³ It is an honour for a man to keep aloof from strife; but every fool will be snarling.

⁹ And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying: 'The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying: Give thy daughter to my son to wife; and there passed by the wild beasts that were in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.

¹⁷ He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly; and a man of wicked devices is hated.

²⁹ He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

³² He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

¹⁴ The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water; therefore leave off contention, before the quarrel break out.

⁶ A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

¹¹ It is the discretion of a man to be slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

²⁴ A proud and haughty man, scorner is his name, even he that dealeth in overbearing pride.
