²⁰ Why do you forget us forever, and forsake us for so long a time?

⁵ How long, LORD? will you be angry forever? shall your jealousy burn like fire?

³ LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? ⁴ How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

⁹ Be not exceedingly angry, O LORD, neither remember iniquity forever: behold, see, we beseech you, we are all your people. ¹⁰ Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. ¹¹ Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised you, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste. ¹² Will you restrain yourself for these things, O LORD? will you hold your peace, and afflict us very severely?

¹⁹ Have you utterly rejected Judah? has your soul loathed Zion? why have you smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble! ²⁰ We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against you. ²¹ Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake, do not disgrace the throne of your glory: remember, break not your covenant with us.
