²⁶ The righteous is guided by his friend; but the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.

¹² (18:13) At the brightness before Him, there passed through His thick clouds hailstones and coals of fire. ¹³ (18:14) The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High gave forth His voice; hailstones and coals of fire.

¹³ In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; but the righteous cometh out of trouble.

²⁷ He that spareth his words hath knowledge; and he that husbandeth his spirit is a man of discernment.

⁴⁶ For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? ⁴⁷ And if ye salute your friends only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? ⁴⁸ Ye therefore shall be perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

³² And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them. ³³ And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same. ³⁴ And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much. ³⁵ But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil. ³⁶ Be ye merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

¹³ Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man: ¹⁴ but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.

¹⁸ Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. ¹⁹ For this is acceptable, if for conscience toward God a man endureth griefs, suffering wrongfully. ²⁰ For what glory is it, if, when ye sin, and are buffeted for it, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. ²¹ For hereunto were ye called; because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:

¹⁸ For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who have indeed escaped from them that live in error, ¹⁹ promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption, for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he also brought into bondage. ²⁰ For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first. ²¹ For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.

²⁶ These things have I written unto you concerning them that would lead you astray.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

¹⁴ And he deceiveth mine own people, even them that dwell on the earth by reason of the signs which it was given him to do in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast having the stroke of the sword and lived.
