³⁰ But when he saw the strong wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me.

¹⁵ And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host with horses and chariots was round about the city. And his servant said unto him: 'Alas, my master! how shall we do?'

⁶⁹ Now Peter was sitting without in the court; and a maid came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilaean. ⁷⁰ But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. ⁷¹ And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and saith unto them there, This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁷² And again he denied with an oath, I know not the man. ⁷³ And after a little while they that stood by came and said to Peter, Of a truth thou also art one of them, for thy speech maketh thee known. ⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And straightway the cock crew. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

³⁸ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

⁶⁶ And as Peter was beneath in the court, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest, ⁶⁷ and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and saith, Thou also wast with the Nazarene, even Jesus. ⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest; and he went out into the porch, and a cock crew. ⁶⁹ And the maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. ⁷⁰ But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, of a truth thou art one of them, for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech is like theirs. ⁷¹ But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak. ⁷² And a second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

⁵⁴ And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed afar off. ⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them. ⁵⁶ And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light of the fire, and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him. ⁵⁷ But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not. ⁵⁸ And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art one of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not. ⁵⁹ And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him, for he is a Galilaean. ⁶⁰ But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice.

²⁵ Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore unto him, Art thou also one of his disciples? He then denied, and said, I am not. ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? ²⁷ Peter therefore denied again; and straightway the cock crew.

⁷ And by reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I should not be exalted overmuch. ⁸ Concerning this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹⁶ At my first defense no one took my part, but all forsook me; may it not be laid to their account. ¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might me fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
