall come to pass that, when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begot him shall say unto him: 'Thou shalt not live, for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD'; and his father and his mother that begot him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

⁷ and Solomon begat Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begat Abijah, and Abijah begat Asa, ⁸ and Asa begat Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begat Joram, and Joram begat Uzziah,

⁸ and Asa begat Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begat Joram, and Joram begat Uzziah,

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

⁴⁶ Now while he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him. ⁴⁷ And one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, seeking to speak to thee. ⁴⁸ But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? ⁴⁹ And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren! ⁵⁰ For whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.

¹⁸ And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

⁶⁹ And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David ⁷⁰ (As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old), ⁷¹ Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us, ⁷² To show mercy towards, our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant, ⁷³ The oath which he spake unto Abraham our father, ⁷⁴ To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him all our days. ⁷⁶ Yea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High; For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways, ⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins, ⁷⁸ Because of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, ⁷⁹ To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.

³² A light for revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of thy people Israel.

¹² Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where was a garden, into which he entered, himself and his disciples.

²² And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, to whom also he bare witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who shall do all My will.

³⁶ For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

²⁶ For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions; for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: ²⁷ and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.

³¹ without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

⁸ and why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.

²⁸ As touching the gospel, they are enemies for your sake; but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sake.

¹⁵ For if because of meat thy brother is grieved, thou walkest no longer in love. Destroy not with thy meat him for whom Christ died.

¹⁰ For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? ¹¹ For through thy knowledge the brother that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died. ¹² And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ. ¹³ Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.

¹⁶ Wherefore we henceforth know no man after the flesh; even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.

⁵ to whom we gave place in the way of subjection, no, not for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. ⁶ But from those who were reputed to be somewhat (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me; God accepteth not man's person)—they, I say, who were of repute imparted nothing to me:

¹⁴ But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as do the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

¹⁸ knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers,

⁷ Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, having in like manner with these given themselves over to fornication and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.

¹⁶ I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright, the morning star.
