¹ And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things. ² And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh: ³ And I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell: ⁴ But you shall go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac. ⁵ And the servant said unto him, Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring your son again unto the land from where you came? ⁶ And Abraham said unto him, Beware that you bring not my son there again. ⁷ The LORD God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke unto me, and that swore unto me, saying, Unto your descendants will I give this land; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife unto my son from there. ⁸ And if the woman will not be willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son there again. ⁹ And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning that matter. ¹⁰ And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor. ¹¹ And he made his camels to kneel down outside the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water. ¹² And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray you, send me good speed this day, and show kindness unto my master Abraham. ¹³ Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: ¹⁴ And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down your pitcher, I pray you, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give your camels drink also: let the same be she that you have appointed for your servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that you have showed kindness unto my master. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. ¹⁶ And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. ¹⁷ And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray you, drink a little water of your pitcher. ¹⁸ And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hastened, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. ¹⁹ And when she had finished giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking. ²⁰ And she hastened, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels. ²¹ And the man wondering at her held his peace, to learn whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not. ²² And it came to pass, as the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; ²³ And said, Whose daughter are you? tell me, I pray you: is there room in your father's house for us to lodge in? ²⁴ And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore unto Nahor. ²⁵ She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and fodder enough, and room to lodge in. ²⁶ And the man bowed down his head, and worshiped the LORD. ²⁷ And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who has not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's kinsmen. ²⁸ And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things. ²⁹ And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well. ³⁰ And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spoke the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well. ³¹ And he said, Come in, you blessed of the LORD; why stand you outside? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels. ³² And the man came into the house: and he unloaded his camels, and gave straw and fodder for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him. ³³ And there was set food before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told my errand. And he said, Speak on. ³⁴ And he said, I am Abraham's servant. ³⁵ And the LORD has blessed my master greatly; and he has become great: and he has given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and donkeys. ³⁶ And Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master when she was old: and unto him has he given all that he has. ³⁷ And my master made me swear, saying, You shall not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell: ³⁸ But you shall go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son. ³⁹ And I said unto my master, Perhaps the woman will not follow me. ⁴⁰ And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with you, and prosper your way; and you shall take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house: ⁴¹ Then shall you be clear from this my oath, when you come to my kindred; and if they give you not one, you shall be clear from my oath. ⁴² And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now you do prosper my way which I go: ⁴³ Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin comes forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray you, a little water of your pitcher to drink; ⁴⁴ And she says to me, Both drink, and I will also draw for your camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD has appointed out for my master's son. ⁴⁵ And before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray you. ⁴⁶ And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give your camels drink also: so I drank, and she made the camels drink also. ⁴⁷ And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter are you? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore unto him: and I put the ring upon her nose, and the bracelets upon her arms. ⁴⁸ And I bowed down my head, and worshiped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son. ⁴⁹ And now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left. ⁵⁰ Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceeds from the LORD: we cannot speak unto you bad or good. ⁵¹ Behold, Rebekah is before you, take her, and go, and let her be your master's son's wife, as the LORD has spoken. ⁵² And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshiped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth. ⁵³ And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things. ⁵⁴ And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master. ⁵⁵ And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go. ⁵⁶ And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD has prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master. ⁵⁷ And they said, We will call the damsel, and inquire at her mouth. ⁵⁸ And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Will you go with this man? And she said, I will go. ⁵⁹ And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men. ⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, You are our sister, be the mother of thousands of millions, and let your descendants possess the gate of those who hate them. ⁶¹ And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way. ⁶² And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the Negeb. ⁶³ And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming. ⁶⁴ And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she alighted from the camel. ⁶⁵ For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walks in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a veil, and covered herself. ⁶⁶ And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done. ⁶⁷ And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

² And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing:

² And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

⁵ And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.

³⁵ And the LORD has blessed my master greatly; and he has become great: and he has given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and donkeys.

²⁰ And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddanaram, the sister to Laban the Aramean.

²⁵ Even by the God of your father, who shall help you; and by the Almighty, who shall bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

¹ Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he got no heat.

¹ Praise you the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, that delights greatly in his commandments. ² His descendants shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. ³ Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endures forever.

²² The blessing of the LORD, it makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

² Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bore you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

³³ But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

⁷ And they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were now well advanced in years.

⁹ So then they who are of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

⁸ For bodily exercise profits for a little while: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

² And Abram said, Lord GOD, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

⁹ And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning that matter. ¹⁰ And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

⁴ And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. ⁵ And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. ⁶ And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not anything he had, except the food which he did eat. And Joseph was a handsome person, and well favored.

⁸ But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master knows not what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand; ⁹ There is none greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

¹ And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.

²⁹ And the time drew near that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in your sight, put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray you, in Egypt:

²⁴ And all the leaders, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

¹⁷ Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine.

² That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

⁴ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

¹⁹ And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

²² And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

²³ Now therefore swear unto me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto you, you shall do unto me, and to the land in which you have sojourned.

²⁸ And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with you: and we said, Let there be now an oath between us, even between us and you, and let us make a covenant with you; ²⁹ That you will do us no hurt, as we have not touched you, and as we have done unto you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace: you are now the blessed of the LORD. ³⁰ And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. ³¹ And they rose up early in the morning, and swore one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

³⁴ And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite: ³⁵ Who were a source of grief unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

⁴⁶ And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these who are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

⁸ And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

⁴⁴ Now therefore come, let us make a covenant, I and you; and let it be for a witness between me and you. ⁴⁵ And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar. ⁴⁶ And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made a heap: and they did eat there upon the heap. ⁴⁷ And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed. ⁴⁸ And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and you this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed; ⁴⁹ And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another. ⁵⁰ If you shall afflict my daughters, or if you shall take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness between me and you. ⁵¹ And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have set between me and you; ⁵² This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and that you shall not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm. ⁵³ The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us. And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.

²⁵ And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.

⁷ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.

¹¹ Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he has not put his hand unto his neighbor's goods; and the owner of it shall accept the oath, and he shall not make it good.

¹³ And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of your mouth.

¹⁶ And you take of their daughters unto your sons, and their daughters go play the harlot after their gods, and make your sons go play the harlot after their gods.

¹² And you shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.

²¹ Then the priest shall charge the woman to take an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make you a curse and an oath among your people, when the LORD does make your thigh to rot, and your belly to swell;

¹³ You shall fear the LORD your God, and serve him, and shall swear by his name.

³ Neither shall you make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give unto his son, nor his daughter shall you take unto your son. ⁴ For they will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy you suddenly.

²⁰ You shall fear the LORD your God; him shall you serve, and to him shall you cleave, and swear by his name.

¹² Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that you will also show kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true sign:

¹⁷ And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, who dwells between the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.

¹² Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build a house for the LORD, and a house for his kingdom.

⁶ You, even you, are LORD alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and you preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships you.

²⁵ And I contended with them, and pronounced them cursed, and struck certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, You shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.

¹⁵ You are blessed of the LORD who made heaven and earth.

²³ I have sworn by myself, the word has gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

¹ Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

¹⁶ That he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from my eyes.

² And you shall swear, The LORD lives, in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

¹¹ Thus shall you say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.

¹⁶ And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD lives; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.

⁵ And those that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and those that worship and that swear by the LORD, and yet swear by Milcom;

³⁹ The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

¹⁴ Be you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what partnership has light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what harmony has Christ with Belial? or what part has he that believes with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? for you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Therefore come out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

¹⁶ For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

²⁵ And Nahor lived after he begat Terah a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

⁷ And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your descendants will I give this land: and there built he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

²⁰ And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she has also borne children unto your brother Nahor; ²¹ Uz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram, ²² And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel. ²³ And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

² Arise, go to Paddanaram, to the house of Bethuel your mother's father; and take you a wife from there of the daughters of Laban your mother's brother.

⁵⁸ And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Will you go with this man? And she said, I will go.

² For if you refuse to let them go, and will hold them still,

¹⁶ Every prudent man deals with knowledge: but a fool lays open his folly.

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

³⁹ But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

⁹ By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. ¹⁴ For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. ¹⁵ And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from which they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he has prepared for them a city.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog has turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

¹ Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, unto a land that I will show you: ² And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: ³ And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed. ⁴ So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. ⁵ And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. ⁶ And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Shechem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land. ⁷ And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your descendants will I give this land: and there built he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

¹⁵ For all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your descendants forever.

¹⁸ In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto your descendants have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

⁸ And I will give unto you, and to your descendants after you, the land in which you are a sojourner, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

¹⁶ And said, By myself have I sworn, says the LORD, for because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son: ¹⁷ That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies; ¹⁸ And in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice.

³ Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for unto you, and unto your descendants, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I swore unto Abraham your father; ⁴ And I will make your descendants to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto your descendants all these countries; and in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

²⁴ And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham your father: fear not, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your descendants for my servant Abraham's sake.

⁵ And it shall be when the LORD shall bring you into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he swore unto your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.

²⁰ Behold, I send an Angel before you, to keep you in the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. ²¹ Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. ²² But if you shall indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto your enemies, and an adversary unto your adversaries. ²³ For my Angel shall go before you, and bring you in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said unto them, I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.

² And I will send an angel before you; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

¹⁶ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to give unto them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness.

³⁰ Doubtless you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore to make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

¹¹ Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

⁸ Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their descendants after them.

⁴ And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto your descendants: I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.

⁶ Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shall you divide for an inheritance the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give them.

¹ And the angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

² Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

⁸ I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will guide you with my eye.

⁷ The angel of the LORD encamps round about them that fear him, and delivers them.

²⁴ You shall guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

²⁰ Bless the LORD, you his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

⁹ And he said unto them, I am a Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who has made the sea and the dry land.

⁵ And he gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his descendants after him, when as yet he had no child.

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister to them who shall be heirs of salvation?

¹³ And the same hour there was a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the rest were frightened, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

⁴ But you shall go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac. ⁵ And the servant said unto him, Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring your son again unto the land from where you came? ⁶ And Abraham said unto him, Beware that you bring not my son there again.

⁵ But if her father forbids her in the day that he hears; not any of her vows, or of her bonds with which she has bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father forbade her.

⁸ But if her husband forbade her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, with which she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgive her.

¹⁷ And the men said unto her, We will be guiltless concerning this your oath which you have made us swear. ¹⁸ Behold, when we come into the land, you shall bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which you did let us down by: and you shall bring your father, and your mother, and your brethren, and all your father's household, home unto you. ¹⁹ And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him. ²⁰ And if you utter this our business, then we will be free of your oath which you have made us to swear.

²⁰ This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath come upon us, because of the oath which we swore to them.

³² And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

² And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,

² And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh:

³¹ And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

⁴³ Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee to Laban my brother to Haran;

¹ Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.

⁴ And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, from where are you? And they said, Of Haran are we. ⁵ And he said unto them, Do you know Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.

²² And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. ²³ The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

⁴ Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when you came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.

⁸ Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years. ⁹ And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother. ¹⁰ And the spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.

⁶ And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves repulsive to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire themselves chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Aram-maachah, and out of Zobah.

⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

¹³ Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: ¹⁴ And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down your pitcher, I pray you, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give your camels drink also: let the same be she that you have appointed for your servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that you have showed kindness unto my master. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. ¹⁶ And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. ¹⁷ And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray you, drink a little water of your pitcher. ¹⁸ And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hastened, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. ¹⁹ And when she had finished giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking. ²⁰ And she hastened, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.

¹³ And he said unto him, My lord knows that the children are frail, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die. ¹⁴ Let my lord, I pray you, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on slowly, according as the flocks that go before me and the children are able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.

¹⁶ Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.

¹¹ And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?

¹⁰ A righteous man regards the life of his animal: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

⁷ There came a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus said unto her, Give me to drink.

¹ After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am your shield, and your exceeding great reward.

⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto you, and to your descendants after you. ⁸ And I will give unto you, and to your descendants after you, the land in which you are a sojourner, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

²⁷ And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who has not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's kinsmen.

⁴² And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now you do prosper my way which I go:

⁴⁸ And I bowed down my head, and worshiped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.

¹⁰ And you shall bring it to your father, that he may eat, and that he may bless you before his death.

²⁰ And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD your God brought it to me.

¹³ And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which you lie, to you will I give it, and to your descendants;

⁴² Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely you would have sent me away now empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.

⁹ And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD who said unto me, Return unto your country, and to your kindred, and I will deal well with you:

¹⁴ And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

⁶ Moreover he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

¹⁵ And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

³⁶ And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.

¹⁴ And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had struck the waters, they parted to the one side and to the other: and Elisha went over.

¹¹ O Lord, I beseech you, let now your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who desire to fear your name: and prosper, I pray you, your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.

⁴ Then the king said unto me, For what do you make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

⁵ Commit your way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

¹⁶ Let your work appear unto your servants, and your glory unto their children. ¹⁷ And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish you the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish it.

²⁵ Save now, I beseech you, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech you, send now prosperity.

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love you.

¹ [A song of ascents. Of Solomon.] Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain that build it: unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchman wakes, but in vain.

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.

³² I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

¹⁰ Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? ¹¹ Now God himself even our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

¹¹ And he made his camels to kneel down outside the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.

⁴³ Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin comes forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray you, a little water of your pitcher to drink;

⁹ And while he yet spoke with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep: for she kept them. ¹⁰ And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.

¹¹ They that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

⁸ And he said, Lord GOD, how shall I know that I shall inherit it?

⁴⁴ And she says to me, Both drink, and I will also draw for your camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD has appointed out for my master's son.

¹ And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD has not appeared unto you. ² And the LORD said unto him, What is that in your hand? And he said, A rod. ³ And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. ⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: ⁵ That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared unto you. ⁶ And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now your hand into your bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was as leprous as snow. ⁷ And he said, Put your hand into your bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and took it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. ⁸ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe you, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. ⁹ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which you take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

¹⁷ And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in your sight, then show me a sign that you talk with me.

³⁷ Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside it, then shall I know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said.

¹³ And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and struck it so that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay flat. ¹⁴ And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else except the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand has God delivered Midian, and all the host. ¹⁵ And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshiped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD has delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

⁵ And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray you, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

⁷ Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milk cows, on which there has come no yoke, and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them: ⁸ And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which you return to him for a trespass offering, in a box by the side of it; and send it away, that it may go. ⁹ And see, if it goes up by the way of its own land to Bethshemesh, then he has done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that struck us: it was by chance that it happened to us.

² When you are departed from me today, then you shall find two men by Rachel's sepulcher in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto you, The donkeys which you went to seek are found: and, lo, your father has left the concern of the donkeys, and sorrows for you, saying, What shall I do for my son? ³ Then shall you go on forward from there, and you shall come to the oak of Tabor, and there shall meet you three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a skin of wine: ⁴ And they will greet you, and give you two loaves of bread; which you shall receive of their hands. ⁵ After that you shall come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when you are come there to the city, that you shall meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a harp, and a tambourine, and a flute, and a lyre, before them; and they shall prophesy: ⁶ And the spirit of the LORD will come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man. ⁷ And let it be, when these signs are come unto you, that you do as the occasion suits you; for God is with you. ⁸ And you shall go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto you, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shall you tarry, till I come to you, and show you what you shall do. ⁹ And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day. ¹⁰ And when they came there to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

⁸ Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will reveal ourselves unto them. ⁹ If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them. ¹⁰ But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up: for the LORD has delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.

⁷ If he say thus, It is well; your servant shall have peace: but if he is very angry, then be sure that evil is determined by him.

²⁴ And let it be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall move quickly: for then shall the LORD go out before you, to strike the army of the Philistines.

⁹ And Joab said to Amasa, Are you in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.

⁸ And Hezekiah had said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? ⁹ And Isaiah said, This sign shall you have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? ¹⁰ And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. ¹¹ And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz.

¹⁴ House and riches are the inheritance from fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

¹¹ Ask a sign of the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

¹⁰ Making request, if by any means now at last I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

²⁷ Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

²⁹ And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

¹⁴ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a skin of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

²⁴ And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore unto Nahor.

⁴⁵ And before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray you.

⁹ And while he yet spoke with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep: for she kept them.

³⁶ And Gideon said unto God, If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said, ³⁷ Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside it, then shall I know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said. ³⁸ And it was so: for he rose up early the next day, and squeezed the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said unto God, Let not your anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me test, I pray you, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. ⁴⁰ And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

² And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

¹⁷ So she gleaned in the field until evening, and beat out what she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

² O you that hears prayer, unto you shall all flesh come.

¹⁸ The LORD is near unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. ¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

²⁷ She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness.

⁹ Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness;

²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

²⁰ And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; ²¹ Yea, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering. ²² And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give you skill and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of your supplications the commandment came forth, and I have come to show you; for you are greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

¹ And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

⁷ And the men of the place asked him about his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

⁶ And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not anything he had, except the food which he did eat. And Joseph was a handsome person, and well favored.

¹⁷ Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that has known man by lying with him. ¹⁸ But all the young girls, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

² I sleep, but my heart wakes: it is the voice of my beloved that knocks, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

¹ And there was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. ² And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell you of: ³ Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for unto you, and unto your descendants, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I swore unto Abraham your father; ⁴ And I will make your descendants to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto your descendants all these countries; and in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; ⁵ Because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. ⁶ And Isaac dwelt in Gerar: ⁷ And the men of the place asked him about his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon. ⁸ And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was caressing Rebekah his wife. ⁹ And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a truth she is your wife: and how said you, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her. ¹⁰ And Abimelech said, What is this you have done unto us? one of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guiltiness upon us. ¹¹ And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death. ¹² Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year a hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. ¹³ And the man became great, and advanced, and grew until he became very great: ¹⁴ For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and a great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. ¹⁵ For all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth. ¹⁶ And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for you are much mightier than we. ¹⁷ And Isaac departed from there, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. ¹⁸ And Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. ¹⁹ And Isaac's servants dug in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. ²⁰ And the herdsmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdsmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. ²¹ And they dug another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. ²² And he removed from there, and dug another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. ²³ And he went up from there to Beersheba. ²⁴ And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham your father: fear not, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your descendants for my servant Abraham's sake. ²⁵ And he built an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants dug a well. ²⁶ Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phicol the chief captain of his army. ²⁷ And Isaac said unto them, Why come you to me, seeing you hate me, and have sent me away from you? ²⁸ And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with you: and we said, Let there be now an oath between us, even between us and you, and let us make a covenant with you; ²⁹ That you will do us no hurt, as we have not touched you, and as we have done unto you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace: you are now the blessed of the LORD. ³⁰ And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. ³¹ And they rose up early in the morning, and swore one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace. ³² And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac's servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had dug, and said unto him, We have found water. ³³ And he called it Shibah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day.

¹⁰ So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

¹⁴ The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they met with their bread him that fled.

²⁵ And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

⁶ Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break forth, and streams in the desert. ⁷ And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of jackals, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

¹⁷ When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongues fail for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. ¹⁸ I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he that has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

⁹ Then said the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

¹⁴ And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down your pitcher, I pray you, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give your camels drink also: let the same be she that you have appointed for your servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that you have showed kindness unto my master.

²⁶ She opens her mouth with wisdom; and on her tongue is the law of kindness.

⁸ Finally, be all of one mind, having compassion one with another, love as brethren, be tender hearted, be courteous:

⁸ And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover a multitude of sins. ⁹ Practice hospitality one to another without grudging.

⁴⁵ And before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray you. ⁴⁶ And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give your camels drink also: so I drank, and she made the camels drink also.

⁹ Practice hospitality one to another without grudging.

¹² And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray you, send me good speed this day, and show kindness unto my master Abraham.

⁵⁶ And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD has prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.

¹⁸ Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? ¹⁹ And this was yet a small thing in your sight, O Lord GOD; but you have spoken also of your servant’s house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD? ²⁰ And what can David say more unto you? for you, Lord GOD, know your servant.

²³ And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

¹⁵ And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

⁴ Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: ⁵ And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort your hearts; after that you shall pass on: for therefore are you come to your servant. And they said, So do, as you have said. ⁶ And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. ⁷ And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hastened to dress it. ⁸ And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

¹⁹ Yet there is both straw and fodder for our donkeys; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for your handmaid, and for the young man who is with your servants: there is no lack of any thing. ²⁰ And the old man said, Peace be with you; however let all your needs lie upon me; only lodge not in the street. ²¹ So he brought him into his house, and gave fodder unto the donkeys: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.

⁸ But the noble plans noble things; and by noble things shall he stand.

⁵ And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide you here with the donkey; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

⁵² And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshiped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.

³¹ And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

²⁷ That you shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshiped.

⁸ And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.

²⁰ And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshiped the LORD, and the king.

¹⁸ And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshiping the LORD.

³⁰ Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

⁶ And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

²⁹ All the prosperous of earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

⁴ All the earth shall worship you, and shall sing unto you; they shall sing to your name. Selah.

⁹ They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

⁶ O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

⁶ With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?

¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

²⁶ And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

⁸ And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray you, between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren.

²⁰ And blessed be the most high God, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

⁴ But you shall go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

²¹ And the man wondering at her held his peace, to learn whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

²⁸ And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king.

¹⁰ Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be you, LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever. ¹¹ Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. ¹² Both riches and honor come from you, and you reign over all; and in your hand is power and might; and in your hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. ¹³ Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.

¹⁹ Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

¹⁸ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only does wondrous things. ¹⁹ And blessed be his glorious name forever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

³ He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁵ For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.

⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, You are our sister, be the mother of thousands of millions, and let your descendants possess the gate of those who hate them.

⁵ And he said unto them, Do you know Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.

¹³ And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.

²⁹ That you will do us no hurt, as we have not touched you, and as we have done unto you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace: you are now the blessed of the LORD.

² And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you, about which you cursed, and spoke of also in my ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be you of the LORD, my son.

¹⁰ And he said, Blessed be you of the LORD, my daughter: for you have showed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, in that you followed not young men, whether poor or rich.

⁸ A bribe is as a magic stone in the eyes of him that gives it: wherever he turns, he prospers.

¹⁶ A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.

⁴ Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

² And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and you shall rise up early, and go on your way. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

²⁴ And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their donkeys provender.

²¹ So he brought him into his house, and gave fodder unto the donkeys: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.

⁴¹ And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let your handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

⁴⁴ And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, See this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my feet: but she has washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

⁴ He rose from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. ⁵ After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. ⁶ Then came he to Simon Peter: and Peter said unto him, Lord, do you wash my feet? ⁷ Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do you know not now; but you shall know hereafter. ⁸ Peter said unto him, You shall never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash you not, you have no part with me. ⁹ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, He that is washed needs not except to wash his feet, but is clean completely: and you are clean, but not all. ¹¹ For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, You are not all clean. ¹² So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was seated again, he said unto them, Know you what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord: and you say rightly; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet.

¹⁰ Well reported of for good works; if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

¹² Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

³ Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; ⁴ I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids, ⁵ Until I find out a place for the LORD, a habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

²⁹ See you a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.

¹⁰ Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you go.

¹⁴ But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

³¹ In the meanwhile his disciples besought him, saying, Teacher, eat. ³² But he said unto them, I have food to eat that you know not of. ³³ Therefore said the disciples one to another, has any man brought him anything to eat? ³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

⁵ Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; ⁶ Not with eye service, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; ⁷ With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: ⁸ Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man does, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

² And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are believers and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

¹⁶ And he treated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and male donkeys, and menservants, and maidservants, and female donkeys, and camels.

¹ And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.

¹¹ And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.

³ His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

¹⁰ And the LORD restored the fortunes of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. ¹¹ Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they consoled him, and comforted him over all the trouble that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and everyone a ring of gold. ¹² So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.

³⁵ You have also given me the shield of your salvation: and your right hand has held me up, and your gentleness has made me great.

³⁸ He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and permits not their cattle to decrease.

³ Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endures forever.

⁴ By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.

²⁹ And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. ³⁰ But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

¹⁵ And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. ¹⁶ And I will bless her, and give you a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall come from her. ¹⁷ Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? ¹⁸ And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before you! ¹⁹ And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed; and you shall call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

¹⁰ And he said, I will certainly return unto you according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah your wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. ¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. ¹² Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I have grown old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? ¹³ And the LORD said unto Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a certainty bear a child, who am old? ¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

¹ And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. ² For Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. ³ And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. ⁴ And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. ⁵ And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. ⁶ And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. ⁷ And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have nursed children? for I have borne him a son in his old age.

¹⁰ Therefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

⁵ And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

¹⁹ And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body as now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:

² And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh: ³ And I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell: ⁴ But you shall go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac. ⁵ And the servant said unto him, Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring your son again unto the land from where you came? ⁶ And Abraham said unto him, Beware that you bring not my son there again. ⁷ The LORD God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke unto me, and that swore unto me, saying, Unto your descendants will I give this land; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife unto my son from there. ⁸ And if the woman will not be willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son there again. ⁹ And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning that matter.

⁴⁶ And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these who are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

¹ Now when these things were done, the leaders came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, in regard to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. ² For they have taken of their daughters as wives for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy race has mixed itself with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the leaders and rulers has been foremost in this trespass. ³ And when I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down appalled.

¹ Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, unto a land that I will show you:

¹⁹ And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.

⁵ And the servant said unto him, Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring your son again unto the land from where you came?

²² And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

²⁴ And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

⁹ These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

¹ And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be you perfect.

⁷ The LORD God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke unto me, and that swore unto me, saying, Unto your descendants will I give this land; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife unto my son from there.

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who fed me all my life long unto this day,

²⁰ Behold, I send an Angel before you, to keep you in the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

³ And keep the charge of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and wherever you turn yourself:

²³ And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keeps covenant and mercy with your servants that walk before you with all their heart:

³ I beseech you, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper.

⁸ I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

²⁸ Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

⁸ And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

¹⁶ I Jesus have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

⁸ And if the woman will not be willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son there again.

¹² That you should enter into covenant with the LORD your God, and into his oath, which the LORD your God makes with you this day:

¹² And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray you, send me good speed this day, and show kindness unto my master Abraham. ¹³ Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: ¹⁴ And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down your pitcher, I pray you, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give your camels drink also: let the same be she that you have appointed for your servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that you have showed kindness unto my master.

³¹ And he said, Come in, you blessed of the LORD; why stand you outside? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.

³ And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

²¹ Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our possessions.

¹⁷ And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish you the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish it.

⁷ And when the angel who spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; ⁸ And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

²² And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that fears God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for you to come into his house, and to hear words from you.

²² And from the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

³³ The lot is cast into the lap; but its every decision is of the LORD.

²² Whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD.

¹⁰ But (as becomes women professing godliness) with good works.

² Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

¹³ Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunk. ¹⁴ And Eli said unto her, How long will you be drunk? put away your wine from you. ¹⁵ And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

²⁷ For you, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, saying, I will build you a house: therefore has your servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto you.

¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for your own sake, O my God: for your city and your people are called by your name.

²³ At the beginning of your supplications the commandment came forth, and I have come to show you; for you are greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

²⁴ And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, you are God, who has made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them: ²⁵ Who by the mouth of your servant David has said, Why did the nations rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ²⁷ For of a truth against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ To do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done. ²⁹ And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto your servants, that with all boldness they may speak your word, ³⁰ By stretching forth your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy child Jesus. ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. ³² And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that any of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. ³³ And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

³⁰ And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

¹² And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. ¹³ And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a maid came to answer, named Rhoda. ¹⁴ And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. ¹⁵ And they said unto her, You are mad. But she continued to affirm that it was so. Then they said, It is his angel. ¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished. ¹⁷ But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go show these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

¹⁸ And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hastened, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. ¹⁹ And when she had finished giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.

²² And it came to pass, as the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; ²³ And said, Whose daughter are you? tell me, I pray you: is there room in your father's house for us to lodge in? ²⁴ And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore unto Nahor.

⁵³ And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

⁹ Kings' daughters were among your honorable women: at your right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

¹³ The king's daughter is all glorious within the palace: her clothing is of woven gold. ¹⁴ She shall be brought unto the king in robes of needlework: the virgins, her companions that follow her, shall be brought unto you.

³ You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. ⁴ You shall no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate: but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah: for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married. ⁵ For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you: and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

¹⁰ I clothed you also with embroidered work, and gave you sandals of badgers’ skin, and I clothed you with fine linen, and I covered you with silk. ¹¹ I adorned you also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon your hands, and a chain on your neck. ¹² And I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown upon your head. ¹³ Thus were you adorned with gold and silver; and your clothing was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered work; you did eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and you were exceedingly beautiful, and you did prosper into a kingdom.

²⁶ That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

²⁶ And the man bowed down his head, and worshiped the LORD. ²⁷ And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who has not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's kinsmen.

²⁰ And you shall teach them ordinances and laws, and shall show them the way in which they must walk, and the work that they must do.

¹⁴ For this God is our God forever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

⁷ And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

¹¹ I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.

¹⁷ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.

¹⁷ Let us pass, I pray you, through your country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's highway, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your borders.

²⁷ Let me pass through your land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

¹⁴ And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if you utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.

³ Let not mercy and truth forsake you: bind them about your neck; write them upon the table of your heart:

²⁸ And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things.

²⁴ And God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that you speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

²⁹ It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spoke unto me last night, saying, Take heed that you speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

²² And Absalom spoke unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

²³ This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

⁴² Jesus said unto them, Did you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

¹¹ This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

¹⁷ If then God gave them the same gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; who was I, that I could withstand God?

¹⁵ And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before you: dwell where it pleases you.

¹⁰ And the king said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD has said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why have you done so?

²⁶ And the man bowed down his head, and worshiped the LORD.

¹ [A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.] I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. ² My soul shall make its boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! ²² And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

¹ I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. ² Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

¹¹ And when they came into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

²⁵ And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshiped him. ²⁶ But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

¹⁰ And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

²² And it came to pass, as the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;

²² But every woman shall request of her neighbor, and of her that sojourns in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing: and you shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and you shall spoil the Egyptians.

² Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man request of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.

³⁵ And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they requested of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing:

¹³ And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD be his land, with the precious things of heaven, with the dew, and the deep lying beneath, ¹⁴ And with the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and with the precious things put forth by the moon, ¹⁵ And with the chief things of the ancient mountains, and with the precious things of the lasting hills, ¹⁶ And with the precious things of the earth and the fullness thereof, and the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.

³ And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.

⁶ And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with articles of silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.

¹³ Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; henna, with spikenard,

² And Hezekiah was pleased with them, and showed them the house of his treasures, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armory, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.

⁵⁹ And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men.

⁵ And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Paddanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother. ⁶ When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Paddanaram, to take him a wife from there; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

²⁴ So he sent his brothers away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that you fall not out by the way.

¹⁹ Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD has avenged him of his enemies.

²⁷ And the watchman said, I think the running of the first one is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok. And the king said, He is a good man, and comes with good tidings. ²⁸ And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king.

¹⁰ Say you not, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for you do not inquire wisely concerning this.

³⁸ Now the man out of whom the demons were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, ³⁹ Return to your own house, and show what great things God has done unto you. And he went his way, and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done unto him.

³ And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

²⁹ And if a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.

⁸ And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion.

⁹ Haste you, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not: ¹⁰ And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near unto me, you, and your children, and your children's children, and your flocks, and your herds, and all that you have: ¹¹ And there will I nourish you; for yet there are five years of famine; lest you, and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty. ¹² And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks unto you. ¹³ And you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen; and you shall haste and bring down my father here.

⁸ This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

²⁵ As cold water is to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

¹⁵ I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

¹⁰ Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear; forget also your own people, and your father's house; ¹¹ So shall the king greatly desire your beauty: since he is your Lord, worship him.

³⁸ And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to your word. And the angel departed from her.

⁵⁰ Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceeds from the LORD: we cannot speak unto you bad or good.

⁸ But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbacuth.

¹² Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that you should say unto me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse bears the nursing child, unto the land which you swore to give unto their fathers?

⁵ For neither at any time used we flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness; God is witness:

²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

¹ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth.

¹⁶ And I will bless her, and give you a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall come from her.

¹⁷ That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies;

³ And God Almighty bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, that you may be a multitude of people;

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who fed me all my life long unto this day, ¹⁶ The Angel who redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be perpetuated in them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

²⁰ And he blessed them that day, saying, In you shall Israel bless, saying, God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

⁴⁶ And you shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your slaves forever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, you shall not rule one over another with harshness.

¹⁹ Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

¹¹ And all the people that were at the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and may you do worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem: ¹² And let your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore unto Judah, of the children which the LORD shall give you of this young woman.

¹⁰ A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

³⁴ Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's saddle, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not.

¹⁷ And David struck them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, except four hundred young men, who rode upon camels, and fled.

¹⁰ And he wrote in king Ahasuerus' name, and sealed it with the king's ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback, and riding on royal horses bred from swift horses:

¹⁴ So the couriers that rode upon royal horses went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king's command. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

¹⁰ Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear; forget also your own people, and your father's house;

⁹ And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the Negeb.

¹⁴ Therefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

¹ And Abraham journeyed from there toward the Negeb, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

² But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law does he meditate day and night.

¹¹ I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember your wonders of old. ¹² I will meditate also on all your work, and talk of your doings.

³⁴ My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

¹⁵ I will meditate in your precepts, and have respect unto your ways.

²⁷ Make me to understand the way of your precepts: so shall I talk of your wondrous works.

⁴⁸ My hands also will I lift up unto your commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in your statutes.

¹⁷ How precious also are your thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! ¹⁸ If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with you.

⁵ I remember the days of old; I meditate on all your works; I ponder on the work of your hands. ⁶ I stretch forth my hands unto you: my soul thirsts after you, as a thirsty land. Selah.

⁵ I will speak of the glorious honor of your majesty, and of your wondrous works.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she dismounted off her donkey; and Caleb said unto her, What do you wish?

¹⁴ And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she got down from her donkey; and Caleb said unto her, What do you want?

¹⁶ And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to you a vindication of the eyes, unto all that are with you, and with all others: thus she was righted.

⁵ But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head: for that is one and the same as if she were shaven. ⁶ For if the woman is not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

¹⁰ For this cause ought the woman to have authority on her head because of the angels.

⁹ In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with decency and propriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

⁶ And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.

⁹ And they said unto him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. ¹⁰ And he said, I will certainly return unto you according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah your wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.

¹ And Sarah was a hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah. ² And Sarah died in Kiriatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

¹⁸ And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter.

³⁵ And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

¹² And in process of time the daughter of Shua Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheep shearers to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.

² I would lead you, and bring you into my mother's house, who had instructed me: I would cause you to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.

¹ Sing, O barren, you that did not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you that did not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, says the LORD. ² Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of your habitations: spare not, lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes; ³ For you shall break forth on the right hand and on the left; and your descendants shall inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. ⁴ Fear not; for you shall not be ashamed: neither be you confounded; for you shall not be put to shame: for you shall forget the shame of your youth, and shall not remember the reproach of your widowhood any more. ⁵ For your Maker is your husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and your Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

¹ I wish that you could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. ² For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

²² Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. ²⁴ Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. ²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; ²⁶ That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. ²⁸ So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself. ²⁹ For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the church: ³⁰ For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. ³¹ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. ³² This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. ³³ Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she respect her husband.

¹³ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them who are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others who have no hope.

¹⁵ For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede them who are asleep.
