³ And Jesus answering them said, Have you not read so much as this, what David did, when he was hungry, and they who were with him;

³ Now therefore what is there on hand? give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or what there is present. ⁴ And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread on hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women. ⁵ And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us for these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel. ⁶ So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken away from before the LORD, to put hot bread in its place the day when it was taken away.

³ But he said unto them, Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him; ⁴ How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the showbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests? ⁵ Or have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

⁴ And he answered and said unto them, Have you not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female,

¹⁶ And said unto him, Do you hear what these say? And Jesus said unto them, Yea; have you never read, Out of the mouth of babes and infants you have perfected praise?

⁴² Jesus said unto them, Did you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

²⁵ And he said unto them, Have you never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him? ²⁶ How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to them who were with him?

¹⁰ And have you not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner:

²⁶ And concerning the dead, that they rise: have you not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
