⁷ The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

³¹ And one told David, saying: 'Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.' And David said: 'O LORD, I pray Thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.'

¹⁴ And Absalom and all the men of Israel said: 'The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.' - For the LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

¹² He frustrateth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands can perform nothing substantial. ¹³ He taketh the wise in their own craftiness; and the counsel of the wily is carried headlong.

⁶ Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

²² In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; the hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.

⁶ It also shall be carried unto Assyria, for a present to King Contentious; Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
