³ LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult?

¹¹ And Haman recounted unto them the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and everything as to how the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king. ¹² Haman said moreover: 'Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to-morrow also am I invited by her together with the king.

⁶ So Haman came in. And the king said unto him: 'What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour?' - Now Haman said in his heart: 'Whom would the king delight to honour besides myself?' - ⁷ And Haman said unto the king: 'For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, ⁸ let royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and on whose head a crown royal is set; ⁹ and let the apparel and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man therewith whom the king delighteth to honour, and cause him to ride on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him: Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.' ¹⁰ Then the king said to Haman: 'Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate; let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.'

⁶ And Esther said: 'An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman.' Then Haman was terrified before the king and the queen.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath assuaged.

⁵ That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?

² For Thou art the God of my strength; why hast Thou cast me off? Why go I mourning under the oppression of the enemy?

⁸ They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression; they speak as if there were none on high.

⁹ We see not our signs; there is no more any prophet; neither is there among us any that knoweth how long. ¹⁰ How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme Thy name for ever?

⁵ How long, O LORD, wilt Thou be angry for ever? How long will Thy jealousy burn like fire?

⁴ (80:5) O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt Thou be angry against the prayer of Thy people?

¹ Right wouldest Thou be, O LORD, were I to contend with Thee, yet will I reason with Thee: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? Wherefore are all they secure that deal very treacherously? ² Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root; they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit; Thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.

⁶ O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? Put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.

²² And the people shouted, saying, The voice of a god, and not of a man. ²³ And immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not glory to God; and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

¹⁰ and they cried with a great voice, saying, How long, O Master, the holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
