¹ David again gathered all the chosen men in Israel, thirty thousand. ² David got up and went and all the people who were with him, from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God which is called the name, the name of Yahweh of hosts, _⌊upon which the cherubim sit_⌋.* ³ They loaded the ark of God on a new utility cart, and they carried it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Now Uzza and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new utility cart along. ⁴ So they brought it out from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill with the ark of God, and Ahio was going before the ark. ⁵ Now David and all the house of Israel were dancing before Yahweh, with all kinds of musical instruments made from ash trees, and with zithers, harps, tambourines, sistrums, and cymbals. ⁶ When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzza reached out to the ark of God and took hold of it, because the oxen had stumbled. ⁷ _⌊Then the anger of Yahweh was kindled_⌋* against Uzza, and God struck him down there because of the indiscretion,* and he died there beside the ark of God. ⁸ _⌊David was angry_⌋* because Yahweh had burst out against Uzza, and he called that place Perez-Uzza until this day. ⁹ But David feared Yahweh on that day and said, "How can the ark of Yahweh come to me?" ¹⁰ However, David was not willing to bring the ark of Yahweh to himself, to the city of David, so David caused it to turn to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. ¹¹ So the ark of Yahweh remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and Yahweh blessed Obed-Edom and all his household. ¹² It was told to King David, "Yahweh has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and all that is his because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with jubilation. ¹³ It happened that when the carriers of the ark of Yahweh had marched six steps that he sacrificed an ox and a fatling. ¹⁴ Now David was dancing with all his might before Yahweh, and David was wearing* a linen ephod. ¹⁵ So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of Yahweh with shouts of joyful acclaim and with the sound of the trumpet. ¹⁶ It happened that when the ark of Yahweh came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked down through the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before Yahweh, and she despised him in her heart. ¹⁷ They brought the ark of Yahweh and set it in its place in the middle of the tent which David had pitched for it. Then David offered up burnt offerings and fellowship offerings in the presence of Yahweh. ¹⁸ When David had finished from the sacrificing of the burnt offerings and the fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh of hosts. ¹⁹ Then he distributed to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, from man to woman, to each: one ring-shaped piece of bread, one cake of dates, and one cake of raisins; and all the people went each to his house. ²⁰ When David returned to bless his household, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David. She said, "How the king of Israel honored himself today _⌊by uncovering himself_⌋* before the eyes of the maids of his servants, _⌊as the total exposure of a worthless one_⌋."* ²¹ So David said to Michal, "In the presence of Yahweh who chose me _⌊over_⌋* your father and _⌊over_⌋* his household, to appoint me as leader over the people of Yahweh, over Israel, I have celebrated before Yahweh. ²² I will demean myself again more than this, and I will be abased in my eyes, but with the maids whom you mentioned, with them I will be honored." ²³ So for Michal the daughter of Saul, she had no child until the day of her death.

¹ So all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and they said, "Here we are, _⌊we are your flesh and blood_⌋.*

¹ At that time, Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the _⌊families_⌋* of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* before King Solomon, in order to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the city of David, that is, Zion.

¹ And David consulted with the commanders of thousands and hundreds, with every leader. ² And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "_⌊If it seems good to you_⌋* and before Yahweh our God, _⌊let us send word abroad_⌋* to our brothers who remain in all the land of Israel and to the priests and Levites with them in the cities with their pasturelands that they might be gathered to us. ³ Then let us bring around the ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it in the days of Saul." ⁴ And all the assembly agreed to do so, for the word was pleasing in the eyes of all the people.

⁶ And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, Kiriath-Jearim of Judah, to bring up from there the ark of Yahweh God who is enthroned between the cherubim, which is called the name. ⁷ And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio were driving the cart. ⁸ Now David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their strength, and with songs, lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets. ⁹ And when they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzza reached out his hand to hold the ark because the cattle had stumbled. ¹⁰ And Yahweh _⌊was angry_⌋* with Uzza, and he struck him down because he reached his hand upon the ark. And he died there before God. ¹¹ And David _⌊was angry_⌋* because Yahweh had broken out in wrath against Uzza. And that place is called Perez Uzza unto this day. ¹² And David feared God on that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God home to me?" ¹³ So David did not move the ark to himself into the city of David but diverted it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. ¹⁴ And the ark of God remained with the household of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And Yahweh blessed the household of Obed-Edom and all that he had.

O Yahweh, remember with regard to David all his affliction.* ² How he swore to Yahweh, he vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: ³ "I will not enter into the tent of my house, I will not go up to the couch of my bed, ⁴ I will give no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, ⁵ until I find a place for Yahweh, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." ⁶ Look, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found her in the fields of Jaar.*

¹⁸ And you will make two cherubim of gold; you will make them of hammered work at the two ends of the atonement cover. ¹⁹ And make one cherub _⌊at one end_⌋* and one cherub _⌊at the other end_⌋* of the atonement cover; you will make the cherubim on its two ends. ²⁰ And the cherubim will be with outspread wings above, covering with their wings over the atonement cover _⌊and facing each other_⌋;* the faces of the cherubim will be toward the atonement cover. ²¹ And you will put the atonement cover above onto the ark, and into the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you. ²² And I will meet you there, and I will speak with you from over the atonement cover, from between the two cherubim that are to be on the ark of the testimony—all that I will command you to the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

¹¹ Then* the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the name, and he cursed, so* they brought him to Moses—and the name of his mother was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. ¹² Then* they put him in custody _⌊so that_⌋* the matter might be made clear to them in accordance with the mouth of Yahweh. ¹³ Then* Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁴ "Bring the curser _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* and all the hearers shall place their hands on his head, and the whole community shall stone him. ¹⁵ And you shall speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, '_⌊Any man_⌋* when he curses his God shall bear* his sin. ¹⁶ And he who blasphemes Yahweh's name certainly shall be put to death; the whole community certainly shall stone him. As the alien, so the native shall be put to death at blaspheming his name.

⁹ then the border turns from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and continues* from there to the cities of Mount Ephron; the border then turns to Baalah (that is, Kiriath Jearim); ¹⁰ and the border goes around from Baalah to the west, to Mount Seir, and passes on to the slope of Mount Jearim from the north (that is, Kesalon), and goes down to Beth Shemesh, and passes along by Timnah.

⁴ So the army sent to Shiloh and brought from there the ark of the covenant of Yahweh of hosts who sits between the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

¹ The men of Kiriath Jearim came and brought up the ark of Yahweh, and they brought it to the house of Abinadab in Gibeah. They consecrated Eleazer his son to guard the ark of Yahweh.

⁶ The priests brought the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place in the inner sanctuary of the house, to the _⌊most holy place_⌋,* under the wings of the cherubim, ⁷ for the cherubim were spreading their wings over the place of the ark. The cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles from above.

⁵ And David summoned all Israel from Shihor of Egypt up to Lebo-Hamath to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-Jearim. ⁶ And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, Kiriath-Jearim of Judah, to bring up from there the ark of Yahweh God who is enthroned between the cherubim, which is called the name.

Give ear, O shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock. Shine forth, you who sits enthroned above the cherubim.

⁴ Our redeemer, Yahweh of hosts is his name, the holy one of Israel.

⁵ For your husband* is your maker,* his name is Yahweh of hosts; and your redeemer is the holy one of Israel, he is called the God of all of the earth.

¹² to whom it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you with reference to the same things which now have been announced to you through those who proclaimed the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, _⌊things into which_⌋* angels desire to look.

⁵ When setting out the camp, Aaron and his sons will go and lower the curtain of the covering and cover with it the ark of the testimony.* ⁶ They will put on it a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋,* and they will spread a cloth of perfect blue over it, and they will place its poles. ⁷ And over the table of the presence they will spread out a blue cloth and put on it the plates, dishes, and libation bowls, and the pitchers of the libation; and the bread of continuity will be on it. ⁸ They will spread over it a scarlet cloth, and they will cover it with a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋,* and they will place its poles. ⁹ They will take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand for the light source, its lamps, a pair of its tongs, its small pans, and all the vessels of its oil with which they attend to it. ¹⁰ They will put it and all its vessels inside a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋* and put it on the carrying frame. ¹¹ Over the altar of gold they will spread a blue cloth, and they will cover it with a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋* and place its poles. ¹² They will take all the vessels of the cultic service with which they serve in the sanctuary and put them on a blue cloth, and they will cover them with a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋;* and they will put them on the carrying frame.

⁴ Yahweh said to Moses, saying, ⁵ "_⌊Take them_⌋,* and they will be used to do the work of the tent of the assembly; and you will give them to the Levites, each _⌊according to his required service_⌋."* ⁶ So Moses took the utility carts and the cattle, and he gave them to the Levites. ⁷ Two utility carts and four cattle he gave to the descendants* of Gershon _⌊according to their required service_⌋;* ⁸ and four utility carts and eight cattle he gave to the descendants* of Merari _⌊according to their required service_⌋,* _⌊under the authority of_⌋* Ithamar son of Aaron the priest. ⁹ But to the descendants* of Kohath he did not give anything because the work of the sanctuary they carried upon them on their shoulders.*

⁷ So then, _⌊prepare_⌋* one new utility cart and two milking cows that have never had a yoke on them, and you must harness the cows to the utility cart and then turn their calves from following them to their stall.

¹ The men of Kiriath Jearim came and brought up the ark of Yahweh, and they brought it to the house of Abinadab in Gibeah. They consecrated Eleazer his son to guard the ark of Yahweh. ² _⌊From_⌋* the day the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, _⌊days multiplied and became twenty years_⌋* while all the house of Israel mourned after Yahweh.

⁷ And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio were driving the cart.

⁵ After this, you will come to the Gibeah of God,* where there are sentries* of the Philistines. _⌊Just as you enter_⌋* the town there, you will meet a procession of prophets coming down from the high place, with harp, tambourine, flute, and zither before them, and they will be prophesying.

¹⁶ Please, let our lord command your servants who are before you! Let them seek a man skilled in playing on the lyre. _⌊When_⌋* the evil spirit from God is upon you, he can play _⌊on it_⌋* and _⌊you will feel better_⌋."*

⁶ _⌊When they were coming back_⌋* after David had returned from striking down the Philistine, the women went out from all the cities of Israel singing and dancing to meet King Saul with tambourines, with joy, and with three-stringed instruments. ⁷ And the women sang as they danced, and they said,
"Saul has struck down his thousands, but David his ten thousands!"

¹⁵ But now, bring me a musician." It happened that at the moment the musician played, the hand of Yahweh came upon him.

⁸ Now David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their strength, and with songs, lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

¹⁰ Of the sons of Uzziel: Amminadab the chief and one hundred and twelve of his brothers. ¹¹ Then David summoned Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab. ¹² And he said to them, "You are the heads of the _⌊families_⌋* for the Levites. Sanctify yourselves and your brothers and bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, to the place I have established for it. ¹³ Because the first time you did not, and Yahweh our God burst out against us, for we did not care for it according to the law." ¹⁴ Then the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel. ¹⁵ And the sons of the Levites carried the ark of God according to what Moses commanded, according to the word of Yahweh, on their shoulders with the carrying poles upon them. ¹⁶ Then David ordered the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of song, musical instruments, stringed instruments, and cymbals, _⌊raising their voices for joy_⌋.* ¹⁷ So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel, and from his brothers, Asaph the son of Berekiah, and from the sons of Merari, their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah; ¹⁸ and with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah the son, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-Edom and Jeiel. ¹⁹ Now the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound bronze cymbals; ²⁰ Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play on harps according to Alamoth; ²¹ and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to play lyres, directing according to the Sheminith. ²² And Kenaniah, chief of the Levites in singing, was to be an instructor in singing because he understood. ²³ And Berekiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark. ²⁴ And Shebaniah, Jehoshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Elizezer the priests _⌊sounded the trumpets_⌋* before the ark of God. And Obed-Edom and Jehiah were gatekeepers for the ark.

⁵ God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet.

²⁵ Singers went up front, those playing stringed instruments last, between them young women playing tambourines. ²⁶ Bless God in the assemblies, Yahweh from the fountain of Israel. ²⁷ There is little Benjamin ruling them, with the princes of Judah in their throng, the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.

³ Praise him with blast of horn; praise him with harp and lyre. ⁴ Praise him with tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flute. ⁵ Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with clashing cymbals.

⁵ that at the time that you hear the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp, the drum and all kinds of music, you must fall down and you must worship the statue of gold* that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.

⁷ _⌊Therefore_⌋,* _⌊at that time_⌋,* _⌊as soon as_⌋* all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp and all kinds of music, all the peoples, _⌊the nations and people of all languages_⌋* were falling down and were worshiping the statue of gold* that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

¹⁰ You, O king, have made a decree that _⌊everyone_⌋* who hears the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp and the drum and all kinds of music, he shall fall down and shall worship the statue of gold.*

¹⁵ Now if you are ready so that _⌊when_⌋* you hear the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp and the drum and all kinds of music, you fall down and you worship the statue that I have made, that will be good. But if you do not worship it, _⌊immediately_⌋* you will be thrown into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire, and _⌊who is the god_⌋* who* will rescue you from my hands?"

²³ Remove from me the noise of your songs, and I do not want to hear the melody of your harps!

⁵ Alas for those who sing to the tune of the harp; like David they improvise on instruments of music.

¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the vessels of the sanctuary when the camp sets out, the descendants* of Kohath will come after to carry these, but they must not touch the sanctuary, or they will die. These are the load of the descendants* of Kohath in the tent of assembly.

¹⁹ Do this to them and they will live and not die when they come near the most holy things. Aaron and his sons will go and appoint them, each one to his task and burden. ²⁰ But they must not go and look _⌊for a moment_⌋* at the holy objects."

⁹ And when they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzza reached out his hand to hold the ark because the cattle had stumbled.

¹ And Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his censer, and they put fire in them and placed incense on it;* then* they presented _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh illegitimate fire, which he had not commanded them. ² So* fire went out _⌊from before_⌋* Yahweh, and it consumed them so that* they died _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ³ Therefore* Moses said to Aaron, "This is what Yahweh spoke, saying, 'Among those who are close to me I will show myself holy, and _⌊in the presence of_⌋* all the people I will display my glory.'"* So* Aaron was silent.

¹⁹ He* struck seventy men* among the men of Beth Shemesh because they looked into the ark of Yahweh. So the people mourned because Yahweh had struck a great blow among the people.

¹⁰ And Yahweh _⌊was angry_⌋* with Uzza, and he struck him down because he reached his hand upon the ark. And he died there before God.

² Then David ordered that none except the Levites should carry the ark of God, for Yahweh had chosen them to carry the ark of Yahweh and to serve him forever.

¹³ Because the first time you did not, and Yahweh our God burst out against us, for we did not care for it according to the law."

³⁰ Because of this, many are weak and sick among you, and quite a few _⌊have died_⌋*. ³¹ But if we were evaluating ourselves, we would not be judged. ³² But if we* are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined, in order that we will not be condemned with the world.

¹¹ And David _⌊was angry_⌋* because Yahweh had broken out in wrath against Uzza. And that place is called Perez Uzza unto this day. ¹² And David feared God on that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God home to me?"

¹ And this* _⌊was greatly displeasing_⌋* to Jonah, and _⌊he became furious_⌋.*

⁹ So God said to Jonah, "_⌊Is it right for you to be angry_⌋* about the plant?" And he said, "_⌊It is right for me to be angry enough to die_⌋!"*

¹² And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* said to Moses, saying, "Look! We will die! We will be destroyed! All of us will perish! ¹³ Anyone who approaches the tabernacle of Yahweh will die. _⌊Will we all die_⌋?"*

¹⁰ So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. But when the ark of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, "They have brought around the ark of the God of Israel to kill us and our* people!" ¹¹ So they sent and gathered all the rulers of the Philistines, and they said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel and let it return to its place, so that it will not kill us and our people." For a _⌊deadly confusion_⌋* was throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.

²⁰ Then the men of Beth Shemesh asked, "Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? And to whom shall it* go up from us?"

²⁷ For will God really dwell on the earth? Behold, the heavens and the heaven of heavens could not contain you! _⌊How could_⌋* this house that I have built?

⁵ Look, even the moon _⌊is not bright_⌋,* and the stars are not pure in his sight. ⁶ _⌊How much less_⌋* for a human being who is a maggot, and _⌊a human_⌋* who is a worm?"

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments.

⁵ And I said, "Woe to me! For I am destroyed!* For I am a man _⌊of unclean lips_⌋,* and I am living among* a people _⌊of unclean lips_⌋,* for my eyes have seen the king, Yahweh of hosts!"

⁸ And when he* saw it,* Simon Peter fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, Lord, because I am _⌊a sinful man_⌋!"* ⁹ For amazement had seized him and all those who were with him at the catch of fish that they had caught,

⁶ like Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you have become when you* do good and are not frightened with respect to any terror.

³ The Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and they are resident aliens there until this day.

¹⁹ The king said to Ittai the Gittite, "Why are you also coming with us? Return and stay with the king, for you are a foreigner; moreover, you are an exile. _⌊You are far from your place_⌋.*

² David sent forth a third of the troops _⌊under the command of Joab_⌋,* and a third _⌊under the command of Abishai_⌋,* the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, and the remaining third _⌊under the command of Ittai_⌋* the Gittite. And the king said to the troops, "I, even I, _⌊will certainly go out_⌋* with you."

¹⁸ and with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah the son, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-Edom and Jeiel.

⁵ Asaph was chief, and his second was Zechariah; Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel were on harps and lyres. And Asaph played on the cymbals.

⁴ And Obed-Edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth, ⁵ Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth; for God blessed him. ⁶ And to Shemaiah his son were sons born who were rulers in the house of their father, for they were mighty warriors of ability. ⁷ The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers were sons of ability, Elihu and Semakiah. ⁸ All these from the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons, and their brothers were men of ability with strength for service; sixty-two of Obed-Edom.

²⁷ But Laban said to him, "Please, if I have found favor in your eyes, I have learned by divination that Yahweh has blessed me because of you."

⁵ And it happened that from the time he appointed him over his house and over all that he had, Yahweh blessed the house of the Egyptian on account of Joseph. And the blessing of Yahweh was upon all that he had in the house and in the field.

²³ The chief of the prison _⌊did not worry about_⌋* anything in his* hand, since Yahweh was with him. And whatever he did Yahweh made it successful.

⁹ Honor Yahweh from your substance,* and from the firstfruits of all that will come to you, ¹⁰ and your barns shall be full of plenty, and your vats shall burst with new wine.

¹⁰ Bring the whole tithe to _⌊the storehouse_⌋,* so that there will be food in my house, and test me please in this," says Yahweh of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour forth for you _⌊an overflowing blessing_⌋.*

¹ And David built houses for himself in the city of David, and he established a place for the ark of God. And he pitched a tent for it. ² Then David ordered that none except the Levites should carry the ark of God, for Yahweh had chosen them to carry the ark of Yahweh and to serve him forever. ³ And David gathered all Israel to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of Yahweh to its place that he had established for it.

²⁵ And it happened that David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

⁷ Lift up your heads, O gates, and rise up, O ancient doorways, that the king of glory* may enter. ⁸ Who is the king of glory?* Yahweh, strong and mighty; Yahweh, mighty in war! ⁹ Lift up your heads, O gates, and lift up, O ancient doorways, that the king of glory* may enter. ¹⁰ Who is the king of glory?* Yahweh of hosts, He is the king of glory!* Selah

²⁴ They have seen your processions, O God, the processions of my God, my king, distinctive in victory.*

⁶ Look, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found her in the fields of Jaar.* ⁷ Let us go to his dwelling places;* Let us worship at his footstool. ⁸ Arise, O Yahweh, to your resting place, you and your mighty ark.

⁴² And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he will never lose his reward."

⁹ But to the descendants* of Kohath he did not give anything because the work of the sanctuary they carried upon them on their shoulders.*

³ and they commanded the people: "When you see the Levitical priests carrying the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God you must set out from your place and go after it.

⁵ King Solomon and all the assembly of Israel who were assembling with him in the presence of the ark were sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted nor numbered because of abundance.

¹⁵ And the sons of the Levites carried the ark of God according to what Moses commanded, according to the word of Yahweh, on their shoulders with the carrying poles upon them.

²⁵ And it happened that David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the house of Obed-Edom with joy. ²⁶ And it happened that when God helped the Levites carrying the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

⁶ And King Solomon and the whole community of Israel that was assembled before him were before the ark, sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted nor numbered for abundance.

²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took her* tambourine in her hand, and all of the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances.

⁶ but you, you will belong to me as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you will speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋."*

⁵ And you shall love Yahweh your God with all of your heart* and with all of your soul* and with all of your might.

³⁴ Jephthah came to Mizpah, to his house, and behold his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and dancing. She was his only child; he did not have a son or daughter except her.

²¹ and watch and look; when the daughters of Shiloh dance in the dances, come out from the vineyards and seize for yourselves a wife from the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.

¹⁸ Now Samuel was serving before Yahweh, as a boy wearing a linen ephod.

²⁸ And I chose him from all the tribes of Israel to be a priest to me, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, and to bear an ephod before me. I gave to the house of your ancestor* all the offerings made by fire by the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

¹⁸ Then the king said to Doeg, "You turn and attack the priests!" So Doeg the Edomite turned and attacked the priests himself, and on that day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.

²⁷ Now David was clothed with a robe of fine linen; so also all the Levites who were carrying the ark, the singers, and Kenaniah the chief of the singing. And David wore a linen ephod.

¹¹ You have turned my wailing into my dancing. You have removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy

³ Let them praise his name with dancing; let them sing praises to him with tambourine and lyre.

⁴ Praise him with tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flute.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do—do it with all your might; for in Sheol—where you are going—no one works, plans, knows, or thinks about anything.

²⁵ "Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and* approached the house, he heard music and dancing.

²³ Whatever you do, accomplish it from the soul, as to the Lord, and not to people,

¹ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ² "Make yourself two silver trumpets; make them of hammered-work. _⌊You will use them_⌋* for calling the community and for breaking the camp. ³ You will blow them, and all the community will assemble to the doorway of the tent of assembly. ⁴ But if they blow only one, the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Israel, will assemble to you. ⁵ When you will blow a blast, the camps that are camping on the east will set out; ⁶ when you blow a second blast, the camps that are camping on the south will set out; they will blow a blast for their journeys. ⁷ But when summoning the assembly, you will blow, but you will not signal with a loud noise. ⁸ The sons of Aaron, the priests, will blow on the trumpets; this will be an eternal decree for your generations. ⁹ If you go to war in your land against the enemy who attacks you, you will signal with a loud noise on the trumpets. You will be remembered _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God, and you will be rescued from your enemies. ¹⁰ "And on the day of your joy and in your appointed times, at the beginning of your months, you will blow on the trumpets in addition to your burnt offerings and in addition to the sacrifices of your fellowship offerings. And they will be as a memorial for you _⌊before_⌋* your God; I am Yahweh your God."

⁴ And seven priests will bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. On the seventh day you will march around the city seven times, and the priests will blow on the trumpets. ⁵ And when they blow long on the horn of the ram, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people will shout with a great war cry, and the wall of the city will fall flat,* and _⌊the people will charge, each one straight ahead_⌋."*

¹⁶ Then David ordered the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of song, musical instruments, stringed instruments, and cymbals, _⌊raising their voices for joy_⌋.*

²⁵ And it happened that David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

²⁸ And all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh with shouting, with the sound of a shofar,* and with trumpets and cymbals, making loud music with musical instruments and stringed instruments.

¹⁰ And the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Yahweh, and the priests in their apparel with the trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with the cymbals, were positioned to praise Yahweh, _⌊as described by_⌋* King David of Israel. ¹¹ And they _⌊sang responsively_⌋,* with praising and thanksgiving to Yahweh saying, "For he is good, for his loyal love is everlasting for Israel."
And all of the people responded with a great shout of joyful acclaim in praise to Yahweh because the house of Yahweh was laid.

¹ For the music director. Of the sons of Korah. A psalm.*
All you peoples, clap your hands.* Shout to God with a voice of rejoicing.

⁵ God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet. ⁶ Sing praises to God, sing praises. Sing praises to our king, sing praises.

¹⁸ I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on him his crown will flourish."*

³ Praise him with blast of horn; praise him with harp and lyre.

¹⁴ Then David sent messengers to Ish-Bosheth the son of Saul, saying, "Give me my wife Michal whom I betrothed to myself* for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines."

²⁹ And when the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came into the city of David, then Michal the daughter of Saul looked down from the window and saw the king, David, leaping and dancing. And she despised him in her heart.

⁷ Because on account of you I have borne reproach; disgrace has covered my face.

³ He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with* sickness, and like _⌊one from whom others hide their faces_⌋,* he was despised, and we did not hold him in high regard.

¹³ But others jeered and* said, "They are full of sweet new wine!" ¹⁴ But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

⁶² Then the king and all of Israel with him offered a sacrifice in the presence of Yahweh. ⁶³ Solomon sacrificed the fellowship offerings which he offered to Yahweh: twenty-two thousand oxen and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep; and the king and all of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* dedicated the house of Yahweh. ⁶⁴ On that day the king consecrated the middle of the courtyard before the house of Yahweh because he offered there the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat of the fellowship offerings because the bronze altar that was in the presence of Yahweh was too small to hold the burnt offerings and the grain offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings. ⁶⁵ Solomon held the festival at that time and all of Israel with him, a great assembly from Lebo Hamath up to the wadi* of Egypt before Yahweh our God, for seven days and seven days, a total of fourteen days.

¹ And David built houses for himself in the city of David, and he established a place for the ark of God. And he pitched a tent for it.

¹ And they brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God.

⁴ (But the ark of God David had brought up from Kiriath-Jearim to the place David had prepared for it, for David had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.)

⁵ And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. ⁶ And the priests stood at their posts with the Levites, with the instruments of the song of Yahweh that King David had made to give thanks to Yahweh—for his loyal love is everlasting—whenever David offered praise by their hand. Now the priests sounded trumpets standing opposite them, and all Israel stood. ⁷ And Solomon consecrated the middle of the courtyard that was before the house of Yahweh, for there he had made the burnt offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings, for the bronze altar that Solomon had made was not able to hold the burnt offerings, cereal offerings, and the fat.

¹⁶ And the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* the priests, the Levites, and the rest of the _⌊returned exiles_⌋* celebrated the dedication of this house of God with joy. ¹⁷ And they offered during the dedication of this house of God one hundred young bulls, two hundred young rams, four hundred lambs, and twelve male goats as a sin offering for Israel according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

⁸ Arise, O Yahweh, to your resting place, you and your mighty ark.

¹⁹ And he blessed him and said,
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Maker of heaven and earth.

⁴³ And Moses saw all the work, and, indeed, they had done it as Yahweh had commanded; so they did, and Moses blessed them.

²² Then* Aaron lifted his hand toward* the people, and he blessed them, and he came down _⌊after_⌋* _⌊sacrificing_⌋* the sin offering and the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings. ²³ Then* Moses and Aaron entered the tent of assembly. When* they came out, they blessed* the people, and Yahweh's glory appeared to all the people.

¹⁴ Then the king turned his face around, and he blessed all of the assembly of Israel. (Now all the assembly of Israel was standing).

⁵⁵ He stood and blessed all of the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,

² And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh.

³ Then the king turned around* and blessed all the assembly of Israel, and all the assembly of Israel were standing.

¹⁸ For a majority of the people, many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves. But they ate the Passover sacrifice _⌊otherwise than prescribed_⌋,* but Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, "May the good Yahweh make atonement unto ¹⁹ everyone whose heart is set to seek God, Yahweh the God of his ancestors,* though not according to the cleansing for the sanctuary."

²⁷ Then the priests and the Levites arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their prayer came to his holy dwelling place in the heavens.

²⁶ God, after he* had raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning each of you back from your wickedness!"

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham as he* was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,* ² to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth of everything*—in the first place, his name is translated "king of righteousness," and then also "king of Salem," that is, "king of peace"; ³ without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God—he remains a priest for all time. ⁴ But see how great this man was, to whom Abraham* the patriarch gave a tenth from the spoils! ⁵ And indeed those of the sons of Levi who receive the priesthood have a commandment to collect a tenth from the people according to the law, that is, from their brothers, although _⌊they are descended from Abraham_⌋*. ⁶ But the one who did not trace his descent from them collected tithes from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises. ⁷ Now without any dispute the inferior is blessed by the more prominent.

⁶⁶ On the eighth day, he sent the people away, and they blessed the king, and they went to their tents rejoicing and _⌊in good spirits_⌋* because of all the goodness that Yahweh had shown to David his servant and to Israel his people.

³ And he distributed to every man of Israel, both men and women, to each person a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins.

¹⁰ And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents rejoicing and festive of heart on account of the goodness that Yahweh had done for David, Solomon, and Israel his people.

²⁴ for Hezekiah the king of Judah had _⌊provided_⌋* one thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep for the assembly, and the princes _⌊provided_⌋* one thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep for the assembly. And many priests consecrated themselves.

⁷ Then Josiah provided for the _⌊lay people_⌋* sheep, lambs, and young goats, all for the Passover for all who were found there, to the sum of thirty thousand, along with three thousand bulls. These were the possession of the king. ⁸ And his officials contributed a freewill offering to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, commanders of the house of God, gave to the priests two thousand six hundred Passover lambs and three hundred bulls.

¹² And they set aside the burnt offerings to give them to the clans of the _⌊families_⌋* for the _⌊lay people_⌋,* to offer to Yahweh according to what is written in the scroll of Moses. And thus they did with the bulls. ¹³ Then they roasted the Passover lamb in the fire according to the ordinance. And they boiled the holy offerings in pots, in kettles, and in dishes and brought it quickly to the _⌊lay people_⌋.*

¹⁰ Then he said to them, "Go, eat festive food and drink sweet drinks, and send a share to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our lord. Do not be grieved because the joy of Yahweh is your refuge."

¹⁷ "But on the prince shall be the responsibility for the burnt offerings, and the grain offering, and the libation at the feasts, and at the New Moon festivals, and at* the Sabbaths at all of the assemblies of the house of Israel; he shall provide the sin offering, and the grain offering, and the burnt offering, and the fellowship offering to make atonement for the house of Israel.

³⁵ I have shown you with respect to all things that by* working hard in this way it is necessary to help those who are in need, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."*

⁸ Therefore it says,
"Ascending on high he led captivity captive; he gave gifts to men."*

¹⁹ For I have chosen* him, that he will command his children and his household after him that they will keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice, so that Yahweh may bring upon Abraham that which he said to him."

¹⁵ But if it is bad in your eyes to serve Yahweh, choose for yourselves today whom you want to serve, whether it is the gods that your ancestors* served beyond the river,* or the gods of the Amorites* in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve Yahweh."

⁴ And they gave to him seventy pieces of silver from the temple* of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech hired with them* worthless and reckless men, and _⌊they followed him_⌋.*

²³ So he went there to Naioth in Ramah and the Spirit of God came upon him also, and _⌊he walked along prophesying_⌋* until he came to Naioth in Ramah. ²⁴ He also stripped off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel. He lay naked all that day and all night. Therefore they say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"

¹⁴ Now David was dancing with all his might before Yahweh, and David was wearing* a linen ephod.

¹⁶ It happened that when the ark of Yahweh came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked down through the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before Yahweh, and she despised him in her heart.

¹⁸ When David had finished from the sacrificing of the burnt offerings and the fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh of hosts.

⁴³ Then all the people went each to his house, and David turned to bless his household.

³ Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him and said, "Their wall of stone that they are building would break down if a fox went on it!" ⁴ Hear, our God, for we are despised. Turn their scorn on their head and give them over to plunder in the land of captivity.

⁸ _⌊A senseless crowd_⌋,* yes, _⌊a disreputable brood_⌋,* they were cast out from the land.

¹ A psalm; a song for the dedication of the house.* Of David.*
I will exalt you, O Yahweh, because you have drawn me up, and have not made my enemies rejoice over me.

⁷ Because on account of you I have borne reproach; disgrace has covered my face. ⁸ I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to my mother's sons, ⁹ because the zeal for your house* has consumed me, and the reproaches of those reproaching you have fallen on me.

² I will give attention to the way of integrity. When will you come to me? I will walk in the integrity of my heart in the midst of my house.

² For* he went* up like a shoot before him, and like a root from dry ground. He had no form and no majesty that* we should see him, and no appearance that* we should take pleasure in him. ³ He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with* sickness, and like _⌊one from whom others hide their faces_⌋,* he was despised, and we did not hold him in high regard.

²¹ And when* _⌊his family_⌋* heard this,* they went out to restrain him, for they were saying, "He has lost his mind!"

⁶ Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?"

¹⁰ We are fools for the sake of Christ, but you are prudent in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, but we are dishonored! ¹¹ Until the present hour we are both hungry and thirsty and poorly clothed and roughly treated and homeless, ¹² and we toil, working with our own hands. When we are* reviled, we bless; when we are* persecuted, we endure; ¹³ when we are* slandered, we encourage. We have become like the refuse of the world, the offscouring of all things, until now.

⁷ but emptied himself by* taking the form of a slave, by* becoming in the likeness of people. And being found in appearance like a man, ⁸ he humbled himself by* becoming obedient to the point of death, that is, death on a cross.

¹⁴ But now, your kingdom will not endure. Yahweh has sought for himself a man according to his own heart, and Yahweh has appointed him as leader over his people, because you have not kept what Yahweh commanded you."

²⁸ Then Samuel said to him, "Yahweh has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to your neighbor _⌊who is better than you_⌋.*

¹ Then Yahweh said to Samuel, "_⌊How long_⌋* will you mourn about Saul? I have rejected him from being king over Israel! Fill up your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have chosen a king for myself among his sons."

¹² So he sent and brought him. Now he was ruddy with beautiful eyes and of _⌊handsome_⌋* appearance. And Yahweh said, "Arise, anoint him, for this is he."

⁵ Now David and all the house of Israel were dancing before Yahweh, with all kinds of musical instruments made from ash trees, and with zithers, harps, tambourines, sistrums, and cymbals.

⁷⁰ And he chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds. ⁷¹ He brought him from following nursing ewes to shepherd Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance. ⁷² And he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skillfulness of his hands.

¹⁹ Formerly you spoke in a vision to your faithful ones, and said, "I have bestowed help on a mighty man; I have exalted one chosen from the people. ²⁰ I have found David, my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him,

²² And after* removing him, he raised up David for their king, about whom he also said, testifying, 'I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man in accordance with my heart, who will carry out all my will.'*

³¹ Therefore, whether you eat or you drink or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

¹⁰ _⌊I am not worthy_⌋* of all the loyal love and all the faithfulness that you have shown* your servant, for with only my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.

³⁰ Therefore,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh the God of Israel, 'though I solemnly said that your house and the house of your ancestor* would walk before me forever, but now,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me, I will treat with contempt!

⁴ "Look, I am insignificant. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.

⁶ Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes."

⁶ I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out my _⌊beard_⌋;* I did not hide my face from insults and spittle.

⁷ Listen to me, you who know righteousness, people who have my teaching in their heart; you must not fear the reproach of men, or be terrified because of their abuse.

¹¹ Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you, lying on account of me. ¹² Rejoice and be glad, because your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.

⁴¹ So they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin* rejoicing, because they had been considered worthy to be dishonored for the sake of the name. ⁴² Every day, both in the temple courts* and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news that the Christ* was Jesus.

¹⁵ The saying is trustworthy and worthy of all acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁴ If you are reviled on account of the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the right time,

⁶ (Now her rival wife would provoke her severely in order to upset her because Yahweh had closed her womb.) ⁷ And so he used to do* year after year; _⌊whenever_⌋* she went up to the house of Yahweh, she* would provoke her so that she* would weep and would not eat. ⁸ So Elkanah her husband would say to her: "Hannah, why do you weep and why do you not eat? And _⌊why are you heartsick_⌋?* Am I not better to you than ten sons?"

³⁵ Samuel _⌊did not see Saul again_⌋* until the day of his death, but Samuel mourned over Saul, and Yahweh regretted that he made Saul king over Israel.

¹ And seven women shall grasp at one man on that day, saying, "We will eat our own bread, and we will wear our own clothing; only _⌊let us be called by your name_⌋!* Take away our disgrace!"

¹⁴ And it was revealed in my ears by Yahweh of hosts:
"Surely this sin will not be atoned for you until you die!" says the Lord, Yahweh of hosts.

¹¹ Ephraim's glory is like a bird; it will fly away— no birth, no pregnancy, and no conception.

²⁵ and _⌊did not have sexual relations with_⌋* her until she gave birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

²⁵ "Thus the Lord has done for me in the days in which he has concerned himself with me,* to take away my disgrace among people."
