⁵ And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

¹⁵ And Moses said unto his father-in-law, Because the people come unto me to inquire of God: ¹⁶ When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. ¹⁷ And Moses' father-in-law said unto him, The thing that you do is not good. ¹⁸ You will surely wear away, both you, and this people that is with you: for this thing is too heavy for you; you are not able to perform it yourself alone. ¹⁹ Hearken now unto my voice, I will give you counsel, and God shall be with you: Represent the people before God, that you may bring the causes unto God:

²² And there I will meet with you, and I will commune with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give you in commandment unto the children of Israel.

¹² And they put him in custody, that the mind of the LORD might be shown them. ¹³ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

⁸ And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.

³⁴ And they put him in custody, because it was not declared what should be done to him.

⁴ I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.
