¹ The words OF the Koheleth, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

⁴² And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years. ⁴³ And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

³⁰ And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

¹⁷ But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them. ¹⁸ Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the levy; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, so that he died. And king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. ¹⁹ So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

⁷ And thou hast also appointed prophets to proclaim of thee at Jerusalem, saying: There is a king in Judah; and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.'

⁹ (40:10) I have preached righteousness in the great congregation, lo, I did not refrain my lips; O LORD, Thou knowest.

¹² I Koheleth have been king over Israel in Jerusalem.

²⁷ Behold, this have I found, saith Koheleth, adding one thing to another, to find out the account;

⁸ Vanity of vanities, saith Koheleth; all is vanity. ⁹ And besides that Koheleth was wise, he also taught the people knowledge; yea, he pondered, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. ¹⁰ Koheleth sought to find out words of delight, and that which was written uprightly, even words of truth.

¹ The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to bring good tidings unto the humble; He hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the eyes to them that are bound;

² 'Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and make unto it the proclamation that I bid thee.'

⁵ and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly,
