¹² But thou shouldest not have gazed on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

³ Multiply not exceeding proud talk; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth; for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed.

²⁹ If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or exulted when evil found him -

¹⁷ (22:18) I may count all my bones; they look and gloat over me.

¹⁸ (31:19) Let the lying lips be dumb, which speak arrogantly against the righteous, with pride and contempt.

¹³ The Lord doth laugh at him; for He seeth that his day is coming.

⁷ (54:9) For He hath delivered me out of all trouble; and mine eye hath gazed upon mine enemies.

¹⁰ (59:11) The God of my mercy will come to meet me; God will let me gaze upon mine adversaries.

²⁴ By thy servants hast thou taunted the Lord, and hast said: With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I have cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice cypress-trees thereof; and I have entered into his farthest height, the forest of his fruitful field.

²¹ Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz: the cup shall pass over unto thee also; thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

⁶ For thus saith the Lord GOD: Because thou hast clapped thy hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the disdain of thy soul against the land of Israel; ⁷ therefore, behold, I stretch out My hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the nations; and I will cut thee off from the peoples, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries; I will destroy thee, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

¹⁵ As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee; thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

¹¹ And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say: 'Let her be defiled, and let our eye gaze upon Zion.'

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy; though I am fallen, I shall arise; though I sit in darkness, the LORD is a light unto me. ⁹ I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against Him; until He plead my cause, and execute judgment for me; He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold His righteousness. ¹⁰ Then mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her; who said unto me: Where is the LORD thy God? Mine eyes shall gaze upon her; now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.'

⁴⁰ and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself; if thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross. ⁴¹ And in like manner also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders and Pharisees, said, ⁴² He saved others, himself he cannot save. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on him. ⁴³ He trusteth on God, let him deliver him now, if he desireth him; for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁴¹ And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it,

⁵ So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!

¹⁸ For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who have indeed escaped from them that live in error,

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaketh great swelling words), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage.

⁵ and there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemy, and there was given to him authority to make war forty and two months.
