⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits fit for repentance: ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. ¹⁰ And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

¹⁶ You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? ¹⁷ Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ²⁰ Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.

²⁶ You blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

⁴ Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine; no more can you, unless you abide in me. ⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing. ⁶ If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.

¹² Can the fig tree, my brothers, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

⁸ Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.
