⁵ In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give you.

¹² And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. ¹³ And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which you lie, to you will I give it, and to your descendants;

⁶ And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

² That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

⁹ And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared unto him twice,

⁷ In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give you. ⁸ And Solomon said unto God, You have shown great mercy unto David my father, and have made me to reign in his stead. ⁹ Now, O LORD God, let your promise unto David my father be established: for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. ¹⁰ Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this your people, that are so great? ¹¹ And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of your enemies, neither yet have asked long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king: ¹² Wisdom and knowledge are granted unto you; and I will give you riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before you, neither shall there any after you have the like.

¹⁴ For God speaks once, yea twice, yet man perceives it not. ¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

²⁰ But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

¹³ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and remain there until I bring you word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

³⁸ But Jesus said unto them, You know not what you ask: can you drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? ³⁹ And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, You shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized shall you be baptized: ⁴⁰ But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. ⁴¹ And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John. ⁴² But Jesus called them to him, and said unto them, You know that they who are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their leaders exercise authority over them. ⁴³ But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever would be great among you, shall be your servant: ⁴⁴ And whosoever of you will be the first, shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. ⁴⁶ And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. ⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me. ⁴⁸ And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, You son of David, have mercy on me. ⁴⁹ And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calls you. ⁵⁰ And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. ⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said unto him, What will you that I should do unto you? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

²⁴ Therefore I say unto you, whatever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you shall have them.

¹³ And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If you shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.

¹⁶ You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally, and reproaches not; and it shall be given him. ⁶ But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us: ¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we desired of him.
