¹ And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. ³ And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all; ⁴ for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts for God, but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had. ⁵ And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and offerings, he said, ⁶ As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. ⁷ And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass? ⁸ And he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray; for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he, and, The time is at hand; go ye not after them. ⁹ And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified; for these things must needs come to pass first, but the end is not immediately. ¹⁰ Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, ¹¹ and there shall be great earthquakes, and in diverse places famines and pestilences, and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven. ¹² But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake. ¹³ It shall turn out unto you for a testimony. ¹⁴ Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer; ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. ¹⁶ But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends, and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. ¹⁸ And not a hair of your head shall perish. ¹⁹ In your patience ye shall win your souls. ²⁰ But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand. ²¹ Then let them that are in Judea flee unto the mountains, and let them that are in the midst of her depart out, and let not them that are in the country enter therein. ²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. ²³ Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. ²⁵ And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows, ²⁶ men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. ²⁷ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. ²⁸ But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption draweth nigh. ²⁹ And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; ³⁰ when they now shoot forth, ye see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now nigh. ³¹ Even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh. ³² Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished. ³³ Heaven and earth shall pass away; but my words shall not pass away. ³⁴ But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare; ³⁵ for so shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth. ³⁶ But watch ye at every season, making supplication, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. ³⁷ And every day he was teaching in the temple, and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet. ³⁸ And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.

¹⁹ But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy unto the LORD; they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.'

²⁴ And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein; only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.

²⁶ and he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all; and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

¹³ And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.

¹⁸ And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.

¹³ And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah; and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.

⁶ And the chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.

¹¹ but ye say, If a man shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, Given to God, ¹² and ye no longer suffer him to do aught for his father or his mother, ¹³ making void the word of God by your tradition, which ye have delivered; and many such like things ye do.

⁴¹ And Jesus sat down over against the treasury, and beheld how the multitude cast money into the treasury; and many that were rich cast in much. ⁴² And there came a poor widow, and she cast in two mites, which make a farthing. ⁴³ And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than all they that have cast into the treasury; ⁴⁴ for they all did cast in of their superfluity, but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

²⁰ These words spake he in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; and no man took him, because his hour was not yet come.

²¹ And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and brought the LORD'S offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all the service thereof, and for the holy garments. ²² And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought nose-rings, and ear-rings, and signet- rings, and girdles, all jewels of gold; even every man that brought an offering of gold unto the LORD. ²³ And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red, and sealskins, brought them. ²⁴ Every one that did set apart an offering of silver and brass brought the LORD'S offering; and every man, with whom was found acacia-wood for any work of the service, brought it. ²⁵ And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, the blue, and the purple, the scarlet, and the fine linen. ²⁶ And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun the goats' hair. ²⁷ And the rulers brought the onyx stones, and the stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate; ²⁸ and the spice, and the oil, for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense. ²⁹ The children of Israel brought a freewill-offering unto the LORD; every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all the work, which the LORD had commanded by the hand of Moses to be made.

⁸ What she had, this woman hath done, she hath anointed my body beforehand for the burying. ⁹ Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever the gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

²⁵ But of a truth I say unto you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land,

²⁷ But I tell you of a truth, There are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

⁴⁴ Of a truth I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath.

²⁷ for of a truth against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together,

³⁴ And Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

² how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. ³ For according to their power, I bear witness, yea and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,

¹² For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according as a man hath, not according as he hath not.

⁶ But this I say, He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he that soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. ⁷ Let each man do according as he hath purposed in his heart; not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver.

⁴³ And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed of any,

¹² and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of thy substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

⁴⁴ And all that believed were together, and had all things common, ⁴⁵ and they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all, according as any man had need.

³⁴ For neither was there among them any that lacked; for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

¹ And Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way, and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. ² But Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. ³ And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? ⁴ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray. ⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall lead many astray. ⁶ And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, see that ye be not troubled; for all these things must needs come to pass, but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in diverse places. ⁸ But all these things are the beginning of travail. ⁹ Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you; and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray. ¹² And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold. ¹³ But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations, and then shall the end come. ¹⁵ When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand), ¹⁶ then let them that are in Judea flee unto the mountains; ¹⁷ let him that is on the housetop not come down to take out things that are in his house; ¹⁸ and let him that is in the field not return back to take his garments. ¹⁹ But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! ²⁰ And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a sabbath; ²¹ for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be. ²² And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. ²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here, believe it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you beforehand. ²⁶ If therefore they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the wilderness, go not forth; Behold, he is in the inner chambers, believe it not. ²⁷ For as the lightning cometh forth from the east, and is seen even unto the west, so shall also be the coming of the Son of man. ²⁸ For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. ²⁹ But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken; ³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. ³¹ And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. ³² Now from the fig tree learn her parable; when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh, ³³ even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors. ³⁴ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished. ³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. ³⁶ But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, but the Father only. ³⁷ And as were the days of Noah, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man. ³⁸ For as in the days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, ³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man. ⁴⁰ Then shall two men be in the field, one is taken, and one is left; ⁴¹ two women shall be grinding at the mill, one is taken, and one is left. ⁴² Watch therefore; for ye know not in what hour your Lord cometh. ⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through. ⁴⁴ Therefore be ye also ready, for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh. ⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath set over his household servants, to give them their food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. ⁴⁷ Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath. ⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth to come, ⁴⁹ and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, ⁵¹ and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

²⁰ The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?

⁷ then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for My name, will I cast out of My sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a by word among all peoples; ⁸ and this house which is so high shall become desolate, and every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and when they shall say: Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house? ⁹ they shall be answered: Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them; therefore hath the LORD brought all this evil upon them.'

²⁰ then will I pluck them up by the roots out of My land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for My name, will I cast out of My sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. ²¹ And this house, which is so high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall say: Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house? ²² And they shall answer: Because they forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them; therefore hath He brought all this evil upon them.'

¹⁰ (64:9) Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. ¹¹ (64:10) Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised Thee, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

¹¹ Is this house, whereupon My name is called, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, saith the LORD. ¹² For go ye now unto My place which was in Shiloh, where I caused My name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Israel. ¹³ And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spoke unto you, speaking betimes and often, but ye heard not, and I called you, but ye answered not; ¹⁴ therefore will I do unto the house, whereupon My name is called, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

⁶ then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.'

⁹ Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying: This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant?' And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

¹⁸ 'Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

⁶ And He hath stripped His tabernacle, as if it were a garden, He hath destroyed His place of assembly; the LORD hath caused to be forgotten in Zion appointed season and sabbath, and hath rejected in the indignation of His anger the king and the priest. ⁷ The Lord hath cast off His altar, He hath abhorred His sanctuary, He hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn assembly. ⁸ The LORD hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion; He hath stretched out the line, He hath not withdrawn His hand from destroying; but He hath made the rampart and wall to mourn, they languish together.

¹ How is the gold become dim! How is the most fine gold changed! The hallowed stones are poured out at the head of every street.

¹⁸ For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

²⁰ And as for the beauty of their ornament, which was set for a pride, they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things thereof; therefore have I made it unto them as an unclean thing. ²¹ And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane it. ²² I will also turn My face from them, and they shall profane My secret place; and robbers shall enter into it, and profane it.

²⁶ And after the threescore and two weeks shall an anointed one be cut off, and be no more; and the people of a prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; but his end shall be with a flood; and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and upon the wing of detestable things shall be that which causeth appalment; and that until the extermination wholly determined be poured out upon that which causeth appalment.'

¹² Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

¹ Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

² For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

² But Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

² And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left here one stone upon another, which shall not be thrown down.

⁴⁴ and shall dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee, and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another, because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. ⁴⁵ And he entered into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold, ⁴⁶ saying unto them, It is written, My house is a house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of robbers. ⁴⁷ And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him: ⁴⁸ and they could not find what they might do, for the people all hung upon him, listening.

¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ for we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered unto us.

⁶ And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river: 'How long shall it be to the end of the wonders?'

⁸ And I heard, but I understood not; then said I: 'O my Lord, what shall be the latter end of these things?'

²¹ Peter therefore seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? ²² Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.

⁶ They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? ⁷ And he said unto them, It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within His own authority.

⁸ For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets that are in the midst of you, and your diviners, beguile you, neither hearken ye to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

² and saying, Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

¹⁷ From that time began Jesus to preach, and to say, Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

⁴ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray. ⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall lead many astray.

¹¹ And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray.

²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here, believe it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you beforehand.

⁵ And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed that no man lead you astray. ⁶ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am he, and shall lead many astray.

²¹ Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Lo, there, believe it not; ²² for there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, even the elect. ²³ But take ye heed; behold, I have told you all things beforehand.

²³ { And they shall say to you, Lo, here! or, Lo, there! go not away, nor follow after them;

⁴³ I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not; if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

²⁴ I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins; for except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

³⁶ For before these days rose up Theudas, giving himself out to be somebody, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves; who was slain, and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed, and came to nought. ³⁷ After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the enrolment, and drew away some of the people after him; he also perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.

⁹ But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who beforetime in the city used sorcery, and amazed the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: ¹⁰ to whom they gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no marvel, for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵ It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

⁶ Let no man deceive you with empty words; for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience.

³ let no man beguile you in any wise; for it will not be, except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

⁹ even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish, because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie:

¹³ But evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

⁷ For many deceivers are entered into the world, even they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

³ Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written therein; for the time is at hand.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. ³ Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise up against me, even then will I be confident.

⁷ He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is stedfast, trusting in the LORD.

²⁵ Be not afraid of sudden terror, neither of the destruction of the wicked, when it cometh; ²⁶ For the LORD will be thy confidence, and will keep thy foot from being caught.

¹² 'Say ye not: A conspiracy, concerning all whereof this people do say: A conspiracy; neither fear ye their fear, nor account it dreadful.

¹² I, even I, am He that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass; ¹³ And hast forgotten the LORD thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fearest continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, as he maketh ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

¹⁹ My bowels, my bowels! I writhe in pain! The chambers of my heart! My heart moaneth within me! I cannot hold my peace! because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the horn, the alarm of war. ²⁰ Destruction followeth upon destruction, for the whole land is spoiled; suddenly are my tents spoiled, my curtains in a moment.

⁶ And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, see that ye be not troubled; for all these things must needs come to pass, but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in diverse places. ⁸ But all these things are the beginning of travail.

⁷ And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be not troubled; for these things must needs come to pass, but the end is not yet. ⁸ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in diverse places, and there shall be famines and troubles; these things are the beginning of travail.

⁸ And he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray; for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he, and, The time is at hand; go ye not after them.

¹⁸ And not a hair of your head shall perish. ¹⁹ In your patience ye shall win your souls.

²⁸ But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption draweth nigh.

⁵ And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great discomfitures were upon all the inhabitants of the lands. ⁶ And they were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God did discomfit them with all manner of adversity.

² And I will spur Egypt against Egypt; and they shall fight every one against his brother, and everyone against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

²¹ 'Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying: I will shake the heavens and the earth; ²² and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

² For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. ³ Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fighteth in the day of battle.

¹³ And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.

⁸ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in diverse places, and there shall be famines and troubles; these things are the beginning of travail.

¹⁹ And I will show wonders in the heaven above, And signs on the earth beneath, Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: ²⁰ The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable day.

²⁸ And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be a great famine over all the world; which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

²⁷ And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of the things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.

² And behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon had a bow, and there was given unto him a crown; and he came forth conquering, and to conquer. ³ And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, Come. ⁴ And another horse came forth, a fiery red horse; and to him that sat thereon it was given to take peace from the earth, that they should slay one another; and there was given unto him a great sword. ⁵ And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, Come and see. And behold, a black horse, and he that sat thereon had a balance in his hand. ⁶ And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, A measure of wheat for a shilling, and three measures of barley for a shilling, and the oil and the wine hurt thou not. ⁷ And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, Come and see. ⁸ And behold, a pale horse; and he that sat upon him, his name was Death, and Hades followed him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth. ⁹ And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of them that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they held: ¹⁰ and they cried with a great voice, saying, How long, O Master, the holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? ¹¹ And there was given them to each one a white robe, and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a time, until their fellow-servants and their brethren, and the ones that are about to be killed even as they also were, shall be fulfilled. ¹² And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood,

²⁹ But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken; ³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

²⁵ And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows, ²⁶ men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. ²⁷ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and in theirs synagogues they will scourge you, ¹⁸ yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you. ²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. ²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake; but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee to the other; for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. ²⁴ A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more them of his household!

⁶ and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them shall ye kill and crucify, and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city; ³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say unto you that all these things shall come upon this generation.

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you; and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

⁹ But take ye heed to yourselves; for they shall deliver you up to councils, and in synagogues shall ye be beaten, and before governors and kings shall ye stand for my sake, for a testimony unto them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be preached unto all the nations. ¹¹ But when they lead you to judgment, and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak; but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. ¹² Now brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. ¹³ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake; but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

⁴⁹ Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall kill and persecute, ⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary; yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you, if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues; yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God. ³ And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

³ And they laid hands on them, and put them in ward unto the morrow; for it was now eventide. ⁴ But many of them that heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. ⁵ And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem, ⁶ and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest. ⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, By what power, or in what name, have ye done this?

¹⁷ But the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy, ¹⁸ and laid hands on the apostles, and put them in public ward. ¹⁹ But an angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them out, and said,

⁴⁰ And to him they agreed; and when they had called the apostles unto them, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

¹² And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him into the council, ¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ for we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered unto us. ¹⁵ And all that sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

⁵⁷ But they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord, ⁵⁸ and they cast him out of the city, and stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. ⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen, calling upon the Lord, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. ⁶⁰ And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

³ But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and dragging men and women committed them to prison.

⁴ and he fell upon the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

¹ Now about that time Herod the king put forth his hands to afflict certain of the church. ² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. ³ And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. And those were the days of unleavened bread. ⁴ And when he had taken him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

²² And the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods. ²³ And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: ²⁴ who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. ²⁵ But about midnight Paul and Silas praying, were singing hymns unto God, and the prisoners were listening to them, ²⁶ and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison-house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

³⁰ And all the city was moved, and the people ran together, and they laid hold on Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and straightway the doors were shut. ³¹ And as they were seeking to kill him, tidings came up to the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in confusion.

³⁰ But on the morrow, desiring to know the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from the bands, and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.

¹ And after five days the high priest Ananias came down with the elders, and with an orator, one Tertullus, and they informed the governor against Paul. ² And when he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy much peace, and that by thy providence worthy deeds are done for this nation, ³ we accept it in all ways and in all places, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness. ⁴ But, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I entreat thee to hear us of thy clemency a few words. ⁵ For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of insurrections among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes: ⁶ who moreover assayed to profane the temple; on whom also we laid hold; ⁷ (OMITTED TEXT) ⁸ from whom thou wilt be able, by examining him thyself, to take knowledge of all these things whereof we accuse him. ⁹ And the Jews also joined in the charge, affirming that these things were so.

¹ Festus therefore, having come into the province, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea. ² And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews informed him against Paul, and they besought him,

¹¹ If then I am a wrong-doer, and have committed anything worthy of death, I refuse not to die, but if none of those things is true whereof these accuse me, no man can give me up unto them. I appeal unto Caesar. ¹² Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed unto Caesar; unto Caesar shalt thou go.

²² And Agrippa said unto Festus, I also could wish to hear the man myself. To-morrow, saith he, thou shalt hear him. ²³ So on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and they were entered into the place of hearing with the chief captains and principal men of the city, at the command of Festus, Paul was brought in. ²⁴ And Festus saith, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye behold this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews made suit to me, both at Jerusalem and here, crying that he ought not to live any longer. ²⁵ But I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death; and as he himself appealed to the emperor I determined to send him.

² I think myself happy, king Agrippa, that I am to make my defense before thee this day touching all the things whereof I am accused by the Jews: ³ especially because thou art expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews; wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently. ⁴ My manner of life then from my youth up, which was from the beginning among mine own nation and at Jerusalem, know all the Jews, ⁵ having knowledge of me from the first, if they be willing to testify, that after the straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. ⁶ And now I stand here to be judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers, ⁷ unto which promise our twelve tribes, earnestly serving God night and day, hope to attain. And concerning this hope, king Agrippa, I am accused by the Jews. ⁸ Why is it judged incredible with you, if God doth raise the dead? ⁹ I verily thought with myself that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ And this I also did in Jerusalem; and I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death I gave my vote against them. ¹¹ And punishing them oftentimes in all the synagogues, I strove to make them blaspheme, and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

¹⁵ who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove out us, and pleased not God, and are contrary to all men, ¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always; but the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

¹³ Therefore, be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake; whether to the king, as supreme,

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you: ¹³ but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice, that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye, because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you; on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁰ Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer; behold, indeed, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried, and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

¹² Now I would have you know, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the progress of the gospel,

²⁸ and in nothing affrighted by the adversaries; which is for them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and that from God,

³ that no man be moved by these afflictions, for yourselves know that hereunto we are appointed. ⁴ For verily, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction, even as it came to pass, and ye know.

⁵ which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.

¹¹ But when they lead you to judgment, and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak; but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say; ¹² for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto him: 'Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh a man dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? is it not I the LORD? ¹² Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.'

⁶ For the LORD giveth wisdom, out of His mouth cometh knowledge and discernment;

⁹ Then the LORD put forth His hand, and touched my mouth; and the LORD said unto me: Behold, I have put My words in thy mouth;

¹² for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say.

⁴⁵ Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures,

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, ⁹ if we this day are examined concerning a good deed done to an impotent man, by what means this man is made whole, ¹⁰ be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even in him doth this man stand here before you whole. ¹¹ He is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner. ¹² And in none other is there salvation; for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved. ¹³ Now when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled, and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken wherein they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with boldness. ³² And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them said that aught of their possessions was his own, but they had all things common. ³³ And with great power gave the apostles their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus; and great grace was upon them all.

¹⁰ And they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spake.

²⁵ And as he reasoned of righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and answered, Go thy way for this time, and when I have a convenient season, I will call thee unto me.

²⁸ And Agrippa said unto Paul, With but little persuasion thou wouldest fain make me a Christian.

¹⁹ and on my behalf, that utterance may be given unto me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

³ withal praying for us also, that God may open unto us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds, ⁴ that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

¹⁶ At my first defense no one took my part, but all forsook me; may it not be laid to their account. ¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might me fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

⁵ But if any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.

⁴ (9:3) Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother; for every brother acteth subtly, and every neighbour goeth about with slanders.

⁶ For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee, even they have cried aloud after thee; believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.'

⁵ Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a familiar friend; keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. ⁶ For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

⁹ And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of them that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they held:

¹¹ And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony, and they loved not their life even unto death.

¹⁰ Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong.

²⁹ because to you it hath been granted in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf:

¹⁴ If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye, because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you; on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

³ and thou hast patience and didst bear for my name's sake, and didst not grow weary.

⁴⁵ And the people said unto Saul: 'Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? Far from it; as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day.' So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.

²⁹ And though man be risen up to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul, yet the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as from the hollow of a sling.

¹¹ Then said she: 'I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son.' And he said: 'As the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.'

⁷ Resign thyself unto the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

¹ (40:1) For the Leader. A Psalm of David. (40:2) I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

¹³ But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

¹⁵ And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

⁷ to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life:

³ And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations; knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness,

²⁵ But if we hope for that which we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

⁴ For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written aforetime for our learning, that through patience and through comfort of the scriptures we might have hope.

³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father,

⁵ And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.

¹¹ And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence unto the fullness of hope even to the end:

¹⁵ And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

³⁶ For ye have need of patience, that, having done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.

³ Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience.

⁷ Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient for it, until it receive the early and latter rain. ⁸ Be ye also patient, establish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord is at hand. ⁹ Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged; behold, the judge standeth before the doors. ¹⁰ Take, my brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord. ¹¹ Behold, we call them blessed that endured; ye have heard of the patience of Job, and the end wrought of the Lord, see that he is full of pity, and merciful.

⁹ I John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and kingdom and patience which are in Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

² I know thy works, and thy toil and thy patience, and that thou canst not bear evil men, and didst try them that say themselves to be apostles, and they are not, and didst find them false, ³ and thou hast patience and didst bear for my name's sake, and didst not grow weary.

¹⁰ Because thou didst keep the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of trial, that hour which is to come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

¹⁰ If any man hath captivity, into captivity he goeth; if any man killeth with the sword, with the sword must he be killed. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

¹² Here is the patience of the saints, they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

²⁷ And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and upon the wing of detestable things shall be that which causeth appalment; and that until the extermination wholly determined be poured out upon that which causeth appalment.'

¹⁵ When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand),

⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee, when thine enemies shall cast up a bank about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

⁷ And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?

¹⁷ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said: 'Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the Plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be swept away.'

²⁶ But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

²⁰ He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses; ²¹ and he that regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.

²⁶ And he spoke unto the congregation, saying: 'Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be swept away in all their sins.'

³ A prudent man seeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the thoughtless pass on, and are punished.

¹ Put yourselves under covert, ye children of Benjamin, away from the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the horn in Tekoa, and set up a signal on Beth-cherem; for evil looketh forth from the north, and a great destruction.

¹¹ But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up against the land, that we said: Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Arameans; so we dwell at Jerusalem.'

¹² then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people.

¹⁶ then let them that are in Judea flee unto the mountains;

¹⁵ and let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter in, to take anything out his house;

³¹ In that day, he that shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away; and let him that is in the field likewise not return back. ³² Remember Lot's wife. ³³ Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come forth, my people, out of her, that ye have no fellowship with her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues:

¹⁴ But if ye will not hearken unto Me, and will not do all these commandments; ¹⁵ and if ye shall reject My statutes, and if your soul abhor Mine ordinances, so that ye will not do all My commandments, but break My covenant; ¹⁶ I also will do this unto you: I will appoint terror over you, even consumption and fever, that shall make the eyes to fail, and the soul to languish; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. ¹⁷ And I will set My face against you, and ye shall be smitten before your enemies; they that hate you shall rule over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. ¹⁸ And if ye will not yet for these things hearken unto Me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins. ¹⁹ And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass. ²⁰ And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield her produce, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruit. ²¹ And if ye walk contrary unto Me, and will not hearken unto Me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. ²² And I will send the beast of the field among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your ways shall become desolate. ²³ And if in spite of these things ye will not be corrected unto Me, but will walk contrary unto Me; ²⁴ then will I also walk contrary unto you; and I will smite you, even I, seven times for your sins. ²⁵ And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute the vengeance of the covenant; and ye shall be gathered together within your cities; and I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. ²⁶ When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight; and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied. ²⁷ And if ye will not for all this hearken unto Me, but walk contrary unto Me; ²⁸ then I will walk contrary unto you in fury; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins. ²⁹ And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. ³⁰ And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your sun-pillars, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you. ³¹ And I will make your cities a waste, and will bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. ³² And I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell therein shall be astonished at it. ³³ And you will I scatter among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you; and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

¹⁵ But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee. ¹⁶ Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough. ¹⁸ Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the young of thy flock. ¹⁹ Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. ²⁰ The LORD will send upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy hand unto to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken Me. ²¹ The LORD will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until He have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest in to possess it. ²² The LORD will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with drought, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. ²³ And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. ²⁴ The LORD will make the rain of thy land powder and dust; from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed. ²⁵ The LORD will cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and shalt flee seven ways before them; and thou shalt be a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶ And thy carcasses shall be food unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and there shall be none to frighten them away. ²⁷ The LORD will smite thee with the boil of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed. ²⁸ The LORD will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart. ²⁹ And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not make thy ways prosperous; and thou shalt be only oppressed and robbed alway, and there shall be none to save thee. ³⁰ Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof. ³¹ Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof; thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee; thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies; and thou shalt have none to save thee. ³² Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day; and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand. ³³ The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed away: ³⁴ so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. ³⁵ The LORD will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the crown of thy head. ³⁶ The LORD will bring thee, and thy king whom thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation that thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. ³⁷ And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples whither the LORD shall lead thee away. ³⁸ Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather little in; for the locust shall consume it. ³⁹ Thou shalt plant vineyards and dress them, but thou shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worm shall eat them. ⁴⁰ Thou shalt have olive-trees throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olives shall drop off. ⁴¹ Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be thine; for they shall go into captivity. ⁴² All thy trees and the fruit of thy land shall the locust possess. ⁴³ The stranger that is in the midst of thee shall mount up above thee higher and higher; and thou shalt come down lower and lower. ⁴⁴ He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him; he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. ⁴⁵ And all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou didst not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded thee. ⁴⁶ And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever; ⁴⁷ because thou didst not serve the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things; ⁴⁸ therefore shalt thou serve thine enemy whom the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. ⁴⁹ The LORD will bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the vulture swoopeth down; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; ⁵⁰ a nation of fierce countenance, that shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favour to the young. ⁵¹ And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy ground, until thou be destroyed; that also shall not leave thee corn, wine, or oil, the increase of thy kine, or the young of thy flock, until he have caused thee to perish. ⁵² And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fortified walls come down, wherein thou didst trust, throughout all thy land; and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. ⁵³ And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters whom the LORD thy God hath given thee; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall straiten thee. ⁵⁴ The man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil against his brother, and against the wife of his bosom, and against the remnant of his children whom he hath remaining; ⁵⁵ so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he hath nothing left him; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall straiten thee in all thy gates. ⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil against the husband of her bosom, and against her son, and against her daughter; ⁵⁷ and against her afterbirth that cometh out from between her feet, and against her children whom she shall bear; for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall straiten thee in thy gates. ⁵⁸ If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and awful Name, the LORD thy God; ⁵⁹ then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. ⁶⁰ And He will bring back upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast in dread of; and they shall cleave unto thee. ⁶¹ Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. ⁶² And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou didst not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. ⁶³ And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest in to possess it. ⁶⁴ And the LORD shall scatter thee among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers, even wood and stone. ⁶⁵ And among these nations shalt thou have no repose, and there shall be no rest for the sole of thy foot; but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and languishing of soul. ⁶⁶ And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear night and day, and shalt have no assurance of thy life. ⁶⁷ In the morning thou shalt say: 'Would it were even!' and at even thou shalt say: 'Would it were morning!' for the fear of thy heart which thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. ⁶⁸ And the LORD shall bring thee back into Egypt in ships, by the way whereof I said unto thee: 'Thou shalt see it no more again'; and there ye shall sell yourselves unto your enemies for bondmen and for bondwoman, and no man shall buy you.

¹⁹ (29:18) and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying: 'I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart - that the watered be swept away with the dry'; ²⁰ (29:19) the LORD will not be willing to pardon him, but then the anger of the LORD and His jealousy shall be kindled against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven; ²¹ (29:20) and the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law. ²² (29:21) And the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you, and the foreigner that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith the LORD hath made it sick; ²³ (29:22) and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His anger, and in His wrath; ²⁴ (29:23) even all the nations shall say 'Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?' ²⁵ (29:24) then men shall say: 'Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them forth out of the land of Egypt; ²⁶ (29:25) and went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods that they knew not, and that He had not allotted unto them; ²⁷ (29:26) therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book; ²⁸ (29:27) and the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day'. -

³⁴ 'Is not this laid up in store with Me, sealed up in My treasuries?

⁴³ Sing aloud, O ye nations, of His people; for He doth avenge the blood of His servants, and doth render vengeance to His adversaries, and doth make expiation for the land of His people.

²² (69:23) Let their table before them become a snare; and when they are in peace, let it become a trap. ²³ (69:24) Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to totter. ²⁴ (69:25) Pour out Thine indignation upon them, and let the fierceness of Thine anger overtake them. ²⁵ (69:26) Let their encampment be desolate; let none dwell in their tents. ²⁶ (69:27) For they persecute him whom Thou hast smitten; and they tell of the pain of those whom Thou hast wounded. ²⁷ (69:28) Add iniquity unto their iniquity; and let them not come into Thy righteousness. ²⁸ (69:29) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

⁷ To execute vengeance upon the nations, and chastisements upon the peoples; ⁸ To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; ⁹ To execute upon them the judgment written; He is the glory of all His saints. Hallelujah.

⁸ For the LORD hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the controversy of Zion.

² To proclaim the year of the LORD'S good pleasure, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

⁴ For the day of vengeance that was in My heart, and My year of redemption are come.

¹² I will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter; because when I called, ye did not answer, when I spoke, ye did not hear; but ye did that which was evil in Mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delighted not. ¹³ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, My servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry; Behold, My servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty; Behold, My servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed; ¹⁴ Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall wail for vexation of spirit. ¹⁵ And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto Mine elect: 'So may the Lord GOD slay thee'; but He shall call His servants by another name; ¹⁶ So that he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself by the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from Mine eyes.

⁶ Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and save every man his life, be not cut off in her iniquity; for it is the time of the LORD'S vengeance; He will render unto her a recompense.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sin, and to forgive iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal vision and prophet, and to anoint the most holy place. ²⁵ Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto one anointed, a prince, shall be seven weeks; and for threescore and two weeks, it shall be built again, with broad place and moat, but in troublous times.

⁷ The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come, Israel shall know it. The prophet is a fool, the man of the spirit is mad! For the multitude of thine iniquity, the enmity is great.

¹ Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars. ² Wail, O cypress-tree, for the cedar is fallen; because the glorious ones are spoiled; wail, O ye oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest is come down. ³ Hark! the wailing of the shepherds, for their glory is spoiled; Hark! the roaring of young lions, for the thickets of the Jordan are spoiled.

¹ Behold, a day of the LORD cometh, when thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. ² For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

¹ (3:19) For, behold, the day cometh, it burneth as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall set them ablaze, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

²² Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

¹⁹ For those days shall be tribulation, such as there hath not been the like from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never shall be. ²⁰ And except the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved, but for the elect's sake, whom he chose, he shortened the days.

⁵ but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God,

⁹ the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment unto the day of judgment,

⁷ but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by his word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil against the husband of her bosom, and against her son, and against her daughter; ⁵⁷ and against her afterbirth that cometh out from between her feet, and against her children whom she shall bear; for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall straiten thee in thy gates.

¹⁰ The hands of women full of compassion have sodden their own children; they were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

⁴¹ They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

⁴⁴ And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.

¹⁹ But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days!

²⁷ But these mine enemies, that would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

²⁹ For behold, the days are coming, in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the breasts that never gave suck.

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always; but the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

¹² nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. ¹³ For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh: ¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? ¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. ¹⁶ For where a testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him that made it. ¹⁷ For a testament is of force where there hath been death; for it doth never avail while he that made it liveth.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ A man that hath set at nought Moses law dieth without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses: ²⁹ of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know him that said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¹⁶ But to do good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

¹ Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.

¹⁷ For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?

⁵ And now come, I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; I will break down the fence thereof, and it shall be trodden down;

¹⁸ Thy holy people they have well nigh driven out, our adversaries have trodden down Thy sanctuary.

¹² For thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream, and ye shall suck thereof: Ye shall be borne upon the side, and shall be dandled upon the knees.

¹⁹ And I will work a sign among them, and I will send such as escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard My fame, neither have seen My glory; and they shall declare My glory among the nations.

¹⁵ The Lord hath set at nought all my mighty men in the midst of me; He hath called a solemn assembly against me to crush my young men; the Lord hath trodden as in a winepress the virgin the daughter of Judah.'

¹³ Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said unto that certain one who spoke: 'How long shall be the vision concerning the continual burnt-offering, and the transgression that causes appalment, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot?'

⁷ And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he lifted up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swore by Him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same My name is great among the nations; and in every place offerings are presented unto My name, even pure oblations; for My name is great among the nations, saith the LORD of hosts.

²⁵ For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in,

² And the court which is without the temple leave without, and measure it not, for it hath been given unto the nations; and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

³ (46:4) Though the waters thereof roar and foam, though the mountains shake at the swelling thereof. Selah

³ The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. ⁴ Above the voices of many waters, the mighty breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty.

³⁰ And they shall roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea; and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and distress, and the light is darkened in the skies thereof.

¹⁰ For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

¹³ Therefore I will make the heavens to tremble, and the earth shall be shaken out of her place, for the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and for the day of His fierce anger. ¹⁴ And it shall come to pass, that as the chased gazelle, and as sheep that no man gathereth, they shall turn every man to his own people, and shall flee every man to his own land.

⁴ Therefore said I: 'Look away from me, I will weep bitterly; strain not to comfort me, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.' ⁵ For it is a day of trouble, and of trampling, and of perplexity, from the Lord, the GOD of hosts, in the Valley of Vision; Kir shouting, and Shoa at the mount.

²³ Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for the LORD of hosts will reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before His elders shall be Glory.

¹⁵ For I am the LORD thy God, who stirreth up the sea, that the waves thereof roar; the LORD of hosts is His name.

²³ I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

⁷ And when I shall extinguish thee, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof black; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. ⁸ All the bright lights of heaven will I make black over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.

¹ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who standeth for the children of thy people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time; and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

³⁰ (3:3) And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. ³¹ (3:4) The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.

⁹ And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day. ¹⁰ And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.

⁴ The best of them is as a brier; the most upright is worse than a thorn hedge; the day of thy watchmen, even thy visitation, is come; now shall be their perplexity.

²⁹ But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken;

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

²⁴ But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

²⁶ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory.

³³ And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

¹⁹ And I will show wonders in the heaven above, And signs on the earth beneath, Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing then that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

¹² And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood, ¹³ and the stars of the heaven fell unto the earth, as a fig tree casting her unripe figs when she is shaken of a great wind. ¹⁴ And the heaven was removed as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them.

³⁶ And as for them that are left of you, I will send a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as one fleeth from the sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.

³² Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day; and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand. ³³ The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed away: ³⁴ so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

⁶⁵ And among these nations shalt thou have no repose, and there shall be no rest for the sole of thy foot; but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and languishing of soul. ⁶⁶ And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear night and day, and shalt have no assurance of thy life. ⁶⁷ In the morning thou shalt say: 'Would it were even!' and at even thou shalt say: 'Would it were morning!' for the fear of thy heart which thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

¹³ I saw in the night visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like unto a son of man, and he came even to the Ancient of days, and he was brought near before Him.

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds. ²⁸ Verily I say unto you, there are some that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

³¹ But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory;

⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, Thou hast said; nevertheless I say unto you, Henceforth ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.

⁹ And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, ¹¹ who also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven.

⁷ Behold, he cometh with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they that pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth shall mourn over him. Even so, Amen.

¹⁴ And I saw, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud I saw one sitting like unto a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

⁵ Sing praises unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp and the voice of melody. ⁶ With trumpets and sound of the horn shout ye before the King, the LORD. ⁷ Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein; ⁸ Let the floods clap their hands; let the mountains sing for joy together; ⁹ Before the LORD, for He is come to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

¹ And in that day thou shalt say: 'I will give thanks unto Thee, O LORD; for though Thou was angry with me, Thine anger is turned away, and Thou comfortest me. ² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for GOD the LORD is my strength and song; and He is become my salvation.' ³ Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

⁸ He will swallow up death for ever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of His people will He take away from off all the earth; for the LORD hath spoken it. ⁹ And it shall be said in that day: 'Lo, this is our God, for whom we waited, that He might save us; this is the LORD, for whom we waited, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.'

¹ Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For, behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but upon thee the LORD will arise, and His glory shall be seen upon thee.

⁷ And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and yet he is longsuffering over them?

¹⁹ For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God.

²³ And not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for our adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

¹⁴ who is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God's own possession, unto the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.

³² Now from the fig tree learn her parable; when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh, ³³ even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors. ³⁴ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished. ³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

²⁸ Now from the fig tree learn her parable; when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh, ²⁹ even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors. ³⁰ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things be accomplished.

⁵⁷ And why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

¹ And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and trying him asked him to show them a sign from heaven. ² But he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather; for the heaven is red. ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather to-day; for the heaven is red and lowering. Ye know how to discern the face of the heaven, but ye cannot discern the signs of the times. ⁴ An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet. And he left them, and departed.

⁵¹ Think ye that I am come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, Nay, but rather division; ⁵² for there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. ⁵³ They shall be divided, father against son, and son against father, mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother, mother in law against her daughter in law, and daughter in law against her mother in law. ⁵⁴ And he said to the multitudes also, When ye see a cloud rising in the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower, and so it cometh to pass. ⁵⁵ And when ye see a south wind blowing, ye say, There will be a scorching heat, and it cometh to pass. ⁵⁶ Ye hypocrites, ye know how to interpret the face of the earth and the heaven, but how is it that ye do not interpret this time? ⁵⁷ And why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

³⁷ For yet a very little while, He that cometh shall come, and shall not tarry.

⁹ Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged; behold, the judge standeth before the doors.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober in your prayers:

²⁸ Verily I say unto you, there are some that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³⁶ Verily I say unto you that all these things shall come upon this generation.

³⁴ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished.

³⁰ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things be accomplished.

²⁶ (102:27) They shall perish, but Thou shalt endure; yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt Thou change them, and they shall pass away;

⁸ The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand for ever.'

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner; but My salvation shall be for ever, and My favour shall not be abolished.

¹⁸ For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

³¹ Heaven and earth shall pass away; but my words shall not pass away.

²⁵ But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you.

⁹ 'Drink no wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, that ye die not; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.

¹⁹ (29:18) and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying: 'I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart - that the watered be swept away with the dry';

³⁶ And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken; wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.

⁸ Let destruction come upon him unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself; with destruction let him fall therein.

⁴ A haughty look, and a proud heart - the tillage of the wicked is sin.

¹ Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley of them that are smitten down with wine! ² Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, as a storm of hail, a tempest of destruction, as a storm of mighty waters overflowing, that casteth down to the earth with violence. ³ The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under foot;

⁷ But these also reel through wine, and stagger through strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel through strong drink, they are confused because of wine, they stagger because of strong drink; they reel in vision, they totter in judgment.

¹⁰ His watchmen are all blind, without knowledge; they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; raving, lying down, loving to slumber. ¹¹ Yea, the dogs are greedy, they know not when they have enough; and these are shepherds that cannot understand; they all turn to their own way, each one to his gain, one and all. ¹² 'Come ye, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to-morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.'

¹¹ Harlotry, wine, and new wine take away the heart.

²² And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man. ⁴⁰ Then shall two men be in the field, one is taken, and one is left; ⁴¹ two women shall be grinding at the mill, one is taken, and one is left. ⁴² Watch therefore; for ye know not in what hour your Lord cometh. ⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through. ⁴⁴ Therefore be ye also ready, for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh. ⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath set over his household servants, to give them their food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. ⁴⁷ Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath. ⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth to come, ⁴⁹ and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not,

¹⁹ and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

⁹ But take ye heed to yourselves; for they shall deliver you up to councils, and in synagogues shall ye be beaten, and before governors and kings shall ye stand for my sake, for a testimony unto them.

¹⁴ And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

⁴¹ But Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things;

⁴⁰ Be ye also ready; for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.

⁴⁵ But if that servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming, and shall begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken, ⁴⁶ the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful.

³ Take heed to yourselves; if thy brother sin against thee, rebuke him, and if he repent, forgive him.

¹¹ And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep; for now is salvation nearer to us than when we first believed. ¹² The night is far spent, and the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. ¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day, not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy.

¹¹ but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner, with such a one no, not to eat.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,

⁶ In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

² For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. ³ When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall in no wise escape. ⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief: ⁵ for ye are all sons of light, and sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness, ⁶ so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that are drunken are drunken in the night. ⁸ But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

¹⁵ looking carefully lest there be any man that falleth short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled,

³ For the time of life past sufficeth us to work the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries: ⁴ wherein they think strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: ⁵ who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. ⁶ For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. ⁷ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober in your prayers:

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, give diligence that ye may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight.

³ Remember therefore how thou hast received and didst hear, and keep it, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

⁴ For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I blot out from off the face of the earth.'

⁶ Upon the wicked He will cause to rain coals; fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.

¹² For man also knoweth not his time; as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare, even so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.

¹⁷ Terror, and the pit, and the trap, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. ¹⁸ And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the terror shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the trap; for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth do shake;

⁴³ Terror, and the pit, and the trap, are upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD. ⁴⁴ He that fleeth from the terror shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the trap; for I will bring upon her, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

³⁷ And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, thither will the eagles also be gathered together.

²⁶ and he made of one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation,

¹⁵ (Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.)

¹⁰ Will he have his delight in the Almighty, and call upon God at all times?

⁵ Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

² But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap;

⁴² Watch therefore; for ye know not in what hour your Lord cometh.

¹³ Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

⁴¹ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³³ Take ye heed, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time is.

³⁷ And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching; verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and shall come and serve them. ³⁸ And if he shall come in the second watch, and if in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. ³⁹ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not have left his house to be broken through. ⁴⁰ Be ye also ready; for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.

¹ And he spake a parable unto them to the end that one ought always to pray, and not to faint,

³⁵ but they that are accounted worthy to attain to that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage;

² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

¹³ Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

¹³ Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

¹⁸ with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints, ¹⁹ and on my behalf, that utterance may be given unto me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

² Continue stedfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving,

¹⁷ pray without ceasing,

⁵ which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: ⁶ if so be that it is a righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to them that afflict you,

⁵ But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry.

⁸ Be sober, be watchful; your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,

²⁸ And now, my little children, abide in him, that, when he shall be manifested, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

²⁴ Now unto him that is able to guard them from stumbling, and to set you before the presence of his glory without blemish in exceeding joy,

⁴ And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleft in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, so that there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

¹ And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethsphage, unto the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

¹⁷ And he left them, and went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out unto the mount of Olives.

⁵⁵ In that hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a robber with swords and staves to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and ye took me not.

¹² And on the morrow, when they were come out from Bethany, he hungered.

¹⁹ And every evening he went forth out of the city.

³⁷ And as he was now drawing nigh, even at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,

³⁹ And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed him.

¹ Jesus therefore six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was that had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

¹² Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is nigh unto Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey off.

¹ but Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. ² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him, and he sat down, and taught them.
