¹ In the same way, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some are disobedient to the word, they may be won over without a word by the conduct of their wives, ² when they* see your respectful, pure conduct. ³ Let your* adornment not be the external kind, braiding hair and putting on gold jewelry or putting on fine clothing, ⁴ but the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is highly valuable in the sight of God. ⁵ For in the same way formerly the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves by* being subject to their own husbands, ⁶ like Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you have become when you* do good and are not frightened with respect to any terror. ⁷ Husbands, in the same way live with your wives _⌊knowledgeably_⌋*, as with the weaker female vessel, showing them honor as fellow heirs also of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered. ⁸ And finally, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, showing mutual affection, compassionate, humble, ⁹ not repaying evil for evil or insult for insult, but on the other hand blessing others, because for this reason you were called, so that you could inherit a blessing. ¹⁰ For
"The one who wants to love life and see good days must keep his* tongue from evil and his lips must not speak deceit. ¹¹ And he must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.* ¹³ And who is the one who will harm you if you are a zealous adherent for what is good? ¹⁴ But even if you might suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their intimidation or be disturbed,* ¹⁵ but set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for an accounting concerning the hope that is in you. ¹⁶ But do so with courtesy and respect, having a good conscience, so that in the things in which you are slandered, the ones who malign your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame. ¹⁷ For it is better to suffer for doing good, _⌊if God wills it_⌋*, than for doing evil. ¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, in order that he could bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit, ¹⁹ in which also he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ who were formerly disobedient, when the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while* an ark was being constructed, in which a few—that is, eight souls—were rescued through water. ²¹ And* also, corresponding to this, baptism now saves you, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, ²² who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, with angels and authorities and powers having been subjected to him.

¹⁶ To the woman he said,
"I will greatly increase _⌊your pain in childbearing_⌋;* in pain you shall bear children. And to your husband shall be your desire. And he shall rule over you."

¹⁶ And Memucan said before the king and the officials, "Not only has Queen Vashti done wrong to the king, but to all the officials and all of the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus. ¹⁷ For this deed of the queen _⌊will be known_⌋* to all the women, causing them _⌊to look with contempt on their husbands_⌋,* as they will say, 'King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him but she did not come!' ¹⁸ This day the women of nobility from Persia and Media will respond to all the officials of the king and there will be no end to contempt and anger. ¹⁹ _⌊If it pleases_⌋* the king, let _⌊a royal edict_⌋* go out from him, and let it be written among the laws of Persia and Media so that it will not be altered, that Vashti cannot come before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to her neighbor who is better than she. ²⁰ And let the king's decree that he will make be proclaimed in all his kingdom, because it is vast and all the women will honor their husbands, great and small."*

³⁰ The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life, and he who captures souls* is wise.

¹⁹ A brother who is offended is worse than a city of strength, and quarrels are like the bars of a fortification.

¹⁵ "Now if your brother sins against you, go correct him between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

¹⁷ But thanks be to God that you were slaves of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart the pattern of teaching to which you were entrusted,

² For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of the husband.

¹⁶ But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?"*

¹⁶ For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

¹⁹ For although I* am free from all people, I have enslaved myself to all, in order that I may gain more. ²⁰ I have become like a Jew to the Jews, in order that I may gain the Jews. To those under the law I became as under the law (although I* myself am not under the law) in order that I may gain those under the law. ²¹ To those outside the law I became as outside the law (although I* am not outside the law of God, but subject to the law of Christ) in order that I may gain those outside the law. ²² To the weak I became weak, in order that I may gain the weak. I have become all things to all people, in order that by all means I may save some.

³ But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of the woman, and the head of Christ is God.

³⁴ the women must be silent in the churches, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but they must be in submission, just as the law also says.

²² —wives to their own husbands as to the Lord, ²³ because the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church (he himself being the Savior of the body). ²⁴ But as the church is subject to Christ, thus also wives should be subject* to their husbands in everything.

³³ Only you also, each one of you, must thus love his own wife as himself, and the wife _⌊must respect_⌋* her husband.

¹⁸ Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

⁵ Live with wisdom toward those outside, making the most of the time.

⁸ with burning flame* giving punishment to those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus,

¹¹ A woman must learn in quietness with all submission. ¹² But I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but _⌊to remain quiet_⌋*.

³ Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderous, not enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, ⁴ in order that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, ⁵ to be self-controlled, pure, busy at home, good, being subject to their own husbands, in order that the word of God may not be slandered. ⁶ Likewise, exhort the young men to be self-controlled,

⁹ and being perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him,

⁸ By faith Abraham, when he* was called, obeyed to go out to a place that he was going to receive for an inheritance, and he went out, not knowing where he was going.

¹⁹ My brothers, if anyone among you should wander away from the truth and someone turns him back, ²⁰ he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from the error of his way will save that person's* soul from death, and will cover over a great number of sins.

²² Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently from the heart,*

⁷ Husbands, in the same way live with your wives _⌊knowledgeably_⌋*, as with the weaker female vessel, showing them honor as fellow heirs also of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

¹⁷ For it is the time for the judgment to begin out from the household of God. But if it begins out from us first, what will be the outcome for those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?

⁵ Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ,

²⁷ Only lead your lives in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent I hear _⌊your circumstances_⌋*, that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one soul contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,

²⁰ For our commonwealth exists in heaven, from which also we eagerly await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

²² Slaves, obey your _⌊human_⌋* masters in everything, not _⌊while being watched_⌋*, as people pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.

¹² Let no one look down on your youth, but be an example for the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

¹⁵ but as the one who called you is holy, you yourselves be holy in all your conduct,

¹² maintaining your good conduct among the Gentiles, so that in the things in which they slander you as evildoers, by seeing your good deeds they may glorify God on the day of visitation.

¹⁵ but set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for an accounting concerning the hope that is in you. ¹⁶ But do so with courtesy and respect, having a good conscience, so that in the things in which you are slandered, the ones who malign your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame.

¹¹ Because* all these things are being destroyed in this way, what sort of people must you be in holy behavior and godliness,

²² And it happened that as the camels finished drinking the man took a gold ring of a half shekel in weight and two bracelets for her arms, ten shekels in weight,

⁴⁷ Then I asked her and said, 'Whose daughter are you?' And she said, 'The daughter of Bethuel, son of Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him.' And I put the ring on her nose and the bracelets on her arms.

⁵³ And the servant brought out silver jewelry and gold jewelry, and garments, and he gave them to Rebekah. And he gave precious gifts to her brother and to her mother.

²² And a woman will ask from her neighbor and from the woman dwelling as an alien in her house for objects of silver and objects of gold and garments, and you will put them on your sons and on your daughters; and you will plunder Egypt."

⁴ And the people heard this troubling* word, and they mourned, and they each did not put their ornaments on themselves.

²² And they came, the men in addition to the women, all who were willing of heart; they brought brooches and jewelry rings and signet rings and ornaments—every variety of gold object—every man who waved a wave offering of gold for Yahweh,

⁸ And he made the basin of bronze and its stand of bronze from the mirrors of the serving women who served at the entrance of the tent of assembly.

³⁰ When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, so she painted her eyes with black eye paint and adorned her head and looked through the window.

¹ And it happened, on the third day, and Esther put on royal clothes, and she stood in the inner courtyard of the _⌊king's palace_⌋,* opposite the _⌊king's palace_⌋;* the king was sitting on his royal throne in the _⌊throne room_⌋* opposite the doorway of the palace.

⁹ Kings' daughters are among your noble ladies. The queen stands at your right hand in gold of Ophir.

¹⁸ In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets and the headbands and the crescent necklaces, ¹⁹ the pendants and the bracelets and the veils, ²⁰ the headdresses and the armlets and the sashes, and the _⌊perfume boxes_⌋* and the amulets, ²¹ the signet rings and the nose rings, ²² the festal robes and the mantles, and the cloaks and the handbags, ²³ and the mirrors and the linen garments, and the turbans and the wraps. ²⁴ And this shall happen: There will be a stench instead of perfume, and a rope instead of a sash, and baldness instead of a well-set hairdo, and a clothing wrap of sackcloth instead of a rich robe, branding instead of beauty.

¹ Awake! Awake; put on your strength, Zion! Put on the garments of your beauty, Jerusalem, _⌊holy city_⌋!* For the uncircumcised and the unclean shall not _⌊continue to_⌋* enter you any longer.

¹⁰ I will rejoice greatly in Yahweh; my being shall shout in exultation in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns himself with a head wrap like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewelry.

³² Can a young woman forget her ornaments?* Or a bride her sashes? Yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

³⁰ And you, O devastated one, what do you do, that you put on crimson, that you adorn yourself with ornaments of gold, that you make your eyes look bigger with the eye make-up? In vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers reject you; they seek your life.

⁷ Grow up;* I will make you like a plant of the field." And you grew up, and you became tall and _⌊reached full womanhood_⌋.* Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown, but you were naked and bare. ⁸ " 'And I passed by you, and I saw you, and look, _⌊your time of lovemaking had come_⌋,* and so I spread out my hem over you, and I covered your nakedness, and I swore to you, and I entered into* a covenant with you,' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, 'and _⌊you became mine_⌋.* ⁹ And I washed you with water, and I rinsed off your blood from on you, and I anointed you with oil. ¹⁰ And I clothed you with beautiful finished cloth, and I put sandals on you of fine leather, and I bound you in fine linen, and I covered you with costly fabric. ¹¹ And I adorned you with ornaments,* and I put a bracelet on your arms and a necklace on your neck. ¹² And I put an ornamental ring on your nose and earrings on your ears and a _⌊beautiful crown_⌋* on your head. ¹³ And you adorned yourself with gold and silver, and your clothing was fine linen and costly fabric and beautiful finished cloth; you ate finely milled flour and honey and olive oil, and you became exceedingly beautiful; _⌊you were fit to be a queen_⌋.*

⁴⁰ _⌊What is worse_⌋,* they sent for men _⌊who come_⌋* from a distant place, to whom a messenger was sent to them, and look! They came! Men for whom you bathed and painted your eyes, and you adorned yourself with an ornament.

² And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.

⁹ Likewise also the women should adorn themselves in appropriate clothing, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold jewelry or pearls or expensive clothing, ¹⁰ but with good deeds which are fitting for women who profess godliness.

³ Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderous, not enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, ⁴ in order that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, ⁵ to be self-controlled, pure, busy at home, good, being subject to their own husbands, in order that the word of God may not be slandered. ⁶ Likewise, exhort the young men to be self-controlled, ⁷ concerning everything showing yourself to be an example of good deeds, in your teaching demonstrating soundness, dignity, ⁸ a sound message beyond reproach, in order that _⌊an opponent_⌋* may be put to shame, because he* has nothing bad to say concerning us. ⁹ Slaves must be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not to talk back, ¹⁰ not stealing, but demonstrating all good faith, in order that they may do credit to the teaching of God our Savior in everything. ¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² training us in order that, denying impiety and worldly desires, we may live self-controlled and righteously and godly in the present age, ¹³ looking forward to the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, ¹⁴ who gave himself for us, in order that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds. ¹⁵ Speak these things and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

⁷ But Yahweh said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For God does not see what man sees, for a man _⌊looks on the outward appearance_⌋,* but Yahweh _⌊looks on the heart_⌋."*

⁹ He causes the humble to walk in justice, and teaches the humble his way.

¹³ The king's daughter is all glorious within;* her garment is of gold embroidered cloth.

⁶ Behold, you delight in truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden parts you make me to know wisdom.

² Rather I have soothed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother, like the weaned child is my soul with me.

⁶ Yahweh helps the afflicted up; he brings the wicked down to the ground.

¹⁰ He does not delight in the strength of the horse; he takes no pleasure in the legs of the man. ¹¹ Yahweh takes pleasure in those who fear him, the ones who hope* for his loyal love.

⁴ For Yahweh takes pleasure in his people; he glorifies the afflicted with salvation.

⁴ But he shall judge the poor with righteousness, and he shall decide for the needy of the earth with rectitude. And he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and he shall kill the wicked person with the breath of his lips.

¹⁹ And the meek _⌊have joy after joy_⌋* in Yahweh, and the needy of the people shall rejoice in the holy one of Israel.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy:
"I reside in a high and holy place, and with the _⌊contrite_⌋* and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the _⌊contrite_⌋.*

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me, he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up _⌊the brokenhearted_⌋,* to _⌊proclaim_⌋* release to the captives and liberation to those who are bound,

⁵⁹ The word that Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah, the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, at his going with Zedekiah, the king of Judah, to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Now Seraiah was the _⌊quartermaster_⌋.*

⁵ Blessed are the meek, because they will inherit the earth.

²⁹ Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

⁵ "Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your king is coming to you, humble and mounted on a donkey, and* on a colt, the foal of a pack animal.'"*

²⁶ Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the dish,* so that the outside of it may become clean also.

⁴⁰ Fools! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also?

¹⁵ And he said to them, "You are the ones who justify themselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts! For what is considered exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

²⁹ But the Jew _⌊is one inwardly_⌋*, and circumcision is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter, whose praise is not from people but from God.

⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified together with him, in order that the body of sin may be done away with, that we may no longer be enslaved to sin.

²² For I joyfully agree with the law of God in my inner person,

¹⁶ Therefore we do not lose heart, but even if our outer person is being destroyed, yet our inner person is being renewed day after day.

¹ Now I, Paul, appeal to you myself by the humility and gentleness of Christ, who _⌊when I am present in person_⌋* am humble among you, but when I* am absent am bold toward you—

²³ gentleness, self control. Against such things there is no law.

² with all humility and gentleness, with patience, putting up with one another in love,

²² that you take off, according to your former way of life, the old man, who is being destroyed according to deceitful desires, ²³ be renewed in the spirit of your mind, ²⁴ and put on the new man (in accordance with God), who is created in righteousness and holiness from the truth.

³ For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

⁹ Do not lie to one another, because you* have taken off the old man together with his deeds, ¹⁰ and have put on the new man that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created him,

¹² Therefore, as the chosen of God, holy and dearly loved, put on affection, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience,

¹¹ and to aspire to live a quiet life, and to attend to _⌊your own business_⌋,* and to work with your hands,* just as we commanded you,

¹² Now we command and we exhort such people in the Lord Jesus Christ that, working with quietness, they eat their own bread.

² on behalf of kings and all those who are in authority, in order that we may live a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

²⁵ correcting those who are opposed with gentleness, seeing whether perhaps God may grant them repentance to a knowledge of the truth,

² to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all courtesy to all people.

²¹ Therefore, putting aside all moral uncleanness and wicked excess, welcome* with humility the implanted message which is able to save your souls.

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his* good behavior his works, with the humility of wisdom. ¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth. ¹⁵ This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice. ¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, obedient, full of mercy and good fruits, nonjudgmental, without hypocrisy,

²³ because you* have been born again, not from perishable seed but imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

¹⁵ but set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for an accounting concerning the hope that is in you.

¹ Then Hannah prayed and said,
"My heart exults in Yahweh, my strength is exalted in Yahweh; _⌊I grin_⌋* over my enemies, for I rejoice over your salvation.

¹⁰ A woman* of excellence,* who will find? For her worth is far more than precious jewels.

³⁰ Charm* is deceit and beauty* is vain;* but a woman who fears Yahweh shall be praised.

¹¹ Leave your orphans. I will let them* live. And your widows, let them trust in me."

³⁷ and herself as a widow up to eighty-four years)* who did not depart from the temple with fastings and prayers, serving night and day.

² and some women who had been healed of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (who was called Magdalene), from whom seven demons had gone out, ³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza (Herod's household manager), and Susanna, and many others who were helping to support them from their possessions.

¹⁴ All these were busily engaged with one mind in prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with* his brothers.

³⁶ Now in Joppa there was a certain female disciple _⌊named_⌋* Tabitha (which translated means "Dorcas").* She was full of good deeds and charitable giving which she was constantly doing.*

¹⁰ but with good deeds which are fitting for women who profess godliness.

¹⁵ But she will be saved through the bearing of children, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control.

⁵ But the widow who is one truly, and is left alone, has put her hope in God and continues in her petitions and prayers night and day.

¹⁰ being well-attested by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality, if she has washed the feet of the saints, if she has helped those who are oppressed, if she has devoted herself to every good work.

¹¹ By faith also, _⌊with Sarah_⌋*,* he received _⌊the ability to procreate_⌋* even _⌊past the normal age_⌋*, because he regarded the one who had promised to be faithful.

¹¹ And of whom were you afraid and feared, that you deceived and did not remember me? Did you not place it on your heart? Have I not been silent, even from long ago, and so you do not fear me?

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego answered and said to the king, Nebuchadnezzar, "We have no need on this matter _⌊to present a defense to you_⌋.* ¹⁷ _⌊If it is so_⌋,* our God, whom we serve, is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire. And from your hand, O king, let him rescue us. ¹⁸ And if not, let it be known to you, O king, that _⌊we will not serve your gods_⌋,* and the statue of gold* that you have set up we will not worship."

⁶⁹ Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a female slave came up to him and* said, "You also were with Jesus the Galilean." ⁷⁰ But he denied it* in the presence of them all, saying, "I do not know what you mean!" ⁷¹ And when he* went out to the gateway, another female slave* saw him and said to those who were there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene." ⁷² And again he denied it* with an oath, "I do not know the man!" ⁷³ And after a little while those who were standing there came up and* said to Peter, "You really are one of them also, because even your accent _⌊reveals who you are_⌋."* ⁷⁴ Then he began to curse and to swear with an oath, "I do not know the man!" And immediately a rooster crowed. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the statement Jesus had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times," and he went outside and* wept bitterly.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders, ⁹ if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a sick man—by what means* this man was healed— ¹⁰ let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man stands before you healthy! ¹¹ This one* is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, that has become _⌊the cornerstone_⌋.* ¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved." ¹³ Now when they* saw the boldness of Peter and John, and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were astonished, and recognized them, that they had been with Jesus.

¹⁹ But Peter and John answered and* said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, you decide!

⁷ nor are they all children because they are descendants of Abraham, but "In Isaac will your descendants be named."* ⁸ That is, it is not the children _⌊by human descent_⌋* who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as descendants. ⁹ For the statement of the promise is this: "At this time I will return and _⌊Sarah will have_⌋* a son."*

²² For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the female slave and one by the free woman. ²³ But the one by the female slave was born according to human descent, and the one by the free woman through the promise, ²⁴ which things are spoken allegorically, for these women are two covenants, one from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery, who is Hagar. ²⁵ Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is a slave with her children. ²⁶ But the Jerusalem above is free, which is our mother.

¹⁴ But even if you might suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their intimidation or be disturbed,* ¹⁵ but set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for an accounting concerning the hope that is in you.

²³ And the man* said,
"_⌊She is now_⌋* bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh; _⌊she_⌋* shall be called 'Woman,' for _⌊she was taken_⌋* from man." ²⁴ Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cling to his wife, and they shall be as one flesh.

⁸ _⌊So then_⌋,* take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will pray for you,* for _⌊I will certainly accept his prayer_⌋,* so that it will not be done with you* according to your folly, for you* have not spoken to me what is right as my servant Job has."

¹⁵ Drink water from your own cistern and flowing waters from inside your own well. ¹⁶ Shall your springs be scattered outward? In the streets, shall there be streams of water? ¹⁷ May they be yours alone, and not for strangers who are with you. ¹⁸ May your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife* of your youth. ¹⁹ She is a deer of love and a doe of grace; may her breasts satisfy you _⌊always_⌋;* by her love may you be intoxicated continually.

¹⁴ But you ask, "_⌊For what reason_⌋?"* Because Yahweh stands as a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have been unfaithful, even though she is your marriage partner and _⌊your wife by covenant_⌋.* ¹⁵ _⌊Did not one God make them?_⌋* But a remnant of the spirit is his.* And what does the one God desire? An offspring of God.* _⌊You must be attentive to_⌋* your spirit, and you must not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. ¹⁶ "For I hate divorce,"* says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and he who covers his clothing with violence," says Yahweh of hosts. "_⌊You must be attentive to_⌋* your spirit and you must not be unfaithful."

²³ Therefore if you present your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, ²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar and first go be reconciled to your brother, and then come and* present your gift.

¹⁹ Again, truly I say to you that if two of you agree on earth about any matter that they ask, it will be done for them from my Father who is in heaven.

³ And Pharisees came up to him in order to* test him, and asked* if it was permitted for a man to divorce his wife for any cause. ⁴ And he answered and* said, "Have you not read that the one who created them* from the beginning made them male and female ⁵ and said, 'On account of this a man will leave his* father and his* mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?* ⁶ So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate." ⁷ They said to him, "Why then did Moses command us* to give a document—a certificate of divorce—and to divorce her?" ⁸ He said to them, "Moses, with reference to your hardness of heart, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not like this. ⁹ Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on the basis of sexual immorality, and marries another commits adultery, and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery."*

²⁶ And likewise also, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as one ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unexpressed groanings. ²⁷ And the one who searches our hearts knows what the mindset of the Spirit is, because he intercedes on behalf of the saints according to the will of God.

³ The husband must fulfill his obligation to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

²² But by much more the members of the body which are thought to be weaker are necessary, ²³ and the parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, these we clothe with more abundant honor, and our unpresentable parts come to have more abundant presentability, ²⁴ but our presentable parts do not have need of this. Yet God composed the body by giving more abundant honor to the part which lacked it,

⁶ that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, and fellow members of the body, and fellow sharers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,

³⁰ and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for her; ²⁶ in order that he might sanctify her by cleansing her* with the washing of water by the word; ²⁷ in order that he might present to himself the church glorious, not having a spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she may be holy and blameless. ²⁸ Thus also husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. The one who loves his own wife loves himself.

¹⁸ with all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and to this end being alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,

¹⁹ Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.

⁴ that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

⁷ so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁴ Are they not all spirits engaged in special service, sent on assignment for the sake of those who are going to inherit salvation?

¹³ As a father pities* his children, so Yahweh pities* those who fear him.

⁸ He who augments his wealth with interest and with usury gathers it for him who is kind to the poor.

⁹ "Thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'Judge with trustworthy justice, and show* steadfast love and compassion _⌊to one another_⌋.*

³³ Should you not also have shown mercy to your fellow slave as I also showed mercy to you?'

³³ But a certain Samaritan who was traveling came up to him and, when he* saw him,* had compassion.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in the same place.

³² Now the group of those who believed were one heart and soul, and no one said anything of what belonged to him was his own, but all things were theirs in common.

³ And on the next day, we put in at Sidon. And Julius, treating Paul kindly, allowed him* to go to his* friends _⌊to be cared for_⌋.*

⁷ Now in the regions around that place were fields belonging to the chief official of the island, _⌊named_⌋* Publius, who welcomed us and* entertained us* hospitably for three days.

¹⁰ being devoted to one another in brotherly love, esteeming one another more highly in honor,

¹⁵ Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. ¹⁶ Think the same thing toward one another; _⌊do not think arrogantly_⌋*, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise _⌊in your own sight_⌋*.

⁵ Now may the God of patient endurance and of encouragement grant you _⌊to be in agreement_⌋* with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus,

¹⁰ Now I exhort you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all say the same thing and there not be divisions among you, and that you be made complete in the same mind and with the same purpose.

²⁶ And if one member suffers, all the members suffer together; if a member* is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

³¹ All bitterness, and rage, and wrath, and clamor, and abusive speech, must be removed from you, together with all wickedness.

¹⁶ Only to what we have attained, to the same hold on.

⁸ Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are pleasing, whatever things are commendable, if there is any excellence of character and if anything praiseworthy, think about these things. ⁹ And the things which you have learned and received and heard about and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

¹ Brotherly love must continue.

¹³ For judgment is merciless to the one who has not practiced mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, obedient, full of mercy and good fruits, nonjudgmental, without hypocrisy,

¹¹ Behold, we consider blessed those who have endured. You have heard about the patient endurance of Job, and you saw the outcome from the Lord, that the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

¹⁷ Honor all people, love the community of believers, fear God, honor the king.*

⁵ In the same way, younger men, be subject to the elders, and all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

⁷ and with godliness, brotherly love, and with brotherly love, love.

¹⁴ We know that we have passed over from death to life because we love the brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.

¹⁸ Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. ¹⁹ By this* we know that we are of the truth and will convince our heart before him,

¹³ For he who returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house.

²² Do not say "I will repay evil"; wait for Yahweh and he will deliver you.

³⁹ But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer, but whoever strikes you on the right cheek,* turn the other to him also.

⁴⁴ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife* or children or fields on account of my name will receive a hundred times as much, and will inherit eternal life.

³⁴ Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world!

¹⁷ And as* he was setting out on his way, one individual ran up and knelt down before him and* asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do so that I will inherit eternal life?"

²⁷ "But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, ²⁸ bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. ²⁹ To the one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from the one who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic also.

²⁵ And behold, a certain legal expert stood up to test him, saying, "Teacher, what must I do so that I will inherit eternal life?"

¹⁸ And a certain ruler asked him, saying, "Good Teacher, by* doing what will I inherit eternal life?"

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose,

³⁰ And those whom he predestined, these he also called, and those whom he called, these he also justified, and those whom he justified, these he also glorified.

¹⁴ Bless those who persecute,* bless and do not curse them.

¹⁷ Pay back no one evil for evil. Take thought for what is good in the sight of all people.

¹⁹ Do not take revenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay,"* says the Lord. ²⁰ But "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by* doing this, you will heap up coals of fire upon his head."* ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹² and we toil, working with our own hands. When we are* reviled, we bless; when we are* persecuted, we endure; ¹³ when we are* slandered, we encourage. We have become like the refuse of the world, the offscouring of all things, until now.

³² Become* kind toward one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as also God in Christ has forgiven you.

¹⁵ See to it that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue good toward* one another and toward all people.

¹⁴ saying,
"Surely _⌊I will greatly bless_⌋* you, and _⌊I will greatly multiply_⌋* you."

²⁰ For what credit is it if, when you* sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if you endure when you* do good and suffer for it, this finds favor with God. ²¹ For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his footsteps, ²² who did not commit sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth,* ²³ who when he* was reviled, did not revile in return; when* suffering, he did not threaten, but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly,

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ,* after you* have suffered for a short time, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

⁴⁷ for it is not a trifling matter among you, but it is your life, and through this word _⌊you will live long in the land_⌋* that you are about to cross the Jordan to get there to take possession of it."

⁴ Then* Satan* answered him and said, "Skin for skin! All that _⌊that_⌋* man has he will give for his life.

⁷ Remember that my life is a breath; my eye will not return to see good. ⁸ The eye of the one seeing me will not see me; your eyes are upon me, but* _⌊I will be gone_⌋.*

²⁵ "And my days are swifter than a runner; they flee away; they do not see good.

²⁸ He redeemed my life from going down into the pit, so* _⌊I will enjoy the light_⌋.'*

¹³ Surely* I believe that I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living.

¹² Who is the man who desires life, who loves many days in order to see good? ¹³ Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. ¹⁴ Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. ¹⁵ The eyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous, and his ears toward their cry for help. ¹⁶ The face of Yahweh is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

¹⁹ it* will go to the generation of his fathers. Never will they see light.

⁵ that I may see the good done your chosen ones, to be glad in the joy of your nation, to glory together with your inheritance.

² For length of days, years of life, and peace they* shall add to you.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life for those who seize her; those who take hold of her are considered happy.

²² For they are life to those who find them and healing _⌊to the entire body_⌋.*

³⁵ For he who finds me is he who finds* life, and he obtains favor from Yahweh.

³ I also _⌊explored_⌋* _⌊the effects of indulging my flesh_⌋* with wine. My mind guiding me with wisdom, _⌊I investigated_⌋* folly so that I might discover what is good under heaven* for _⌊humans_⌋* to do _⌊during the days of their lives_⌋.*

¹⁶ But your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear. ¹⁷ For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it,* and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it!*

¹⁷ And he said to him, "Why are you asking me about what is good? There is one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments!"

³⁵ For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of me and of the gospel will save it.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said about him, "Look! _⌊A true Israelite_⌋* in whom is no deceit!"

²⁵ The one who loves his life loses it, and the one who hates his life in this world preserves it for eternal life.

²⁶ If anyone thinks he is religious, although he* does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

¹ Not many should become teachers, my brothers, because you* know that we will receive a greater judgment.* ² For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect individual,* able to hold in check his whole body also. ³ And if we put bits in the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we also guide their whole bodies. ⁴ Behold also ships: although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot wishes. ⁵ So also the tongue is a small member of the body* and boasts great things. Behold how small a fire sets ablaze how great a forest! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire! The world of unrighteousness,* the tongue, is set among our members, defiling the whole body and setting on fire _⌊the course of human existence_⌋*, being set on fire by hell. ⁷ For every species of animals and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, is being tamed and has been tamed by the human species, ⁸ but no human being is able to tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. ⁹ With it we bless the* Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. ¹⁰ From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so!

¹ Therefore, ridding yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,

²² who did not commit sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth,*

⁵ and in their mouth a lie was not found; they are blameless.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz whose* name was Job. That* man was blameless and upright and God-fearing and turning away from evil.

³ So* Yahweh _⌊asked_⌋* Satan,* "Have you _⌊considered_⌋* my servant Job? Indeed,* there is no one like him on the earth—a blameless man and upright and God-fearing and turning away from evil. And still he persists in his blamelessness _⌊even though_⌋* you incited me against him to destroy him for nothing."

²⁸ And to the human beings he said, 'Look, the fear of the Lord is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.'"

¹⁴ Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it.

²⁷ Turn aside from evil and do good and so abide forever.

⁶ Too long my soul has had its dwelling near one who hates peace. ⁷ I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.

⁴ Do good, O Yahweh, to the good, and to those upright in their hearts.

⁷ Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Yahweh and retreat from evil.

⁶ By loyalty and faithfulness, iniquity will be covered over,* and by fear of Yahweh _⌊one turns_⌋* from evil.

¹⁷ The highway of the upright, it turns from evil, he who guards himself* keeps his way.

¹⁶ Wash! Make yourselves clean! Remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes! Cease to do evil! ¹⁷ Learn to do good! Seek justice! Rescue the oppressed! Defend the orphan! Plead for the widow!

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.

⁴⁵ in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven, because he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust.

¹³ And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.*

⁷ For the poor you always have with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want, but you do not always have me.

⁷⁹ to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace."

⁹ And Jesus said to them, "I ask you whether it is permitted on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?"*

³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend expecting back nothing, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

¹⁵ I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.

¹ Therefore, because we* have been declared righteous by faith, we have* peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁹ For the good that I want to do, I do not do, but the evil that I do not want to do, this I do.

²¹ Consequently, I find the principle with me, the one who wants to do good, that evil is present with me.*

⁶ For the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace,

¹⁸ If it is possible on your part, be at peace with all people.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ So then, let us pursue _⌊what promotes peace_⌋* and _⌊what edifies one another_⌋*.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

¹⁰ So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the household of faith.

¹⁵ And the peace of Christ must rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.

¹⁸ to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, sharing freely,

¹⁴ Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.

¹⁶ And do not neglect doing good and generosity, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, obedient, full of mercy and good fruits, nonjudgmental, without hypocrisy, ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace among* those who make peace.

¹⁷ Therefore, to the one who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

¹¹ Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

¹⁰ And if there is _⌊anyone_⌋* from the house of Israel or* from the alien who is dwelling in their midst who eats any blood, then* I will set my face against the person who eats the blood, and I will cut him off from among his people.

³ And I myself will set my face against that man, and I will cut him off from the midst of his people, because he has given _⌊some of_⌋* his offspring to Molech, so that _⌊he makes my sanctuary unclean_⌋* and profanes* _⌊my holy name_⌋.*

⁶ As for* the person who turns to the mediums and the soothsayers to prostitute after them, I will set* my face against that person, and I will cut him off from the midst of his people.

¹⁷ And I will set my face against you, and you shall be defeated _⌊before_⌋* your enemies; and your haters shall rule over you, and you shall flee away, but* there shall not be _⌊anybody who is pursuing_⌋* you.

¹² a land that Yahweh your God is caring for it; continually the eyes of Yahweh your God are on it, from the beginning of the year up to the end of the year.

¹⁵ Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer of this place.

⁹ For the eyes of Yahweh roam throughout all the earth to strengthen those whose heart is fully devoted to him. You have been foolish in this, for from now on you will have wars."

⁴ Yahweh is in his holy temple; Yahweh is in the heavens on his throne. His eyelids see; they test the children of humankind.

² O you who hear prayer, to you all flesh will come.

¹⁶ It is burned with fire, cut down. They perish at the rebuke of your face.

³ In every place, the eyes of Yahweh keep watch over the evil and the good.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination of Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

²⁹ Yahweh is far from the wicked, but the prayers of the righteous he will hear.

¹⁰ For I have set my face against this city for evil and not for good," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire." '

⁷ And I will set my face against them. From the fire they may_⌊escape_⌋,* but the fire will yet consume them, and they will know that I am Yahweh _⌊when I set my face against them_⌋.*

¹⁰ For whoever has despised the day of small things will rejoice and will see the _⌊plumb line_⌋* in the hand of Zerubbabel."
These seven are the eyes of Yahweh which are ranging _⌊throughout the whole earth_⌋.*

³¹ We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if someone is devout and does his will, he listens to this one.

¹⁶ Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much.

²⁰ And those who repay evil in return for good accuse me in return for my pursuing good.

⁹ An abomination of Yahweh is the way of the wicked, but he who pursues righteousness he will love.

⁷ When the ways of a man are pleasing to Yahweh, even his enemies he will cause to make peace with him.

³ For rulers are not a cause of terror for a good deed, but for bad conduct. So do you want not to be afraid of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from it,

¹ Pursue love, and strive for spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

¹ Therefore become imitators of God, as beloved children,

¹² "You must not call conspiracy everything that this people calls conspiracy, and you must not _⌊share its fear_⌋,* and you must not be in dread. ¹³ You shall regard Yahweh of hosts as holy, and he is your* fear, and he is your dread.

¹⁰ You must not fear, for I am with you; you must not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, indeed I will help you, indeed I will take hold of you with the right hand of my salvation. ¹¹ Look! All those who are angry with you shall be ashamed and humiliated; _⌊your opponents_⌋* shall be like nothing and shall become lost. ¹² You shall seek them, but* you shall not find them; _⌊your opponents_⌋* shall be like nothing, and the men of your war like nothing. ¹³ For I, Yahweh your God, am grasping your right hand; _⌊it is I who say_⌋* to you, "You must not fear; I myself, I will help you. ¹⁴ You must not fear, O worm of Jacob; people of Israel, I myself, I will help you," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "and your redeemer is the holy one of Israel.

¹² "I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that* you are afraid of man? He dies! And of the son of humankind? He is _⌊sacrificed_⌋* as grass!

⁸ _⌊Do not be afraid of them_⌋,* for I am with you to deliver you," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁵ You who know, O Yahweh, remember me, and attend to me, and take revenge for me against my persecutors _⌊in your forbearance_⌋.* You must take me away. Know that I am carrying disgrace because of you.

⁹ Like a diamond _⌊harder than flint_⌋* I have made your forehead; you must not fear them, and you must not be dismayed _⌊on account of them_⌋,* for they _⌊are a rebellious house_⌋.*

¹⁰ Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you, lying on account of me. ¹² Rejoice and be glad, because your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.

¹⁸ And you will be brought before both governors and kings because of me, for a witness to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But whenever they hand you over, do not be anxious how to speak* or what you should say, for what you should say will be given to you at that hour. ²⁰ For you are not the ones who are speaking, but the Spirit of your Father who is speaking through you. ²¹ "And brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his children, and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death, ²² and you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end—this one will be saved.

²⁸ And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul, but instead be afraid of the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

³¹ Therefore do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

³⁹ The one who finds his life will lose it, and the one who loses his life because of me will find it.

²⁵ For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of me will find it.

²⁹ Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields on account of me and on account of the gospel

²² Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. ²³ Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For their fathers used to do the same things to the prophets.

⁴ "And I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after these things do not have anything more to do. ⁵ But I will show you whom you should fear: fear the one who has authority, after the killing, to throw you* into hell! Yes, I tell you, fear this one!

¹ "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe* in God; believe* also in me.

²⁷ "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you—not as the world gives, I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them* be afraid.

¹⁶ For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name."

⁹ And the Lord said to Paul by a vision in the night, "Do not be afraid, but speak and do not keep silent, ¹⁰ because I am with you and no one will attack you to harm you, because many people are mine in this city."

¹⁰ Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in calamities, in persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

²⁹ because to you has been graciously granted on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on behalf of him,

¹² Blessed is the person* who endures testing, because when he* is approved he will receive the crown of life that he* has promised to those who love him.

¹⁹ For this finds favor, if because of consciousness of God someone endures sorrows while* suffering unjustly. ²⁰ For what credit is it if, when you* sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if you endure when you* do good and suffer for it, this finds favor with God.

⁶ like Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you have become when you* do good and are not frightened with respect to any terror.

¹³ But to the degree that you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that also at the revelation of his glory you may rejoice and be glad. ¹⁴ If you are reviled on account of the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. ¹⁵ By all means do not let anyone of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. ¹⁶ But if someone suffers as a Christian, he must not be ashamed, but must glorify God with this name.

¹² But Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not trusted in me, to regard me as holy _⌊in the sight of_⌋* the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* you will not bring this assembly into the land that I have given to them."

¹⁴ because you rebelled against my word in the desert of Zin when the community quarreled regarding my holiness at the waters." (These are the waters of Meribah-Kadesh in the desert of Zin.)

⁷ So then take your stand, so that I may judge you before Yahweh with regard to all the deeds of justice* of Yahweh that he performed with both you and your ancestors.*

⁴⁶ And I will speak of your testimonies before kings, and will not be ashamed.

¹⁸ "Come now, and let us argue," says Yahweh. "Even though your sins are like scarlet, they will be white like snow; even though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

¹⁶ But Yahweh of hosts is exalted by justice, and the holy God shows himself holy by righteousness.

²³ For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will treat my name as holy, and they will treat the holy one of Jacob as holy, and they will stand in awe of the God of Israel.

²¹ "Present your legal case," says Yahweh. "Bring your evidence," says the king of Jacob.

¹² Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and to all the people, _⌊saying_⌋,* "Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard. ¹³ Now _⌊therefore_⌋* amend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of Yahweh your God, and Yahweh will relent of the disaster that he has spoken over you. ¹⁴ But as for me, look, I am in your hand, do to me what is good and right in your eyes. ¹⁵ Only you must certainly know that if you put me to death, you will bring on yourselves innocent blood, and on this city and on its inhabitants, for _⌊truly_⌋* Yahweh sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears." ¹⁶ Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets, "_⌊This man does not deserve_⌋* a sentence of death, for in the name of Yahweh our God, he has spoken to us."

¹⁴ And Amos answered and said to Amaziah, "I am not a prophet and I am not a son of a prophet, but I am a herdsman and I am one taking care of sycamore trees. ¹⁵ And Yahweh took me from following behind the sheep and goats and Yahweh said to me, "Go, prophesy to my people Israel! ¹⁶ And so then, hear the word of Yahweh! You are saying, 'You must not prophesy against Israel and you must not preach against the house of Isaac!' ¹⁷ Therefore, thus says Yahweh, 'Your wife will become a prostitute in the city and your sons and your daughters will fall by the sword and your land will be divided with a line, and you* will die in an unclean land and Israel will surely go into exile from this land.'"

¹⁸ And you will be brought before both governors and kings because of me, for a witness to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But whenever they hand you over, do not be anxious how to speak* or what you should say, for what you should say will be given to you at that hour. ²⁰ For you are not the ones who are speaking, but the Spirit of your Father who is speaking through you.

¹⁴ _⌊Therefore make up your minds_⌋* not to prepare in advance to speak in your own defense, ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom that all your opponents will not be able to resist or contradict.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders, ⁹ if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a sick man—by what means* this man was healed— ¹⁰ let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man stands before you healthy! ¹¹ This one* is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, that has become _⌊the cornerstone_⌋.* ¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved."

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered and* said, "It is necessary to obey God rather than men! ³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed by* hanging him* on a tree. ³¹ This one God has exalted to his right hand as Leader and Savior to grant repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

³⁹ But Paul said, "I am a Jewish man from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no unimportant city. Now I ask you, allow me to speak to the people."

²⁵ And while* he was discussing about righteousness and self control and the judgment that is to come, Felix became afraid and* replied, "Go away for the present, and when I* have an opportunity, I will summon you."

⁵ because of the hope reserved for you in heaven, which you have heard about beforehand in the word of truth, the gospel,

²³ if indeed you remain in the faith, established and steadfast and not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

²⁷ to whom God wanted to make known what is the glorious wealth of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

⁶ Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how it is necessary for you to answer each one.

²⁵ correcting those who are opposed with gentleness, seeing whether perhaps God may grant them repentance to a knowledge of the truth, ²⁶ and they will come to their senses again and escape from the trap of the devil, being held captive by him to do his will.

² in the hope of eternal life which God, who does not lie, promised before eternal ages,

⁶ but Christ was faithful* as a son over his house, whose house we are, if* we hold fast to our confidence and the hope we can be proud of.

¹ Therefore, leaving behind the elementary message about Christ, let us move on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and faith in God,

¹⁸ in order that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge may have powerful encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us, ¹⁹ which we have like an anchor of the soul, both firm and steadfast, and entering into the inside of the curtain,

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ into an inheritance imperishable and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you

¹⁷ And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's work, conduct yourselves with fear during the time of your temporary residence,

² when they* see your respectful, pure conduct.

⁴ but the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is highly valuable in the sight of God.

¹¹ Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you, lying on account of me.

¹⁶ _⌊For this reason_⌋* also I myself _⌊always_⌋* do my best to have a clear conscience toward God and people.

¹ I am telling the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears witness to me in the Holy Spirit—

¹² For our reason for boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, in holiness* and purity of motive from God, not* in merely human wisdom, but by the grace of God.

² but we have renounced shameful hidden things, not behaving with craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but with the open proclamation of the truth commending ourselves to every person's conscience before God.

⁵ But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a faith without hypocrisy,

¹⁹ having faith and a good conscience, which some, because they* have rejected these, have suffered shipwreck concerning their faith,

³ _⌊I am thankful_⌋* to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience _⌊as my ancestors did_⌋*, when _⌊I remember you constantly_⌋* in my prayers night and day,

⁸ a sound message beyond reproach, in order that _⌊an opponent_⌋* may be put to shame, because he* has nothing bad to say concerning us.

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve the living God?

¹⁸ Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience, and want to conduct ourselves commendably in every way.

¹⁵ For the will of God is as follows: by* doing good to silence the ignorance of foolish people.

¹⁹ For this finds favor, if because of consciousness of God someone endures sorrows while* suffering unjustly.

¹ In the same way, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some are disobedient to the word, they may be won over without a word by the conduct of their wives, ² when they* see your respectful, pure conduct.

²¹ And* also, corresponding to this, baptism now saves you, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

³⁹ And going forward a little he fell down on his face, praying and saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."*

⁴² Again for the second time he went away and* prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will must be done."

¹⁴ And because* he would not be persuaded, we remained silent, saying, "The will of the Lord be done."

²⁰ For what credit is it if, when you* sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if you endure when you* do good and suffer for it, this finds favor with God.

¹⁴ But even if you might suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their intimidation or be disturbed,*

¹⁵ By all means do not let anyone of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler.

¹⁹ So then also those who suffer according to the will of God must entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing good.

⁴ However, he was the one who lifted up our sicknesses, and he carried our pain, yet* we ourselves assumed him stricken, struck down by God and afflicted. ⁵ But* he was pierced* because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement for* our peace* was upon him, and by his wounds* _⌊we were healed_⌋.* ⁶ All of us have wandered about like sheep; we each have turned to his own way; and Yahweh let fall on him the iniquity of us all.

²⁶ "And after the sixty and two weeks an anointed one* shall be cut off, and _⌊he shall have nothing_⌋,* and the people of the coming leader will destroy the city and the sanctuary,* and its end will be with the flood and on to the end there shall be war; these desolations are determined.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king comes to you; he is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a male donkey, _⌊the foal of_⌋* a female donkey!

¹⁹ And while* he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a message* to him, saying, "_⌊Have nothing to do with that righteous man_⌋,* for I have suffered much as a result of a dream today because of him.")

²⁴ So Pilate, when he* saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but instead an uproar was developing, took water and* washed his* hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this man. You see to it!"*

¹⁴ But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and demanded that a man—a murderer—be granted to you.

¹⁴ And he said, 'The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One and to hear a voice from his mouth,

⁴ who was declared Son of God in power according to _⌊the Holy Spirit_⌋* by the resurrection from the dead of Jesus Christ our Lord,

²⁵ who was handed over on account of our trespasses, and was raised up in the interest of our justification.*

² through whom also we have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

⁶ For while* we were still helpless, yet at the proper time Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ For only rarely will someone die on behalf of a righteous person (for on behalf of a good person possibly someone might even dare to die), ⁸ but God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while* we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

³ For what was impossible for the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did. By* sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

¹¹ And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus* from the dead will also make alive your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.

²⁴ Not that we lord it over your faith, but we are fellow workers for your joy, because by faith you stand firm.

²¹ He made the one who did not know sin to be sin on our behalf, in order that we could become the righteousness of God in him.

⁴ For indeed, he was crucified because of weakness, but he lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we will live together with him because of the power of God toward you.

⁴ who gave himself for our sins in order to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by* becoming a curse for us, because it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"*

¹⁶ and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, killing the enmity in himself.* ¹⁷ And coming, he proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to the ones who were near, ¹⁸ because through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

²¹ And _⌊although you were formerly alienated_⌋** and enemies in attitude, because of your evil deeds, ²² but now you have been reconciled* by _⌊his physical body_⌋* through death, to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, in order that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds.

²⁶ since it would have been necessary for him to suffer many times from the foundation of the world, but now he has appeared once at the end of the ages for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of himself.

²⁸ thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

⁶ You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous person; he does not resist you.

²¹ For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his footsteps, ²² who did not commit sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth,* ²³ who when he* was reviled, did not revile in return; when* suffering, he did not threaten, but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly, ²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we may die to sins and live to righteousness, by whose wounds you were healed.

¹ Therefore, because* Christ suffered in the flesh, you also equip yourselves with the same way of thinking, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

⁶ Because for this reason also the gospel was preached to those who are dead, so that they were judged _⌊by human standards_⌋* in the flesh, but they may live in the spirit _⌊by God's standards_⌋*.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our* sins and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

³⁰ You were patient toward them for many years, and you have warned them by your spirit through the hand of your prophets, but they did not listen. So you gave them into the hand of the nations of the lands.

⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoner out from the dungeon, those who sit in darkness from the house of imprisonment.

⁹ saying to the _⌊prisoners_⌋,* "Come out!" to those who are in darkness, "Show yourselves!" they shall feed _⌊along_⌋* the ways, and their pasturage shall be on all the barren heights.

¹¹ investigating for what person or which time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he* testified beforehand to the sufferings with reference to Christ and the glories after these things, ¹² to whom it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you with reference to the same things which now have been announced to you through those who proclaimed the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, _⌊things into which_⌋* angels desire to look.

¹⁰ And I fell down before his feet to worship him, and he said to me, "_⌊Do not do that!_⌋* I am a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

⁷ And when the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison

³ And Yahweh said, "My Spirit shall not abide with humankind forever in that he is also flesh. And his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."

⁵ And Yahweh saw that the evil of humankind was great upon the earth, and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was always* only evil.

¹³ And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before me, for the earth was filled with violence because of them. Now, look, I am going to destroy them along with the earth.

¹³ On this same day, Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and the wife of Noah and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark,

¹⁷ And the flood came forty days and forty nights upon the earth. And the waters increased, and lifted the ark, and it rose up from the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth. And the ark went upon the surface* of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed _⌊overwhelmingly_⌋* upon the earth, and they covered all the high mountains which were under the entire heaven.* ²⁰ _⌊The waters swelled fifteen cubits above the mountains, covering them_⌋.* ²¹ And every living thing that moved on the earth perished—the birds, and the domesticated animals, and the wild animals, and everything that swarmed on the earth, and all humankind. ²² Everything in whose nostrils was _⌊the breath of life_⌋,* among all that was on dry land, died. ²³ And he* blotted out every living thing upon the surface of the ground, from humankind, to animals, to creeping things, and to the birds of heaven;* they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained.

¹ And God remembered Noah and all the wild animals, and all the domesticated animals that were with him in the ark. And God caused a wind to blow* over the earth, and the waters subsided.

¹⁸ So* Noah went out, with* his sons and his wife, and the wives of his sons with him.

¹⁸ Therefore Yahweh waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he will rise up to show you mercy, for Yahweh is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

¹⁴ because narrow* is the gate and constricted is the road that leads to life, and there are few who find it!

³⁷ For just as the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. ³⁸ For as in the days* before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark. ³⁹ And they did not know anything* until the deluge came and swept them* all away. So also the coming of the Son of Man will be.

³² "Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom.

²⁴ "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able to, ²⁵ when once the master of the house has gotten up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open the door* for us!' And he will answer and* say to you, 'I do not know where you are from!'

²⁶ And just as it was in the days of Noah, so also it will be in the days of the Son of Man— ²⁷ they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building. ²⁹ But on the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ It will be _⌊just the same_⌋* on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

⁴ Or do you despise the wealth of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? ⁵ But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

²² And what if God, wanting to demonstrate his wrath and to make known his power, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?

¹⁵ For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, ¹⁶ to those on the one hand an odor from death to death, and to those on the other hand a fragrance from life to life. And who is qualified for these things?

²⁶ in order that he might sanctify her by cleansing her* with the washing of water by the word;

⁷ By faith Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen, out of reverence constructed an ark for the deliverance of his family, by which he pronounced sentence on the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

⁵ and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a proclaimer of righteousness, _⌊and seven others_⌋* when he* brought a flood on the world of the ungodly,

¹⁵ And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as also our dear brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom that was given to him,

²⁵ And I will sprinkle on you pure water, and you will be clean from all of your uncleanness, and I will cleanse you from all of your idols. ²⁶ And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give* into your inner parts, and I will remove the* heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh.

¹ " 'On that day a well will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, _⌊to cleanse them from sin and from impurity_⌋.*

¹⁹ Therefore, go* and* make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

¹⁶ The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who refuses to believe will be condemned.

³⁸ And Peter said* to them, "Repent and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

³⁶ And as they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?"*

³³ And he took them at that very hour of the night and* washed their* wounds, and he himself was baptized at once, and all those of his household.*

¹⁶ And now why are you delaying? Get up, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name!'

¹⁴ But death reigned from Adam until Moses even over those who did not sin in the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of the one who is to come.

³ Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? ⁴ Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so also we may live _⌊a new way of life_⌋*. ⁵ For if we have become identified with him in the likeness of his death, certainly also we will be identified with him in the likeness* of his resurrection, ⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified together with him, in order that the body of sin may be done away with, that we may no longer be enslaved to sin.

⁹ that* if you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.

⁶ Now I have applied these things, brothers, to myself and Apollos for your sake, in order that in us you may learn not to go beyond what is written, lest someone be inflated with pride on behalf of one person against the other.

¹³ For by* one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free persons, and all were made to drink one Spirit.

¹ Therefore since we* have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of body and spirit, accomplishing holiness in the fear of God.

²⁷ for as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

¹² having been buried with him in baptism, in which also you were raised together with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

⁵ he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

²⁴ For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf,

¹⁹ having reasoned that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which he received him back also as a symbol.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

¹ Of David. A psalm.*
A declaration of Yahweh to my lord, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool."

⁴⁴ 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet" '?*

³⁶ David himself said by the Holy Spirit,
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet." '*

¹⁹ Then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

⁴² For David himself says in the book of Psalms,
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand,

¹¹ who also said, "Men _⌊of Galilee_⌋,* why do you stand there looking* into the sky? This Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven like this will come back in the same way you saw him departing into heaven!"

³⁴ For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says,
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, ³⁵ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." '* ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt, that God has made him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified!"

²¹ whom heaven must receive until the times of the restoration of all things, about which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from earliest times.

³⁴ Who is the one who condemns? Christ* is the one who died, and more than that, who was raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

³⁸ For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

²⁴ then the end, when he hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

²⁰ which he has worked* in Christ, raising* him from the dead and seating him* at his right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ above all rule and authority and power and lordship and every name named, not only in this age but also in the coming one,

¹ Therefore, if you have been raised together with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

³ who is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, sustaining all things by the word of power.* When he* had made purification for sins through him, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

¹³ But to which of the angels has he ever said,
"Sit down at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."*

²⁰ where Jesus, the forerunner for us, entered, because he* became a high priest _⌊forever_⌋* according to the order of Melchizedek.

¹ Now this is the main point in what has been said: we have a high priest such as this, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,

¹² But this one, after he* had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
