¹ When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, ² (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) ³ He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee. ⁴ And he must needs go through Samaria. ⁵ Then came he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. ⁶ Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. ⁷ There came a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus said unto her, Give me to drink. ⁸ (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy food.) ⁹ Then said the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. ¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that said to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water. ¹¹ The woman said unto him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from where then have you that living water? ¹² Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle? ¹³ Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: ¹⁴ But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. ¹⁵ The woman said unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come here to draw. ¹⁶ Jesus said unto her, Go, call your husband, and come here. ¹⁷ The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband: ¹⁸ For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: that said you truly. ¹⁹ The woman said unto him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. ²⁰ Our fathers worshiped in this mountain; and you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. ²¹ Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. ²² You worship you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. ²³ But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. ²⁴ God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. ²⁵ The woman said unto him, I know that Messiah comes, who is called Christ: when he comes, he will tell us all things. ²⁶ Jesus said unto her, I that speak unto you am he. ²⁷ And upon this came his disciples, and marveled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? or, Why talk you with her? ²⁸ The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and said to the men, ²⁹ Come, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? ³⁰ Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. ³¹ In the meanwhile his disciples besought him, saying, Teacher, eat. ³² But he said unto them, I have food to eat that you know not of. ³³ Therefore said the disciples one to another, has any man brought him anything to eat? ³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. ³⁵ Say not, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. ³⁶ And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. ³⁷ And in this is that saying true, One sows, and another reaps. ³⁸ I sent you to reap that on which you bestowed no labor: other men labored, and you are entered into their labors. ³⁹ And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, who testified, He told me all that ever I did. ⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed because of his own word; ⁴² And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world. ⁴³ Now after two days he departed from there, and went into Galilee. ⁴⁴ For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country. ⁴⁵ Then when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. ⁴⁶ So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain official, whose son was sick at Capernaum. ⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus came out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. ⁴⁸ Then said Jesus unto him, Except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe. ⁴⁹ The official said unto him, Sir, come down lest my child die. ⁵⁰ Jesus said unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. ⁵¹ And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives. ⁵² Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to mend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. ⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in which Jesus said unto him, Your son lives: and he himself believed, and his whole house. ⁵⁴ This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he came out of Judea into Galilee.

⁷⁶ And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Highest: for you shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

³¹ And if any man asks you, Why do you loose him? thus shall you say unto him, Because the Lord has need of him.

³⁴ And they said, The Lord has need of him.

²² After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

²⁶ And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bear witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him.

³⁶ The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

⁸ Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

⁴⁷ The first man is of the earth, made of dust: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹ My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

¹⁶ And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

⁴⁸ And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to tarry certain days.

¹³ Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul? ¹⁴ I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; ¹⁵ Lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name. ¹⁶ And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. ¹⁷ For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee into another: for verily I say unto you, You shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man comes.

⁷ But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judea,

⁴³ The day following Jesus went forth into Galilee, and found Philip, and said unto him, Follow me.

¹¹ This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

³² And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony.

⁴⁰ And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.

⁵⁴ Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went from there unto the country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not: ⁶ But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

⁴⁹ And he said unto them, How is it that you sought me? knew you not that I must be about my Father's business?

⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, ⁵² And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.

¹¹ And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

¹⁹ And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for a hundred pieces of money.

²² Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.

³² And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

¹² Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?

² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry.

²⁴ And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

⁷ And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

⁵⁸ And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.

⁹ Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich.

¹⁷ Therefore in all things he had to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

⁴³ Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin comes forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray you, a little water of your pitcher to drink;

¹⁵ And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! ¹⁶ And the three mighty men broke through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out unto the LORD. ¹⁷ And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

¹⁰ So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that said to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.

¹³ But he said unto them, Give you them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; unless we should go and buy food for all this people.

⁵ Then came he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

³⁹ And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, who testified, He told me all that ever I did.

⁵ When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he said unto Philip, Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat? ⁶ And this he said to test him: for he himself knew what he would do. ⁷ Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

²⁴ And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in its cities. ²⁵ And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them. ²⁶ Therefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which you have removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he has sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land. ²⁷ Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Send there one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land. ²⁸ Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they should fear the LORD. ²⁹ However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they dwelt. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ And the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. ³² So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. ³³ They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from there. ³⁴ Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they follow their statutes, or their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel; ³⁵ With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them: ³⁶ But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you worship, and to him shall you do sacrifice. ³⁷ And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do forevermore; and you shall not fear other gods. ³⁸ And the covenant that I have made with you you shall not forget; neither shall you fear other gods. ³⁹ But the LORD your God you shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. ⁴⁰ However they did not hearken, but they did according to their former manner. ⁴¹ So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

¹ Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity built the temple unto the LORD God of Israel; ² Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of the fathers’ houses, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as you do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here. ³ But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel, said unto them, You have nothing to do with us to build a house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us. ⁴ Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building, ⁵ And hired counselors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. ⁶ And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem. ⁷ And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in Aramaic, and set forth in the Aramaic language. ⁸ Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this fashion: ⁹ Then wrote Rehum the commander, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the judges, the governors, the officials, the Persians, the men of Erech, the Babylonians, the men of Susa, and the Elamites, ¹⁰ And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Osnappar brought over, and settled in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and so forth . ¹¹ This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Your servants the men on this side the river, send greetings. ¹² Be it known unto the king, that the Jews who came up from you to us have come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and wicked city, and are finishing its walls, and repairing the foundations. ¹³ Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city is built, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so you shall impair the revenue of the kings. ¹⁴ Now because we receive support from the king’s palace, and it was not proper for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore have we sent and informed the king; ¹⁵ That search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: so shall you find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and harmful unto kings and provinces, and that they have incited sedition within the city from of old: for which cause was this city destroyed. ¹⁶ We inform the king that, if this city is built again, and its walls finished, by this means you shall have no dominion on this side of the river. ¹⁷ Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the commander, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and so forth. ¹⁸ The letter which you sent unto us has been plainly read before me. ¹⁹ And I commanded, and search has been made, and it is found that this city from of old has made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made in it. ²⁰ There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them. ²¹ Give you now command to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not built, until another command shall be given from me. ²² Take heed now that you fail not to do this: why should damage increase to the hurt of the kings? ²³ Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power. ²⁴ Then ceased the work on the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

¹ But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was angry, and felt great indignation, and mocked the Jews. ² And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they finish in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not:

⁵² And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. ⁵³ And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, will you that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did? ⁵⁵ But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of. ⁵⁶ For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

¹⁶ And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? ¹⁸ There was not found one that returned to give glory to God, except this stranger. ¹⁹ And he said unto him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole.

²⁷ And upon this came his disciples, and marveled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? or, Why talk you with her?

⁴⁸ Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?

⁸ But you shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

²⁸ And he said unto them, You know that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

⁶ Behold, I will stand before you there upon the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

¹² And when he was in affliction, he sought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, ¹³ And prayed unto him: and he received his entreaty, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.

¹⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spoke to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel. ¹⁹ His prayer also, and how God received his entreaty, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places, and set up idol poles and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.

¹⁷ LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble: you will prepare their heart, you will cause your ear to hear:

⁸ They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fullness of your house; and you shall make them drink of the river of your pleasures. ⁹ For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light.

⁴ There is a river, the streams of which shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the most High.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

³ Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation.

⁶ Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break forth, and streams in the desert.

¹⁷ When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongues fail for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. ¹⁸ I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

⁶ I the LORD have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant to the people, for a light to the Gentiles;

²⁰ The beast of the field shall honor me, the jackals and the ostriches: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

³ For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing upon your offspring:

⁶ And he said, It is too small a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel: I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation unto the ends of the earth. ⁷ Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he has chosen you. ⁸ Thus says the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you: and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant to the people, to establish the earth, to cause them to inherit the desolate heritages;

¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he that has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

¹ Ho, everyone that thirsts, come you to the waters, and he that has no money; come you, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ² Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfies not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat you that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in richness. ³ Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

⁶ Seek you the LORD while he may be found, call you upon him while he is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. ⁸ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. ⁹ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

¹³ For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed themselves out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

¹ Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the front of the house faced toward the east, and the waters came down from under the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. ² Then he brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around the way outside to the outer gate by the way that faces eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. ³ And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were up to the ankles. ⁴ Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the waist. ⁵ Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. ⁶ And he said unto me, Son of man, have you seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the bank of the river. ⁷ Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. ⁸ Then he said unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters of the sea shall be healed. ⁹ And it shall come to pass, that everything that lives, which moves, wherever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come there: for they shall be healed; and everything shall live where the river comes.

¹ In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.

⁸ And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

⁸ I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give to him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needs. ⁹ And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. ¹⁰ For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

¹³ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for everyone that exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

⁴² And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom. ⁴³ And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, Today shall you be with me in paradise.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

¹⁴ But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

²⁵ The woman said unto him, I know that Messiah comes, who is called Christ: when he comes, he will tell us all things. ²⁶ Jesus said unto her, I that speak unto you am he.

³⁵ And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

³⁷ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. ³⁸ He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water. ³⁹ (But this spoke he of the Spirit, whom they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Do you believe on the Son of God? ³⁶ He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? ³⁷ And Jesus said unto him, You have both seen him, and it is he that talks with you. ³⁸ And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshiped him.

³ And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

¹¹ And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prays,

³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

³⁰ And of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

⁴ And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

¹⁵ Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

⁸ For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God is come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

¹⁷ Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: ¹⁸ I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white clothing, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

¹⁷ For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

⁶ And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely.

¹ And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. ² In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bore twelve manner of fruit, and yielded its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is thirsty come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

⁴ Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

¹⁴ But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

² For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no stately form nor splendor; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. ³ He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

⁶ Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

⁵³ Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom make you yourself?

³ For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, because he who has built the house has more honor than the house.

¹³ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be ashamed: ¹⁴ Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall wail for anguish of spirit.

²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

²⁷ Labor not for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for on him has God the Father set his seal.

⁴⁹ Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live forever.

¹⁰ The thief comes not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

²⁶ And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?

¹⁶ And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; ¹⁷ Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. ¹⁸ I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. ¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also.

² As you have given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as you have given him. ³ And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

²¹ That as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁶ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: ¹⁷ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, so that we may be also glorified together.

²² Who has also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

¹³ In whom you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, ¹⁴ Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed unto the day of redemption.

²² Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto sincere love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike them, nor any heat.

⁶ There are many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift up the light of your countenance upon us.

²⁶ Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, You seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

³⁴ Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

⁵ For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

³ You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it upon your lusts.

⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, You are Simon the son of Jonah: you shall be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! ⁴⁸ Nathanael said unto him, Where do you know me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.

²⁴ But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, ²⁵ And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

¹⁸ For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: that said you truly.

¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Do you love me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

³ But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, you are but a dead man, for the woman that you have taken; for she is a man's wife.

² And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

⁷ And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done. ⁸ And Hamor spoke with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter: I pray you give her to him for a wife.

³¹ And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with a harlot?

²⁹ This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goes aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled;

¹⁰ Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead through his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of this place: you are witnesses this day.

²⁰ Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have you dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, says the LORD.

³² But as a wife that commits adultery, who takes strangers instead of her husband!

¹² And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she commits adultery.

³ So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband dies, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she is married to another man.

¹⁰ And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: ¹¹ But if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

⁴ Let marriage be held in honor by all, and the bed undefiled: but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

²⁶ And he said unto him, Went not my heart with you, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

¹² And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedchamber.

¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

¹⁶ And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet is risen up among us; and, God has visited his people.

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had bidden him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches him: for she is a sinner.

¹⁹ And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

⁴⁸ Nathanael said unto him, Where do you know me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you. ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.

²⁹ Come, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

¹⁴ Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

⁴⁰ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

¹⁷ They said unto the blind man again, What say you of him, that he has opened your eyes? He said, He is a prophet.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believes not, or one unlearned, he is convicted of all, he is judged of all: ²⁵ And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

⁶ And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Shechem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land. ⁷ And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your descendants will I give this land: and there built he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

¹⁸ And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddanaram; and pitched his tent before the city. ¹⁹ And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for a hundred pieces of money. ²⁰ And he erected there an altar, and called it Elelohe-israel.

²⁹ And it shall come to pass, when the LORD your God has brought you in unto the land where you go to possess it, that you shall put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

⁵ But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his dwelling place shall you seek, and there you shall come: ⁶ And there you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vowed offerings, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks: ⁷ And there you shall eat before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand unto, you and your households, in which the LORD your God has blessed you. ⁸ You shall not do according to all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes. ⁹ For you are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you. ¹⁰ But when you go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God gives you to inherit, and when he gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that you dwell in safety; ¹¹ Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; there shall you bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice offerings which you vow unto the LORD:

¹² These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:

³³ And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side of the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them in front of mount Gerizim, and half of them in front of mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel. ³⁴ And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law. ³⁵ There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were living among them.

⁶ And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the oak of the pillar that was in Shechem. ⁷ And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, you men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.

³ And the LORD said unto him, I have heard your prayer and your supplication, that you have made before me: I have hallowed this house, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

²⁶ Therefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which you have removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he has sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land. ²⁷ Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Send there one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land. ²⁸ Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they should fear the LORD. ²⁹ However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they dwelt. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ And the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. ³² So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. ³³ They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from there.

²⁶ And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

¹ Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.

⁶ But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

¹² And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for myself for a house of sacrifice.

¹⁶ For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever: and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

¹ [A Psalm or Song for the Sons of Korah.] His foundation is in the holy mountains. ² The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

¹³ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation.

⁵³ And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

³ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their faces: should I be inquired of at all by them?

³ Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Have you come to inquire of me? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

¹⁹ Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:

⁵ And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts, he said, ⁶ As for these things which you behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

²³ But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.

²⁵ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

⁶ Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time comes, that whosoever kills you will think that he does God service.

³² Behold, the hour comes, yea, is now come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us.

¹⁸ For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

¹⁴ For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁸ I desire therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

¹⁷ And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your exile here in fear:

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

¹⁰ But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, who minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their service: ¹¹ And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the showbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but you have forsaken him. ¹² And, behold, God himself is with us as our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to sound the alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight not against the LORD God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.

² Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of the fathers’ houses, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as you do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.

²⁰ He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the escape from death.

¹⁹ He shows his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

³ And many people shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.

⁶ Cry out and shout, you inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of you.

¹³ I bring near my righteousness: it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.

¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear not: and to Zion, Let not your hands be weak. ¹⁷ The LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over you with joy; he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes unto you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon a donkey, and upon a colt the foal of a donkey.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

²³ For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore you ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

³⁰ And the times of this ignorance God overlooked; but now commands all men everywhere to repent:

¹ What advantage then has the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? ² Much every way: chiefly, because unto them were committed the oracles of God.

⁴ Who are Israelites; to whom pertains the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; ⁵ Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

¹⁴ For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah; of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

¹⁴ Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, and in Egypt; and serve you the LORD.

²⁴ Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things he has done for you.

¹⁷ I know also, my God, that you test the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy your people, who are present here, to offer willingly unto you.

¹ [A prayer of David.] Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goes not out of feigned lips.

² Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

⁶ Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part you shall make me to know wisdom.

¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

¹⁴ O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice, and your countenance is lovely.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? says the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of male goats. ¹² When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot endure; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary of bearing them. ¹⁵ And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: yea, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

²⁰ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again lean upon him that struck them; but shall lean upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

⁸ Yea, in the way of your judgments, O LORD, have we waited for you; the desire of our soul is to your name, and to the remembrance of you. ⁹ With my soul have I desired you in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek you early: for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

¹³ Therefore the Lord said, Since this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

²¹ This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.

¹ Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. ² For they call themselves after the holy city, and anchor themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.

² Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching God.

⁸ Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall spring forth speedily: and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. ⁹ Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness; ¹⁰ And if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in the darkness, and your darkness be as the noon day: ¹¹ And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. ¹² And they from among you shall build the old waste places: you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of streets to dwell in. ¹³ If you turn away your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: ¹⁴ Then shall you delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride upon the heights of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

¹ Thus says the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that you build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? ² For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, says the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.

¹⁰ And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not turned unto me with her whole heart, but in pretense, says the LORD.

² And you shall swear, The LORD lives, in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

⁷ Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever. ⁸ Behold, you trust in lying words, that cannot profit. ⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom you know not; ¹⁰ And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, says the LORD. ¹² But go you now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

³⁰ And I sought for a man among them, that should build up the wall, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

⁷ You hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, ⁸ These people draw near unto me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. ⁹ But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. ¹³ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

²¹ Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

²³ And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

¹⁵ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry, Abba, Father.

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

⁶ And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thus with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

³ For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

²⁰ But you, beloved, building up yourselves in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, ²¹ Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

⁷ But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.

¹³ Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? ¹⁴ Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay your vows unto the most High: ¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

²³ Whoever offers praise glorifies me: and to him that orders his conduct aright will I show the salvation of God.

¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

¹⁸ If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹⁷ Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

¹⁷ Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁵ The LORD your God will raise up unto you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall hearken; ¹⁶ According to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. ¹⁷ And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. ¹⁸ I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah, the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. ²⁶ And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

¹⁶ And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

⁴¹ He first found his own brother Simon, and said unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. ⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, You are Simon the son of Jonah: you shall be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.

⁴² And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.

²⁰ Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil, because I am good?

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you be the Christ, the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, You have said so: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁶¹ But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? ⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

³⁰ And, behold, some are last who shall be first, and some are first who shall be last.

²⁴ I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins.

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Do you believe on the Son of God? ³⁶ He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? ³⁷ And Jesus said unto him, You have both seen him, and it is he that talks with you.

²⁰ But Isaiah is very bold, and says, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. ²¹ But to Israel he says, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and contrary people.

⁸ (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy food.) ⁹ Then said the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

⁸ And they departed quickly from the sepulcher with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

⁸ And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulcher; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they anything to any man; for they were afraid. ⁹ Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven demons. ¹⁰ And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

⁹ And returned from the sepulcher, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

³³ And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

⁷ There came a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus said unto her, Give me to drink.

²³ And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

Philip said unto him, Come and see. ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

¹⁷ The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband: ¹⁸ For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: that said you truly.

²⁵ The woman said unto him, I know that Messiah comes, who is called Christ: when he comes, he will tell us all things.

²⁶ But, lo, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

³¹ And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ comes, will he do more miracles than these which this man has done?

⁸ Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

¹ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, ² Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. ³ When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

¹¹ And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. ¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁰ Then began he to upbraid the cities in which most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: ²¹ Woe unto you, Chorazin! woe unto you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. ²² But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. ²³ And you, Capernaum, which is exalted unto heaven, shall be brought down to hades: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. ²⁴ But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ⁴¹ The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here. ⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many are called, but few chosen.

¹⁶ And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? ¹⁸ There was not found one that returned to give glory to God, except this stranger.

⁵ Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. ⁶ And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. ⁷ For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many that were paralyzed, and that were lame, were healed. ⁸ And there was great joy in that city.

³³ Immediately therefore I sent to you; and you have done well that you are come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded you of God.

⁴² And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

²⁸ Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

²⁰ Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

³³ And there was set food before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told my errand. And he said, Speak on.

⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

³⁸ Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said unto them, What seek you? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher,) where do you dwell?

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved, and your house. ³² And they spoke unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. ³³ And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately. ³⁴ And when he had brought them into his house, he sat food before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

¹² Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

¹⁴ The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips:

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

¹⁰ The heart knows its own bitterness; and a stranger does not share its joy.

²⁰ A man's stomach shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

¹¹ He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

¹⁶ Your words were found, and I did eat them; and your word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by your name, O LORD God of hosts.

³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

³⁵ I have showed you all things, how that so laboring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹⁷ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows except him who receives it.

⁶ Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. ⁷ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. ⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O you of little faith, why reason you among yourselves, because you have brought no bread? ⁹ Do you not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹⁰ Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹¹ How is it that you do not understand that I spoke not to you concerning bread, that you should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

⁴⁵ But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him about that saying.

⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God: yea, your law is within my heart.

¹ The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; ² To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; ³ To provide for them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

³⁹ And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.

⁴ What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he finds it? ⁵ And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

¹⁰ Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents.

¹⁰ For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

³² But he said unto them, I have food to eat that you know not of.

³⁰ I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who has sent me.

³⁶ But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father has sent me.

³³ For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

⁴ I have glorified you on the earth: I have finished the work which you gave me to do.

³⁰ When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

² Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

³⁷ Then said he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; ³⁸ Pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

² Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. ³ Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

³⁰ Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise.

³ And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

¹³ Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that often I purposed to come unto you, (but was prevented thus far,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

²² But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? ⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase. ⁸ Now he that plants and he that waters are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. ⁹ For we are laborers together with God: you are God's field, you are God's building.

¹⁹ For though I am free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. ²⁰ And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law of Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. ²² To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. ²³ And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

¹⁵ That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world; ¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.

¹⁹ For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

¹⁶ Take heed unto yourself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you shall both save yourself, and them that hear you.

⁷ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: ⁸ Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

¹⁹ Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; ²⁰ Let him know, that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

³ And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;

⁸ Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.

¹⁵ You shall sow, but you shall not reap; you shall tread the olives, but you shall not anoint yourself with oil; and make sweet wine, but shall not drink wine.

²¹ For I feared you, because you are a severe man: you take up what you laid not down, and reap what you did not sow.

¹⁵ And the LORD God of their fathers sent word to them by his messengers, sending them time and again; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:

⁴ Yet I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² And saying, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, {} The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ⁴ And the same John had his clothing of camel's hair, and a leather belt about his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey. ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan, ⁶ And were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

⁸ But what went you out to see? A man clothed in soft clothes? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. ⁹ But what went you out to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. ¹⁰ For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you. ¹¹ Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. ¹² And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. ¹³ For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

⁷ The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

⁴¹ Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

⁴ But many of them who heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

³² And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that any of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

¹⁴ And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

⁷ And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

⁴ Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word.

¹⁴ Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: ¹⁵ Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit: ¹⁶ (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ¹⁷ Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

³⁷ That word, I say, you know, which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; ³⁸ How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

⁴² And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he who was ordained of God to be the Judge of the living and dead. ⁴³ To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believes in him shall receive remission of sins.

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when he testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. ¹² Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

⁴¹ And many came unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spoke of this man were true. ⁴² And many believed on him there.

⁴⁵ Then many of the Jews who came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

²⁶ And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me.

¹³ Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is your life.

⁴ It was but a little after I passed by them, when I found him whom my soul loves: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

⁸ O the hope of Israel, its savior in time of trouble, why should you be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turns aside to tarry for a night?

³⁸ Now the man out of whom the demons were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at your house. ⁶ And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. ⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. ⁸ And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. ⁹ And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. ¹⁰ For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

²⁹ But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

¹⁵ And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she prevailed upon us.

¹ We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that you receive not the grace of God in vain. ² (For he says, I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I helped you: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me.

²⁸ And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his teachings: ²⁹ For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

³² And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

⁶³ It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

⁴⁶ The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.

¹² But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

²⁵ And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

³ And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

⁴ And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: ⁵ That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

²² Look unto me, and be you saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

¹⁰ The LORD has made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

¹⁰ And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. ¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

³² A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: ¹⁵ That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. ¹⁸ He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the living God.

¹⁷ Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

⁸ For I have given unto them the words which you gave me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from you, and they have believed that you did send me.

¹² Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved.

¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. ¹² Therefore many of them believed; also of honorable women who were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

¹¹ For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. ¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. ¹³ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

¹⁹ That is, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

¹⁰ For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.

¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

¹³ And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the seacoast, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali:

²¹ Then Jesus went from there, and departed into the regions of Tyre and Sidon. ²² And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same regions, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, you son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon. ²³ But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she cries after us. ²⁴ But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

²⁷ But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not right to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. ²⁸ And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

⁴⁶ So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain official, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

⁸ Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

⁵⁷ And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house.

⁴ But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

²⁴ And he said, Verily, I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

¹⁶ Three times in a year shall all your males appear before the LORD your God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with various diseases and torments, and those who were possessed with demons, and those that were epileptic, and those that were paralytic; and he healed them.

⁴² And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. ⁴³ And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. ⁴⁴ But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances.

⁴⁰ And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

¹³ And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, ¹⁴ And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: ¹⁵ And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; ¹⁶ And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things away; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.

²³ Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

² The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him.

²⁸ And Ebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto greater Sidon;

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

³⁴ When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and inquired early after God.

¹⁵ I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

¹⁸ While he spoke these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshiped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay your hand upon her, and she shall live.

²² And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same regions, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, you son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon.

¹⁴ And when they came to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, ¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and is very ill: for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.

² And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and ready to die.

⁴² For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

¹ On the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: ² And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. ³ And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said unto him, They have no wine. ⁴ Jesus said unto her, Woman, what have I to do with you? my hour has not yet come. ⁵ His mother said unto the servants, whatsoever he says unto you, do it. ⁶ And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons each. ⁷ Jesus said unto them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. ⁸ And he said unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the steward of the feast. And they bore it. ⁹ When the steward of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not from where it was: (but the servants who drew the water knew;) the steward of the feast called the bridegroom, ¹⁰ And said unto him, Every man at the beginning does set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now. ¹¹ This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

¹ And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was told that he was in the house. ² And immediately many were gathered together, so much that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. ³ And they came unto him, bringing one, a paralytic, who was borne of four.

⁵⁵ And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. ⁵⁶ And wherever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me.

⁶ Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not yourself: for I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof: ⁷ Therefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto you: but say a word, and my servant shall be healed. ⁸ For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.

⁴¹ And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

³ He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.

⁵⁴ This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he came out of Judea into Galilee.

²¹ Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

³² Then when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

³⁸ And since as Lydda was near to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will it be before they believe me, with all the signs which I have shown among them?

² I thought it good to show the signs and wonders that the most high God has worked for me.

²⁷ He delivers and rescues, and he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

¹ The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and testing him desired that he would show them a sign from heaven.

²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

⁴² He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

²² For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

¹⁸ And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

³¹ And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

¹⁸ Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign show you unto us, seeing that you do these things?

⁴¹ And many more believed because of his own word; ⁴² And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.

³⁷ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

²⁹ Jesus said unto him, Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

¹⁹ And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:

²² You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know:

⁴³ And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

³⁰ By stretching forth your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy child Jesus.

¹² And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders done among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

⁸ And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

³⁶ He brought them out, after he had showed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

³ A long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, who gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

¹² Then all the multitude kept silence, and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring what miracles and wonders God had done among the Gentiles by them.

¹⁹ Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

²² For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

¹² Truly the signs of an apostle were done among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

⁹ Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

⁴ God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

¹⁷ But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinks upon me: you are my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

¹⁰ Will you show wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise you? Selah. ¹¹ Shall your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or your faithfulness in destruction? ¹² Shall your wonders be known in the dark? and your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

²³ And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death: I pray you, come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

³⁵ While he yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain who said, Your daughter is dead: why trouble you the Teacher any further? ³⁶ As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he said unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

¹³ And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as you have said: but make me from it a little loaf first, and bring it unto me, and after that make some for you and for your son. ¹⁴ For thus says the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not run out, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth. ¹⁵ And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

¹³ And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go your way; and as you have believed, so be it done unto you. And his servant was healed in the same hour.

²⁹ And he said unto her, For this saying go your way; the demon is gone out of your daughter. ³⁰ And when she was come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

²³ Jesus said unto him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes. ²⁴ And immediately the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.

¹⁴ And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

⁴⁰ Jesus said unto her, Said I not unto you, that, if you would believe, you should see the glory of God?

⁹ The same heard Paul speak: who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, ¹⁰ Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on your feet. And he leaped and walked.

²⁰ He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; ²¹ And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

¹⁹ Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from which also he received him in a figure.

²³ And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, your son lives.

⁵⁰ Jesus said unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in which Jesus said unto him, Your son lives: and he himself believed, and his whole house.

⁹ For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

²⁰ He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

⁸ The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. ⁹ For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.

⁹ And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.

³⁹ For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

¹⁴ Who shall tell you words, by which you and all your house shall be saved.

³⁴ And when he had brought them into his house, he sat food before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

⁸ And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

⁴⁵ Then when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
