¹³ In that he says, A new covenant, he has made the first old. Now that which decays and grows old is ready to vanish away.

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall grow old like a garment, and they that dwell in it shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

⁸ Love never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

¹⁷ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

¹¹ If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron? ¹² For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

¹⁸ For there is verily an annulment of the previous commandment because of the weakness and uselessness thereof. ¹⁹ For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by which we draw near unto God.

⁹ Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; ¹⁰ Which stood only in foods and drinks, and various washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new covenant, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they who are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
