¹⁷ 'Shall mortal man be just before God? Shall a man be pure before his Maker?

²⁵ That be far from Thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that so the righteous should be as the wicked; that be far from Thee; shall not the judge of all the earth do justly?'

³ Doth God pervert judgment? Or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

² Of a truth I know that it is so; and how can man be just with God?

³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean; ³¹ Yet wilt Thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

⁴ How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

² Thinkest thou this to be thy right, or sayest thou: 'I am righteousness before God',

¹⁰ But none saith: 'Where is God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night;

⁸ Wilt thou even make void My judgment? Wilt thou condemn Me, that thou mayest be justified?

² And enter not into judgment with Thy servant; for in Thy sight shall no man living be justified.

¹⁷ The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and gracious in all His works.

²⁰ For there is not a righteous man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

¹ Right wouldest Thou be, O LORD, were I to contend with Thee, yet will I reason with Thee: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? Wherefore are all they secure that deal very treacherously?

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceeding weak - who can know it?

²⁰ And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man. ²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, adulteries, fornications, murders, ²² thefts, covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness; ²³ all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man.

⁵ but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God,

⁴ God forbid; yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar, as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment. ⁵ But if our righteousness commendeth the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who visiteth with wrath? (I speak after the manner of men.) ⁶ God forbid; for then how shall God judge the world? ⁷ But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

²⁰ Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!

⁸ And the four living creatures, having each one six wings, are full of eyes round about and within; and they have no rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.
