¹ And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, ² You know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. ³ Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, ⁴ And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him. ⁵ But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. ⁶ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, ⁷ There came unto him a woman having an alabaster flask of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat to eat. ⁸ But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? ⁹ For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. ¹⁰ When Jesus knew it, he said unto them, Why trouble you the woman? for she has worked a good work unto me. ¹¹ For you have the poor always with you; but me you have not always. ¹² For in that she has poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. ¹³ Verily I say unto you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, which this woman has done, be told for a memorial of her. ¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, ¹⁵ And said unto them, What will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him. ¹⁷ Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where will you that we prepare for you to eat the passover? ¹⁸ And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Teacher says, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at your house with my disciples. ¹⁹ And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover. ²⁰ Now when the evening was come, he sat down with the twelve. ²¹ And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. ²² And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? ²³ And he answered and said, He that dips his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. ²⁴ The Son of man goes as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born. ²⁵ Then Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said, Teacher, is it I? He said unto him, You have said. ²⁶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. ²⁷ And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink you all of it; ²⁸ For this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. ²⁹ But I say unto you, I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. ³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. ³¹ Then said Jesus unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. ³² But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. ³³ Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of you, yet will I never be offended. ³⁴ Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, That this night, before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times. ³⁵ Peter said unto him, Though I should die with you, yet will I not deny you. Likewise also said all the disciples. ³⁶ Then came Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and said unto the disciples, Sit you here, while I go and pray yonder. ³⁷ And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very distressed. ³⁸ Then said he unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death: tarry you here, and watch with me. ³⁹ And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will. ⁴⁰ And he came unto the disciples, and found them asleep, and said unto Peter, What, could you not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, your will be done. ⁴³ And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. ⁴⁵ Then came he to his disciples, and said unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that does betray me. ⁴⁷ And while he yet spoke, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. ⁴⁹ And immediately he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Teacher; and kissed him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said unto him, Friend, why are you come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. ⁵¹ And, behold, one of them who was with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. ⁵² Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again your sword into its place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. ⁵³ Think you that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? ⁵⁵ In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are you come out as against a thief with swords and clubs to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and you laid no hold on me. ⁵⁶ But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. ⁵⁷ And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. ⁵⁸ But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. ⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; ⁶⁰ But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, ⁶¹ And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. ⁶² And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answer you nothing? what is it which these witness against you? ⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you be the Christ, the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, You have said so: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶⁵ Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now you have heard his blasphemy. ⁶⁶ What think you? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. ⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others struck him with the palms of their hands, ⁶⁸ Saying, Prophesy unto us, you Christ, Who is he that struck you? ⁶⁹ Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard: and a maidservant came unto him, saying, You also were with Jesus of Galilee. ⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, I know not what you say. ⁷¹ And when he was gone out into the porch, another maidservant saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁷² And again he denied it with an oath, I do not know the man. ⁷³ And after awhile came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely you also are one of them; for your speech betrays you. ⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crowed. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the words of Jesus, who said unto him, Before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

²⁸ And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his teachings:

¹ And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the region of Judea beyond Jordan;

¹¹ And thus shall you eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover. ¹² For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. ¹³ And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. ¹⁴ And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and you shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.

²⁵ You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.

²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

¹⁸ Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, ¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

²⁴ The Son of man goes as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born. ²⁵ Then Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said, Teacher, is it I? He said unto him, You have said.

⁴ Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see you to that.

¹ After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. ² But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

¹ Now the feast of unleavened bread drew near, which is called the Passover. ² And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

⁶ He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee, ⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

¹³ And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

⁵⁵ And the Jews' passover was near at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

¹ Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end. ² And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

² And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus often met there with his disciples.

¹ Why do the nations rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they talk of laying snares secretly; they say, Who shall see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, are deep.

²⁰ Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with you, which frames mischief by a law? ²¹ They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

¹⁹ But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised plots against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

²⁷ But if you will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

¹⁸ Then said they, Come, and let us devise plots against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words. ¹⁹ Give heed to me, O LORD, and listen to the voice of them that contend with me. ²⁰ Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before you to speak good for them, and to turn away your wrath from them.

⁴⁵ And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke of them. ⁴⁶ But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

⁵⁷ And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. ⁵⁸ But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard: and a maidservant came unto him, saying, You also were with Jesus of Galilee.

⁵⁴ And Peter followed him afar off, even into the courtyard of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

² Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zachariah in the wilderness.

⁴⁷ Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man does many miracles. ⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. ⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, You know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. ⁵¹ And this spoke he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; ⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. ⁵³ Then from that day forth they took counsel together to put him to death.

⁵⁷ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show it, that they might take him.

¹³ And led him away to Annas first; for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest that same year. ¹⁴ Now Caiaphas was he, who gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. ¹⁵ And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest.

²⁴ Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

²⁸ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

⁵ And it came to pass on the next day, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, ⁶ And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

²⁵ Who by the mouth of your servant David has said, Why did the nations rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ²⁷ For of a truth against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ To do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done.

¹ Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, has God said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

¹⁴ Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the judgment of hell?

¹⁹ The same dealt craftily with our kindred, and ill-treated our fathers, so that they exposed their infants, to the end that they might not live.

¹⁰ And said, O full of all deceit and all mischief, you child of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

³ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his cunning, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall praise you: the remainder of wrath shall you restrain.

²¹ There are many plans in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

¹⁰ Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

³⁷ Who is he that says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord commands it not?

⁵ And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

²⁶ But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could gain nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see you to it.

² But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

¹² And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where will you that we go and prepare that you may eat the passover?

²⁷ And Jesus said unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

⁶ But if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.

⁷ Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

²⁸ To do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done.

¹⁷ And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.

¹² And on the next day, when they had come from Bethany, he was hungry:

³ And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard very precious; and she broke the flask, and poured it on his head. ⁴ And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? ⁵ For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. ⁶ And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble you her? she has wrought a good work for me. ⁷ For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you will you may do them good: but me you have not always. ⁸ She has done what she could: she has come beforehand to anoint my body for burying. ⁹ Verily I say unto you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

³⁷ And, behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat to eat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, ³⁸ And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. ³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had bidden him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches him: for she is a sinner.

¹ Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. ² (It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

¹ Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. ² There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. ³ Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment. ⁴ Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray him, ⁵ Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? ⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put therein. ⁷ Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burial has she kept this. ⁸ For the poor always you have with you; but me you have not always.

²³ Take also unto you the finest spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet-smelling cinnamon half as much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet-smelling cane two hundred and fifty shekels, ²⁴ And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin: ²⁵ And you shall make it an oil of holy anointing, an ointment compounded after the art of the perfumer: it shall be a holy anointing oil. ²⁶ And you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting with it, and the ark of the testimony, ²⁷ And the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, ²⁸ And the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base. ²⁹ And you shall sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever touches them shall be holy. ³⁰ And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office. ³¹ And you shall speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be a holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations. ³² Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall you make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you. ³³ Whosoever compounds any like it, or whosoever puts any of it upon a foreigner, shall even be cut off from his people.

² It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

⁸ Let your garments be always white; and let your head lack no ointment.

¹ Dead flies cause the ointment of the perfumer to send forth a foul odor: so does a little folly to him that is respected for wisdom and honor.

³ Because of the fragrance of your good ointments your name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love you.

⁹ And you went to the king with ointment, and did increase your perfumes, and did send your messengers far off, and did debase yourself even unto sheol.

³⁷ And, behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat to eat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, ³⁸ And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

¹⁷ But he said, you are idle, you are idle: therefore you say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.

²⁸ And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why came you down here? and with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride, and the insolence of your heart; for you are come down that you might see the battle. ²⁹ And David said, What have I now done? Is it not a word?

⁴ Again, I considered all toil, and every skillful work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This is also vanity and grasping after the wind.

⁵ Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

² Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built. ³ Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying, ⁴ Is it time for you, yourselves, to dwell in your paneled houses, and this house lie in ruins?

⁷ You offer polluted bread upon my altar; and you say, How have we polluted you? In that you say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. ⁸ And if you offer the blind for a sacrifice, is it not evil? and if you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto your governor; will he be pleased with you, or accept your person? says the LORD of hosts. ⁹ And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: This has been by your gift: will he regard your persons? says the LORD of hosts. ¹⁰ Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nothing? neither do you kindle fire on my altar for nothing. I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

¹³ You said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and you have sneered at it, says the LORD of hosts; and you brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus you brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? says the LORD.

⁴ And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

⁴ Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray him, ⁵ Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? ⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put therein.

²⁰ And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and this is what I have done: ²¹ When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

⁹ But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was despised and worthless, that they destroyed utterly.

²¹ But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God in Gilgal.

²⁰ But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving from his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take something from him.

⁵ For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹⁸ Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

⁷ Will you speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

⁶ And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble you her? she has wrought a good work for me.

⁴⁴ And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, See this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my feet: but she has washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. ⁴⁵ You gave me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in has not ceased to kiss my feet. ⁴⁶ My head with oil you did not anoint: but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment. ⁴⁷ Therefore I say unto you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. ⁴⁸ And he said unto her, Your sins are forgiven. ⁴⁹ And they that sat to eat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgives sins also? ⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.

⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

⁷ Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

¹² I would they were even cut off who trouble you.

¹⁷ From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.

¹⁰ That you might walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

¹⁷ Encourage your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

¹ This is a true saying, If a man desires the office of a bishop, he desires a good work.

¹⁰ Well reported of for good works; if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

²¹ If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and fit for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

¹⁶ They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own, zealous of good works.

¹ Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

⁸ This is a faithful saying, and these things I desire that you affirm constantly, that they who have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

¹⁴ And let our own also learn to maintain good works for urgent needs, that they not be unfruitful.

²¹ Make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹² Having your conduct honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

¹¹ For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command you, saying, you shall open your hand wide unto your brother, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

³⁴ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ For I was hungry, and you gave me food: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: ³⁶ Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came unto me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you hungry, and fed you? or thirsty, and gave you drink? ³⁸ When saw we you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you? ³⁹ Or when saw we you sick, or in prison, and came unto you? ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Since you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.

⁴² For I was hungry, and you gave me no food: I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink: ⁴³ I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and you visited me not. ⁴⁴ Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you hungry, or thirsty or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto you? ⁴⁵ Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Since you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.

²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

⁷ For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you will you may do them good: but me you have not always.

⁸ For the poor always you have with you; but me you have not always.

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Where I go, you cannot come; so now I say to you.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also.

⁵ But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asks me, Where do you go?

²⁸ I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

¹¹ And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to you. Holy Father, keep through your own name those whom you have given me, that they may be one, as we are.

²¹ Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

¹⁰ Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was eager to do.

¹⁷ But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his heart of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?

¹⁴ And they buried him in his own sepulcher, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet ointments and various kinds of spices prepared by the perfumer’s art: and they made a very great fire in honor of him.

⁸ She has done what she could: she has come beforehand to anoint my body for burying.

¹ And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

⁵⁶ And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

⁷ Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burial has she kept this.

³⁹ And there came also Nicodemus, who at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pound weight. ⁴⁰ Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

³⁰ Therefore the LORD God of Israel says, I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

² The LORD has made known his salvation: his righteousness has he openly showed in the sight of the nations. ³ He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁶ Surely he shall not be moved forever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

⁹ Break forth into joy, sing together, you waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

¹⁹ Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:

¹⁰ And the gospel must first be preached among all nations.

⁹ Verily I say unto you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

¹⁹ Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

¹⁸ For not he that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

⁶ Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day you heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

²³ If you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard, and which was preached to every creature who is under heaven; of which I Paul am made a minister;

⁶ Who gave himself a ransom for all, this to be a testimony at the proper time.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have showed toward his name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

⁶ And I saw another angel fly in midheaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and tribe, and tongue, and people,

⁴ Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

²⁵ Then Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said, Teacher, is it I? He said unto him, You have said.

⁴⁷ And while he yet spoke, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

³ Then Judas, who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

¹⁰ And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them. ¹¹ And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

³ Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. ⁴ And he went his way, and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. ⁵ And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. ⁶ And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that would betray him, being one of the twelve.

⁴ Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray him,

² And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

³⁰ He then having received the morsel went immediately out: and it was night.

¹⁶ Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.

²⁶ And Judah said unto his brothers, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? ²⁷ Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brothers were content. ²⁸ Then there passed by Midianites, merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

¹⁶ And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray you, let me come in unto you; (for he knew not that she was his daughter-in-law.) And she said, What will you give me, that you may come in unto me?

³² If the ox shall gore a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.

⁵ And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see where his great strength lies, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will all give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.

¹⁰ And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten shekels of silver a year, and a suit of apparel, and your living. So the Levite went in.

¹⁹ And they said unto him, Hold your peace, lay your hand upon your mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for you to be a priest to the house of one man, or that you be a priest to a tribe and a family in Israel? ²⁰ And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the household gods, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.

¹¹ Yea, they are greedy dogs who can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, everyone for his gain, from his own quarter.

¹² And I said unto them, If you think it good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. ¹³ And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a princely price that I was valued at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

³ Then Judas, who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see you to that. ⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his insides gushed out.

³ Not given to wine, not violent, not greedy of money; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

⁹ But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

³ And through covetousness shall they with false words exploit you: whose judgment of old now lingers not, and their destruction slumbers not.

¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: a heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: ¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹⁸ In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at evening. ¹⁹ Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eats that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land. ²⁰ You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings shall you eat unleavened bread.

⁶ Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD. ⁷ Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with you, neither shall there be leaven seen with you in all your quarters. ⁸ And you shall show your son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

⁵ In the fourteenth day of the first month at evening is the LORD's passover. ⁶ And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

¹⁶ And on the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the LORD. ¹⁷ And on the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.

¹ Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD your God: for in the month of Abib the LORD your God brought you forth out of Egypt by night. ² You shall therefore sacrifice the passover unto the LORD your God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there. ³ You shall eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shall you eat unleavened bread with it, even the bread of affliction: for you came forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that you may remember the day when you came forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life. ⁴ And there shall be no leavened bread seen with you in all your territory seven days; neither shall there any part of the flesh, which you sacrificed the first day at evening, remain all night until the morning.

¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Permit it to be so now: for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he permitted him.

²⁴ And when they came to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Does not your teacher pay tribute? ²⁵ He said, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus preceded him, saying, What think you, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

¹⁹ And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

¹² And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where will you that we go and prepare that you may eat the passover? ¹³ And he sent forth two of his disciples, and said unto them, Go into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. ¹⁴ And wherever he shall go in, say to the owner of the house, The Master says, Where is the guest room, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? ¹⁵ And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. ¹⁶ And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

⁷ Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. ⁸ And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. ⁹ And they said unto him, Where will you that we prepare? ¹⁰ And he said unto them, Behold, when you are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he enters in. ¹¹ And you shall say unto the owner of the house, The Master says unto you, Where is the guest room, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? ¹² And he shall show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. ¹³ And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

³ And if any man say anything unto you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them; and immediately he will send them.

⁸ But you be not called Rabbi: for one is your Teacher, even Christ; and all you are brothers.

¹⁰ Neither be you called masters: for one is your Teacher, even Christ.

² You know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

⁴⁹ And immediately he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Teacher; and kissed him.

³⁵ While he yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain who said, Your daughter is dead: why trouble you the Teacher any further?

⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, you stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

⁶ Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready.

⁸ Go you up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet fully come.

³⁰ Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

²⁸ And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Teacher is come, and calls for you.

²³ And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

¹ These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you:

¹⁶ Jesus said unto her, Mary. She turned, and said unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Teacher.

⁴ And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next unto his house take it according to the number of persons; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. ⁵ Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: you shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: ⁶ And you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. ⁷ And they shall take of the blood, and put it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, in which they shall eat it. ⁸ And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

¹⁰ So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their places, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king’s commandment. ¹¹ And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites skinned them.

⁶ And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

⁵ His mother said unto the servants, whatsoever he says unto you, do it.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you.

¹¹ And thus shall you eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.

¹² While the king sits at his table, my perfume sends forth its fragrance.

¹⁷ And in the evening he came with the twelve. ¹⁸ And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you who eats with me shall betray me. ¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? ²⁰ And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dips with me in the dish. ²¹ The Son of man indeed goes, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

¹⁴ And when the hour came, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. ¹⁵ And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: ¹⁶ For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

¹² For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: ¹³ But it was you, a man my equal, my guide, and my close friend. ¹⁴ We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, ¹⁵ And said unto them, What will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

²¹ But, behold, the hand of him that betrays me is with me on the table. ²² And truly the Son of man goes, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! ²³ And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? ²⁰ And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dips with me in the dish.

²³ And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

²² Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke. ²³ Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. ²⁴ Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spoke. ²⁵ He then lying on Jesus' breast said unto him, Lord, who is it?

¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Do you love me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

⁹ Yea, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who did eat of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

²¹ But, behold, the hand of him that betrays me is with me on the table.

¹⁸ I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

²⁶ Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a morsel, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. ²⁷ And after the morsel Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, What you do, do quickly. ²⁸ Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spoke this unto him.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

A Psalm of David.] My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? ² O my God, I cry in the daytime, but you hear not; and in the night season, and am not silent. ³ But you are holy, O you that inhabit the praises of Israel. ⁴ Our fathers trusted in you: they trusted, and you did deliver them. ⁵ They cried unto you, and were delivered: they trusted in you, and were not disappointed. ⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. ⁷ All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ⁸ He trusted in the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. ⁹ But you are he that took me out of the womb: you did make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. ¹⁰ I was cast upon you from birth: you are my God from my mother's womb. ¹¹ Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. ¹² Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round about. ¹³ They gaped on me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. ¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my body. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue clings to my jaws; and you have brought me to the dust of death. ¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. ¹⁷ I can count all my bones: they look and stare upon me. ¹⁸ They part my garments among them, and cast lots for my clothing. ¹⁹ But be not far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste you to help me. ²⁰ Deliver my soul from the sword; my life from the power of the dog. ²¹ Save me from the lion's mouth: for you have heard me from the horns of the wild oxen. ²² I will declare your name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise you. ²³ You that fear the LORD, praise him; all you descendants of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all you descendants of Israel. ²⁴ For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither has he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. ²⁵ My praise shall be of you in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. ²⁶ The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live forever. ²⁷ All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before you. ²⁸ For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations. ²⁹ All the prosperous of earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. ³⁰ A posterity shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. ³¹ They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he has done this.

¹⁵ Let death seize upon them, and let them go down alive into the grave: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

²³ But you, O God, shall bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in you.

A Psalm of David.] Save me, O God; for the waters have come in unto my soul. ² I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. ³ I am weary from my crying: my throat is dried: my eyes fail while I wait for my God. ⁴ They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: they that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. ⁵ O God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from you. ⁶ Let not them that wait on you, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek you be disgraced for my sake, O God of Israel. ⁷ Because for your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I have become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children. ⁹ For the zeal of your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached you are fallen upon me. ¹⁰ When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. ¹¹ I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them. ¹² They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. ¹³ But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation. ¹⁴ Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵ Let not the floodwater overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut its mouth upon me. ¹⁶ Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies. ¹⁷ And hide not your face from your servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. ¹⁸ Draw near unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies. ¹⁹ You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: my adversaries are all before you. ²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. ²¹ They gave me also gall for my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

⁶ Set you a wicked man over him: and let an accuser stand at his right hand. ⁷ When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. ⁸ Let his days be few; and let another take his office. ⁹ Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. ¹¹ Let the extortioner catch all that he has; and let the strangers spoil his labor. ¹² Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children. ¹³ Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth. ¹⁶ Because he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. ¹⁷ As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, so let it come into his body like water, and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be unto him as the garment which covers him, and for a belt with which he is girded continually.

⁵ The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned backward. ⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked out the beard: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

¹ Who has believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? ² For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no stately form nor splendor; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. ³ He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. ⁴ Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. ⁵ But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. ⁸ He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. ⁹ And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. ¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. ¹¹ He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he has poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁶ And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is close to me, says the LORD of hosts: strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

⁷ Woe unto the world because of offenses! for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

⁵⁶ But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

¹² And he answered and told them, Elijah truly comes first, and restores all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be treated with contempt.

²¹ The Son of man indeed goes, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

²² And truly the Son of man goes, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

²⁵ Then he said unto them, O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: ²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

⁴⁶ And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it was fit for Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name: those that you gave me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

²⁴ They said therefore among themselves, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, They parted my garments among them, and for my clothing they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.

³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. ³⁷ And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

¹⁶ Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. ¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his insides gushed out. ¹⁹ And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; since that field is called in their proper tongue, Akeldama, that is to say, The field of blood. ²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his office let another take.

²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets who are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. ²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulcher.

² And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, ³ Opening them up and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

²² Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: ²³ That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should proclaim light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

²³ And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

³ For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

¹⁰ Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: ¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when he testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, From where come you, Gehazi? And he said, Your servant went nowhere.

²⁰ This is the way of an adulterous woman; she eats, and wipes her mouth, and says, I have done no wickedness.

⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, You have said so: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

¹¹ And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, You say so.

⁷⁰ Then said they all, Are you then the Son of God? And he said unto them, You say that I am.

³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.

⁴ Then take some of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for from there shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel. ⁵ Thus says the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.

¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

⁴¹ And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

²² And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. ²³ And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. ²⁴ And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. ²⁵ Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

¹⁸ For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. ¹⁹ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁰ Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.

³⁰ And it came to pass, as he sat to eat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave to them.

³³ For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world. ³⁴ Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. ³⁵ And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.

⁴⁷ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life. ⁴⁸ I am that bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whosoever eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live forever.

⁴⁶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their food with gladness and sincerity of heart,

⁷ And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the next day; and continued his speech until midnight.

⁴ And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

²³ For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: ²⁴ And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁵ After the same manner also he took the cup, after he had eaten, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do you, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. ²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord's death till he comes. ²⁷ Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. ²⁹ For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

²⁴ Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from mount Sinai, which brings forth to bondage, which is Hagar. ²⁵ For this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

¹³ I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.

⁹ And the roof of your mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goes down sweetly, flowing gently over lips and teeth.

⁶ And on this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of rich things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

¹ Ho, everyone that thirsts, come you to the waters, and he that has no money; come you, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

²³ And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. ²⁴ And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.

²⁰ Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

⁷ And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the hearing of the people: and they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient. ⁸ And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD has made with you concerning all these words.

¹¹ For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul.

³¹ Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant I have sent forth your prisoners out of the pit in which is no water.

²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁴ John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

²⁴ And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.

¹⁹ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

¹⁵ So also is the free gift not like the offense. For if through the offense of one many are dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, has abounded unto many.

¹⁹ For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

²⁵ After the same manner also he took the cup, after he had eaten, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do you, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

⁷ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

¹⁴ In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

²⁰ And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

¹⁴ How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? ¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new covenant, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they who are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. ¹⁶ For where a will is, there must also of necessity be the death of the maker. ¹⁷ For a will is in force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the maker lives. ¹⁸ Hence neither the first covenant was dedicated without blood. ¹⁹ For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, ²⁰ Saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded unto you. ²¹ Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. ²² And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

²⁸ So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

⁴ For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. ⁵ Therefore when he comes into the world, he says, Sacrifice and offering you desired not, but a body have you prepared me: ⁶ In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you have had no pleasure. ⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do your will, O God. ⁸ Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin you desired not, neither had pleasure in them; which are offered by the law; ⁹ Then said he, Lo, I come to do your will, O God. He takes away the first, that he may establish the second. ¹⁰ By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest stands daily ministering and offering frequently the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: ¹² But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God; ¹³ From then on waiting till his enemies be made his footstool. ¹⁴ For by one offering he has perfected forever them that are sanctified.

²⁰ Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

⁹ After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and tribes, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

¹⁴ And I said unto him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are they who came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

⁷ You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their grain and their wine increased.

³ And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

¹⁵ And wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengthens man's heart.

⁹ They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. ¹⁰ The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. ¹¹ There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

¹¹ He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

¹⁷ The LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over you with joy; he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! grain shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maidens.

⁴³ Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.

²⁸ Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, who shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³⁴ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

²⁵ Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

⁵ And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

²³ And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: ²⁴ For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. ²⁵ Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

³² It was right that we should make merry, and be glad: for this your brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: ¹⁶ For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. ¹⁷ And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: ¹⁸ For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

²⁹ And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed unto me; ³⁰ That you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

²² And you now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man takes from you.

¹³ And now come I to you; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

⁴¹ Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

² Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁸ And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of saints. ⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation; ¹⁰ And have made us unto our God a kingdom and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

¹⁷ For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

³ And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who were redeemed from the earth.

¹ And when they drew near unto Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

²⁶ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. ²⁷ And Jesus said unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. ²⁸ But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. ²⁹ But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. ³⁰ And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crows twice, you shall deny me three times. ³¹ But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with you, I will not deny you by any means. Likewise also said they all.

³⁷ And in the daytime he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

³⁹ And he came out, and went, as was his custom, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he entered, and his disciples. ² And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus often met there with his disciples. ³ Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons. ⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek you?

¹⁹ Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ Giving thanks always for all things unto God, even the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. ¹⁷ And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father by him.

¹⁵ My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks that pass away; ¹⁶ Which are black by reason of the ice, and in which the snow is hid: ¹⁷ At what time they become warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they vanish out of their place. ¹⁸ The paths of their way turn aside; they go nowhere, and perish. ¹⁹ The caravans of Tema looked, the travelers of Sheba waited for them. ²⁰ They were disappointed because they had confidence; they came there, and were confused. ²¹ For now you are nothing; you see my terror, and are afraid. ²² Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?

¹³ He has put my brethren far from me, and my acquaintances are wholly estranged from me. ¹⁴ My kinsfolk have failed, and my close friends have forgotten me. ¹⁵ They that dwell in my house, and my maidservants, count me as a stranger: I am an alien in their sight. ¹⁶ I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I entreated him with my mouth.

¹¹ My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

¹⁸ Lover and friend have you put far from me, and my acquaintance into darkness.

¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

¹⁹ I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and my elders died in the city, while they sought their food to relieve their souls.

⁵ And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became food to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. ⁶ My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.

⁶ And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

³² Behold, the hour comes, yea, is now come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

²¹ From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

⁶³ Saying, Sir, we remember that this deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulcher be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

⁶ He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. ⁷ And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there shall you see him: lo, I have told you.

¹⁰ Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

¹⁶ Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man was risen from the dead. ¹⁰ And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.

²⁸ But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

⁷ But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goes before you into Galilee: there shall you see him, as he said unto you.

³³ And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. ³⁴ And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

¹ After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and in this way showed he himself. ² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. ³ Simon Peter said unto them, I am going fishing. They said unto him, We also will go with you. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. ⁴ But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. ⁵ Then Jesus said unto them, Children, have you any fish? They answered him, No. ⁶ And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fish. ⁷ Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girded his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. ⁸ And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fish. ⁹ As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. ¹⁰ Jesus said unto them, Bring of the fish which you have now caught. ¹¹ Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fish, a hundred and fifty and three: and although there were so many, yet was not the net broken. ¹² Jesus said unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples dared ask him, Who are you? knowing that it was the Lord. ¹³ Jesus then came, and took bread, and gave to them, and fish likewise. ¹⁴ This is now the third time that Jesus showed himself to his disciples, after he was risen from the dead.

⁶ After that, he was seen of over five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep.

⁵ Hold up my steps in your paths, that my feet slip not.

¹¹⁶ Uphold me according unto your word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. ¹¹⁷ Hold me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto your statutes continually.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. ¹⁹ Better it is to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

⁶ Most men will proclaim everyone his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

²⁵ He that is of a proud heart stirs up strife: but he that puts his trust in the LORD shall be prospered. ²⁶ He that trusts in his own heart is a fool: but whosoever walks wisely, he shall be delivered.

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

²⁹ But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.

³³ And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death.

³⁶ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, where do you go? Jesus answered him, Where I go, you cannot follow me now; but you shall follow me afterwards. ³⁷ Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow you now? I will lay down my life for your sake. ³⁸ Jesus answered him, Will you lay down your life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto you, The cock shall not crow, till you have denied me three times.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me more than these? He said unto him, Yea, Lord; you know that I love you. He said unto him, Feed my lambs.

¹⁰ Be tender loving one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

⁵ Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the words of Jesus, who said unto him, Before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

³⁴ And he said, I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before you shall three times deny that you know me.

³⁸ Jesus answered him, Will you lay down your life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto you, The cock shall not crow, till you have denied me three times.

⁸ And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD has spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

¹⁴ Happy is the man that is reverent always: but he that hardens his heart shall fall into calamity.

²³ A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

²² But Jesus answered and said, You know not what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They said unto him, We are able. ²³ And he said unto them, You shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. ²⁴ And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brothers.

³⁷ Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow you now? I will lay down my life for your sake.

²⁰ Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Be not arrogant, but fear:

¹² Therefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

¹² Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

¹⁷ And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your exile here in fear:

The servant's name was Malchus. ¹¹ Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up your sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

¹⁸ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

²¹ And going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

¹ And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain apart,

²⁰ Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshiping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

³⁷ And he permitted no man to follow him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

³³ And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed, and to be very troubled; ³⁴ And said unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful unto death: tarry you here, and watch.

⁴⁴ And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

²⁷ Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

² Oh that my grief were thoroughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together! ³ For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up. ⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison thereof drinks up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:

¹ We then that are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves. ² Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification. ³ For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached you fell on me.

⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See you do it not: I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

³³ And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, you shall rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that are with him come out against you, then may you do to them as you shall find occasion.

¹⁵ And David said to Abner, are not you a valiant man? and who is like to you in Israel? why then have you not kept your lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king your lord. ¹⁶ This thing is not good that you have done. As the LORD lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not kept your master, the LORD'S anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the jar of water that was at his head.

¹¹ And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girds on his armor boast himself as he that puts it off.

² I sleep, but my heart wakes: it is the voice of my beloved that knocks, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

⁵ While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

³⁵ Peter said unto him, Though I should die with you, yet will I not deny you. Likewise also said all the disciples.

³⁸ Then said he unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death: tarry you here, and watch with me.

⁴³ And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

³⁷ And he came, and found them sleeping, and said unto Peter, Simon, do you sleep? could you not watch one hour?

³² But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

⁴⁵ And when he rose up from prayer, and came to his disciples, he found them sleeping from the grief,

¹ [Aleph] Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.

⁴ You have commanded us to keep your precepts diligently. ⁵ O that my ways were directed to keep your statutes!

²⁴ Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors. ²⁵ [Daleth] My soul clings unto the dust: revive me according to your word.

³² I will run the way of your commandments, when you shall enlarge my heart.

³⁵ Make me to go in the path of your commandments; for therein do I delight. ³⁶ Incline my heart unto your testimonies, and not to covetousness. ³⁷ Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity; and revive me in your way.

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, you evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

¹¹⁷ Hold me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto your statutes continually.

¹⁴ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. ¹⁵ Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

⁸ Yea, in the way of your judgments, O LORD, have we waited for you; the desire of our soul is to your name, and to the remembrance of you. ⁹ With my soul have I desired you in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek you early: for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

⁴² Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord does come.

³³ Take you heed, watch and pray: for you know not when the time is. ³⁴ For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. ³⁵ Watch you therefore: for you know not when the Master of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning: ³⁶ Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

³⁸ Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

¹³ Those on the rock are they, who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for awhile believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

⁴ And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

⁴⁰ And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that you enter not into temptation.

⁴⁶ And said unto them, Why sleep you? rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.

¹⁸ For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. ¹⁹ For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. ²⁰ Now if I do that which I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. ²¹ I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. ²² For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: ²³ But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. ²⁴ O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? ²⁵ I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

²⁷ But I roughly treat my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.

¹³ There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

¹³ Watch, stand fast in the faith, be men, be strong.

¹⁶ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would.

²⁴ And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thus with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

¹² Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if indeed I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, ¹⁴ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:

⁹ The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

¹⁰ Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

¹⁵ Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

¹⁷ And hide not your face from your servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. ¹⁸ Draw near unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies.

³⁹ And again he went away, and prayed, and spoke the same words. ⁴⁰ And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither knew they what to answer him.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; ⁸ Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

³⁴ Yea, you shall be as he that lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lies upon the top of a mast.

⁶ So the captain came to him, and said unto him, What mean you, O sleeper? arise, call upon your God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.

⁹ And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

¹ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that are drunk are drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

¹⁷ Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of your servant, and his supplications, and cause your face to shine upon your sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. ¹⁸ O my God, incline your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by your name: for we do not present our supplications before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for your own sake, O my God: for your city and your people are called by your name.

⁷ But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

¹ And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

⁸ For this thing I besought the Lord three times, that it might depart from me.

²⁷ And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he sleeps, and must be awaked.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

¹³ Then Paul answered, What mean you to weep and to break my heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

⁴³ And immediately, while he yet spoke, came Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. ⁴⁴ And he that betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. ⁴⁵ And as soon as he came, he went immediately to him, and said, Teacher, Teacher; and kissed him. ⁴⁶ And they laid their hands on him, and took him. ⁴⁷ And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. ⁴⁸ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are you come out, as against a thief, with swords and with clubs to take me? ⁴⁹ I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled. ⁵⁰ And they all forsook him, and fled.

And he touched his ear, and healed him. ⁵² Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, who were come to him, Do you come out, as against a thief, with swords and clubs? ⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, you stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

⁹ And Joab said to Amasa, Are you in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him. ¹⁰ But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab’s hand: so he struck him with it in the fifth rib, and shed out his entrails to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. ³ Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

²⁰ He has put forth his hands against such as were at peace with him: he has broken his covenant. ²¹ The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

⁴⁴ And he that betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

²⁶ And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

And he said unto them, It is enough.

⁴⁹ When they who were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? ⁵⁰ And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. ⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said, No more of this. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from here.

⁴ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)

⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

⁵ Because you have had a perpetual hatred, and have shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity came to an end: ⁶ Therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I will prepare you unto blood, and blood shall pursue you: since you have not hated blood, even blood shall pursue you.

³⁹ But I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall you scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

¹⁹ Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.

¹¹ Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place; ¹² And labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure it:

¹⁵ See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

²¹ For even to this were you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps: ²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously:

⁹ Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but on the contrary blessing; knowing that you are unto this called, that you should inherit a blessing.

¹⁰ He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

⁶ For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink; for they are deserving of it.

¹⁷ And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray you, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

¹⁰ A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

¹¹ Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

¹ And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. ² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

A Psalm of David.] Save me, O God; for the waters have come in unto my soul. ² I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. ³ I am weary from my crying: my throat is dried: my eyes fail while I wait for my God. ⁴ They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: they that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. ⁵ O God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from you. ⁶ Let not them that wait on you, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek you be disgraced for my sake, O God of Israel. ⁷ Because for your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I have become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children. ⁹ For the zeal of your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached you are fallen upon me. ¹⁰ When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. ¹¹ I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them. ¹² They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. ¹³ But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation. ¹⁴ Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵ Let not the floodwater overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut its mouth upon me. ¹⁶ Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies. ¹⁷ And hide not your face from your servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. ¹⁸ Draw near unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies. ¹⁹ You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: my adversaries are all before you. ²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. ²¹ They gave me also gall for my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. ²² Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. ²³ Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake. ²⁴ Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your wrathful anger take hold of them. ²⁵ Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. ²⁶ For they persecute him whom you have smitten; and they talk of the grief of those whom you have wounded. ²⁷ Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into your righteousness. ²⁸ Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. ²⁹ But I am poor and sorrowful: let your salvation, O God, set me up on high. ³⁰ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. ³¹ This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that has horns and hoofs. ³² The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your hearts shall live that seek God. ³³ For the LORD hears the poor, and despises not his prisoners. ³⁴ Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moves therein. ³⁵ For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. ³⁶ The children also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah, the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. ²⁶ And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

²⁴ The Son of man goes as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.

²⁵ Then he said unto them, O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: ²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. ⁴⁵ Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, ⁴⁶ And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it was fit for Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

³⁵ If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

³⁵ And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?

³⁷ And in the daytime he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. ³⁸ And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.

¹⁴ Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

²⁸ Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, You both know me, and you know where I am from: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom you know not.

² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always met; and in secret have I said nothing. ²¹ Why do you ask me? Ask them who heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.

²⁶ That confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers; that says to Jerusalem, you shall be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, you shall be built, and I will raise up its waste places:

²⁰ The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

³¹ Then said Jesus unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

⁵⁰ And they all forsook him, and fled. ⁵¹ And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: ⁵² And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

⁸ Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore you seek me, let these go their way: ⁹ That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Of them which you gave me have I lost none.

¹⁵ And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest. ¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door outside. Then went out that other disciple, who was known unto the high priest, and spoke unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.

¹⁶ At my first defense no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

⁵ Every day they twist my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. ⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

³ Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

⁵³ And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. ⁵⁴ And Peter followed him afar off, even into the courtyard of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. ⁵⁵ And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. ⁵⁶ For many bore false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. ⁵⁷ And there arose some, and bore false witness against him, saying, ⁵⁸ We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. ⁵⁹ But neither did their witness agree together. ⁶⁰ And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answer you nothing? what is it which these witness against you? ⁶¹ But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? ⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶³ Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, What need have we of any further witnesses? ⁶⁴ You have heard the blasphemy: what think you? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. ⁶⁵ And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the guards did strike him with the palms of their hands.

⁵⁴ Then they took him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off. ⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, You know nothing at all,

¹² Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, ¹³ And led him away to Annas first; for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest that same year. ¹⁴ Now Caiaphas was he, who gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

¹⁹ The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. ²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always met; and in secret have I said nothing. ²¹ Why do you ask me? Ask them who heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said. ²² And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answer you the high priest so? ²³ Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why strike me? ²⁴ Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

³² The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

⁴⁵ Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have you not brought him?

²⁵ And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

¹⁶ If a false witness rises up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; ¹⁷ Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, who shall be in those days; ¹⁸ And the judges shall make diligent inquiry: and, behold, if the witness is a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother; ¹⁹ Then shall you do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shall you put the evil away from among you. ²⁰ And those who remain shall hear, and fear, and shall hereafter commit no more any such evil among you. ²¹ And your eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

⁸ So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth. ⁹ And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: ¹⁰ And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, You did blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹³ And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, so that he died.

¹² Deliver me not over unto the will of my enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

¹¹ False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. ¹² They rewarded me evil for good to the sorrow of my soul.

¹⁸ A man that bears false witness against his neighbor is a club, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

²² But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

⁵⁵ And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. ⁵⁶ For many bore false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

¹¹ Then they bribed men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. ¹² And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, ¹³ And set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

¹ And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul. ² And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by you we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by your provision, ³ We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness. ⁴ Nevertheless, that I be not further tedious unto you, I pray you that you would hear us in your kindness a few words. ⁵ For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes: ⁶ Who also has gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. ⁷ But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands, ⁸ Commanding his accusers to come unto you: by examining of whom you yourself may take knowledge of all these things, of which we accuse him. ⁹ And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so. ¹⁰ Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Since I know that you have been for many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself: ¹¹ Because you may understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship. ¹² And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: ¹³ Neither can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.

¹⁵ One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

¹¹ False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

⁴ Then the presidents and satraps sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault; because he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. ⁵ Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

⁵⁷ And there arose some, and bore false witness against him, saying, ⁵⁸ We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. ⁵⁹ But neither did their witness agree together.

⁸ Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is an opponent may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

¹⁶ Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good behavior in Christ.

⁹ And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with you, than with them. And they pressed hard upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

²⁷ And say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

¹¹ Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? why came this mad fellow to you? And he said unto them, You know the man, and his communication.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. ⁷ All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

⁷ Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he has chosen you.

⁸ Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had finished speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, You shall surely die. ⁹ Why have you prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD. ¹⁰ When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entrance of the new gate of the LORD’S house. ¹¹ Then spoke the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.

¹⁶ Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God. ¹⁷ Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying, ¹⁸ Micah the Moresthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. ¹⁹ Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD relented himself of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow does not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons.

⁷¹ And when he was gone out into the porch, another maidservant saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

⁴⁰ And saying, You that destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

²⁹ And they that passed by derided him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, you that destroy the temple, and build it in three days,

² And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. ²⁰ Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and will you raise it up in three days? ²¹ But he spoke of the temple of his body.

²⁹ We know that God spoke unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from where he is.

¹³ And set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us.

¹⁸ Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? Others, He seems to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

¹³ Saying, This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.

²² And they gave him audience until this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

¹² And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. ¹³ Then said Pilate unto him, Hear you not how many things they witness against you? ¹⁴ And he answered him never a word; so that the governor marveled greatly.

⁶⁰ And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answer you nothing? what is it which these witness against you?

⁹ Then he questioned him with many words; but he answered him nothing.

⁹ And went again into the judgment hall, and said unto Jesus, From where are you? But Jesus gave him no answer. ¹⁰ Then said Pilate unto him, Speak you not unto me? know you not that I have power to crucify you, and have power to release you? ¹¹ Jesus answered, You could have no power at all against me, except it were given you from above: therefore he that delivered me unto you has the greater sin.

¹ And if a soul sins, and hears the voice of an oath, and is a witness, whether he has seen or known of it; if he does not tell of it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

¹⁹ And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man has lain with you, and if you have not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of your husband, be you free from this bitter water that causes the curse: ²⁰ But if you have gone aside to another instead of your husband, and if you are defiled, and some man has lain with you beside your husband: ²¹ Then the priest shall charge the woman to take an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make you a curse and an oath among your people, when the LORD does make your thigh to rot, and your belly to swell;

²⁴ And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had lain an oath on the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eats any food until evening, that I may be avenged on my enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

²⁶ And when the people were come into the forest, behold, the honey dripped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.

²⁸ Then answered one of the people, and said, your father strictly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eats any food this day. And the people were faint.

¹⁶ And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure you that you tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

¹⁵ And the king said to him, How many times shall I make you swear that you say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?

⁶ Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. ⁷ I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you.

¹² They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and plan deceit all the day long. ¹³ But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that opens not his mouth. ¹⁴ Thus I was as a man that hears not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

²⁴ Whosoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul: he hears cursing, and reveals it not.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you be the Christ, the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, You have said so: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶⁵ Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now you have heard his blasphemy. ⁶⁶ What think you? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

¹² And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

¹⁴ And he answered him never a word; so that the governor marveled greatly.

⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁵⁴ Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

⁶¹ But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

⁶⁶ And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, ⁶⁷ Are you the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, you will not believe: ⁶⁸ And if I also ask you, you will not answer me, nor let me go. ⁶⁹ Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. ⁷⁰ Then said they all, Are you then the Son of God? And he said unto them, You say that I am. ⁷¹ And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

³⁴ And I saw, and bore record that this is the Son of God.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. ¹⁸ He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

¹⁸ Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. ¹⁹ Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for whatsoever things he does, these also does the Son likewise. ²⁰ For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does: and he will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. ²¹ For as the Father raises up the dead, and gives them life; even so the Son gives life to whom he will. ²² For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son: ²³ That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father who has sent him. ²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. ²⁵ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

⁶⁹ And we believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the living God.

²⁵ Then said they unto him, Who are you? And Jesus said unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

²⁴ Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long do you make us to doubt? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.

³⁰ I and my Father are one.

³⁶ Say you of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, You blaspheme; because I said, I am the Son of God?

⁷ The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

⁹ And went again into the judgment hall, and said unto Jesus, From where are you? But Jesus gave him no answer.

³¹ But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through his name.

³² The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: ³³ In his humiliation his justice was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. ³⁴ And the eunuch asked Philip, and said, I pray you, of whom speaks the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? ³⁵ Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

²³ Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously:

¹¹ And this is the witness, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life. ¹³ These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.

¹ [A Psalm of David.] The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.

¹³ I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

³⁰ And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

²⁷ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

⁵⁰ Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these. ⁵¹ And he said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter you shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

¹¹ Who also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, ⁵⁶ And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? or why do you despise your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

¹⁶ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

³ Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

⁷ Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also who pierced him: and all tribes of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

²⁰ Or a hunchback, or a dwarf, or that has a defect in his eye, or an itching disease, or scabs, or is a eunuch;

⁶ And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of them that searched the land, tore their clothes:

³⁷ Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.

²⁴ Yet they were not afraid, nor tore their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

³ And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes.

⁶³ Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, What need have we of any further witnesses? ⁶⁴ You have heard the blasphemy: what think you? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

³³ The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God.

¹⁴ Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they tore their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

¹¹ And the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:) ¹² And they put him in custody, that the mind of the LORD might be shown them. ¹³ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, ¹⁴ Bring forth him that has cursed outside the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him. ¹⁵ And you shall speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curses his God shall bear his sin. ¹⁶ And he that blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemes the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them who showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers:

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets who are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

⁶ You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you.

¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.

⁹ Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.

²⁴ But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto you?

⁹ And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword. ¹⁰ They abhor me, they flee far from me, and hesitate not to spit in my face. ¹¹ Because he has loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also cast off restraint before me.

⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked out the beard: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

¹⁴ As many were astonished at you; so his appearance was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

² Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.

³⁰ He gives his cheek to him that strikes him: he is filled full with reproach.

⁴⁵ You have made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

¹ Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops: he has laid siege against us: they shall strike the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

³⁰ And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and struck him on the head.

³⁴ And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

⁶⁵ And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the guards did strike him with the palms of their hands.

¹⁹ And they struck him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshiped him.

⁶³ And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and struck him. ⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck you? ⁶⁵ And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him.

²² And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answer you the high priest so?

² And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. ³ Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite you, you whitewashed wall: for do you sit to judge me after the law, and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?

¹³ Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the trash of all things unto this day.

²⁰ For you permit it, if a man brings you into bondage, if a man devours you, if a man takes of you, if a man exalts himself, if a man smites you on the face. ²¹ I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. But in whatsoever way any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.

¹⁹ And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer comes. ²⁰ Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast has devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

²⁵ And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make sport for us. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made sport for them: and they set him between the pillars.

²⁸ And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. ²⁹ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

³⁹ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ And saying, You that destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you be the Son of God, come down from the cross. ⁴¹ Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, saying, ⁴² He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. ⁴⁴ The thieves also, who were crucified with him, reviled him the same way.

¹⁸ And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! ¹⁹ And they struck him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshiped him.

² And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, ³ And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they struck him with their hands.

¹⁴ And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he said unto the Jews, Behold your King! ¹⁵ But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

⁴ To whom coming, as unto a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ⁵ You also, as living stones, are built up into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. ⁶ Therefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded. ⁷ Unto you therefore who believe he is precious: but unto them who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner, ⁸ And, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them who stumble at the word, being disobedient: to which also they were appointed.

⁹ And he came there unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What do you here, Elijah?

¹³ And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What do you here, Elijah?

¹ Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

²² But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judea in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there: and, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the district of Galilee: ²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

⁵⁸ But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

⁶⁶ And as Peter was below in the courtyard, there came one of the maidservants of the high priest: ⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And you also were with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what you say. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed. ⁶⁹ And the maidservant saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. ⁷⁰ And he denied it again. And after a little, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely you are one of them: for you are a Galilean, and your speech agrees with it. ⁷¹ But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom you speak. ⁷² And the second time the cock crowed. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crows twice, you shall deny me three times. And when he thought on this, he wept.

⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. ⁵⁶ But a certain maidservant beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. ⁵⁷ And he denied it, saying, Woman, I know him not. ⁵⁸ And after a little while another saw him, and said, you are also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. ⁵⁹ And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilean. ⁶⁰ And Peter said, Man, I know not what you say. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the cock crowed. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times. ⁶² And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

⁴⁶ And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said unto him, Come and see.

⁴¹ Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

⁵² They answered and said unto him, Are you also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet.

¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door outside. Then went out that other disciple, who was known unto the high priest, and spoke unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. ¹⁷ Then said the girl that kept the door unto Peter, Are not you also one of this man's disciples? He said, I am not. ¹⁸ And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.

²⁵ And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not. ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, being the kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did not I see you in the garden with him? ²⁷ Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crowed.

³⁷ After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

⁷ And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy behavior of the wicked: ⁸ (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) ⁹ The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, you evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

²⁶ He that trusts in his own heart is a fool: but whosoever walks wisely, he shall be delivered.

²⁵ The fear of man brings a snare: but whosoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

¹¹ And of whom have you been afraid or feared, that you have lied, and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and you fear me not?

³⁴ Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, That this night, before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times. ³⁵ Peter said unto him, Though I should die with you, yet will I not deny you. Likewise also said all the disciples.

⁴⁰ And he came unto the disciples, and found them asleep, and said unto Peter, What, could you not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, your will be done. ⁴³ And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

⁵¹ And, behold, one of them who was with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

⁸ But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what you say. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed. ⁶⁹ And the maidservant saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.

⁵⁸ And after a little while another saw him, and said, you are also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

⁷ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.

¹ Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

³ Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that steals shall be cut off according to the writing on this side; and every one that swears falsely shall be cut off according to the writing on that side. ⁴ I will bring it forth, says the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with its timber and its stones.

¹⁷ And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, says the LORD.

⁵ And I will come near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the sojourner from his right, and fear not me, says the LORD of hosts.

³⁴ But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: ³⁵ Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. ³⁶ Neither shall you swear by your head, because you can not make one hair white or black.

⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crowed.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? ⁴ While it remained, was it not your own? and after it was sold, was it not in your own power? why have you conceived this thing in your heart? you have not lied unto men, but unto God.

⁶ Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

²⁴ And their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the language of Judah, but according to the language of each people.

⁵⁹ And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilean. ⁶⁰ And Peter said, Man, I know not what you say. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the cock crowed.

So none of the people tasted any food. ²⁵ And all they of the land came to a forest; and there was honey upon the ground. ²⁶ And when the people were come into the forest, behold, the honey dripped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath. ²⁷ But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: therefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in a honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were brightened. ²⁸ Then answered one of the people, and said, your father strictly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eats any food this day. ²⁸ And fear not them who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

³² Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father who is in heaven. ³³ But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me more than these? He said unto him, Yea, Lord; you know that I love you. He said unto him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He said to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? He said unto him, Yea, Lord; you know that I love you. He said unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Do you love me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

¹² And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. ¹³ And they were more than forty who had made this conspiracy. ¹⁴ And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

³ For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

²² If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

³⁴ Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, That this night, before the cock crows, you shall deny me three times.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: ³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you have returned, strengthen your brethren. ³³ And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death. ³⁴ And he said, I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before you shall three times deny that you know me.

¹⁸ For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. ¹⁹ For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. ²⁰ Now if I do that which I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me.

⁷ For who makes you to differ from another? and what have you that you did not receive? now if you did receive it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it?

¹ Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.

⁵ Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
