⁴ And Joseph found favour in his sight, and he ministered unto him. And he appointed him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

² And Abram said: 'O Lord GOD, what wilt Thou give me, seeing I go hence childless, and he that shall be possessor of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?'

³ and said: 'My lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant.

¹⁹ behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shown unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest the evil overtake me, and I die.

² And Abraham said unto his servant, the elder of his house, that ruled over all that he had: 'Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh.

⁵ (32:6) And I have oxen, and asses and flocks, and men-servants and maid-servants; and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favour in thy sight.'

⁸ And he said: 'What meanest thou by all this camp which I met?' And he said: 'To find favour in the sight of my lord.'

²¹ But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed kindness unto him, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. ²² And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

⁴⁰ Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled; only in the throne will I be greater than thou.' ⁴¹ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph: 'See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.'

²² And Saul sent to Jesse, saying: 'Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.'

⁴ Then the king said unto me: 'For what dost thou make request?' So I prayed to the God of heaven. ⁵ And I said unto the king: 'If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.'

³⁵ The king's favour is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; but his wrath striketh him that dealeth shamefully.

⁷ When a man's ways please the LORD, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

² A servant that dealeth wisely shall have rule over a son that dealeth shamefully, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.

²⁹ Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

¹⁸ Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.

²⁸ Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord and God, which he purchased with his own blood.
