¹ I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom, ² preach the word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all patience and instruction. ³ For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound teaching, but in accordance with their own desires, they will accumulate for themselves teachers, _⌊because they have an insatiable curiosity_⌋*, ⁴ and they will turn away from the hearing of the truth, but will turn to myths. ⁵ But you, be self-controlled in all things, bear hardship patiently, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. ⁶ For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is imminent. ⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have completed the race, I have kept the faith. ⁸ Finally, the crown of righteousness is reserved for me, that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing. ⁹ Make haste to come to me quickly. ¹⁰ For Demas deserted me, because he* loved the present age, and went to Thessalonica. Crescens went to Galatia; Titus went to Dalmatia. ¹¹ Luke alone is with me. Take along Mark and* bring him with you, because he is useful to me for ministry. ¹² But I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus. ¹³ When you* come, bring the cloak that I left behind in Troas with Carpus, and the scrolls, especially the parchments. ¹⁴ Alexander the metalworker did me much harm; may the Lord pay back to him according to his deeds, ¹⁵ against whom you also be on guard, because he vehemently opposed our words. ¹⁶ At my first defense, no one came to my aid, but they all deserted me; may it not be counted against them. ¹⁷ But the Lord helped me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fulfilled and all the Gentiles might hear, and he rescued me from the lion's mouth. ¹⁸ The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will save me for his heavenly kingdom, to whom be the glory _⌊forever and ever_⌋*. ³¹ Now when the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. ³² And all the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate them from one another like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. ³³ And he will place the sheep on his right and the goats on the left. ³⁴ Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world! ³⁵ For I was hungry and you gave me something* to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something* to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me as a guest, ³⁶ I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you came to me.' ³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,* or thirsty and give you something* to drink? ³⁸ And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you* as a guest, or naked and clothe you?* ³⁹ And when did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?' ⁴⁰ And the king will answer and* say to them, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did it* to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it* to me.' ⁴¹ Then he will also say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed ones, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels! ⁴² For I was hungry and you did not give me anything* to eat, I was thirsty and you did not give me anything* to drink, ⁴³ I was a stranger and you did not welcome me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not care for me.' ⁴⁴ Then they will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and not serve you?' ⁴⁵ Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did not do it* to one of the least of these, you did not do it* to me.' ⁴⁶ And these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

¹² Therefore he said, "A certain nobleman traveled to a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.

¹⁵ And it happened that when he returned after* receiving the kingdom, he ordered these slaves to whom he had given the money to be summoned to him, so that he could know what they had gained by trading.

⁴² And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom!"

²² For the Father does not judge anyone, but he has given all judgment to the Son, ²³ in order that all people* will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. ²⁴ Truly, truly I say to you that the one who hears my word and who believes the one who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. ²⁵ "Truly, truly I say to you, that an hour is coming—and now is here—when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and the ones who hear will live. ²⁶ For just as the Father has life in himself, thus also he has granted to the Son to have life in himself. ²⁷ And he has granted him authority to carry out judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

⁴² And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify solemnly that this one is the one appointed* by God as judge of the living and of the dead.

³¹ because he has set a day on which he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man who he has appointed, having provided proof to everyone by* raising him from the dead."

¹⁶ on the day when God judges the secret things of people, according to my gospel, through* Christ Jesus.

⁹ For Christ died and became alive again for this reason, in order that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. ¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? Or also, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. ¹¹ For it is written,
"As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will praise God."*

⁴ For I am conscious of nothing against myself, but not by this am I vindicated. But the one who judges me is the Lord. ⁵ Therefore do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord should come, who will both enlighten the hidden things of darkness and will reveal the counsels of hearts, and then praise will come to each one from God.

⁹ Therefore indeed we have as our ambition, whether at home in the body or absent from the body, to be acceptable to him. ¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, in order that each one may receive back the things through the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

⁴ When Christ, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.

¹⁵ For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain until the Lord's coming, will not possibly precede those who have fallen asleep. ¹⁶ For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

⁷ and to you who are being afflicted, rest with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels, ⁸ with burning flame* giving punishment to those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, ⁹ who will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength, ¹⁰ whenever he should come to be glorified on that day by his saints and to be marveled at by all who believe, because our testimony was believed among you,

⁸ and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth, and wipe out by the appearance of his coming,

²¹ I testify solemnly before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing according to partiality.

¹³ I command you, in the sight of God who gives life to all things and Christ Jesus who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, ¹⁴ that you observe the commandment without fault, irreproachable until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁴ Remind people of these things, solemnly urging them before the Lord* not to dispute about words. This is in no way beneficial and leads to the ruin of the hearers.

⁸ Finally, the crown of righteousness is reserved for me, that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

¹³ looking forward to the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

²⁷ And _⌊just as_⌋* it is destined for people to die once, and after this, judgment, ²⁸ thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

⁷ so that the genuineness of your faith, more valuable than gold that is passing away, but is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

⁵ They* will give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁴ And when* the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

¹¹ For in this way entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied for you.

¹⁷ For he received honor and glory from God the Father when* a voice such as this was brought to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

²⁸ And now, little children, remain in him, so that whenever he is revealed we may have confidence and not be put to shame before him at his coming.

⁷ Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even every one who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him.
Yes, amen.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne and the one who was seated on it, _⌊from whose presence_⌋* earth and heaven fled, and a place was not found for them. ¹² And I saw the dead—the great and the small—standing before the throne, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and each one was judged according to their deeds. ¹⁴ And Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire. ¹⁵ And if anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

⁹ I have brought good tidings of righteousness in the great congregation. Look, I have not shut my lips. O Yahweh, _⌊you surely know that_⌋.*

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me, he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up _⌊the brokenhearted_⌋,* to _⌊proclaim_⌋* release to the captives and liberation to those who are bound, ² to _⌊proclaim_⌋* the year of Yahweh's favor, and our God's day of vengeance, to comfort all those in mourning, ³ to _⌊give_⌋* for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And _⌊they will be called_⌋* oaks of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, to show his glory.

² "Get up! Go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the message that I am telling you."

¹⁸ "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because of which he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send out in freedom those who are oppressed, ¹⁹ to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord."*

⁴ And when they* came to Jesus, they began imploring* him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy that you grant this for him,

²³ And whoever is not offended by me is blessed."

⁶⁰ But he said to him, "Leave the dead to bury their own dead! But you go and* proclaim the kingdom of God."

⁶ And Jacob's well was there, so Jesus, because he had become tired from the journey, simply sat down at the well. It was about the sixth hour. ⁷ A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me water* to drink." ⁸ (For his disciples had gone away into the town so that they could buy food.) ⁹ So the Samaritan woman said to him, "How do you, being a Jew, ask from me water* to drink, since I* am a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) ¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, "If you had known the gift of God and who it is who says to you, 'Give me water* to drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."

³² But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you do not know about." ³³ So the disciples began to say* to one another, "No one brought him anything* to eat, did they?"* ³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is that I do the will of the one who sent me and complete his work.

⁵ And when they* came to Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they also had John as assistant.

¹³ And on the day of the Sabbath, we went outside the city gate beside the river, where we thought there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and* spoke to the women assembled there.

³¹ And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household!" ³² And they spoke the message of the Lord to him, together with all those in his house. ³³ And he took them at that very hour of the night and* washed their* wounds, and he himself was baptized at once, and all those of his household.*

⁷ And on the first day of the week, when* we had assembled to break bread, Paul began conversing* with them, because he* was going to leave on the next day, and he extended his* message until midnight.

¹⁸ And when they came to him, he said to them, "You know from the first day on which I set foot in Asia* how I was the whole time with you— ¹⁹ serving the Lord with all humility and with tears, and with the trials that happened to me through the plots of the Jews— ²⁰ how I did not shrink from proclaiming to you anything that would be profitable, and from teaching you in public and from house to house, ²¹ testifying both to Jews and to Greeks with respect to repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.

¹⁶ And when we entered into Rome, Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who was guarding him.

³⁰ So he stayed two whole years in his own rented house, and welcomed all who came to him, ³¹ proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.

¹⁵ And how will they preach, unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How timely are the feet of those who bring good news of good things."*

¹² rejoicing in hope, enduring in affliction, being devoted to prayer,

⁶ Now the one who is taught the word must share in all good things with the one who teaches.

²⁵ of which I became a minister, according to God's stewardship which was given to me for you, to complete the word of God,

²⁸ whom we proclaim, by* admonishing every person* and teaching every person* with all wisdom, in order that we may present every person* mature in Christ, ²⁹ for which purpose also I labor, striving according to his working which is at work powerfully in me.

¹¹ just as you know how we treated each one of you, like a father his own children, ¹² exhorting and consoling you and insisting that you live in a manner worthy of God, who calls you to his own kingdom and glory.

¹⁴ And we urge you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, console the discouraged, help the sick, be patient toward all people.

²⁰ Do not despise prophecies,

¹³ Until I come, pay attention to the public reading,* to exhortation, to teaching.

¹⁵ Practice these things. Be diligent* in these things, in order that your progress may be evident to everyone. ¹⁶ Fix your attention on yourself and on your teaching. Continue in them, for by* doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

²⁰ Reprove those who sin in the presence of all, in order that the rest also may experience fear.

²¹ Therefore, if someone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

²⁵ correcting those who are opposed with gentleness, seeing whether perhaps God may grant them repentance to a knowledge of the truth,

¹⁰ But you have faithfully followed my teaching, way of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,

¹³ This testimony is true, for which reason reprove them severely, in order that they may be sound in the faith,

¹⁵ Speak these things and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

²² Now I urge you, brothers, bear with my word of exhortation, for indeed I have written to you _⌊briefly_⌋*.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I reprove and discipline. Be zealous, therefore, and repent!

³³ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me I will blot him from my scroll.

²² Then Elijah said to the people, "I alone am left a prophet of Yahweh, but the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty men.

⁸ Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man to inquire from Yahweh, but I despise him, for he never prophesies anything good concerning me, but only bad: Micaiah the son of Imlah." Then Jehoshaphat said, "The king should not say so."

¹⁸ Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not say to you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but disaster?"

⁹ For the eyes of Yahweh roam throughout all the earth to strengthen those whose heart is fully devoted to him. You have been foolish in this, for from now on you will have wars." ¹⁰ Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in _⌊the prison_⌋,* for he was enraged with him concerning this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.

⁴ Then Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Seek _⌊first of all_⌋* the word of Yahweh." ⁵ Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets, four hundred men. And he said to them, "Shall we go to Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or shall we cease?" And they said, "Go up, since God will give it into the hand of the king."

²⁰ Then the Spirit of God clothed Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people and said to them, "Thus says God: 'Why are you transgressing the commandments of Yahweh so that you will not succeed? For you have forsaken Yahweh, so he will forsake you.'" ²¹ Then they conspired against him and stoned him with stones at the command of the king in the courtyard of the house of Yahweh. ²² So King Joash did not remember the loyal love that Jehoiada had shown to him, and he killed his son. And as he was dying he said, "May Yahweh see and avenge!"

¹⁵ So _⌊Yahweh became very angry_⌋* with Amaziah and sent a prophet to him, and he said to him, "Why have you sought the gods of the people who could not deliver their own people from your hand?" ¹⁶ And it happened that while he was speaking to him, he said to him, "Have we appointed you as a counselor to the king? Stop—_⌊why should you be killed_⌋?"* So the prophet stopped and said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my advice."

¹² to whom he has said,
"This is rest; give rest to the weary; and this is repose"; yet* they were not willing to hear.

⁹ The land mourns; it languishes. Lebanon feels abashed; it withers. Sharon is like the desert, and Bashan and Carmel _⌊are losing their leaves_⌋.* ¹⁰ "Now I will arise," says Yahweh. "Now I will lift myself up proudly; now I will raise myself. ¹¹ You conceive dry grass, you bring forth stubble; your breath is a fire; it will consume you.

³¹ The prophets prophesy _⌊falsely_⌋,* and the priests rule _⌊by their own authority_⌋,* and my people love it* so much. But what will you do _⌊when the end comes_⌋?*

¹⁶ Thus says Yahweh: "Stand at the roads and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the way of the good is, and walk in it, and find rest for your inner selves.* But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'* ¹⁷ And I raised up watchmen over you: 'Listen attentively to the sound of a horn.' But they said, 'We will not listen attentively.'

¹⁸ Then they said, "Come and let us plan plans against Jeremiah, for instruction will not be lost from the priest, nor advice from the wise man, nor the word from the prophet. Come and _⌊let us bring charges against him_⌋,* and let us not listen attentively to any of his words."

¹⁶ Thus says Yahweh of hosts,
"You must not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are deluding you with visions of their _⌊mind_⌋,* They do not speak from the mouth of Yahweh. ¹⁷ They are* continually saying to those who disregard the word of Yahweh, 'Peace it will be to you,' and to _⌊each one_⌋* who walks in the stubbornness of his heart they say, 'Calamity will not come upon you.'

⁹ And you, you must not listen to your prophets, and to your diviners, and to your dreamers, and to your interpreters of signs, and to your sorcerers who are _⌊saying_⌋,* 'You will not serve the king of Babylon.'

⁸ For thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, 'Do not let your prophets who are in your midst, and your diviners, deceive you, and you must not listen to your dreams that you are causing them to dream.

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam the king of Israel, saying, "Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to endure all of his words. ¹¹ For this Amos has said, 'Jeroboam will die by the sword and Israel will certainly go into exile away from his land.'" ¹² And Amaziah said to Amos, "O seer, go, flee to the land of Judah and earn food there and prophesy there!" ¹³ But do not prophesy again at Bethel, because this is a sanctuary of a king and this is a temple of a kingdom." ¹⁴ And Amos answered and said to Amaziah, "I am not a prophet and I am not a son of a prophet, but I am a herdsman and I am one taking care of sycamore trees. ¹⁵ And Yahweh took me from following behind the sheep and goats and Yahweh said to me, "Go, prophesy to my people Israel! ¹⁶ And so then, hear the word of Yahweh! You are saying, 'You must not prophesy against Israel and you must not preach against the house of Isaac!' ¹⁷ Therefore, thus says Yahweh, 'Your wife will become a prostitute in the city and your sons and your daughters will fall by the sword and your land will be divided with a line, and you* will die in an unclean land and Israel will surely go into exile from this land.'"

¹¹ If a man walks about in a spirit of deception and lies, saying "I will preach to you of wine and strong drink," then he would be a preacher for this people!

²⁶ Woe whenever all people speak well of you, for their fathers used to do the same things to the false prophets.

¹⁹ And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay their* hands on him at that same hour, and they were afraid of the people, for they knew that he had told this parable with reference to them.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment: that the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For everyone who practices evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed. ²¹ But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, in order that his deeds may be revealed, that they are done in God.

⁴⁵ But because I am telling the truth, you do not believe me.

²¹ (Now all the Athenians and the foreigners who stayed there used to spend their time in nothing else than telling something or listening to something new.)

¹ And I, when I* came to you, brothers, did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony* of God.

⁴ and my speech and my preaching were not with the persuasiveness* of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and power,

¹⁶ So then, have I become your enemy by* being truthful to you?

¹⁰ sexually immoral people, homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, perjurers, and _⌊whatever_⌋* else is opposed to sound teaching,

¹ Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, ² by the hypocrisy of liars, who are seared in their own conscience, ³ who forbid marrying and insist on abstaining from foods that God created for sharing in with thankfulness by those who believe and who know the truth,

¹ But know this, that in the last days difficult times will come, ² for people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ hardhearted, irreconcilable, slanderous, without self-control, savage, with no interest for what is good, ⁴ traitors, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God, ⁵ maintaining a form of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid these people. ⁶ For from these are those who slip into houses and captivate foolish women loaded down with sins, led by various kinds of desires,

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, as there will be false teachers among you also, who will bring in _⌊destructive heresies_⌋*, even denying the Master who bought them, thus* bringing on themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their licentious ways, because of whom the way of truth will be reviled. ³ And in greediness they will exploit you with false words, whose condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

³² for the waywardness of the simple ones will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.

¹¹ But they refused to listen, and turned* a stubborn shoulder and _⌊stopped their ears from listening_⌋.*

⁵⁷ But crying out with a loud voice, they stopped their ears and rushed at him with one purpose.

⁴ and not to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause useless speculations rather than God's plan that is by faith.

⁷ But reject those _⌊worthless myths told by elderly women_⌋*, and train yourself for godliness.

²⁰ O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Turn away from pointless empty talk and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge,

¹⁵ You know this, that all those in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

¹⁴ not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of people who turn away from the truth.

²⁵ Grace be with all of you.

¹⁶ For we did not make known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ by* following ingeniously concocted myths, but by* being eyewitnesses of that one's majesty.

⁹ All wild animals in the field, come, to devour,* all wild animals in the forest! ¹⁰ His watchmen are blind, none of them know. They are all dumb dogs; they are unable to bark, panting, lying down, loving to slumber.

⁶ I have appointed watchmen upon your walls, Jerusalem; all day and all night they shall never be silent. You who profess Yahweh have no rest.

¹⁷ And I raised up watchmen over you: 'Listen attentively to the sound of a horn.' But they said, 'We will not listen attentively.'

¹⁷ "Son of man,* I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, then you must warn them from me.

² "Son of man,* speak to _⌊your people_⌋,* and you must say to them, 'A land, if I bring over it a sword and the people of the land take a man, one from their number, and they appoint him for them as a watchman,

⁷ "And you, son of man,* I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; if you hear a word from my mouth, then you must warn them from me.

³⁴ It is like a man away on a journey, who left his house and gave his slaves authority—to each one his work—and to the doorkeeper he gave orders that he should be on the alert.

³⁷ And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Be on the alert!"

³⁷ Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he returns! Truly I say to you that he will dress himself for service and have them recline at the table and will come by and* serve them.

³⁰ And from among you yourselves men will arise, speaking _⌊perversions of the truth_⌋* in order to draw away the disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for three years I did not stop warning each one of you* with tears.

⁸ And on the next day we departed and* came to Caesarea, and entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and* stayed with him.

¹⁹ by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit,* so that from Jerusalem and traveling around as far as Illyricum I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

¹¹ And he himself gave some as apostles and some as prophets and some as evangelists and some as pastors and teachers

¹⁷ And tell Archippus, "Direct your attention to the ministry that you received in the Lord, in order that you may complete it."

⁶ So then, we must not sleep like the rest, but must be on the alert and be self-controlled.

¹² Let no one look down on your youth, but be an example for the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

¹⁵ Practice these things. Be diligent* in these things, in order that your progress may be evident to everyone.

⁸ Therefore, do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor me his prisoner, but suffer along with me for the gospel, according to the power of God,

³ Suffer together with me as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ Because of this, I endure all things for the sake of the chosen, in order that they also may obtain salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¹⁰ But you have faithfully followed my teaching, way of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, ¹¹ persecutions, and sufferings that happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, and in Lystra, what sort of persecutions I endured, and the Lord delivered me from all of them. ¹² And indeed, all those who want to live in a godly manner in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

¹⁷ Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with groaning, for this would be unprofitable for you.

¹³ Therefore, _⌊when you have prepared your minds for action_⌋* by* being self-controlled, put your hope completely in the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

² Be on the alert and strengthen the remaining things that are about to die, for I have not found your works completed before my God.

²¹ And Israel said to Joseph, "Behold, I am about to die, but God will be with you and will bring you back to the land of your ancestors.*

²⁴ And Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die, but God will certainly visit you and bring you up from this land to the land that he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob."

¹² Yahweh said to Moses, "Go up to this mountain of Abarim, and see the land that I have given to the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ¹³ When you see it, you will be gathered to your people, just as Aaron your brother was gathered, ¹⁴ because you rebelled against my word in the desert of Zin when the community quarreled regarding my holiness at the waters." (These are the waters of Meribah-Kadesh in the desert of Zin.) ¹⁵ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁶ "Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the community ¹⁷ who will go out before them and will come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so the community of Yahweh will not be like a flock that does not have a shepherd."

¹⁴ Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Look, _⌊you are about to die_⌋;* call Joshua and present yourselves in the tent of assembly,* so that I may instruct him." So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in* the tent of assembly.*

¹⁴ Look! _⌊I am about to die_⌋,* and you know in all your hearts* and souls* that not one thing _⌊failed_⌋* from all the good things that Yahweh your God promised concerning you; everything _⌊has been fulfilled_⌋;* _⌊not one thing failed_⌋.*

²³ But I am hard pressed _⌊between the two options_⌋*, having the desire to depart and to be with Christ, _⌊for this is very much better_⌋*.

¹⁷ But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and rejoice with all of you.

¹⁴ because I* know that the removal of my habitation is imminent, as indeed our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will also make every effort that you are able at any time, after my departure, _⌊to recall these things to mind_⌋*.

²³ Buy truth and do not sell it, wisdom and instruction and understanding.

¹⁵ But the seed on the good soil—these are the ones who, after* hearing the word, hold fast to it* with a noble and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance.

²⁸ But he said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and follow it!"*

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is that I do the will of the one who sent me and complete his work.

⁶ "I have revealed your name to the men whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you have given them to me, and they have kept your word.

²⁵ But while John was completing his* mission, he said, 'What do you suppose me to be? I am not he! But behold, one is coming after me of whom I am not worthy to untie the sandals of his* feet!'

²⁴ But I consider my* life as worth _⌊nothing_⌋* to myself, in order to finish my mission and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

²⁴ Do you not know that those who run in the stadium all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. ²⁵ And everyone who competes exercises self-control in all things. Thus those do so in order that they may receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. ²⁶ Therefore I run in this way, not as running aimlessly; I box in this way, not as beating the air. ²⁷ But I discipline my body and subjugate it, lest somehow after* preaching to others, I myself should become disqualified.

¹³ Brothers, I do not consider myself to have laid hold of it.* But I do one thing, forgetting the things behind and straining toward the things ahead, ¹⁴ I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

¹⁸ I am setting before you this instruction, Timothy my child, in accordance with the prophecies spoken long ago about you, in order that by them you may fight the good fight,

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

¹⁴ Guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

¹ Therefore, since* we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, putting aside every weight and _⌊the sin that so easily ensnares us_⌋*, let us run with patient endurance the race that has been set before us, ² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁸ 'I know your works (behold, I have put before you an opened door that no one is able to shut*) that you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and did not deny my name.

¹⁰ Because you have kept the word of my patient endurance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole inhabited world, to put to the test those who live on the earth.

²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to kill the righteous with the wicked, that* the righteous would be as the wicked! Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do justice?"

¹¹ God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day.

¹⁹ How abundant is your goodness that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you perform for those who take refuge in you before the children of humankind.

⁹ She will give a garland for your head; she shall bestow a crown of glory upon you."

¹⁷ "They will be mine," says Yahweh of hosts, "on the day that I am acting, my treasured possession. I will have compassion on them as a man has compassion on his son who serves him.

¹⁹ "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and consuming insect* destroy and where thieves break in and steal, ²⁰ but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor consuming insect* destroy and where thieves do not break in or steal.

²² On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many miracles in your name?'

³⁶ "But concerning that day and hour no one knows—not even the angels of heaven nor the Son—except the Father alone.

¹² I tell you that it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town!

⁵ But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

²³ Not only this, but we ourselves also, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves while we* await eagerly our adoption, the redemption of our body.

⁹ But just as it is written,
"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and have not entered into the heart of man, all that* God has prepared for those who love him."*

²⁵ And everyone who competes exercises self-control in all things. Thus those do so in order that they may receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.

² For indeed, in this house we groan, because we* desire to put on our dwelling from heaven,

⁵ because of the hope reserved for you in heaven, which you have heard about beforehand in the word of truth, the gospel,

¹⁰ and to await his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus, the one who delivers us from the coming wrath.

⁴ But you, brothers, are not in the darkness, so that the day should catch you like a thief,

⁵ a proof of the righteous judgment of God, so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, on behalf of which also you are suffering, ⁶ since it is righteous in the sight of God to pay back those who are afflicting you with affliction,

¹⁹ storing up for themselves a good foundation for the future, in order that they may take hold of what is truly life.

¹² for which reason also I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know in whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted until that day.

¹⁸ May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord in that day! And how much he served me in Ephesus you know very well.

⁵ And also if anyone competes he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

¹ I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom,

²⁸ thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

¹² Blessed is the person* who endures testing, because when he* is approved he will receive the crown of life that he* has promised to those who love him.

⁴ into an inheritance imperishable and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you

¹⁰ Do not be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and you will experience affliction ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

⁴ And around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders dressed in white clothing, and on their heads were gold crowns.

¹⁰ the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and put down their crowns before the throne, saying,

¹¹ And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and the one seated on it was called "Faithful" and "True," and with justice* he judges and makes war.

²⁰ The one who testifies about these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly!" Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

⁴ longing to see you as I* remember your tears, so that I may be filled with joy,

²¹ Make haste to come before winter. Eubulus and Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brothers greet you.

⁵⁶ But all this has happened in order that the scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled." Then the disciples all abandoned him and* fled.

⁶¹ And another person also said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say farewell to those in my house." ⁶² But Jesus said,* "No one who puts his* hand on the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God!"

²⁶ "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and furthermore, even his own life, _⌊he cannot be_⌋* my disciple. ²⁷ Whoever does not carry his own cross and _⌊follow_⌋* me _⌊cannot be_⌋* my disciple.

³³ In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his own possessions _⌊cannot be_⌋* my disciple.

⁶ And they traveled through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been prevented by the Holy Spirit from speaking the message in Asia.*

¹ Now after they* traveled through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ Now these were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica. _⌊They_⌋* accepted the message with all eagerness, examining the scriptures every day to see if these things were so.

¹³ But when the Jews from Thessalonica found out that the message of God had been proclaimed by Paul in Berea also, they came there too, inciting and stirring up the crowds.

²³ And after* spending some time there, he departed, traveling through one place after another in the Galatian region and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

¹³ I did not experience rest in my spirit, because* I did not find Titus my brother, but saying farewell to them, I departed for Macedonia.

⁶ But God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus,

⁶ So we urged Titus that, just as he had previously begun it, thus he would also complete for you this act of grace.

¹⁶ But thanks be to God, who has put in the heart of Titus the same devotion _⌊on your behalf_⌋*,

² and all the brothers with me, to the churches of Galatia.

¹ Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking along Titus also. ² Now I went up there because of a revelation and laid out to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles, but in private to the influential people, lest somehow I was running, or had run, in vain. ³ But not even Titus who was with me, although* he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

²¹ For they all seek _⌊their own interests_⌋*, not those of Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ At my first defense, no one came to my aid, but they all deserted me; may it not be counted against them.

¹⁵ By* leaving the straight path, they have gone astray, because they* followed the way of Balaam the son of Bosor,* who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

¹⁵ Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him, ¹⁶ because everything that is in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the arrogance of material possessions—is not from the Father, but is from the world.

⁴ because everyone who is fathered by God conquers the world. ⁵ Now who is the one who conquers the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁴ I will heal their disloyalty;* I will love them freely because my anger has turned back from them.*

³⁰ But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

¹⁰ And when he had seen the vision, we wanted at once to go away to Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.

¹⁰ Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, greets you, and Mark, the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions—if he should come to you, welcome him),

¹⁴ Luke the physician, our dear friend, greets you, as does Demas.

¹⁶ For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus so that he would not be having to spend time in Asia.* For he was hurrying if it could be possible for him to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. ¹⁷ And from Miletus he sent word* to Ephesus and* summoned the elders of the church.

²⁵ "And now behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about proclaiming the kingdom, will see my face no more.

²¹ Now, so that you also may know _⌊my circumstances_⌋*, what I am doing, Tychicus, my dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things,

³ Just as I urged you when I* traveled to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus, so that you may instruct certain people not to teach other doctrine,

¹² When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make haste to come to me in Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.

⁸ So going through Mysia, they went down to Troas.

¹¹ So putting out to sea from Troas, we sailed a straight course to Samothrace, and on the following day to Neapolis,

⁵ And these had gone on ahead and* were waiting for us in Troas. ⁶ And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread and came to them at Troas within five days, where we stayed seven days. ⁷ And on the first day of the week, when* we had assembled to break bread, Paul began conversing* with them, because he* was going to leave on the next day, and he extended his* message until midnight. ⁸ Now there were quite a few lamps in the upstairs room where we were gathered. ⁹ And a certain young man _⌊named_⌋* Eutychus who was sitting in the window was sinking into a deep sleep while* Paul was conversing at length. Being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was picked up dead. ¹⁰ But Paul went down and* threw himself on him, and putting his arms around him,* said, "Do not be distressed, for his life is in him." ¹¹ So he went up and broke bread,* and when he* had eaten and talked for a long time, until dawn, then he departed. ¹² And they led the youth away alive, and _⌊were greatly_⌋* comforted.

¹¹ Until the present hour we are both hungry and thirsty and poorly clothed and roughly treated and homeless,

²⁷ with toil and hardship, often in sleepless nights, with hunger and thirst, often going hungry, in cold and poorly clothed.

¹² May Yahweh judge between me and you, and may Yahweh avenge me on you, but my hand will not be against you!

³⁹ I am weak today even though anointed king, and these men, the sons of Zeruiah, are crueler than I am. May Yahweh pay them back for doing wickedness according to their own wickedness."

⁴ Give to them according to their work, even according to the evil of their deeds. Give to them according to the work of their hands; repay them their rightful due.

¹² And to you belongs loyal love, O Lord, because you will render to each according to his work.

⁵ So they inflicted evil against me in return for good and hatred in return for my love. ⁶ Appoint over him a wicked man, and let an accuser stand at his right hand. ⁷ When he is judged, let him come out guilty, and let his prayer* become as sin. ⁸ Let his days be few; let another take his office. ⁹ Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow, ¹⁰ and let his children wander aimlessly and beg, and let them plead from their ruins. ¹¹ Let the creditor seize all that is his, and let strangers plunder his property. ¹² Let there be none who extend to him loyal love, nor any who pities his orphans. ¹³ Let his descendants* be cut off. Let their name be blotted out in the next generation. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his ancestors* be remembered before Yahweh, and let the sin of his mother not be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be before Yahweh continually, that he may cut off their* memory from the earth, ¹⁶ because he did not remember to show loyal love, but he pursued anyone,* poor or needy or brokenhearted, to slay them. ¹⁷ Because he loved cursing, let it come upon him. Because he did not delight in blessing, let it be far from him. ¹⁸ Because he wore a curse as his robe, let it enter _⌊his body_⌋* like water, and into his bones like oil. ¹⁹ May it be for him like a garment in which he wraps, and a belt _⌊he continually wears_⌋.* ²⁰ Let this be the punishment for my accusers from Yahweh, even those who speak evil against my life.

¹⁵ You who know, O Yahweh, remember me, and attend to me, and take revenge for me against my persecutors _⌊in your forbearance_⌋.* You must take me away. Know that I am carrying disgrace because of you.

¹⁹ Listen attentively to me, O Yahweh, and listen to the voice of my opponents. ²⁰ Should good be repaid in place of evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember my standing _⌊before you_⌋* to speak good for them, to avert your wrath from them. ²¹ _⌊Therefore_⌋* give their children to the famine, and hand them over to the _⌊power_⌋* of the sword, and let their wives be bereaved and widows, and let their men be killed by death, their young men struck dead by the sword in the battle. ²² Let a cry for help be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring upon them the raiding band, for they have dug a pit to catch me, and they have fixed secretly a trap for my feet. ²³ But you, O Yahweh, you know _⌊all their plans of assassination against me_⌋.* You must not make atonement for their iniquity, and you must not cause their sin to be blotted out from _⌊before you_⌋.* But let them be overthrown _⌊before you_⌋.* Deal with them in the time of your anger.

³³ And some of the crowd advised* Alexander, when* the Jews put him forward. But Alexander, motioning with his* hand, was wanting to defend himself to the popular assembly. ³⁴ But when they* recognized that he was a Jew, they were shouting with one voice from all of them for about two hours, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!"

¹⁹ Do not take revenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay,"* says the Lord.

⁶ since it is righteous in the sight of God to pay back those who are afflicting you with affliction,

²⁰ among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, in order that they may be taught not to blaspheme.

¹⁶ If anyone should see his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he should ask, and he will grant life to him, to those who sin not leading to death. (There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should ask about that.

¹⁰ and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "_⌊How long_⌋*, holy and true Lord, will you not judge and avenge our blood from those who live on the earth?"

⁶ Pay back to her as she herself also paid out, and _⌊pay back double_⌋* according to her deeds; in the cup that she mixed, mix double for her.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, heaven and the saints and the apostles and the prophets, because God has pronounced your judgment on her!"

¹⁶ "Behold, I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of people, because they will hand you over to councils, and they will flog you in their synagogues.

² Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the mutilation.*

⁸ And _⌊just as_⌋* Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these oppose the truth, people corrupted in mind, disqualified concerning the faith.

¹¹ Because of all my adversaries I have become a disgrace, especially to my neighbors, and a dread to my acquaintances. Those who see me in the street flee from me. ¹² I have become forgotten like one dead, out of _⌊mind_⌋.* I am like a destroyed vessel. ¹³ For I hear the rumor of many, "Terror on every side!" When conspiring together against me, they have plotted to take my life.

⁵⁰ And they all abandoned him and* fled.

³² Behold, an hour is coming—and has come—that you will be scattered each one to his own home,* and you will leave me alone. And I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

⁶⁰ And falling to his* knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them!" And after he* said this, he fell asleep.*

¹ "Men—brothers and fathers—listen to my defense to you now!"

¹⁶ To _⌊them_⌋* I replied that it was not the custom of the Romans to give up any man before the one who had been accused met his* accusers face to face and received an opportunity for a defense concerning the accusation.

³ My defense to those who examine me is this:

¹¹ For behold how much diligence this very thing, being grieved according to the will of God, has brought about in you: what defense of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! In everything you have demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

⁷ just as it is right for me to think this about all of you, because I have you in my heart, since* both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel all of you are sharers of grace with me.

¹⁷ The former proclaim Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, thinking to raise up affliction in my imprisonment.

¹⁰ For Demas deserted me, because he* loved the present age, and went to Thessalonica. Crescens went to Galatia; Titus went to Dalmatia.

¹⁵ but set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for an accounting concerning the hope that is in you.

³⁷ And David said, "Yahweh, who rescued me from the hand of the lion and from the hand of the bear, will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine!" Then Saul said to David, "Go and may Yahweh be with you!"

²¹ Save me from the mouth of the lion, and from the horns of the wild oxen answer me.

³⁹ And* the salvation of the righteous is from Yahweh, their refuge in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰ And Yahweh helps them and he rescues them. He rescues them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.

³¹ for he stands at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those judging his life.*

² Roaring like the lion is the dreaded anger of a king; he who provokes him forfeits his life.*

¹⁵ Like a roaring lion and a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

²⁰ And I will make you to this people a wall of fortified bronze, and they will fight against you, but they will not prevail over you, for I am with you, to save you, and to deliver you," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. ²¹ "And I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you from the hand of the tyrant."

¹⁰ For I hear the rumor of many, "Terror is from all around, denounce him,* yes, let us denounce him!" _⌊All my close friends_⌋* are watchers of my stumbling, saying, "perhaps he can be persuaded, and we can prevail over him, and we can take our revenge on him." ¹¹ But Yahweh is with me like a powerful warrior. _⌊Therefore_⌋* my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail. ¹² Now I want you to know, brothers, that _⌊my circumstances_⌋* have happened instead for the progress of the gospel, ¹³ so that my imprisonment in Christ has become known in the whole praetorium* and to all the rest, ¹⁴ and most of the brothers, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, dare even more to speak the word without fear.

¹¹ persecutions, and sufferings that happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, and in Lystra, what sort of persecutions I endured, and the Lord delivered me from all of them.

³³ who through faith conquered kingdoms, accomplished justice, obtained what was promised, shut the mouths of lions,

⁸ Be sober; be on the alert. Your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

⁹ then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to reserve the unrighteous to be punished at* the day of judgment,

¹⁶ The angel who redeemed me from all evil, may he bless the boys. And through them let my name be perpetuated,* and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac. And let them multiply into many in the midst of the earth.

³⁹ When David heard that Nabal had died, he said, "Blessed be Yahweh who has vindicated the case of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and he has kept back his servant from evil; but Yahweh has returned the evil of Nabal on his own head." Then David sent and spoke with Abigail to take her for his wife.

¹⁰ And Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would surely bless me and enlarge my border. And may your hand be with me, that you would keep me from evil so that it might not harm me!" And God granted what he asked.

²⁸ For Yahweh loves justice and will not forsake his faithful ones. They are protected forever. But the children of the wicked will be cut off.

²⁴ You will guide me with your advice, and afterward you will take me into honor.*

¹⁰ But you have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; you have anointed me* with fresh oil.

⁷ Yahweh will protect you from all evil;* he will protect your life.

¹³ And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.*

⁴³ Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.* The one who has ears, let him hear!

³⁴ Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world!

⁴ And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation."

³² "Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom.

²⁹ and I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred on me,

²⁸ And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish _⌊forever_⌋,* and no one will seize them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them* to me, is greater than all, and no one can seize them* from the Father's hand. ³⁰ The Father and I are one."
