¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he entered, and his disciples. ² And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus often met there with his disciples. ³ Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons. ⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek you? ⁵ They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said unto them, I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them. ⁶ As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. ⁷ Then asked he them again, Whom seek you? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. ⁸ Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore you seek me, let these go their way: ⁹ That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Of them which you gave me have I lost none. ¹⁰ Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. ¹¹ Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up your sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it? ¹² Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, ¹³ And led him away to Annas first; for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest that same year. ¹⁴ Now Caiaphas was he, who gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. ¹⁵ And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest. ¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door outside. Then went out that other disciple, who was known unto the high priest, and spoke unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. ¹⁷ Then said the girl that kept the door unto Peter, Are not you also one of this man's disciples? He said, I am not. ¹⁸ And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself. ¹⁹ The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. ²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always met; and in secret have I said nothing. ²¹ Why do you ask me? Ask them who heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said. ²² And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answer you the high priest so? ²³ Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why strike me? ²⁴ Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest. ²⁵ And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not. ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, being the kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did not I see you in the garden with him? ²⁷ Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crowed. ²⁸ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. ²⁹ Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring you against this man? ³⁰ They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto you. ³¹ Then said Pilate unto them, Take him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: ³² That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die. ³³ Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Are you the King of the Jews? ³⁴ Jesus answered him, Say you this thing of yourself, or did others tell it to you of me? ³⁵ Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you unto me: what have you done? ³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from here. ³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice. ³⁸ Pilate said unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and said unto them, I find in him no fault at all. ³⁹ But you have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will you therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews? ⁴⁰ Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

¹⁵ And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to work it and to keep it.

²³ Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.

²³ And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.

¹³ And also Maachah his grandmother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image on an idol pole; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

⁶ And he brought out the idol pole from the house of the LORD, outside Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small into powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.

¹² And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king pull down, and broke them down from there, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.

¹⁶ And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an abominable image on an idol pole: and Asa cut down her idol, and crushed it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

¹⁴ And they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

⁴⁰ And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more forever.

³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

³⁶ Then came Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and said unto the disciples, Sit you here, while I go and pray yonder.

³² And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he said to his disciples, Sit here, while I shall pray.

³⁹ And he came out, and went, as was his custom, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. ⁴⁰ And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that you enter not into temptation.

³¹ Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. ³² If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall immediately glorify him. ³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Where I go, you cannot come; so now I say to you. ³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. ³⁵ By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.

¹ Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. ² In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. ⁴ And where I go you know, and the way you know. ⁵ Thomas said unto him, Lord, we know not where you go; and how can we know the way? ⁶ Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me. ⁷ If you had known me, you would have known my Father also: and from henceforth you know him, and have seen him. ⁸ Philip said unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it will satisfy us. ⁹ Jesus said unto him, Have I been so long a time with you, and yet have you not known me, Philip? he that has seen me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father? ¹⁰ Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwells in me, he does the works. ¹¹ Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. ¹² Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. ¹³ And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If you shall ask anything in my name, I will do it. ¹⁵ If you love me, keep my commandments. ¹⁶ And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; ¹⁷ Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, being the kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did not I see you in the garden with him?

¹¹ And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked around upon all things, and now the evening was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve. ¹² And on the next day, when they had come from Bethany, he was hungry:

³⁷ And in the daytime he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

³⁹ And he came out, and went, as was his custom, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

¹² Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round about.

⁴⁷ And while he yet spoke, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. ⁴⁹ And immediately he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Teacher; and kissed him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said unto him, Friend, why are you come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. ⁵¹ And, behold, one of them who was with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. ⁵² Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again your sword into its place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. ⁵³ Think you that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? ⁵⁵ In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are you come out as against a thief with swords and clubs to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and you laid no hold on me. ⁵⁶ But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

⁴³ And immediately, while he yet spoke, came Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. ⁴⁴ And he that betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. ⁴⁵ And as soon as he came, he went immediately to him, and said, Teacher, Teacher; and kissed him. ⁴⁶ And they laid their hands on him, and took him. ⁴⁷ And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. ⁴⁸ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are you come out, as against a thief, with swords and with clubs to take me? ⁴⁹ I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled. ⁵⁰ And they all forsook him, and fled.

⁴⁷ And while he yet spoke, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. ⁴⁸ But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betray you the Son of man with a kiss? ⁴⁹ When they who were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? ⁵⁰ And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. ⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said, No more of this. And he touched his ear, and healed him. ⁵² Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, who were come to him, Do you come out, as against a thief, with swords and clubs? ⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, you stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

² And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

²⁷ And after the morsel Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, What you do, do quickly. ²⁸ Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spoke this unto him. ²⁹ For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. ³⁰ He then having received the morsel went immediately out: and it was night.

¹² Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

¹⁶ Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.

¹⁰ As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found you not.

¹⁴ And now you say, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me. ¹⁵ And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him today. ¹⁶ So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah. ¹⁷ And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Are you he that troubles Israel? ¹⁸ And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but you, and your father’s house, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and you have followed Baalim.

¹¹ And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.

⁶ I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

³ Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

¹ The wicked flee when no man pursues: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

²¹ From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ²³ And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceedingly sorry.

¹⁸ Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, ¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

² You know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

²¹ And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

³¹ Then said Jesus unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

³³ Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: ³⁴ And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

³¹ Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. ³² For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit on: ³³ And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

⁶ He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee, ⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who would betray him.

¹⁷ Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. ¹⁸ No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

¹¹ For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, You are not all clean.

⁷ Then asked he them again, Whom seek you? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.

²⁸ You have made known to me the ways of life; you shall make me full of joy with your countenance.

²⁴ And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, you are God, who has made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them: ²⁵ Who by the mouth of your servant David has said, Why did the nations rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ²⁷ For of a truth against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ To do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done.

²² And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: ²³ Except that the Holy Spirit witnesses in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.

¹ Since therefore Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

⁹ The look on their countenance does witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have brought evil unto themselves.

¹² Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their punishment they shall be cast down, says the LORD.

²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

⁴⁶ And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said unto him, Come and see.

¹⁹ And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

⁹ Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of a hill. And he spoke unto him, You man of God, the king has said, Come down. ¹⁰ And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty men. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹¹ Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus has the king said, Come down quickly. ¹² And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty men. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹³ And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty men. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray you, let my life, and the life of these fifty men your servants, be precious in your sight. ¹⁴ Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in your sight. ¹⁵ And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.

² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

¹⁴ Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

² Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt. ³ Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.

⁵ Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

⁵⁴ And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, will you that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did? ⁵⁵ But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of. ⁵⁶ For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

²⁹ And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto your servants, that with all boldness they may speak your word, ³⁰ By stretching forth your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy child Jesus.

⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek you?

⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

⁵⁶ But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

⁵⁰ And they all forsook him, and fled. ⁵¹ And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: ⁵² And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

²⁸ And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

³⁶ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, where do you go? Jesus answered him, Where I go, you cannot follow me now; but you shall follow me afterwards.

³² Behold, the hour comes, yea, is now come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

¹³ There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

⁷ Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.

¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name: those that you gave me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

⁸ For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is fully mixed; and he pours out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall drain them down, and drink them.

³¹ You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into your hand.

²² But Jesus answered and said, You know not what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They said unto him, We are able.

³⁹ And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.

⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, your will be done.

³⁸ But Jesus said unto them, You know not what you ask: can you drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? ³⁹ And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, You shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized shall you be baptized:

³⁵ And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. ³⁶ And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto you; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what you will.

³⁰ For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that you have need of these things.

⁴² Saying, Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.

⁴¹ Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me. ⁴² And I knew that you hear me always: but because of the people who stand by I said it, that they may believe that you have sent me.

²⁷ Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify your name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

²⁴ Father, I will that they also, whom you have given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which you have given me: for you loved me before the foundation of the world.

³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from here.

¹⁷ Jesus said unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

¹⁵ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: ¹⁷ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, so that we may be also glorified together. ¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

⁷ By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

⁴ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

² Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of him: ⁶ For whom the Lord loves he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives. ⁷ If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chastens not? ⁸ But if you be without chastisement, of which all are partakers, then are you illegitimate children, and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

⁹ And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

³ And he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

²¹ But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of bronze; and he did grind in the prison house.

²⁷ God is the LORD, who has showed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

⁵⁷ And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

² And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

⁵³ And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

¹ And immediately in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

⁵⁴ Then they took him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

³ Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

³¹ And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

³⁷ And as Paul was to be led into the barracks, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto you? Who said, Can you speak Greek?

²⁴ The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the barracks, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know why they cried so against him. ²⁵ And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned? ²⁶ When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what you do: for this man is a Roman. ²⁷ Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, are you a Roman? He said, Yes. ²⁸ And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

¹⁰ And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the barracks.

¹⁷ Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he has a certain thing to tell him. ¹⁸ So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and asked me to bring this young man unto you, who has something to say unto you. ¹⁹ Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is it that you have to tell me? ²⁰ And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask you that you would bring down Paul tomorrow into the council, as though they would inquire somewhat of him more exactly. ²¹ But do not yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, who have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from you. ²² So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See that you tell no man that you have showed these things to me.

³ Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

² Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zachariah in the wilderness.

⁵¹ And this spoke he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

²⁴ Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

⁶ And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, You know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. ⁵¹ And this spoke he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; ⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

⁵⁸ But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. ⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; ⁶⁰ But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, ⁶¹ And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. ⁶² And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answer you nothing? what is it which these witness against you? ⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you be the Christ, the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, You have said so: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶⁵ Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now you have heard his blasphemy. ⁶⁶ What think you? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. ⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others struck him with the palms of their hands, ⁶⁸ Saying, Prophesy unto us, you Christ, Who is he that struck you?

⁵⁴ And Peter followed him afar off, even into the courtyard of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard: and a maidservant came unto him, saying, You also were with Jesus of Galilee.

⁶⁶ And as Peter was below in the courtyard, there came one of the maidservants of the high priest: ⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And you also were with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what you say. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed.

⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. ⁵⁶ But a certain maidservant beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. ⁵⁷ And he denied it, saying, Woman, I know him not.

³³ Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of you, yet will I never be offended.

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard: and a maidservant came unto him, saying, You also were with Jesus of Galilee. ⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, I know not what you say.

⁵ They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said unto them, I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.

⁸ Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore you seek me, let these go their way:

¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door outside. Then went out that other disciple, who was known unto the high priest, and spoke unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.

²⁵ And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me more than these? He said unto him, Yea, Lord; you know that I love you. He said unto him, Feed my lambs.

¹³ And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a maid came to answer, named Rhoda.

⁶ O my soul, come not into their secret; unto their assembly, my spirit, be not united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they dug down a wall.

⁹ And he came there unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What do you here, Elijah?

¹ Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

⁴ I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with hypocrites. ⁵ I have hated the congregation of evildoers; and will not sit with the wicked. ⁶ I will wash my hands in innocence: so will I go about your altar, O LORD: ⁷ That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works. ⁸ LORD, I have loved the habitation of your house, and the place where your honor dwells. ⁹ Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men: ¹⁰ In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

²⁰ He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And you also were with Jesus of Nazareth.

⁴⁴ And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. ⁵⁶ But a certain maidservant beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

⁹ As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

²³ And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

³³ Be not deceived: evil companions corrupt good morals.

¹⁵ And what harmony has Christ with Belial? or what part has he that believes with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? for you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Therefore come out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. ¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

⁵⁵ And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. ⁵⁶ For many bore false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. ⁵⁷ And there arose some, and bore false witness against him, saying, ⁵⁸ We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. ⁵⁹ But neither did their witness agree together. ⁶⁰ And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answer you nothing? what is it which these witness against you? ⁶¹ But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? ⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶³ Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, What need have we of any further witnesses? ⁶⁴ You have heard the blasphemy: what think you? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. ⁶⁵ And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the guards did strike him with the palms of their hands.

⁵³ And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to oppose him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: ⁵⁴ Lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.

²⁰ And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who should pretend themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

⁶³ And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and struck him. ⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck you? ⁶⁵ And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him. ⁶⁶ And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, ⁶⁷ Are you the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, you will not believe: ⁶⁸ And if I also ask you, you will not answer me, nor let me go. ⁶⁹ Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. ⁷⁰ Then said they all, Are you then the Son of God? And he said unto them, You say that I am. ⁷¹ And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

²² I will declare your name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise you.

⁹ I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not restrained my lips, O LORD, you know.

¹⁹ I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the descendants of Jacob, Seek me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

¹⁶ Come near unto me, hear this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, has sent me.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

²³ And when he came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority do you these things? and who gave you this authority? ²⁴ And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things. ²⁵ The baptism of John, from where was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did you not then believe him? ²⁶ But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. ²⁷ And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

²⁶ Therefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

⁵⁵ In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are you come out as against a thief with swords and clubs to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and you laid no hold on me.

⁶⁵ Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.

¹⁵ And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

⁴⁵ And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; ⁴⁶ Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but you have made it a den of thieves. ⁴⁷ And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief men of the people sought to destroy him,

¹ And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, ² And spoke unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority do you these things? or who is he that gave you this authority? ³ And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: ⁴ The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? ⁵ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did you not believe him? ⁶ But if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet. ⁷ And they answered, that they could not tell from where it was. ⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

⁴ For there is no man that does anything in secret, when he himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world.

¹⁴ Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

²⁶ But, lo, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

²⁸ Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, You both know me, and you know where I am from: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom you know not.

² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

²⁶ I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

²³ And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. ²⁴ Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long do you make us to doubt? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly. ²⁵ Jesus answered them, I told you, and you believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. ²⁶ But you believe not, because you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. ²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. ³⁰ I and my Father are one. ³¹ Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. ³² Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do you stone me? ³³ The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God. ³⁴ Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, You are gods? ³⁵ If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; ³⁶ Say you of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, You blaspheme; because I said, I am the Son of God? ³⁷ If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. ³⁸ But if I do, though you believe not me, believe the works: that you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. ³⁹ Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

²⁶ For the king knows of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; ⁶⁰ But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

⁶⁷ Are you the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, you will not believe:

¹² And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: ¹³ Neither can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.

¹⁸ Then certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult. ¹⁹ Who ought to have been here before you, and object, if they had anything against me. ²⁰ Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,

¹⁰ They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.

¹⁰ They abhor me, they flee far from me, and hesitate not to spit in my face. ¹¹ Because he has loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also cast off restraint before me. ¹² Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.

⁵ The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned backward. ⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked out the beard: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. ⁷ For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

² Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.

¹ Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops: he has laid siege against us: they shall strike the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

⁶⁵ And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the guards did strike him with the palms of their hands.

⁶³ And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and struck him. ⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck you?

³ And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they struck him with their hands.

² And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. ³ Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite you, you whitewashed wall: for do you sit to judge me after the law, and command me to be smitten contrary to the law? ⁴ And they that stood by said, Do you revile God's high priest? ⁵ Then said Paul, I knew not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, You shall not speak evil of the ruler of your people.

³⁹ But I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

¹ Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am humble among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

²⁰ For what glory is it, if, when you be buffeted for your faults, you shall take it patiently? but if, when you do well, and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is commendable with God. ²¹ For even to this were you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps: ²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously:

¹³ And led him away to Annas first; for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest that same year.

¹⁵ Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but you did laugh.

²⁵ The fear of man brings a snare: but whosoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

⁷¹ And when he was gone out into the porch, another maidservant saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁷² And again he denied it with an oath, I do not know the man. ⁷³ And after awhile came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely you also are one of them; for your speech betrays you. ⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crowed. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the words of Jesus, who said unto him, Before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

³⁷ And he came, and found them sleeping, and said unto Peter, Simon, do you sleep? could you not watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And you also were with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what you say. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed. ⁶⁹ And the maidservant saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. ⁷⁰ And he denied it again. And after a little, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely you are one of them: for you are a Galilean, and your speech agrees with it. ⁷¹ But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom you speak. ⁷² And the second time the cock crowed. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crows twice, you shall deny me three times. And when he thought on this, he wept.

⁵⁶ But a certain maidservant beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

⁵⁸ And after a little while another saw him, and said, you are also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. ⁵⁹ And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilean. ⁶⁰ And Peter said, Man, I know not what you say. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the cock crowed. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times. ⁶² And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

¹⁷ Then said the girl that kept the door unto Peter, Are not you also one of this man's disciples? He said, I am not. ¹⁸ And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.

¹¹ But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed. ¹² For before certain men came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them who were of the circumcision. ¹³ And the other Jews joined likewise with him; so that Barnabas also was carried away with their hypocrisy.

¹⁹ The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

⁷³ And after awhile came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely you also are one of them; for your speech betrays you.

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he entered, and his disciples.

¹⁰ Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

³⁴ Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, That this night, before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times.

⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what you say. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed.

³⁴ And he said, I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before you shall three times deny that you know me.

³⁸ Jesus answered him, Will you lay down your life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto you, The cock shall not crow, till you have denied me three times.

² You shall therefore sacrifice the passover unto the LORD your God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there.

²¹ And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments unto the LORD. ²² And Hezekiah spoke encouragingly unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers. ²³ And the whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days: and they kept another seven days with gladness. ²⁴ For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

⁸ And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen. ⁹ Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chiefs of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for the passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen. ¹⁰ So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their places, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king’s commandment. ¹¹ And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites skinned them. ¹² And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen. ¹³ And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings boiled they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them quickly among all the lay people. ¹⁴ And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busy in the offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

¹⁷ And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days. ¹⁸ And there was no passover like that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁶ With hypocritical mockers at feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

¹⁶ For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

¹⁶ For they sleep not, unless they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause someone to fall.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? says the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of male goats. ¹² When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot endure; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary of bearing them. ¹⁵ And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: yea, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

⁸ Behold, you trust in lying words, that cannot profit. ⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom you know not; ¹⁰ And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, says the LORD.

²¹ In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall have the passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.

²¹ I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not take delight in your solemn assemblies. ²² Though you offer me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fatted beasts. ²³ Take away from me the noise of your songs; for I will not hear the melody of your harps.

¹ Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand.

¹⁰ They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. ¹¹ Her heads judge for reward, and her priests teach for hire, and her prophets divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? no evil can come upon us. ¹² Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the house like the high places of the forest.

²³ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, justice, mercy, and faith: these ought you to have done, and not to leave the other undone. ²⁴ You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel. ²⁵ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. ²⁶ You blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. ²⁷ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like unto whitewashed sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

¹ When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: ² And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. ³ Then Judas, who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see you to that. ⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. ⁶ And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. ⁷ And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. ⁸ Therefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. ⁹ Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; ¹⁰ And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

²⁷ Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

¹ And immediately in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. ² And Pilate asked him, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, You say it. ³ And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. ⁴ And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answer you nothing? behold how many things they witness against you. ⁵ But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marveled.

¹⁶ And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they called together the whole band.

⁶⁶ And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

¹ And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. ² And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. ³ And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, You say it. ⁴ Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. ⁵ And they were the more urgent, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.

⁵⁵ And the Jews' passover was near at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

³³ Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Are you the King of the Jews?

³⁹ But you have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will you therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

⁹ And went again into the judgment hall, and said unto Jesus, From where are you? But Jesus gave him no answer.

¹⁴ And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he said unto the Jews, Behold your King!

¹³ The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

²⁸ And he said unto them, You know that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

³ Saying, You went in to men uncircumcised, and did eat with them.

¹¹ And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, You say so. ¹² And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. ¹³ Then said Pilate unto him, Hear you not how many things they witness against you? ¹⁴ And he answered him never a word; so that the governor marveled greatly.

²³ And the governor said, Why, what evil has he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

² And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. ³ And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, You say it.

²⁸ And when I would have known the cause for which they accused him, I brought him forth into their council: ²⁹ Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds. ³⁰ And when it was told me that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent immediately to you, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before you what they had against him. Farewell.

¹⁶ To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before he that is accused have the accusers face to face, and have opportunity to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

³³ Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

³ And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. ²⁰ And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who should pretend themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. ²¹ And they asked him, saying, Teacher, we know that you say and teach rightly, neither do you regard any person, but teach the way of God truly: ²² Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? ²³ But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why do you test me? ²⁴ Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription has it? They answered and said, Caesar's. ²⁵ And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things which are God's. ²⁶ And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marveled at his answer, and held their peace.

⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

¹² And from there on Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If you let this man go, you are not Caesar's friend: whosoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

²⁶ Thus says the Lord GOD; Remove the turban, and take off the crown: this shall not remain the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. ²⁷ I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he comes whose right it is; and I will give it to him.

⁴ For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim: ⁵ Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

⁶ When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, You take him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. ⁷ The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

¹⁵ But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

¹⁸ Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation of such things as I supposed: ¹⁹ But had certain questions against him of their own religion, and of one Jesus, who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive. ²⁰ And because I was perplexed concerning such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.

²³ His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that your land be not defiled, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. ⁸ And they remembered his words,

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

²⁸ Then said Jesus unto them, When you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.

³¹ Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

³³ The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God.

³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. ³³ This he said, signifying what death he should die.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:

⁶ Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. ⁷ I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you. ⁸ Ask of me, and I shall give you the nations for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. ⁹ You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. ¹⁰ Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth. ¹¹ Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. ¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

⁵ Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the earth.

¹⁵ The LORD has taken away your judgments, he has cast out your enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in your midst: you shall not see harm any more.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes unto you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon a donkey, and upon a colt the foal of a donkey.

¹¹ And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, You say so.

² And Pilate asked him, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, You say it.

³⁸ Saying, Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. ³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples. ⁴⁰ And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

³ And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, You say it. ⁴ Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.

¹³ Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that comes in the name of the Lord.

¹⁵ Fear not, daughter of Zion: behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey's colt.

²⁸ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. ²⁹ Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring you against this man?

³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.

¹⁹ And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. ²⁰ This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was near to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. ²¹ Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. ²² Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

³⁴ For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he said himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit on my right hand, ³⁵ Until I make your foes your footstool. ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

¹³ I give you charge in the sight of God, who brings all things to life, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

¹² Be it known unto the king, that the Jews who came up from you to us have come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and wicked city, and are finishing its walls, and repairing the foundations.

² And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they finish in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

²⁸ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

⁶ When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, You take him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

¹¹ Jesus answered, You could have no power at all against me, except it were given you from above: therefore he that delivered me unto you has the greater sin.

¹⁴ And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked crime, O you Jews, reason would that I should bear with you: ¹⁵ But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look you to it; for I will be no judge of such matters. ¹⁶ And he drove them from the judgment seat.

³⁸ Are not you that Egyptian, who before these days made an uproar, and led out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

²² And they gave him audience until this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. ²³ And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air, ²⁴ The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the barracks, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know why they cried so against him.

²⁹ Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

¹ What advantage then has the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? ² Much every way: chiefly, because unto them were committed the oracles of God.

³ Gird your sword upon your thigh, O most mighty, with your glory and your majesty. ⁴ And in your majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and your right hand shall teach you awesome things. ⁵ Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; by which the people fall under you. ⁶ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: the scepter of your kingdom is a righteous scepter. ⁷ You love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

⁵³ Think you that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

¹⁴ And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

²⁰ And when he was demanded by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with outward observation: ²¹ Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.

¹⁵ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

¹⁵ You judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

¹² Giving thanks unto the Father, who has made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: ¹³ Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: ¹⁴ In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

⁴ Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.

⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, You have said so: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁷⁰ Then said they all, Are you then the Son of God? And he said unto them, You say that I am.

³ And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, You say it.

³² And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony.

¹⁷ If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

¹⁴ Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know from where I came, and where I go; but you cannot tell from where I come, and where I go.

⁴⁷ He that is of God hears God's words: you therefore hear them not, because you are not of God.

²⁶ But you believe not, because you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. ²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

⁶ Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.

²² Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto sincere love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:

¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death.

¹⁹ And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

⁶ We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God is come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

⁴ John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him who is, and who was, and who is to come; and from the seven Spirits who are before his throne;

¹⁴ And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

¹⁸ For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. ¹⁹ When he was sat down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could gain nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see you to it.

¹⁴ Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil has he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

⁴ Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

¹⁴ Said unto them, You have brought this man unto me, as one that perverts the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man concerning those things of which you accuse him: ¹⁵ No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death was done by him. ¹⁶ I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

⁴ Pilate therefore went forth again, and said unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault in him.

¹⁹ And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof you speak, is? ²⁰ For you bring certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

³² And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear you again of this matter.

²⁵ And as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go your way for this time; when I have a convenient time, I will call for you. ²⁶ He hoped also that money should have been given him by Paul, that he might release him: therefore he sent for him often, and conferred with him.

¹⁹ But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

¹⁵ Now at that feast the governor was accustomed to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they desired. ¹⁶ And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. ¹⁷ Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will you that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ? ¹⁸ For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

²⁰ But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. ²¹ The governor answered and said unto them, Which of the two will you that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas. ²² Pilate said unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus who is called Christ? They all said unto him, Let him be crucified. ²³ And the governor said, Why, what evil has he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

⁶ Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired. ⁷ And there was one named Barabbas, who lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection. ⁸ And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had always done unto them. ⁹ But Pilate answered them, saying, Will you that I release unto you the King of the Jews? ¹⁰ For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him out of envy. ¹¹ But the chief priests stirred up the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. ¹² And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will you then that I shall do unto him whom you call the King of the Jews? ¹³ And they cried out again, Crucify him. ¹⁴ Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil has he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

¹⁶ I will therefore chastise him, and release him. ¹⁷ (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) ¹⁸ And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: ¹⁹ (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.) ²⁰ Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them. ²¹ But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. ²² And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil has he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. ²³ And they were urgent with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

¹⁶ And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

²⁶ Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

⁷ And there was one named Barabbas, who lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

¹⁵ And so Pilate, willing to satisfy the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

¹⁸ And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: ¹⁹ (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

²⁵ And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

¹³ The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
