And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. ¹¹ And as she was going to bring it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray you, a morsel of bread in your hand. ¹² And she said, As the LORD your God lives, I have not bread, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a jar: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. ¹³ And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as you have said: but make me from it a little loaf first, and bring it unto me, and after that make some for you and for your son. ¹⁴ For thus says the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not run out, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth. ¹⁵ And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. ¹⁶ And the barrel of meal did not run out, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah. ¹⁷ And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so severe, that there was no breath left in him. ¹⁸ And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with you, O you man of God? are you come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son? ¹⁹ And he said unto her, Give me your son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he was staying, and laid him upon his own bed. ²⁰ And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, have you also brought tragedy upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son? ²¹ And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray you, let this child’s soul come into him again. ²² And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. ²³ And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, your son lives. ²⁴ And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.

⁸ At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

⁴ Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead struck down Ephraim, because they said, You Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

¹ And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

¹⁰ As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found you not.

¹⁵ And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him today.

¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As the LORD lives, what the LORD says unto me, that will I speak.

¹⁴ And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.

¹⁶ But he said, As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.

¹⁸ Lift up your eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to you. As I live, says the LORD, you shall surely clothe yourself with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on you, as a bride does.

¹⁹ Therefore thus says the LORD, If you return, then will I bring you again, and you shall stand before me: and if you take forth the precious from the vile, you shall be as my mouth: let them return unto you; but return not you unto them.

²⁹ For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

¹⁴ And if you will receive it, this is Elijah, who was to come.

¹⁴ And they said, Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

⁴⁷ Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calls for Elijah.

⁴⁹ The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.

¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

¹⁹ And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stands in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto you, and to show you these glad tidings.

²⁵ But I tell you a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; ²⁶ But unto none of them was Elijah sent, except unto Zarephath, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

³⁰ And, behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah:

³³ And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Teacher, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he said.

⁵⁴ And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, will you that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?

³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

²¹ And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he said, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.

²⁵ And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptize you then, if you are not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?

²³ For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

² God has not cast away his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah? how he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying,

¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.

⁶ These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

²² But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

²⁰ You shall hide them in the secret of your presence from the pride of man: you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

³ They have taken crafty counsel against your people, and consulted against your hidden ones.

¹⁹ Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go hide, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are.

²⁶ But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

⁵⁹ Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

¹⁴ And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timothy abode there still.

³⁸ (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

⁶ And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and three score days.

¹⁴ And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

⁵ And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. ⁶ And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid himself down again. ⁷ And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for you. ⁸ And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hides his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? ⁹ When I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band, ¹⁰ And prescribed bounds for it, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ And said, Thus far shall you come, but no farther: and here shall your proud waves be stopped? ¹² Have you commanded the morning since your days began; and caused the dawn to know its place; ¹³ That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

⁴¹ Who provides for the raven its food? when its young ones cry unto God, they wander about for lack of food.

⁸ Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. ⁹ For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

⁹ He gives to the beast its food, and to the young ravens that cry.

³ And though they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, I will search and take them from there; and though they are hidden from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there will I command the serpent, and it shall bite them: ⁴ And though they go into captivity before their enemies, there will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set my eyes upon them for harm, and not for good.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

¹¹ Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

⁹ And he came there unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What do you here, Elijah?

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.

²⁴ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you.

³⁵ And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the border of the land of Canaan.

²³ And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand shortened? you shall see now whether my word shall come to pass unto you or not.

¹⁴ And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.

¹⁸ And he was very thirsty, and called on the LORD, and said, you have given this great deliverance into the hand of your servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? ¹⁹ But God split a hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water out of it; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: therefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.

⁹ O fear the LORD, you his saints: for there is no lack to them that fear him. ¹⁰ The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and verily you shall be fed.

¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

¹⁵ He split the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. ¹⁶ He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

²³ Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, ²⁴ And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the grain of heaven.

¹⁶ He shall dwell on high: his place of defense shall be the fortresses of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

²¹ Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

⁴ And now, behold, I loose you this day from the chains which were upon your hand. If it seems good unto you to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well after you: but if it seems wrong unto you to come with me into Babylon, remain here: behold, all the land is before you: where it seems good and convenient for you to go, there go.

¹⁷ Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be on the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, How shall we be clothed? ³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. ³³ But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ²⁰ And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. ²¹ And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

³⁵ And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and bag, and sandals, lacked you anything? And they said, Nothing.

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, in that it was impossible for God to lie, we might have strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

⁵ Let your conduct be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. ⁶ So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

³⁰ Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: ³¹ But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

¹⁰ For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, says the LORD that has mercy on you.

¹⁴ And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

² And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

¹⁷ When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongues fail for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

⁶ So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

² And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, my own hand has saved me.

⁴ And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will test them for you there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto you, This one shall go with you, the same shall go with you; and of whomsoever I say unto you, This one shall not go with you, the same shall not go.

⁴ And it shall be, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.

¹⁷ (As it is written, I have made you a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead, and calls those things which are not as though they were. ¹⁸ Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall your descendants be. ¹⁹ And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body as now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: ²⁰ He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; ²¹ And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

¹⁵ And the water was used up in the skin, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

¹⁷ And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray you, drink a little water of your pitcher.

⁷ There came a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus said unto her, Give me to drink.

⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

³⁵ For I was hungry, and you gave me food: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: ³⁶ Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came unto me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you hungry, and fed you? or thirsty, and gave you drink? ³⁸ When saw we you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you? ³⁹ Or when saw we you sick, or in prison, and came unto you? ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Since you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.

² Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

¹⁶ And she went, and sat down apart from him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat away from him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.

³⁹ For, as the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.

⁴⁵ And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, so that he died not.

³ And David swore again, and said, Your father certainly knows that I have found grace in your eyes; and he says, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.

²¹ And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of you, take them; then come you: for there is peace to you, and no hurt; as the LORD lives.

²⁶ Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, seeing the LORD has held you back from coming to shed blood, and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now let your enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.

¹⁰ David said furthermore, As the LORD lives, the LORD shall strike him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.

²¹ And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will your servant be.

And she said, Your handmaid has not anything in the house, except a pot of oil. ³ Then he said, Go, borrow you vessels outside of all your neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. ⁴ And when you are come in, you shall shut the door upon you and upon your sons, and shall pour out into all those vessels, and you shall set aside that which is full. ⁵ So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. ⁶ And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stopped flowing. ⁷ Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt, and live you and your children from the rest.

² And you shall swear, The LORD lives, in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

² And though they say, The LORD lives; surely they swear falsely.

¹⁸ If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.

⁹ They that are slain with the sword are better than they that are slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for lack of the fruits of the field.

¹⁸ Son of man, eat your bread with quaking, and drink your water with trembling and with anxiety; ¹⁹ And say unto the people of the land, Thus says the Lord GOD of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water with dismay, that their land may be emptied from all who are in it, because of the violence of all them that dwell in it.

¹⁵ Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. ¹⁶ Is not the food cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

³³ And his disciples said unto him, From where should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? ³⁴ And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have you? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

¹ And it came to pass after these things, that God did test Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here am I. ² And he said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and get you into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell you of.

¹³ And Moses said unto the people, Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them again no more forever.

⁵ So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, him shall you set by himself; likewise every one that bows down upon his knees to drink. ⁶ And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. ⁷ And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand: and let all the other people go, every man unto his place.

¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

¹⁷ You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand you still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase:

¹⁰ Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

¹³ For I the LORD your God will hold your right hand, saying unto you, Fear not; I will help you.

¹⁰ Bring you all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

³³ But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

³⁷ He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

²¹ Jesus said unto him, If you will be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

⁵ And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not: for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified.

²⁴ Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all them that sail with you.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son.

⁷ That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

¹⁶ And he said, Thus says the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.

⁴² And there came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of grain in his sack. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat. ⁴³ And his servant said, What, should I set this before a hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus says the LORD, They shall eat, and shall have some left. ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they did eat, and had some left, according to the word of the LORD.

¹ Then Elisha said, Hear you the word of the LORD; Thus says the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

⁶ And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, I have anointed you king over the people of the LORD, even over Israel.

¹⁷ And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. ¹⁸ He said, Bring them here to me. ¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ²⁰ And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

³⁶ And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and broke them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ³⁷ And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken pieces that were left seven baskets full. ³⁸ And they that did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children.

²² Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

⁴ So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

³ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and cut the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

²⁰ And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is your faith: be it unto you even as you will. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

⁴³ And he called unto him his disciples, and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow has cast more in, than all they who have cast into the treasury:

⁴⁰ Jesus said unto her, Said I not unto you, that, if you would believe, you should see the glory of God?

¹⁹ And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body as now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: ²⁰ He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

⁷ By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved by fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should later receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing where he went.

⁵ The altar also was torn, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

¹² Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,

²⁸ And when he came into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus said unto them, You believe that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yes, Lord. ²⁹ Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus sternly charged them, saying, See that no man knows it.

³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible.

⁴⁵ And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

⁵⁰ Jesus said unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. ⁵¹ And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives.

¹⁸ And when the child was grown, on a certain day, he went out to his father to the reapers. ¹⁹ And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother. ²⁰ And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.

¹⁰ In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

¹⁴ If he should set his heart upon man, if he should gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

²⁹ You hide your face, they are troubled: you take away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

²³ But have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine in them; and you have praised the gods of silver, and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways, have you not glorified:

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

³ Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick. ⁴ When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

¹⁴ Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

² My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials; ³ Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. ⁴ But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.

¹² Blessed is the man that endures trial: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him.

²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to test you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

²¹ And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. ²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Spoke I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and you would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

¹⁵ And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will perhaps hate us, and will certainly pay back to us all the evil which we did unto him.

¹⁷ So shall you say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray you now, the trespass of your brothers, and their sin; for they did unto you evil: and now, we pray you, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke unto him.

⁴ And Samuel did that which the LORD spoke, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Come you peaceably?

¹⁰ And the king said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD has said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why have you done so?

²² And David said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

¹ And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.

⁹ And he said, How have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?

¹³ And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? get you to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

²¹ But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with you, you king of Judah? I come not against you this day, but against the house with which I am at war: for God commanded me to make haste: cease from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroys you not.

²³ How many are my iniquities and sins? make me know my transgression and my sin.

²⁶ For you write bitter things against me, and make me possess the iniquities of my youth.

²³ And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken. ²⁴ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because you have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that you are come to remembrance, you shall be taken with the hand.

⁷ And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the most high God? I adjure you by God, that you torment me not.

¹⁵ And they came to Jesus, and saw him that was possessed with the demon, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. ¹⁶ And they that saw it told them what had happened to him that was possessed with the demon, and also concerning the swine. ¹⁷ And they began to ask him to depart out of their region.

¹⁶ But when Herod heard of it, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

³⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with you, you Jesus of Nazareth? are you come to destroy us? I know who you are; the Holy One of God.

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of God most high? I beseech you, torment me not.

⁴ Jesus said unto her, Woman, what have I to do with you? my hour has not yet come.

¹⁰ Let us make a little chamber, I pray you, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a lampstand: and it shall be, when he comes to us, that he shall turn in there.

²¹ And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.

³² And when Elisha had come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

²³ And Abraham drew near, and said, will you also destroy the righteous with the wicked? ²⁴ Suppose there be fifty righteous within the city: will you also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are there? ²⁵ That be far from you to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from you: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

⁴ And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they are almost ready to stone me.

⁸ O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turns their backs before their enemies! ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall surround us, and cut off our name from the earth: and what will you do for your great name?

⁸ And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. ⁹ And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him.

³⁶ And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that you are the LORD God, and that you have turned their heart back again.

⁴ It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that are left.

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, who dwells between the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.

¹³ Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence. ¹⁴ For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

⁶ Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

¹ Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

²² And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.

¹⁵ And the prayer of faith shall deliver the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. ¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months. ¹⁸ And he prayed again, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.

³³ He went in therefore, and shut the door upon the two of them, and prayed unto the LORD. ³⁴ And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child became warm. ³⁵ Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁰ And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

¹⁰ And Paul went down, and fell upon him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

¹⁹ Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from which also he received him in a figure.

³⁹ See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god besides me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

⁶ The LORD kills, and makes alive: he brings down to the grave, and brings up.

²¹ And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they saw a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulcher of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

⁵⁴ And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Child, arise.

²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, ²⁹ And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of condemnation.

⁴³ And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

¹² And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

⁹ For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

¹¹ And after three days and a half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them who saw them.

³⁶ And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up your son. ³⁷ Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.

¹⁵ And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

⁴¹ And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

¹⁰ The preacher sought to find acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

¹¹ This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

² The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him.

⁴² And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world. ⁴³ Now after two days he departed from there, and went into Galilee. ⁴⁴ For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country. ⁴⁵ Then when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. ⁴⁶ So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain official, whose son was sick at Capernaum. ⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus came out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. ⁴⁸ Then said Jesus unto him, Except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.

¹⁵ And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent you may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

⁴² And I knew that you hear me always: but because of the people who stand by I said it, that they may believe that you have sent me.

²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

³⁰ Now are we sure that you know all things, and need not that any man should ask you: but this we believe that you came forth from God.

¹³ For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when you received the word of God which you heard of us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe.

²¹ I have not written unto you because you know not the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
