³ (89:4) I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant:

⁹ God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as the LORD hath sworn to David, I do not even so to him;

¹⁰ And I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be disquieted no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first, ¹¹ even from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and I will cause thee to rest from all thine enemies. Moreover the LORD telleth thee that the LORD will make thee a house. ¹² When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy body, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³ He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever. ¹⁴ I will be to him for a father, and he shall be to Me for a son; if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men; ¹⁵ but My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. ¹⁶ And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee; thy throne shall be established for ever.'

⁵ For is not my house established with God? for an everlasting covenant He hath made with me, ordered in all things, and sure; for all my salvation, and all my desire, will he not make it to grow?

¹⁶ Since the day that I brought forth My people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that My name might be there; but I chose David to be over My people Israel.

⁷⁰ He chose David also His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;

¹⁹ (89:20) Then Thou spokest in vision to Thy godly ones, and saidst: 'I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

²⁸ (89:29) For ever will I keep for him My mercy, and My covenant shall stand fast with him.

³⁴ (89:35) My covenant will I not profane, nor alter that which is gone out of My lips. ³⁵ (89:36) Once have I sworn by My holiness: Surely I will not be false unto David;

³⁹ (89:40) Thou hast abhorred the covenant of Thy servant; Thou hast profaned his crown even to the ground.

¹¹ The LORD swore unto David in truth; He will not turn back from it: 'Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

¹ Behold My servant, whom I uphold; Mine elect, in whom My soul delighteth; I have put My spirit upon him, he shall make the right to go forth to the nations.

³ Incline your ear, and come unto Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

⁹ But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

²⁰ Thus saith the LORD: If ye can break My covenant with the day, and My covenant with the night, so that there should not be day and night in their season; ²¹ Then may also My covenant be broken with David My servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, My ministers.

²³ And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even My servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ And I the LORD will be their God, and My servant David prince among them; I the LORD have spoken.

⁵ afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall come trembling unto the LORD and to His goodness in the end of days.

¹⁷ and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

¹⁸ Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased; I will put my Spirit upon him, And he shall declare judgment to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ He shall not strive, nor cry aloud, Neither shall any one hear his voice in the streets. ²⁰ A bruised reed shall he not break, And smoking flax shall he not quench, Till he send forth judgment unto victory. ²¹ And in his name shall the Gentiles hope.

³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: ³³ and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

³⁰ Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Christ to sit upon his throne,

²¹ (for they indeed have been made priests without an oath, but he with an oath by him that saith of him, The Lord sware and will not repent himself, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek),
