⁶ But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

¹⁷ That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

⁷ Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

¹⁰ And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and the flower of it falls, and the grace of the fashion of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. ¹² These are spots in your feasts of love, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withers, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
