¹⁸ Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.

² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry.

¹ At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the grain field; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears of grain, and to eat.

¹² And on the next day, when they had come from Bethany, he was hungry: ¹³ And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. ¹⁴ And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of you hereafter forever. And his disciples heard it.

²⁰ And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. ²¹ And Peter calling to remembrance said unto him, Teacher, behold, the fig tree which you cursed is withered away. ²² And Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God. ²³ For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be removed, and be cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he said shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he said. ²⁴ Therefore I say unto you, whatever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you shall have them.

² Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.
