¹⁴ And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them.

¹⁴ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, ¹⁵ and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son; for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously, for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and oft-times into the water. ¹⁶ And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. ¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me. ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him; and the boy was cured from that hour. ¹⁹ Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast it out? ²⁰ And Jesus said unto them, Because of your little faith; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

²⁸ and they said unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

¹⁴ And when they were come, they say unto him, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not the person of men, but of a truth teachest the way of God; Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

³⁷ And it came to pass, on the next day, when they were come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him. ³⁸ And behold, a man from the multitude cried, saying, Teacher, I beseech thee to look upon my son, for he is mine only child: ³⁹ and behold, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out, and it teareth him that he foameth, and it hardly departeth from him, bruising him sorely. ⁴⁰ And I besought thy disciples to cast it out, and they could not. ⁴¹ And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? bring hither thy son. ⁴² And as he was yet a coming, the demon dashed him down, and tare him grievously. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

⁵³ And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press upon him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things, ⁵⁴ laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

³ For consider him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.
