²⁰ Then said Absalom to Ahithophel: 'Give your counsel what we shall do.'

¹⁰ come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there befalleth us any war, they also join themselves unto our enemies, and fight against us, and get them up out of the land.'

² The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed:

¹² The wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth at him with his teeth. ¹³ The Lord doth laugh at him; for He seeth that his day is coming.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

¹⁰ Take counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand; for God is with us.

¹⁵ Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say: 'Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?'

¹ Now when morning was come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

²³ And being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said unto them. ²⁴ And they, when they heard it, lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, O Master, thou art the God that didst make the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is: ²⁵ who by the mouth of thy servant David, didst say, Why did the Gentiles rage, And the peoples imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth set themselves in array, And the rulers were gathered together, Against the Lord, and against his Anointed: ²⁷ for of a truth against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ to do whatsoever thy hand and thy council foreordained to come to pass.
