¹⁶ Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and you that fear God, give audience.

¹² And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, You men of Israel, why marvel you at this? or why look you so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

² A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

³⁵ But in every nation he that fears him, and works righteousness, is accepted with him.

¹⁷ But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go show these things unto James, and to the brothers. And he departed, and went into another place.

²⁶ Men and brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fears God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

⁴² And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles asked that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. ⁴³ Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas grown bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing you put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

³³ And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defense unto the people.

⁴⁰ And when he had given him license, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spoke unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
