1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashhur the son of Malchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Mahseiah the priest, saying,
2 Inquire, I pray you, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
3 Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall you say to Zedekiah:
4 Thus says the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, who besiege you outside the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city.
5 And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
6 And I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
7 And afterward, says the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.
8 And unto this people you shall say, Thus says the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
9 He that abides in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goes out, and falls to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prize.
10 For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, says the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
11 And concerning the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear you the word of the LORD;
12 O house of David, thus says the LORD; Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him that is plundered out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
13 Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, says the LORD; who say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?
14 But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, says the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in its forest, and it shall devour all things round about it.

3 Therefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may attack Gibeon: for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

1 [A Psalm of Solomon.] Give the king your judgments, O God, and your righteousness unto the king's son.
2 He shall judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.

Psalms 105:5-45
5 Remember his marvelous works that he has done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
6 O you offspring of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen.
7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
11 Saying, Unto you will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:
12 When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.
13 When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;
14 He allowed no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
15 Saying, Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
16 Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he broke every staff of bread.
17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:
18 Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in irons:
19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tested him.
20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.
21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:
22 To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his elders wisdom.
23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.
25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants.
26 He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.
27 They showed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.
29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
30 Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats in all their country.
32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.
33 He struck their vines also and their fig trees; and broke the trees of their country.
34 He spoke, and the locusts came, and young locusts, and that without number,
35 And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.
36 He struck also all the firstborn in their land, the first of all their strength.
37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.
39 He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.
40 The people asked, and he brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.
43 And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:
44 And gave them the lands of the nations: and they inherited the labor of the people;
45 That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise you the LORD.

10 To him that struck Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endures forever:
11 And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endures forever:
12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm: for his mercy endures forever.
13 To him who divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endures forever:
14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endures forever:
15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endures forever.
16 To him who led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endures forever.
17 To him who struck great kings: for his mercy endures forever:
18 And slew famous kings: for his mercy endures forever:
19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endures forever:
20 And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endures forever:
21 And gave their land for a heritage: for his mercy endures forever:
22 Even a heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endures forever.
23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endures forever:
24 And has redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endures forever.
25 Who gives food to all flesh: for his mercy endures forever.
26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endures forever.
