¹ If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affections and mercies, ² Fulfill you my joy, that you be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. ³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. ⁴ Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not a thing to be grasped to be equal with God: ⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. ⁹ Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: ¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹ And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ¹² Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. ¹³ For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. ¹⁴ Do all things without murmuring and disputing: ¹⁵ That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world; ¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain. ¹⁷ Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. ¹⁸ For the same cause also do you joy, and rejoice with me. ¹⁹ But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. ²⁰ For I have no man like minded, who will naturally care for your state. ²¹ For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. ²² But you know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he has served with me in the gospel. ²³ Him therefore I hope to send presently, as soon as I shall see how it will go with me. ²⁴ But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly. ²⁵ Yet I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labor, and fellow soldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. ²⁶ For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because you had heard that he had been sick. ²⁷ For indeed he was sick near unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. ²⁸ I sent him therefore the more eagerly, that, when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. ²⁹ Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in honor: ³⁰ Because for the work of Christ he was near unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

¹ [A song of ascents. Of David.] Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

¹⁰ And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. ¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

²⁵ And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

¹⁸ I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. ¹¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. ¹² This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you.

²² And you now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man takes from you. ²³ And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. ²⁴ Until now have you asked nothing in my name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.

¹³ And now come I to you; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

⁴⁶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their food with gladness and sincerity of heart,

³² And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that any of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

¹ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: ² By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

⁵ And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given unto us.

⁹ But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. ¹⁰ And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. ¹¹ But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also bring to life your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you. ¹² Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. ¹³ For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live. ¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. ¹⁵ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

¹² And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust. ¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶ Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

¹⁹ What? know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have of God, and you are not your own? ²⁰ For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

¹³ For by one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

³¹ I protest by your boasting which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

⁵ For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds by Christ. ⁶ And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

¹⁴ Now thanks be unto God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the fragrance of his knowledge by us in every place.

¹⁴ The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen.

⁶ And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

¹³ In whom you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, ¹⁴ Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

¹⁸ For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. ¹⁹ Now therefore you are no more strangers and sojourners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; ²⁰ And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone; ²¹ In whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto a holy temple in the Lord: ²² In whom you also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

⁴ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling;

³⁰ And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed unto the day of redemption. ³¹ Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: ³² And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.

⁸ For God is my witness, how greatly I long after you all in the affections of Jesus Christ.

³ For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

² That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

¹² Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

¹⁶ Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, who has loved us, and has given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through grace, ¹⁷ Encourage your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, in that it was impossible for God to lie, we might have strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

² Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

⁶ In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold trials: ⁷ That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: ⁸ Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

²² Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto sincere love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently: ²³ Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.

²⁴ And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loves is born of God, and knows God. ⁸ He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.

¹² No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us.

¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.

²⁹ He that has the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

¹⁴ These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

¹² And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders done among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

¹⁶ Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

⁵ Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: ⁶ That you may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

³ And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

⁷ And not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.

¹¹ Finally, brethren, farewell. Be restored, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

⁴ Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

²⁶ That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again. ²⁷ Only let your manner of life be as it becomes the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.

²⁰ For I have no man like minded, who will naturally care for your state.

¹⁵ Let us therefore, as many as would be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything you be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. ¹⁶ Nevertheless, to what we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

² I urge Euodias, and urge Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

⁵ For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, rejoicing and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

¹⁹ For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? ²⁰ For you are our glory and joy.

⁶ But now when Timothy came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and love, and that you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: ⁷ Therefore, brethren, we were encouraged over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: ⁸ For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy with which we joy for your sakes before our God; ¹⁰ Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

⁴ Greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy;

²⁰ Yea, brother, let me have joy of you in the Lord: refresh my heart in the Lord.

⁸ Finally, be all of one mind, having compassion one with another, love as brethren, be tender hearted, be courteous: ⁹ Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but on the contrary blessing; knowing that you are unto this called, that you should inherit a blessing.

³ That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. ⁴ And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

⁴ I rejoiced greatly that I found some of your children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

⁴ I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

¹⁰ Only by pride comes strife: but with the well advised is wisdom.

⁷ And he put forth a parable to those who were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief places; saying unto them, ⁸ When you are bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest place; lest a more honorable man than you be bidden of him; ⁹ And he that bade you and him come and say to you, Give this man your place; and you begin with shame to take the lowest place. ¹⁰ But when you are bidden, go and sit down in the lowest place; that when he that bade you come, he may say unto you, Friend, go up higher: then shall you have honor in the presence of them that sit at table with you. ¹¹ For whosoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for everyone that exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

¹⁰ Be tender loving one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

¹³ Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

³ For you are yet carnal: for while there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men?

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, who am not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

²⁰ For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found unto you such as you desire not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, conceit, tumults:

¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, take heed that you be not consumed one of another.

²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, wrath, selfishness, divisions, heresies, ²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁶ Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

² With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

²¹ Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: ¹⁶ The one preach Christ out of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: ¹⁷ But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmuring and disputing:

⁸ But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy talk out of your mouth.

⁴ He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting over questions and disputes of words, out of which comes envy, strife, railings, evil suspicions,

¹⁴ But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, boast not, and lie not against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

⁵ Do you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy? ⁶ But he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

¹ Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, ² As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

⁵ Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

⁶ But whoever shall offend one of these little ones who believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

¹⁵ Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

¹⁹ Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things with which one may edify another. ²⁰ For food destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eats with offense. ²¹ It is good neither to eat meat, nor to drink wine, nor anything by which your brother stumbles, or is offended, or is made weak. ²² Have you faith? have it to yourself before God. Happy is he that condemns not himself in that thing which he allows.

¹ We then that are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

⁹ But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours becomes a stumbling block to them that are weak. ¹⁰ For if any man sees you who have knowledge eating in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him who is weak be encouraged to eat those things which are offered to idols; ¹¹ And through your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? ¹² But when you sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. ¹³ Therefore, if food makes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat while the world stands, lest I make my brother to stumble.

²⁴ Let no man seek his own, but every man another's good.

³² Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: ³³ Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

²² Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: ²³ And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our less respectable parts have greater respect. ²⁴ For our more respectable parts have no need: but God has arranged the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked: ²⁵ That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. ²⁶ And whether one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it.

⁴ Love suffers long, and is kind; love envies not; love vaunts not itself, is not puffed up, ⁵ Does not behave itself rudely, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, keeps no record of evil;

³ Giving no offense in anything, that the ministry be not blamed:

²⁹ Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

⁸ If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well:

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.

²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; ²⁷ And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: ²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

²⁷ For who is greater, he that sits at table, or he that serves? is not he that sits at table? but I am among you as he that serves.

¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

³⁸ How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

³⁵ I have showed you all things, how that so laboring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹⁵ But if your brother is grieved with your food, you no longer walk in love. Destroy not him with your food, for whom Christ died.

³ For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached you fell on me.

³³ Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling fragrance.

²¹ For even to this were you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps:

¹ Since therefore Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

⁶ He that says he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. ²⁶ And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me. ²⁷ And he said unto him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob. ²⁸ And he said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince have you power with God and with men, and have prevailed. ²⁹ And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray you, your name. And he said, Why is it that you do ask my name? And he blessed him there. ³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who fed me all my life long unto this day, ¹⁶ The Angel who redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be perpetuated in them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

¹³ And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, are you for us, or for our adversaries? ¹⁴ And he said, Nay; but as captain of the army of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What says my lord unto his servant? ¹⁵ And the captain of the LORD'S army said unto Joshua, Loose your shoes from off your feet; for the place on which you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

⁸ And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and pass over, he shall reach up to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name by which he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

² Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his waist even downward, fire; and from his waist even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the color of amber. ³ And he put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looks toward the north; where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy. ⁴ And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, like the vision that I saw in the plain. ⁵ Then he said unto me, Son of man, lift up your eyes now in the way toward the north. So I lifted up my eyes in the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entrance. ⁶ He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, see you what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations.

³ He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God: ⁴ Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us; ⁵ Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial name.

² But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is close to me, says the LORD of hosts: strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

²³ Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God.

¹⁸ No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.

¹⁸ Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

²³ That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father who has sent him.

⁵⁸ Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. ⁵⁹ Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

³⁰ I and my Father are one.

³³ The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God.

³⁸ But if I do, though you believe not me, believe the works: that you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

⁹ Jesus said unto him, Have I been so long a time with you, and yet have you not known me, Philip? he that has seen me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father?

²⁸ You have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If you loved me, you would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

⁵ And now, O Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world was.

²⁸ And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

⁵ Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

⁴ In whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

¹⁵ Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: ¹⁶ For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: ¹⁷ Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁶ And without doubt great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

¹³ Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;

³ Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

⁶ And again, when he brings the firstbegotten into the world, he says, And let all the angels of God worship him.

⁸ But unto the Son he says, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.

⁸ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: ¹⁸ I am he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hades and of death.

⁶ And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

¹ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth justice to the Gentiles.

³ And said unto me, You are my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

⁶ And he said, It is too small a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel: I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation unto the ends of the earth. ⁷ Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he has chosen you.

⁵ The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned backward. ⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked out the beard: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

¹³ Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. ¹⁴ As many were astonished at you; so his appearance was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

² For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no stately form nor splendor; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. ³ He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

¹¹ He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

²³ And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.

²⁶ And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

⁸ Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you, and your fellows that sit before you: for they are a wondrous sign: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes unto you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon a donkey, and upon a colt the foal of a donkey.

¹⁸ Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show justice to the Gentiles.

²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

¹² And he answered and told them, Elijah truly comes first, and restores all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be treated with contempt.

⁴⁴ And whosoever of you will be the first, shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

³ Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came from God, and went to God; ⁴ He rose from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. ⁵ After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. ⁶ Then came he to Simon Peter: and Peter said unto him, Lord, do you wash my feet? ⁷ Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do you know not now; but you shall know hereafter. ⁸ Peter said unto him, You shall never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash you not, you have no part with me. ⁹ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, He that is washed needs not except to wash his feet, but is clean completely: and you are clean, but not all. ¹¹ For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, You are not all clean. ¹² So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was seated again, he said unto them, Know you what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord: and you say rightly; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet.

³ Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was made of the descendants of David according to the flesh;

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

⁸ Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich.

⁴ But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not a thing to be grasped to be equal with God:

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. ¹⁰ For it befitted him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. ¹¹ For both he that sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, ¹² Saying, I will declare your name unto my brethren, in the midst of the congregation will I sing praise unto you. ¹³ And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children whom God has given me. ¹⁴ Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; ¹⁵ And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. ¹⁶ For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the nature of Abraham. ¹⁷ Therefore in all things he had to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. ¹⁸ For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help them that are tempted.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

² Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

³ Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

²³ His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that your land be not defiled, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

⁶ Sacrifice and offering you did not desire; my ears have you opened: burnt offering and sin offering have you not required. ⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, ⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God: yea, your law is within my heart.

³³ The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.

² And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his clothing was white as the light.

³⁹ And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.

⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, your will be done.

² And after six days Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John, and led them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. ³ And his clothing became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can whiten them.

²⁹ And as he prayed, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his clothing was white and glistening.

³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

¹⁸ No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

²⁸ Father, glorify your name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. ²⁹ The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spoke to him. ³⁰ Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. ³¹ Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. ³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

³³ In his humiliation his justice was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

¹⁹ For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own, zealous of good works.

⁵ So also Christ glorified not himself to be made a high priest; but he that said unto him, You are my Son, today have I begotten you. ⁶ As he says also in another place, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. ⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; ⁸ Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; ⁹ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do your will, O God. ⁸ Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin you desired not, neither had pleasure in them; which are offered by the law; ⁹ Then said he, Lo, I come to do your will, O God. He takes away the first, that he may establish the second.

²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.

¹⁸ For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit:

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

⁶ Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. ⁷ I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you. ⁸ Ask of me, and I shall give you the nations for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. ⁹ You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. ¹⁰ Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth. ¹¹ Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. ¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

⁵ For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and have crowned him with glory and honor. ⁶ You made him to have dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet: ⁷ All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; ⁸ The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas.

⁶ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: the scepter of your kingdom is a righteous scepter. ⁷ You love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.

²⁹ But I am poor and sorrowful: let your salvation, O God, set me up on high. ³⁰ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

¹⁷ His name shall endure forever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. ¹⁸ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only does wondrous things. ¹⁹ And blessed be his glorious name forever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

²⁷ Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

¹⁴ Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name.

¹ [A Psalm of David.] The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.

⁵ The Lord at your right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

⁶ And he said, It is too small a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel: I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation unto the ends of the earth. ⁷ Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he has chosen you. ⁸ Thus says the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you: and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant to the people, to establish the earth, to cause them to inherit the desolate heritages;

¹³ Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

¹² Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he has poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. ⁴⁵ Just as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God has made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.

¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

²⁷ All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son will reveal him.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

²² All things are delivered to me by my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. ³⁶ He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.

²² For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son: ²³ That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father who has sent him. ²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. ²⁵ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself; so has he given to the Son to have life in himself; ²⁷ And has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

³ Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came from God, and went to God;

¹ These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you: ² As you have given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as you have given him. ³ And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

³² This Jesus has God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. ³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured forth this, which you now see and hear. ³⁴ For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he said himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit on my right hand, ³⁵ Until I make your foes your footstool. ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

³¹ Him has God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

⁹ For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. ¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? or why do you despise your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. ¹¹ For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

²⁴ Then comes the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. ²⁵ For he must reign, till he has put all enemies under his feet. ²⁶ The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. ²⁷ For he has put all things under his feet. But when he says all things are put under him, it is clear that he is excepted, who did put all things under him.

²⁰ Which he performed in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come: ²² And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, ²³ Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.

¹⁸ And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

⁴ Being made so much better than the angels, as he has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

²² Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

¹⁷ For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁵ And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loves us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

²¹ To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.

¹² Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever and ever.

¹⁶ And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

⁴³ And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

²³ I have sworn by myself, the word has gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. ²⁴ Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. ²⁵ In the LORD shall all the descendants of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²⁹ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, ²⁹ And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of condemnation.

⁴ But what says the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

¹⁰ That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

¹⁴ For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁹ (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ The four and twenty elders fall down before him that is sitting on the throne, and worship him that lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

¹³ And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever. ¹⁴ And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshiped him that lives forever and ever.

¹³ And the sea gave up the dead who were in it; and death and hades delivered up the dead who were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

⁴⁹ Therefore will I give thanks unto you, O LORD, among the nations, and sing praises unto your name.

³² Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father who is in heaven.

¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

²² These words spoke his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

⁴² Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord: and you say rightly; for so I am.

³¹ Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. ³² If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall immediately glorify him.

¹³ And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

¹⁴ He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. ¹⁵ All things that the Father has are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.

¹ These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you:

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

³⁶ The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

⁹ That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ¹¹ For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. ¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

⁹ For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

¹¹ For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

⁹ And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to you among the Gentiles, and sing unto your name.

⁶ But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

³ Therefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.

⁴⁷ The first man is of the earth, made of dust: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

²¹ Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

² By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God.

⁷ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

⁵ He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white clothing; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

³ Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

¹¹ Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of you; and I am afraid of your judgments.

¹⁶ The labor of the righteous leads to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

⁴ The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

² For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, says the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.

⁵ Hear the word of the LORD, } you that tremble at his word; { Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

¹² And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

²³ Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, ²⁴ Strive to enter in at the narrow gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

²⁷ Labor not for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for on him has God the Father set his seal. ²⁸ Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? ²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he has sent.

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what will you have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told you what you must do.

²⁹ Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

⁷ To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:

¹¹ And this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. ¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. ¹³ Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and wantonness, not in strife and envying. ¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.

³ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

¹⁴ I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

²⁰ And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law of Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. ²² To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. ²³ And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. ²⁴ Know you not that they who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain. ²⁵ And every man that strives for self control is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ I therefore so run, not with uncertainty; so fight I, not as one that beats the air: ²⁷ But I roughly treat my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.

⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, since you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

¹⁵ And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, as he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him.

⁷ Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. ⁸ For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. ⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

⁵ Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

⁵ For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

²⁷ Only let your manner of life be as it becomes the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

²⁹ For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

¹⁹ But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

¹³ Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, ¹⁴ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

¹ Therefore, my brethren, dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

¹⁵ Now you Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me as concerning giving and receiving, but you only.

³ Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

¹⁰ Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¹ Let us therefore fear, lest, although a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

¹¹ Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

⁹ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have showed toward his name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. ¹¹ And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

¹ Therefore seeing we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily ensnare us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

²⁸ Therefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: ²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech you as aliens and exiles, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

⁵ And for this reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; ⁶ And to knowledge self control; and to self control patience; and to patience godliness; ⁷ And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. ⁸ For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall:

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

⁵⁸ That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.

¹⁴ But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? for all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. ¹⁵ For we are strangers before you, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding. ¹⁶ O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and is all your own. ¹⁷ I know also, my God, that you test the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy your people, who are present here, to offer willingly unto you. ¹⁸ O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and direct their heart unto you:

¹² Also the hand of God was upon Judah to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.

¹ Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

⁵ Then rose up the heads of the fathers’ houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had stirred, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.

²⁷ Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:

⁴ Then the king said unto me, For what do you make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

³ Your people shall be willing in the day of your power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: you have the dew of your youth.

³⁶ Incline my heart unto your testimonies, and not to covetousness.

⁴ Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their delicacies.

¹ The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turns it wherever he will.

¹² LORD, you will ordain peace for us: for you also have done all our works in us.

³³ But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

³⁸ And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

²⁷ John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me.

⁶⁵ And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

²¹ And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

¹¹ (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calls;)

¹⁶ So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.

⁶ And there are diversities of workings, but it is the same God who works all in all.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

⁵ Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

⁵ Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

⁹ Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself:

¹¹ In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will:

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ Even when we were dead in sins, has made us alive together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;)

⁸ For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

¹¹ Therefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ To which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

⁴ But after the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, ⁵ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit;

²¹ Make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁶ Do not err, my beloved brethren. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ¹⁸ Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

⁷ And in the morning, then you shall see the glory of the LORD; for he hears your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that you murmur against us? ⁸ And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.

²⁷ How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

²⁵ But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

¹⁷ Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fatted ox with hatred. ¹⁸ A wrathful man stirs up strife: but he that is slow to anger quiets strife.

¹¹ And when they had received it, they murmured against the owner of the house,

³³ And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that you disputed among yourselves on the way? ³⁴ But they held their peace: for on the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

⁵ For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

¹ And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.

² When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

⁷ And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, you know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

³⁹ And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

¹⁸ If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men.

¹ Receive him that is weak in the faith, but not for passing judgment.

¹⁷ Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.

¹⁰ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. ¹¹ For it has been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them who are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. ¹² Now this I say, that every one of you says, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

³ For you are yet carnal: for while there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men? ⁴ For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are you not carnal? ⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

¹⁰ Neither murmur you, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

¹³ And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

¹⁵ See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

³ If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; ⁴ He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting over questions and disputes of words, out of which comes envy, strife, railings, evil suspicions, ⁵ Perverse wranglings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw yourself.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

²⁰ For the anger of man works not the righteousness of God.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, boast not, and lie not against the truth.

⁹ Murmur not one against another, brethren, lest you be judged: behold, the judge stands before the door.

¹¹ Let him turn away from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.

⁹ Practice hospitality one to another without grudging.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words, holding men in admiration for the sake of advantage.

⁵ They have corrupted themselves, their blemish is not the blemish of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.

⁵ For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

¹ Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. ¹⁵ Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under a bushel, but on a lamp stand; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

⁴⁵ That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

⁴⁸ Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I endure you? bring him here to me.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

³⁵ He was a burning and a shining light: and you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

⁴⁰ And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.

³⁰ Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

¹⁹ For your obedience is well known unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and innocent concerning evil.

⁸ Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ Therefore come out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

¹ Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children; ² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling fragrance.

⁷ Be not therefore partakers with them. ⁸ For you were once darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

²⁷ That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

¹⁰ That you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ;

²³ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

¹⁰ And let these also first be tested; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

⁷ And these things give in a charge, that they may be blameless.

¹⁴ I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, rule the house, give no occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

²⁰ Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

⁶ If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of rebellion or unruly.

¹⁰ Not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

¹⁵ These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise you.

²⁶ For such a high priest was befitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: ¹⁵ But as he who has called you is holy, so be holy in all manner of conduct; ¹⁶ Because it is written, You will be holy; for I am holy. ¹⁷ And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your exile here in fear:

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹² Having your conduct honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

¹ Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not. ² Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. ³ And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

⁹ Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

⁹ I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not restrained my lips, O LORD, you know.

¹⁷ O God, you have taught me from my youth: and to this day have I declared your wondrous works.

⁴ Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing, and in vain: yet surely my due justice is with the LORD, and my recompense with my God.

²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak in light: and what you hear in the ear, that preach upon the housetops.

⁸ Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

⁶³ It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words of eternal life.

²⁶ Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fears God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

⁸ But what says it? The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; ⁹ That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ¹¹ For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. ¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. ¹³ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ¹⁴ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? ¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! ¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report?

²⁶ I therefore so run, not with uncertainty; so fight I, not as one that beats the air:

¹⁴ As also you have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as you also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

² And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them who were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

¹¹ I am afraid for you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.

¹⁹ For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

⁵ For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor be in vain.

¹⁵ Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ¹⁶ But shun profane and vain utterances: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. ¹⁷ And their word will eat as does a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

¹² For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

²³ Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is thirsty come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul answered, What mean you to weep and to break my heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

¹⁶ That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

⁴ Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my boasting of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation.

¹⁵ And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you, though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.

²⁰ According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

³⁰ Because for the work of Christ he was near unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

¹⁸ But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.

²⁴ Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:

⁸ So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because you were dear unto us.

⁷ Therefore, brethren, we were encouraged over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: ⁸ For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy with which we joy for your sakes before our God;

⁶ For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

¹⁵ By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. ¹⁶ But to do good and to share forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

⁵ You also, as living stones, are built up into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ By this perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

¹³ Therefore I desire that you faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

¹ Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not troublesome, but for you it is safe.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

² My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials; ³ Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. ⁴ But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.

⁵ Thus says the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD.

²¹ And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

¹² And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

²¹ Timothy my fellow worker, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, greet you.

¹⁷ For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

¹³ In whom you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

²¹ But that you also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: ²² Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that you might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.

¹ Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

²³ Him therefore I hope to send presently, as soon as I shall see how it will go with me. ²⁴ But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly. ²⁵ Yet I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labor, and fellow soldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

²⁸ I sent him therefore the more eagerly, that, when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

⁸ Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your state, and comfort your hearts; ⁹ With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.

² And sent Timothy, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to encourage you concerning your faith:

⁶ But now when Timothy came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and love, and that you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: ⁷ Therefore, brethren, we were encouraged over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: ⁸ For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.

³ We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward each other abounds;

¹² For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

⁵ Hearing of your love and faith, which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; ⁶ That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. ⁷ For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints are refreshed by you, brother.

¹⁵ For you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we shall live, and do this, or that.

³ For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth. ⁴ I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

¹ And it came to pass, when he had finished speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

³ Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

¹³ But it was you, a man my equal, my guide, and my close friend.

²⁹ Many daughters have done virtuously, but you excel them all.

¹³ The hireling flees, because he is a hireling, and cares not for the sheep.

⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put therein.

¹⁰ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. ¹¹ For it has been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them who are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

¹⁰ Now if Timothy comes, see that he may be with you without fear: for he works the work of the Lord, as I also do.

² Fulfill you my joy, that you be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

²² But you know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he has served with me in the gospel.

¹¹ And Jesus, who is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellow workers unto the kingdom of God, who have been a comfort unto me.

² Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁵ When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded in you also.

¹¹ Yea, they are greedy dogs who can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, everyone for his gain, from his own quarter.

¹⁰ Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nothing? neither do you kindle fire on my altar for nothing. I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

²⁴ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

⁵⁷ And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow you wherever you go. ⁵⁸ And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head. ⁵⁹ And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but you go and preach the kingdom of God. ⁶¹ And another also said, Lord, I will follow you; but let me first go bid them farewell, who are at home at my house. ⁶² And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

²⁶ If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

¹³ Now when Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

³⁸ But Paul thought it not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

³³ Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

⁵ Does not behave itself rudely, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, keeps no record of evil;

⁵ For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds by Christ.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: ¹⁵ And that he died for all, that they who live should no longer live unto themselves, but unto him who died for them, and rose again.

¹⁶ At my first defense no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

³ Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places: for they all knew that his father was a Greek. ⁴ And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem. ⁵ And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily. ⁶ Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia, ⁷ After they were come to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit permitted them not. ⁸ And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. ⁹ And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, beseeching him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. ¹⁰ And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel unto them. ¹¹ Therefore setting sail from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; ¹² And from there to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

⁹ For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether you be obedient in all things.

⁸ I speak not by commandment, but to prove by the earnestness of others, the sincerity of your love.

²² And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.

²⁴ Therefore show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

¹⁸ This charge I commit unto you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which were made concerning you, that you by them might war a good warfare;

² To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁰ But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,

⁴ To Titus, my own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

³ And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray you, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

²⁸ When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you to Spain. ²⁹ And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

²⁵ And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; ²⁶ That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

²² At the same time prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.

¹² Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

¹⁴ But I trust I shall shortly see you, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to you. Our friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.

¹³ As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refreshes the soul of his masters.

¹⁸ As you have sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

⁹ For we are laborers together with God: you are God's field, you are God's building.

¹³ I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from there into Macedonia.

²² And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you. ²³ If any do inquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker concerning you: or if our brethren be inquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

⁷ Have I committed an offense in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely? ⁸ I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service. ⁹ And when I was present with you, and in want, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.

³ And I entreat you also, true yokefellow, help those women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other of my fellow laborers, whose names are in the book of life.

⁷ As you also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;

³ You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

¹ Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellow laborer, ² And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in your house:

²⁴ Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow laborers.

¹ Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

³⁹ And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.

¹⁷ And David spoke unto the LORD when he saw the angel that struck the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let your hand, I pray you, be against me, and against my father’s house.

²⁷ If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:

²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

²⁵ Heaviness in the heart of man makes him stoop: but a good word makes him glad.

³ To provide for them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

²⁸ Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

³⁷ And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very distressed.

³⁵ Jesus wept. ³⁶ Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

¹¹ For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established;

² That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

²⁶ And whether one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it.

¹⁴ And by their prayer for you, who long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

² Bear you one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

³ I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

⁶ In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold trials:

¹ In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, } Thus says the LORD, { Set your house in order; for you shall die, and not live.

¹⁹ He shall deliver you in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch you.

A song at the dedication of the house of David.] I will extol you, O LORD; for you have lifted me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me. ² O LORD my God, I cried unto you, and you have healed me. ³ O LORD, you have brought up my soul from the grave: you have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

¹⁰ Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be my helper. ¹¹ You have turned for me my mourning into dancing: you have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

³ Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; ⁴ Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

¹⁸ Their soul abhors all manner of food; and they draw near unto the gates of death. ¹⁹ Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saves them out of their distresses. ²⁰ He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. ²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! ²² And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

¹ For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knows either love or hatred by all that is before them. ² All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrifices, and to him that sacrifices not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that swears, as he that fears an oath.

⁸ In measure, by sending it away, you will contend with it: he removes it with his fierce blast in the day of the east wind.

¹⁷ Behold, for my peace I had great bitterness: but you have in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for you have cast all my sins behind your back.

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame scorch you.

¹⁸ When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.

²⁴ O LORD, correct me, but with justice; not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.

³ You did say, Woe is me now! for the LORD has added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

² O LORD, I have heard your speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.

³ Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick. ⁴ When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

³⁹ Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. ⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴¹ And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

¹³ There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

⁷ So that instead you ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with too much sorrow.

²⁷ And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived: ²⁸ And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.

²⁹ And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. ³⁰ And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are yet alive.

¹¹ And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see your face: and, lo, God has showed me also your descendants.

²² And you now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man takes from you.

³⁸ Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

²⁶ For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because you had heard that he had been sick. ²⁷ For indeed he was sick near unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

⁷ How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publishes peace; that brings good tidings of good, that publishes salvation; that says unto Zion, Your God reigns!

⁴⁰ He that receives you receives me, and he that receives me receives him that sent me. ⁴¹ He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

⁵ And whosoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receives whomsoever I send receives me; and he that receives me receives him that sent me.

⁸ And there was great joy in that city.

¹⁰ Who also honored us with many honors; and when we departed, they put on board such things as were necessary.

¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

² That you receive her in the Lord, as becomes saints, and that you assist her in whatever business she has need of you: for she has been a helper of many, and of myself also.

¹⁸ For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge them that are such.

² Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

¹⁸ For not he that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

⁹ (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) ¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

¹⁰ Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, and Mark, cousin to Barnabas, (concerning whom you received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)

¹² And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

¹⁷ Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine.

¹⁷ Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

¹⁰ Therefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, speaking against us with malicious words: and not content with that, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids them that would, and casts them out of the church.

³⁶ Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came unto me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you hungry, and fed you? or thirsty, and gave you drink? ³⁸ When saw we you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you? ³⁹ Or when saw we you sick, or in prison, and came unto you? ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Since you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.

⁴ Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

¹⁷ I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.

¹⁹ For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, ²⁰ According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

¹⁷ Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

²⁷ For indeed he was sick near unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

¹⁰ But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me has flourished again; in which you were also concerned, but you lacked opportunity.

¹³ Whom I would have retained with me, that in your stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death.
