² Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfies not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat you that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in richness.

²⁶ And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that heals you.

¹³ And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

²⁶ The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live forever.

¹¹ Come, you children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

⁸ They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fullness of your house; and you shall make them drink of the river of your pleasures.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips:

³³ But whosoever hearkens unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be secure from the fear of evil.

²³ Till an arrow strikes through his liver; as a bird hastens to the snare, and knows not that it is for his life.

³² Now therefore hearken unto me, O you children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

⁵ Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mixed.

² A man to whom God has given riches, wealth, and honor, so that he wants nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God gives him not power to eat of it, but a stranger eats it: this is vanity, and it is an evil affliction.

¹⁹ If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land:

⁶ And on this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of rich things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

²⁰ He feeds on ashes: a deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

⁶ They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.

¹ Hearken to me, you that follow after righteousness, you that seek the LORD: look unto the rock from where you were hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.

⁴ Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my justice to rest for a light of the people.

⁷ Hearken unto me, you that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear you not the reproach of men, neither be you afraid of their revilings.

¹³ For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed themselves out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

¹⁴ And I will fill to the full the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD.

⁷ For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: the stalk has no bud: it shall yield no meal: if so be it does yield, the aliens shall swallow it up.

¹ Ephraim feeds on wind, and follows after the east wind: he daily increases lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

¹³ Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labor to feed the fire, and the people shall weary themselves in vain?

⁹ But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them who are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

¹⁴ And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:

¹⁵ And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. ¹⁶ And he would gladly have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

²³ And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

⁴⁸ I am that bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whosoever eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live forever.

³¹ But Israel, who followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.

² For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

¹⁷ So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

⁴ Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has reasons he might trust in the flesh, I more: ⁵ Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; ⁶ Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. ⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

⁹ Be not carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with foods, which have not profited them that have been observing them.
