¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

¹¹ O you afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, and lay your foundations with sapphires.

² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; ³ Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; ⁴ Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

¹⁸ And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. ¹¹ For no other foundation can a man lay than what is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

⁹ And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision.

²⁰ And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone;

⁵ Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

¹⁰ For he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

¹⁷ But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

²⁰ Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets; for God has avenged you on her.

¹⁹ And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; ²⁰ The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, carnelian; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprase; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: each of the gates was a single pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
