⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

¹² Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatsoever things the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

⁹ For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

⁵ Now the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

⁸ If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well:

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loves is born of God, and knows God. ⁸ He that loves not knows not God; for God is love. ⁹ In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

¹⁹ We love him, because he first loved us. ²⁰ If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? ²¹ And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.
