⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek you?

²¹ From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ²³ And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceedingly sorry.

¹⁸ Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, ¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to whip, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

² You know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

²¹ And as they did eat, he said, Truthfully I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

³¹ Then says Jesus unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

³³ Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: ³⁴ And they shall mock him, and shall whip him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

³¹ Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. ³² For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spitted on: ³³ And they shall whip him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

⁶ He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee, ⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

¹⁷ Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. ¹⁸ No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

¹¹ For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, You are not all clean.

⁷ Then asked he them again, Whom seek you? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, says, I thirst.

²⁸ You have made known to me the ways of life; you shall make me full of joy with your countenance.

²⁴ And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, you are God, which have made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: ²⁵ Who by the mouth of your servant David have said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ²⁷ For of a truth against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ For to do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done.

²² And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: ²³ Save that the Holy Ghost witnesses in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

¹ Since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
