² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

¹³ Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

¹⁵ That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world;

²⁴ And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

⁶ If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of rebellion or unruly. ⁷ For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, not violent, not given to dishonest gain; ⁸ But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good, sensible, just, holy, temperate; ⁹ Holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to refute the opposition.

² That the aged men be sensible, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience.

¹⁴ For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end;

² Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: be therefore sober minded, and watch unto prayer.

⁹ Practice hospitality one to another without grudging.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:
