⁴ (5:3) When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for He hath no pleasure in fools; pay that which thou vowest.

²⁰ And Jacob vowed a vow, saying: 'If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

¹ And God said unto Jacob: 'Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there; and make there an altar unto God, who appeared unto thee when thou didst flee from the face of Esau thy brother.'

³ and let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.'

² (30:3) When a man voweth a vow unto the LORD, or sweareth an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

²¹ (23:22) When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not be slack to pay it; for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it will be sin in thee. ²² (23:23) But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee. ²³ (23:24) That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt observe and do; according as thou hast vowed freely unto the LORD thy God, even that which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

¹⁴ Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High;

¹³ I will come into Thy house with burnt-offerings, I will perform unto Thee my vows, ¹⁴ Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in distress.

¹¹ (76:12) Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God; let all that are round about Him bring presents unto Him that is to be feared;

¹⁴ My vows will I pay unto the LORD, yea, in the presence of all His people.

¹⁶ I beseech Thee, O LORD, for I am Thy servant; I am Thy servant, the son of Thy handmaid; Thou hast loosed my bands. ¹⁷ I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD. ¹⁸ I will pay my vows unto the LORD, yea, in the presence of all His people;

¹⁰⁶ I have sworn, and have confirmed it, to observe Thy righteous ordinances.

¹⁰ He delighteth not in the strength of the horse; He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man. ¹¹ The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that wait for His mercy.

²¹ And the LORD shall make Himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day; yea, they shall worship with sacrifice and offering, and shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and shall perform it.

⁹ (2:10) But I will sacrifice unto Thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is of the LORD.

¹⁰ Oh that there were even one among you that would shut the doors, that ye might not kindle fire on Mine altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

³³ Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths;
