⁴ My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

²⁰ But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to catch the poor: he does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net.

¹² Like as a lion that is greedy of its prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. ¹³ Arise, O LORD, confront him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, by your sword:

¹³ They gaped on me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. ¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my body. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue clings to my jaws; and you have brought me to the dust of death. ¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

¹⁷ Lord, how long will you look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my precious life from the lions.

² Your tongue devises evil; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

²¹ The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

⁶ Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

⁷ Behold, they bellow out with their mouths: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, does hear?

³ Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

¹⁸ There is one that speaks like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise brings health.

¹⁸ A man that bears false witness against his neighbor is a club, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

¹⁵ As a roaring lion, and a charging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

¹⁴ There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

²² My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: because before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, have I done no wrong. ²³ Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of harm was found upon him, because he believed in his God. ²⁴ And the king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came at the bottom of the den.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that said to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water. ¹¹ The woman said unto him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from where then have you that living water?

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

¹⁵ And out of his mouth goes forth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
