Praise you the name of the LORD; praise him, O you servants of the LORD. ² You that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God, ³ Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant. ⁴ For the LORD has chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. ⁵ For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. ⁶ Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. ⁷ He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain; he brings the wind out of his treasuries. ⁸ Who struck the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast. ⁹ Who sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants. ¹⁰ Who struck great nations, and slew mighty kings; ¹¹ Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan: ¹² And gave their land for a heritage, a heritage unto Israel his people. ¹³ Your name, O LORD, endures forever; and your memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations. ¹⁴ For the LORD will judge his people, and he will have compassion on his servants. ¹⁵ The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ¹⁶ They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; ¹⁷ They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. ¹⁸ They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusts in them. ¹⁹ Bless the LORD, O house of Israel: bless the LORD, O house of Aaron: ²⁰ Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: you that fear the LORD, bless the LORD. ²¹ Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, who dwells at Jerusalem. ⁵ And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. ⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

⁵ Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God forever and ever: and blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

¹⁷ I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

³⁷ So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required: ³⁸ And Obed-edom with his brethren, threescore and eight; Obed-edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be gatekeepers: ³⁹ And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon, ⁴⁰ To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel; ⁴¹ And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endures forever; ⁴² And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were gatekeepers.

³⁰ And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at evening;

¹³ Those that are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

⁸ Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.

¹⁹ In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise you the LORD.

³⁷ And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, who departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

⁵ Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a special treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: ⁶ And you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak unto the children of Israel.

⁶ For you are a holy people unto the LORD your God: the LORD your God has chosen you to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. ⁷ The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all people:

¹⁵ Only the LORD had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their descendants after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

⁹ For the LORD’S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

²² For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it has pleased the LORD to make you his people.

¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.

⁶ O you offspring of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen.

⁸ But you, Israel, are my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the descendant of Abraham my friend.

²⁰ The beast of the field shall honor me, the jackals and the ostriches: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. ²¹ This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.

¹⁰ Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the LORD. ¹¹ And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you. ¹² And the LORD shall inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

¹⁷ And they shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own, zealous of good works.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹⁷ For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, mighty, and awesome, who regards not persons, nor takes reward:

¹ [A song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.] Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

⁸ Among the gods there is none like unto you, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto your works. ⁹ All nations which you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord; and shall glorify your name. ¹⁰ For you are great, and do wondrous things: you are God alone.

⁶ For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

³ For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

⁴ For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. ⁵ For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.

⁹ For you, LORD, are high above all the earth: you are exalted far above all gods.

²² It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are as grasshoppers; that stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in:

²⁵ To whom then will you liken me, or shall I be equal? says the Holy One.

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to endure his indignation. ¹¹ Thus shall you say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.

²⁹ Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, who speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap: because there is no other God that can deliver in this way.

²⁶ I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and steadfast forever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. ²⁷ He delivers and rescues, and he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

⁹ For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

¹¹ The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

³ But our God is in the heavens: he has done whatsoever he has pleased.

¹³ To him who divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endures forever: ¹⁴ And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endures forever: ¹⁵ But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endures forever.

¹⁰ Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can restrain his hand, or say unto him, What do you?

¹³ For, lo, he that forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares unto man what is his thought, that makes the morning darkness, and treads upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.

⁶ It is he that builds his chambers in the heavens, and has founded his vault upon the earth; he that calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.

²⁶ And he said unto them, Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. ²⁷ But the men marveled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

⁵ And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. ⁶ But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

¹ And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

⁴¹ And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get you up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. ⁴² So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, ⁴³ And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. ⁴⁴ And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there arises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and get you down, that the rain stops you not. ⁴⁵ And it came to pass in a little while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

¹⁰ Who gives rain upon the earth, and sends waters upon the fields:

²⁵ To make the weight for the wind; and he apportions the waters by measure. ²⁶ When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:

²² Have you entered into the treasury of the snow? or have you seen the treasury of the hail, ²³ Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? ²⁴ By what way is the light distributed, which scatters the east wind upon the earth? ²⁵ Who has divided a channel for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; ²⁶ To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, in which there is no man; ²⁷ To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender grass to spring forth? ²⁸ Has the rain a father? or who has begotten the drops of dew?

²⁵ For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, who lifts up the waves thereof.

⁸ Fire, and hail; snow, and vapors; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

¹³ When he utters his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightnings with rain, and brings forth the wind out of his storehouses.

²² Are there any among the idols of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? are not you he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon you: for you have made all these things.

⁴ But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken.

¹ Ask of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to everyone grass in the field.

⁸ The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell from where it came, and where it goes: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.

¹² For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

²⁹ And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. ³⁰ And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

¹⁵ And it came to pass, when Pharaoh refused to let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

⁵¹ And struck down all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

³⁶ He struck also all the firstborn in their land, the first of all their strength.

¹⁰ To him that struck Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endures forever:

¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made you a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet. ² You shall speak all that I command you: and Aaron your brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land. ³ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. ⁴ But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth my armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. ⁵ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth my hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them. ⁶ And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. ⁷ And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spoke unto Pharaoh. ⁸ And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, ⁹ When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Show a miracle for proof: then you shall say unto Aaron, Take your rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. ¹¹ Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. ¹² For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. ¹³ And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said. ¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuses to let the people go. ¹⁵ Get you unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goes out unto the water; and you shall stand by the river's bank until he comes; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shall you take in your hand.

³⁴ Or has God ever ventured to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

²² And the LORD showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:

¹⁰ And showed signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for you knew that they dealt arrogantly against them. So did you get you a name, as it is this day.

⁴³ How he had worked his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan: ⁴⁴ And had turned their rivers into blood; and their streams, that they could not drink. ⁴⁵ He sent swarms of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them. ⁴⁶ He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labor unto the locust. ⁴⁷ He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with frost. ⁴⁸ He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to fiery thunderbolts. ⁴⁹ He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending avenging angels among them. ⁵⁰ He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

²⁷ They showed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. ²⁸ He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word. ²⁹ He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

¹⁵ But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endures forever.

⁹ Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Are you not him who has cut Rahab, and wounded the sea monster? ¹⁰ Are you not him who has dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that has made the depths of the sea a road for the ransomed to pass over?

²⁰ Who has set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and have made yourself a name, as at this day; ²¹ And have brought forth your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

³⁶ He brought them out, after he had showed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

²⁴ And Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified.

² How you did drive out the nations with your hand, and planted them; how you did afflict the people, and cast them out. ³ For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, because you had favor unto them.

¹⁷ To him who struck great kings: for his mercy endures forever: ¹⁸ And slew famous kings: for his mercy endures forever: ¹⁹ Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endures forever: ²⁰ And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endures forever: ²¹ And gave their land for a heritage: for his mercy endures forever: ²² Even a heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endures forever.

²¹ And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying, ²² Let me pass through your land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king's highway, until we are past your borders. ²³ And Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel. ²⁴ And Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified. ²⁵ And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and established: ²⁸ For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it has consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! you are undone, O people of Chemosh: he has given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites. ³⁰ We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reaches unto Medeba. ³¹ Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites. ³² And Moses sent to spy out Jazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there. ³³ And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei. ³⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did unto Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon. ³⁵ So they struck him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left of him alive: and they possessed his land.

³⁰ But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD your God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as it is this day.

⁷ And when you came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle, and we defeated them:

¹ Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them; ² That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty. ³ Therefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying, ⁴ Come up unto me, and help me, that we may attack Gibeon: for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel. ⁵ Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their armies, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it. ⁶ And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Abandon not your hand from your servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us. ⁷ So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor. ⁸ And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into your hand; there shall not a man of them stand before you. ⁹ Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night. ¹⁰ And the LORD brought panic upon them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goes up to Bethhoron, and struck them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. ¹¹ And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were on the decent to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more who died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword. ¹² Then spoke Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand you still upon Gibeon; and you, Moon, in the valley of Aijalon.

⁷ And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel struck on this side of Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that rises up toward Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions; ⁸ In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the lowland, and in the slopes, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: ⁹ The king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one; ¹⁰ The king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one; ¹¹ The king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one; ¹² The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one; ¹³ The king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one; ¹⁴ The king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one; ¹⁵ The king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one; ¹⁶ The king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one; ¹⁷ The king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one; ¹⁸ The king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one; ¹⁹ The king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one; ²⁰ The king of Shimronmeron, one; the king of Achshaph, one; ²¹ The king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one; ²² The king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam in Carmel, one; ²³ The king of Dor in the heights of Dor, one; the king of the people of Gilgal, one; ²⁴ The king of Tirzah, one: all the kings thirty and one.

²² Moreover you gave them kingdoms and nations, and did distribute them even into the corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

⁵⁴ And you shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more you shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer you shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falls; according to the tribes of your fathers you shall inherit.

⁸ And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

²³ So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

⁷ And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel struck on this side of Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that rises up toward Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

¹ [To the Chief Musician for the Sons of Korah, a maschil.] We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the times of old.

⁵⁵ He cast out the nations also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

¹⁵ And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

³⁶ For the LORD shall judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none left, slave or free.

¹⁶ And they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

¹⁵ And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, restrain now your hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

⁸ The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity that is in me.

⁴ He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.

¹³ Return, O LORD, how long? and may you have compassion concerning your servants.

¹³ Before the LORD: for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

⁸ How shall I give you up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver you, Israel? how shall I make you as Admah? how shall I set you as Zeboiim? my heart is turned within me, my compassion is stirred. ⁹ I will not execute the fierceness of my anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of you: and I will not enter into the city.

³ The LORD relented concerning this: It shall not be, says the LORD.

² And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray you, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that you are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and you relent from the destruction.

²⁸ And there you shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ⁵ They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: ⁶ They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: ⁷ They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. ⁸ They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusts in them.

¹⁹ And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

¹⁹ The workman melts a graven image, and the goldsmith spreads it over with gold, and casts silver chains. ²⁰ He that is so impoverished that he has no offering chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks unto him a skillful workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not move.

⁹ They that make a graven image are all of them nothing; and their precious things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. ¹⁰ Who fashions a god, or molds a graven image, that is profitable for nothing? ¹¹ Behold, all his fellows shall be put to shame: and the workmen, they are mere men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be put to shame together. ¹² The blacksmith with the tongs works in the coals, and fashions it with hammers, and works it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength fails: he drinks no water, and is faint. ¹³ The carpenter stretches out his rule; he marks it out with a line; he fashions it with planes, and he marks it out with the compass, and makes it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house. ¹⁴ He hews himself down cedars, and takes the cypress and the oak, which he secures for himself among the trees of the forest: he plants a pine, and the rain does nourish it. ¹⁵ Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take of it, and warm himself; yea, he kindles it, and bakes bread; yea, he makes a god, and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down to it. ¹⁶ He burns part of it in the fire; with part of it he eats flesh; he roasts a roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warms himself, and says, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire: ¹⁷ And the rest of it he makes into a god, even his graven image: he falls down unto it, and worships it, and prays unto it, and says, Deliver me; for you are my god. ¹⁸ They have not known nor understood: for he has shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand. ¹⁹ And none considers in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon its coals; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the rest of it an abomination? shall I fall down to a block of wood? ²⁰ He feeds on ashes: a deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

⁶ They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship. ⁷ They bear it upon the shoulder, they carry it, and set it in its place, and it stands; from its place shall it not move: yea, one shall cry unto it, yet can it not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.

³ For the customs of the people are vain: for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. ⁴ They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it moves not. ⁵ They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. ⁶ Since as there is none like unto you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might. ⁷ Who would not fear you, O King of nations? for to you is it due: since among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto you. ⁸ But they are altogether senseless and foolish: the wooden idol is a doctrine of vanities. ⁹ Silver beaten into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the craftsman, and of the hands of the goldsmith: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of skillful men.

¹⁸ What profits the graven image that its maker has shaped it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusts in it, to make dumb idols? ¹⁹ Woe unto him that says to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in it.

²⁹ Therefore then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Deity is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people dull, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and return, and be healed.

¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who said, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: ¹⁵ For this people's heart has become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. ¹⁶ But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

⁷ Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all you gods.

⁸ They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusts in them.

⁸ But they are altogether senseless and foolish: the wooden idol is a doctrine of vanities.

⁴ In whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

⁹ O Israel, trust you in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. ¹⁰ O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. ¹¹ You that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

¹ O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endures forever. ² Let Israel now say, that his mercy endures forever. ³ Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endures forever. ⁴ Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endures forever.

¹⁰ All your works shall praise you, O LORD; and your saints shall bless you.

¹⁹ He shows his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. ²⁰ He has not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise you the LORD.

¹⁴ He also exalts the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise you the LORD.

⁵ And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all you his servants, and you that fear him, both small and great.

⁶ But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

⁹ We have thought of your lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of your temple.

² In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

⁵ The LORD shall bless you out of Zion: and you shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

¹³ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation. ¹⁴ This is my rest forever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

³ The LORD that made heaven and earth bless you out of Zion.

⁶ Cry out and shout, you inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of you.
