And God saw that it was good. ²⁶ And God said, "Let us make humankind in* our image and according to* our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of heaven,* and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every moving thing that moves upon the earth." ²⁷ So* God created humankind in* his image, in* the likeness of God he created him,* male and female he created them. ²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of heaven,* and over every animal that moves upon the earth." ²⁹ And God said, "Look—I am giving to you every plant that bears seed which is on the face of the whole earth, and every kind of tree _⌊that bears fruit_⌋.* They shall be yours as food." ³⁰ And to every kind of animal of the earth and to every bird of heaven,* and to everything that moves upon the earth in which there is life I am giving every green plant as food." And it was so. ³¹ And God saw everything that he had made and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning, a sixth day.

¹¹ because in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and on the seventh day he rested. Therefore Yahweh blessed the seventh day and consecrated it.

¹⁸ And when he finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, he gave to Moses the two tablets of the testimony, stone tablets, written with the finger of God.

²⁶ For all the gods of the nations are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.

⁶ "You alone are Yahweh. You alone have made the heavens, the heavens of the heavens, and all of their army, the earth and all that is in it, the waters and all that is in them. You give life to all of them, and the army of the heavens worship you.

¹³ By his breath _⌊the heavens were made clear_⌋;* his hand pierced the fleeing snake.

⁴ "Where were you at my laying the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you possess understanding.

³ When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you set in place—

⁶ By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.

⁵ For all the gods of the peoples are idols,* but Yahweh made the heavens.

²⁴ How many are your works, O Yahweh; all of them you have done in wisdom. The earth is full of your creatures.

³⁰ You send forth your Spirit,* they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.

⁴ All Yahweh has made is for his* purpose, and even the wicked for the day of trouble.

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth— before the days of trouble come and the years draw near when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them!"

¹⁶ "Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel _⌊who is enthroned on_⌋* the cherubim, you are the one, God by yourself, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you are the one who made the heavens and the earth.

²⁶ Lift your eyes up on high, and see! Who created these? The one who brings out their host by number. He calls all them by name. Because he is great of power and mighty of power, no man is missing.

²⁸ Have you not known, or have you not heard? Yahweh is the God of eternity, the creator of the ends of the earth! He is not faint, and he does not grow weary! There is no searching his understanding.

⁵ Thus says the God, Yahweh, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people upon it and spirit to those who walk in it.

²⁴ Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, and he who formed you in* the womb: "I am Yahweh, who made everything, who stretched out the heavens alone, who spread out the earth—who was with me?—

¹⁸ For thus says Yahweh, _⌊who created_⌋* the heavens, he is God, _⌊who formed_⌋* the earth and _⌊who made_⌋* it. He himself established it; he did not create it as emptiness— he formed it for inhabiting.

¹³ And you have forgotten Yahweh, your maker, who stretched out the heavens, and founded the earth. And you tremble continually, all day, because of the wrath of the oppressor when he _⌊takes aim_⌋* to destroy. But* where is the wrath of the oppressor?

¹⁶ And I have put my words in your mouth, and I have covered you in the shadow of my hand, to plant the heavens and to found the earth, saying to Zion, 'You are my people.'"

³⁶ For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for eternity! Amen.

⁶ yet to us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we are for him, and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we are through him.

⁹ and to enlighten everyone as to what is the administration of the mystery hidden from the ages by God, who created all things,

¹⁶ because all things in the heavens and on the earth were created by him, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers, all things were created through him and for him, ¹⁷ and he himself is before all things, and in him all things are held together,

² in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the world,*

¹⁰ And,
"You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the works of your hands;

⁴ For every house is built by someone, but the one who built all things is God.

³ By faith we understand the worlds were created by the word of God, in order that what is seen did not come into existence from what is visible.

⁵ For when* they maintain this, it escapes their notice that the heavens existed long ago and the earth held together out of water and through water by the word of God,

¹ What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched, concerning the word of life—

¹⁴ "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
"This is what the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator* of God's creation, says:

¹¹ "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because you have created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created."

⁶ and swore by the one who lives _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, who created heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, "There will be no more delay!

⁷ saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship the one who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and the springs of water!"

⁶ And he said to me, "It is done! I am* the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water from the spring of the water of life freely.*

¹⁴ Look, these are the outer fringes of his ways, and _⌊how faint is the word_⌋* that we hear of him! But* who can understand the thunder of his power?"

¹² Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, comprehended the dust of the earth in a third of a measure and weighed out the mountains in the scales,* and the hills in a balance? ¹³ Who has measured up the spirit of Yahweh or informed him as _⌊his counselor_⌋*? ¹⁴ With whom has he consulted, that* he enlightened him* and taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and made the way of understanding known to him?

²³ I looked at the earth, and behold, it was wasteland and emptiness, and to the heavens, and they were without their light.

¹⁰ Emptiness and plundering and devastation! Their hearts faint and their knees tremble,* _⌊All their loins shake_⌋* and all their faces _⌊turn_⌋* pale.

³⁰ Look, he scatters his lightning around him, and he covers the roots of the sea.

¹⁹ "Where then* is the way where the light dwells? And where then* is its place,

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

² you who cover yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a tent curtain,

²⁷ Yahweh is God, and he has given us light.* Bind the festal sacrifice* with cords* to the horns* of the altar.

⁵ Let them praise the name of Yahweh, because he commanded and they were created.

⁷ I form light and I create darkness; I make peace and I create evil; I am Yahweh; I do all these things.

¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be your light by day, and for bright light the moon shall not give you light, but* Yahweh will be your everlasting light, and your God your glory.

³ And extending his hand he touched him, saying, "I am willing, be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

⁵ And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome* it.

⁹ The true light, who gives light to every person, was coming into the world.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment: that the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.

⁴³ And when he* had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!"

⁶ For God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness,"* is the one who has shined in our hearts for the enlightenment of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.*

⁸ for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live like children of light

¹⁴ for everything made visible is light. Therefore it says,
Wake up, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.*

¹⁶ the one who alone possesses immortality, who lives in unapproachable light, whom no human being has seen nor is able to see, to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.

⁵ And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light and there is no darkness in him at all.

⁸ Again, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you, because* the darkness is passing away and the true light already is shining.

¹⁰ And God called the dry ground "earth," and he called the collection of the waters "seas." And God saw that it was good.

The heavens are telling the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.

⁵ To him who made the heavens with skill,* for his loyal love endures forever. ⁶ To him who spread out the earth above the waters, for his loyal love endures forever.

⁴ Praise him, _⌊highest heavens_⌋,* and waters above the heavens.

¹ Praise Yah.* Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament.

³ When the clouds are full, they empty rain on the earth. Whether a tree falls to the south or whether it falls to the north, the place where the tree falls—there it will be.

¹⁰ But Yahweh is the true God, he is the living God, and _⌊an everlasting king_⌋.* Because of his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his anger.

¹² He is the maker of the earth by his power, who created the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding he stretched out heaven. ¹³ _⌊When he utters his voice_⌋* there is a noise of water in the heavens, and he causes the mist to rise from the ends* of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he causes the wind to go out from his storehouses.

⁹ And God said, "Let the waters under heaven* be gathered to one place, and let the dry ground appear." And it was so.

¹¹ And God said, "Let the earth produce green plants that will bear seed—fruit trees bearing fruit _⌊in which there is seed_⌋*—according to its* kind, on the earth." And it was so.

¹⁰ You are the one who sends forth springs into the valleys; they flow between the mountains.

²⁸ _⌊when he made_⌋* skies from above, when he founded fountains of the deep, ²⁹ _⌊when he assigned_⌋* his limits to the sea, that waters shall not transgress his _⌊command_⌋,* _⌊when he marked_⌋* the foundations of the earth,

²⁷ And the men were astonished, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?"

² Male and female he created them. And he blessed them. And he called their name "Humankind" when* they were created.

The earth is Yahweh's, with its fullness, the world and those who live in it, ² because he has founded it on the seas, and has established it on the rivers.

⁷ He gathered the waters of the sea like a heap. He put the deeps in storehouses.

⁵ to whom belongs the sea that he made, * and the dry land that his hands formed.

³ the one who sets beams in the waters for his upper chambers, who makes clouds his chariot, who rides* on the wings of the wind,

⁵ He established the earth on her foundations, so that it will not be moved forever and ever. ⁶ You covered it with the deep as with a garment. The waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they ran off. ⁸ They ascended the mountains and drained though the valleys to the place that you established* for them. ⁹ You set a boundary that they may not cross over, so that they would not return to cover the earth.

⁷ All the streams flow to the sea, but the sea is never full; to the place where the streams flow, there they continue to flow.

²² Do you not revere me?" _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "Do you not tremble _⌊before me_⌋?* For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, _⌊as an everlasting limit_⌋,* and it cannot pass over it, and they rise and fall loudly, but they cannot prevail, and its waves roar, but they cannot pass over it.

⁹ And he said to them, "I am a Hebrew, and I fear Yahweh, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land."

⁴ And God saw the light, that it was good, and God caused there to be a separation between the light and between the darkness.

⁴ The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are just; he is a faithful God, and _⌊without injustice_⌋;* righteous and upright is he.

³¹ May the glory of Yahweh endure forever. May Yahweh be glad in his works,

²⁹ And God said, "Look—I am giving to you every plant that bears seed which is on the face of the whole earth, and every kind of tree _⌊that bears fruit_⌋.* They shall be yours as food."

⁵ _⌊before any plant of the field was_⌋* on earth, and before _⌊any plant of the field_⌋* had sprung up, because Yahweh God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no human being to cultivate the ground,

⁹ And Yahweh God caused to grow every tree that was pleasing to the sight and good for food. And the tree of life was in the midst of the garden, _⌊along with_⌋* the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁶ And Yahweh God commanded the man,* saying, "From every tree of the garden _⌊you may freely eat_⌋,*

⁵ As for the earth, from it comes food,* but* underneath it, it is turned up as by fire.

³ And so, he is like a tree planted by streams of water that gives its fruit in its season; its leaf also does not wither. Therefore all that he does prospers.

⁹ You care for* the land* and water it; you greatly enrich it. The stream of God is filled with waters. You provide their grain, for so you have established it. ¹⁰ You drench its furrows, penetrating its ridges. With rains you soften it; its growth you bless. ¹¹ You crown the year with your _⌊bounty_⌋,* and your wagon paths drip with _⌊richness_⌋.* ¹² They drop on the pastures of the wilderness, and the hills gird themselves with joy. ¹³ The pasturelands put on flocks, and the valleys clothe themselves with grain. They shout in triumph; they even sing.

¹⁴ who causes grass to grow for the cattle and herbs for the service of humankind, to bring forth food from the earth, ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, so that their faces shine from oil, and bread that strengthens the heart of man. ¹⁶ The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted, ¹⁷ where birds make their nest. The stork has its home in the fir trees.

⁸ who covers the heavens with clouds, who provides rain for the earth, who causes grass to grow on the mountains.

⁸ For he will be like a tree planted by water, and to the stream it sends its roots, and it will not fear when heat comes, and its leaves* will be luxuriant, and in the year of drought it will not be anxious, and it will not cease from the bearing of fruit.

¹⁰ Already now the ax is positioned at the root of the trees; therefore every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

³⁰ But if God dresses the grass of the field in this way, although it* is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not do so much more for you, you of little faith?

¹⁶ You will recognize them by their fruits: they do not gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles, do they?* ¹⁷ In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree is not able to produce bad fruit, nor a bad tree to produce good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. ²⁰ As a result, you will recognize them by their fruits.

²⁸ By itself the soil produces a crop: first the grass, then the head of grain, then the full grain in the head.

⁴³ "For there is no good tree that produces bad fruit, nor on the other hand a bad tree that produces good fruit, ⁴⁴ for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn plants, nor are grapes harvested from thorn bushes.

⁷ For ground that drinks the rain that comes often upon it, and brings forth vegetation usable to those people _⌊for whose sake_⌋* it is also cultivated, shares a blessing from God.

¹² A fig tree is not able, my brothers, to produce olives, or a grapevine figs. Neither can a saltwater spring produce fresh water.

¹⁰ For just as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and they do not return there except they have watered the earth thoroughly and cause it to bring forth and sprout, and give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, ¹¹ so shall be my word that goes out from my mouth. It shall not return to me without success, but shall accomplish* what I desire and be successful in the thing for which I sent it.

¹¹ For as the earth _⌊produces_⌋* its sprout, and as a garden makes its plants sprout, so the Lord Yahweh will make righteousness sprout, and praise before all the nations.

²⁴ He put before them another parable, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. ²⁵ But while his* people were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed darnel* in the midst of the wheat and went away. ²⁶ So when the _⌊wheat_⌋* sprouted and yielded grain, then the darnel appeared also.

⁴⁴ for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn plants, nor are grapes harvested from thorn bushes.

¹⁰ Now the one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed, and will cause the harvest of your righteousness to grow,

⁷ Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked, for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap,

¹³ My bow I have set in the clouds, and it shall be for a sign of the covenant between me and between the earth.

¹⁹ _⌊And do this so that you do not lift_⌋* your eyes toward heaven and _⌊observe_⌋* the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of the heaven, and be led astray and bow down to them and serve them, things that Yahweh your God has allotted to all of the peoples under all of the heaven.

⁹ Let the stars of its dawn be dark; let it hope for light but* there be none, and let it not see the eyelids of dawn

³ Is there a number to his troops? And upon whom does his light not rise?

⁵ Look, even the moon _⌊is not bright_⌋,* and the stars are not pure in his sight.

¹² "Have you _⌊ever in your life_⌋* commanded the morning? Have you made the dawn know its place, ¹³ to take hold of the earth's skirts so that* the wicked might be shaken off from it? ¹⁴ It is changed like clay under a seal, and they appear like a garment.

³¹ "Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, or can you loosen the cords of Orion? ³² Can you lead forth the southern constellations at their appointed time, or* can you lead the Bear with its children?

³ When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you set in place— ⁴ what is a human being that you think of him? and a child of humankind that you care for him?

¹ For the music director. A psalm of David.*
The heavens are telling the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands. ² _⌊Every day_⌋* they pour forth speech, and _⌊every night_⌋* they tell knowledge. ³ There is no speech and there are no words; their sound is inaudible. ⁴ Yet in all the world their line* goes out, and their words to the end of the world. In them* he has pitched a tent for the sun, ⁵ and it is like a bridegroom who comes out of his bridal chamber. It is glad like a strong man to run its course. ⁶ Its rising is from one* end of the heavens and its circuit to the other end* of them; and nothing is hidden from its heat.

¹⁶ Yours is the day, yours is the night also. You established light and the sun. ¹⁷ You defined* all the boundaries of the earth; Summer and winter—you formed them.

³ Blow the horn at new moon, at full moon, for our feast day,

¹⁹ He made the moon for appointed times; the sun knows its time for setting. ²⁰ You make darkness, and it is night, when* all the animals of the forest creep about.

⁹¹ By your ordinances they stand today, for all are your servants.

⁷ To him who made the great lights, for his loyal love endures forever. ⁸ The sun to rule the day, for his loyal love endures forever. ⁹ The moon and stars to rule the night, for his loyal love endures forever.

³ Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all stars of light.

⁶ And he put them in place forever and ever, by a decree he gave that will not pass away.

² Thus says Yahweh:
"You must not learn the way of the nations, and you must not be dismayed by the signs of the heavens, for the nations are dismayed by them.

³⁵ Thus says Yahweh, who gives the sun for light by day, the regulations of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea and its waves roar—Yahweh of hosts is his name.

²⁵ Thus says Yahweh: 'If my covenant with day and with night, the regulations of heaven and earth, I had not established,

⁷ And I will cover you at* extinguishing your heavens, and I will make dark their stars, and I will cover the sun with the cloud, and the moon will not give its light. ⁸ All* sources of light in the heavens, I will make them dark over you, and I will put* darkness on your land,'"
_⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

¹ Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "The gate of the inner courtyard facing east must be shut on* the six of the days for work, but on the day of the Sabbath it must be opened and on the day of the new moon it must be opened.

⁶ And on the day of the new moon he will offer a bull, _⌊a calf_⌋* without defect and six male lambs and a ram; they must be without defect.

¹⁰ _⌊Before them_⌋* the earth quakes; the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon grow dark, and the stars _⌊have withheld_⌋* their splendor

³⁰ And I will _⌊set_⌋* wonders in the heavens, and on earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. ³¹ The sun will be changed to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of Yahweh.

¹⁵ The sun and the moon grow dark, and the stars _⌊have withheld_⌋* their splendor.

⁸ The one who made the Pleiades and Orion and who turns deep darkness into the morning and darkens day into night, the one who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth, Yahweh is his name!

⁹ And then in that day," _⌊declares_⌋* my Lord Yahweh, "I* will make the sun go down at noon and I will darken the land on a day of light.

² saying, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star at its rising* and have come to worship him."

² So he answered and* said to them, "When* evening comes you say, 'It will be fair weather because the sky is red,' ³ and early in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy weather, because the sky is red and* darkening.' You know how to evaluate correctly the appearance of the sky, but you are not able to evaluate* the signs of the times.

²⁹ "And immediately after the tribulation of those days,
'the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken.'*

²⁴ "But in those days, after that tribulation,
'the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light,

²⁵ "And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity from the noise of the sea and its surging, ²⁶ people fainting from fear and expectation of what is coming on the inhabited earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.*

⁴⁵ because* the light of the sun failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn apart down the middle.

¹⁹ And I will cause wonders in the heaven* above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke. ²⁰ The sun will be changed to darkness and the moon to blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

¹² And I watched when he opened the sixth seal, and a great earthquake took place, and the sun became black like sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood,

¹² And the fourth angel blew the trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened, and the day did not shine with respect to a third of it, and the night likewise.

² And he opened the shaft of the abyss, and smoke went up from the shaft like smoke from a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the shaft.

¹² Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh, on the day Yahweh gave the Amorites* over to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and he said in the sight of Israel,
"Sun in Gibeon, stand still, and moon, in the valley of Aijalon." ¹³ And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on its enemies.
Is it not written in the scroll of Jashar? The sun stood still in the middle of the heaven and was not in haste to set for about a full day. ¹⁴ There has not been a day like this before it or after, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.

²⁶ if I looked at the sun when it shone or* at the moon moving in splendor,

⁷ when the morning stars were singing together and all the sons of God* shouted for joy?

⁶ Its rising is from one* end of the heavens and its circuit to the other end* of them; and nothing is hidden from its heat.

¹⁰ For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not flash forth their light; the sun will keep back when it comes out, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.

²³ And the full moon will be ashamed and the sun will be ashamed, for Yahweh of hosts will rule on _⌊Mount Zion_⌋* and in Jerusalem, and before his elders in glory.

¹¹ Sun and moon stood still in their place; at the light of your arrows they moved about; at the gleam of the flashing of your spear.

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour, darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour.

⁴¹ There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars, for star differs from star in glory.

⁸ And the fourth poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was granted to it to burn up people with fire. ⁹ And people were burned up by the great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has the authority over these plagues, and they did not repent to give him glory.

²³ And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon, that they shine on it, for the glory of God illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth, who put your splendor above the heavens.

⁴⁷ For so the Lord has commanded us:
'I have appointed you _⌊to be_⌋* a light for the Gentiles, _⌊that you would bring_⌋* salvation to the end of the earth.'*

⁷ So* God made the vaulted dome,* and he caused a separation between the waters which were under the vaulted dome* and between the waters which were over the vaulted dome.* And it was so.

²² And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth."

³⁰ And to every kind of animal of the earth and to every bird of heaven,* and to everything that moves upon the earth in which there is life I am giving every green plant as food." And it was so.

¹⁹ And out of the ground Yahweh God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky,* and he brought each to the man* to see what he would call it. And whatever the man* called that living creature was its name.

¹⁷ Bring out with you all the living things which are with you, from all the living creatures—birds, and animals, and everything that creeps on the earth, and let them swarm on the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth."

³³ He spoke concerning the trees, from the cedar which is in Lebanon up to the hyssop which grows on the wall; he also spoke concerning the animals, concerning the birds, concerning the creeping things, and concerning the fish.

²⁴ How many are your works, O Yahweh; all of them you have done in wisdom. The earth is full of your creatures. ²⁵ This is the great and _⌊wide_⌋* sea, in which are moving animals without number, living things small and great.

¹⁰ beasts and all cattle,* creeping things and _⌊flying birds_⌋,*

²¹ For although a person may toil with great wisdom and skill, he must leave his reward to someone who has not toiled for it. This also is vanity and a great calamity.

²⁵ nor is he served by human hands as if he* needed anything, because* he himself gives to everyone life and breath and everything.

²⁰ From the birds according to their* kind, and from the animals according to their* kind, from every creeping thing on the ground according to its* kind—two from every kind shall come to you to keep them alive.

¹⁴ they and all the living creatures according to their* kind, and all the domesticated animals according to their* kind, and all the creatures that creep upon the earth according to their* kind, all the birds according to their* kind, every winged creature.

¹⁹ Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, and everything that moves upon the earth, according to its families, went out from the ark.

⁷ "And you, be fruitful and multiply, swarm on the earth and multiply in it."

⁷ And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* were fruitful and multiplied and were many and were very, very numerous, and the land was filled with them.

³ And the Nile will swarm with frogs, and they will go up and come into your house and into your _⌊bedroom_⌋* and onto your bed and into the house of your servants and among your people and into your ovens and into your kneading troughs.

¹² Am I the sea, or a sea monster, that you set a guard over me?

⁵ "The spirits of the dead tremble below the waters and their inhabitants.

²⁴ How many are your works, O Yahweh; all of them you have done in wisdom. The earth is full of your creatures. ²⁵ This is the great and _⌊wide_⌋* sea, in which are moving animals without number, living things small and great. ²⁶ There the ships sail. Leviathan is there that you formed to play with.*

² "Son of man,* raise a lament over Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and you must say to him,
'With a fierce, strong lion among nations you compared yourself, and you are like the sea monster in the seas, and you thrash about in your rivers, and you make water turbid with your feet, and you make your rivers muddy.

¹⁷ * And Yahweh provided a large fish to swallow up Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

¹⁰ And Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out on the dry land.

⁴⁰ For just as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of heaven,* and over every animal that moves upon the earth."

¹ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.

²⁷ But Laban said to him, "Please, if I have found favor in your eyes, I have learned by divination that Yahweh has blessed me because of you."

³⁰ For you had little before me, and it has increased abundantly. And Yahweh has blessed you _⌊wherever I turned_⌋.* So then, when shall I provide for my own family also?"

¹¹ And God said to him, "I am El-Shaddai.* Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and an assemblage of nations shall be from you, and kings shall go out from your loins.

⁹ And I will turn to you, and I will make you fruitful, and I will make you numerous; and I will keep my covenant with you.

¹⁵ "Look, Behemoth,* which I have made just as I made you; it eats grass like the ox.

¹² So* Yahweh blessed Job's latter days more than his beginning. _⌊Thus he had_⌋* fourteen thousand sheep and goats and six thousand camels and a thousand pair of oxen and a thousand female donkeys.

³¹ Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind,

³⁸ And he blesses them and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle become few.

³ Your wife will be like a fruitful vine _⌊within_⌋* your house. Your children* will be like olive shoots about your table.

¹³ that our granaries may be full, providing produce of all kinds,* that our sheep may produce by the thousands, by the tens of thousands in our open fields, ¹⁴ that our cattle may be pregnant; that there be no breach in our walls, and no going out in exile, and no outcry in our plazas.

²² The blessing of Yahweh makes one rich, and he does not increase sorrow with it.

³⁹ "Can you hunt prey for the lion? And can you satisfy the hunger of strong lions ⁴⁰ when they are crouched in the dens, when they lie in the thicket in an ambush?

¹ "Do you know the time when the goats of the rocks give birth? Do you observe the doe deer's giving birth?

⁵ "Who has sent forth the wild ass free? And who has released the wild donkey's bonds,

⁹ "Is the wild ox willing to serve you, or will he spend the night at your feeding trough?

¹⁹ "Do you give power to the horse? Do you clothe its neck with a mane?

⁹ I will not take from your house a bull or from your stalls a he-goat, ¹⁰ because every animal of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.

¹⁸ The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs are a refuge for the rock badgers.

²³ Humankind goes out to its work, and to its labor until evening.

¹⁹ And out of the ground Yahweh God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky,* and he brought each to the man* to see what he would call it. And whatever the man* called that living creature was its name. ²⁰ And the man* _⌊gave names_⌋* to every domesticated animal and to the birds of heaven* and to all the wild animals.* But for the man there was not found a helper _⌊as his counterpart_⌋.*

⁸ or ask the earth, and it will teach you, and the fishes of the sea will declare to you. ⁹ Who among all of these does not know that Yahweh's hand has done this? ¹⁰ In whose hand is the life of all living things and _⌊the breath of every human being_⌋?*

⁵ "I have made the earth with humankind and animals* that are on the face of the earth by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and I give it to whomever is right in my eyes.

²² And Yahweh God said, "Look—the man has become as one of us, to know good and evil. _⌊What if_⌋* he stretches out his hand and takes also from the tree of life and eats, and lives forever?"

¹ This is the record of the generations* of Adam. When* God created Adam,* he made him in the likeness of God.

² And fear of you and dread of you shall be upon every animal of the earth, and on every bird of heaven,* and on everything that moves upon the ground, and on all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they shall be given. ³ Every moving thing that lives shall be for you as food. As I gave the green plants to you, I have now given you everything. ⁴ Only you shall not eat _⌊raw flesh with blood in it_⌋.*

⁶ "As for the one shedding the blood of humankind, by humankind his blood shall be shed, for God made humankind in his own image.

⁷ Come, let us go down and confuse their language there, so that they will not understand _⌊each other's language_⌋."*

²³ For your covenant will be with the stones of the field, and the wild animals* of the field will be at peace with you.

¹⁰ But* no one says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,

⁴ what is a human being that you think of him? and a child of humankind that you care for him? ⁵ And you made him a little lower than heavenly beings,* and with glory and with majesty you crowned him. ⁶ You make him over the works of your hands; all things you have placed under his feet: ⁷ sheep and cattle, all of them, and also the wild animals of the field, ⁸ the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea, everything that passes along the paths of seas.

³ Know that Yahweh, he is God; he made us and we are his.* We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

²⁰ You make darkness, and it is night, when* all the animals of the forest creep about. ²¹ The young lions are roaring for the prey and seeking their food from God. ²² When the sun rises, they gather together and lie down in their dens. ²³ Humankind goes out to its work, and to its labor until evening. ²⁴ How many are your works, O Yahweh; all of them you have done in wisdom. The earth is full of your creatures.

² Let Israel be glad in its maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

²⁹ Look! This alone I found: God made mankind upright, but they have devised many schemes."

⁸ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said,
"I am here! Send me!"

⁸ Yet now Yahweh, you are our father; we are the clay and you are our _⌊potter_⌋,* and we all are the work of your hand.

⁶ And now I myself have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and also the animals* of the field I have given to him to serve him.

¹⁷ But he answered* them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working."

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and _⌊will take up residence with him_⌋.*

²⁰ For you are bringing some astonishing things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what _⌊these things mean_⌋."*

²⁶ And he made from one man every nation of humanity to live on all the face of the earth, determining their fixed times and the fixed boundaries of their habitation,

²⁸ for in him we live and move and exist,* as even some of _⌊your own_⌋* poets have said: 'For we also are _⌊his_⌋* offspring.'* ²⁹ Therefore, because we* are offspring of God, we ought not to think the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by human skill and thought.

⁷ For indeed a man ought not to cover his head, because he* is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of the man.

¹⁸ And we all, with unveiled face, reflecting* the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory into glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

⁴ among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they would not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

²⁴ and put on the new man (in accordance with God), who is created in righteousness and holiness from the truth.

¹⁵ who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all* creation,

¹⁰ and have put on the new man that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created him,

⁶ But someone testified somewhere, saying,
"What is man, that you remember him, or the son of man, that you care for him? ⁷ You made him for a short time lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor;* ⁸ you subjected all things under his feet.*
For in subjecting all things,* he left nothing that was not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him, ⁹ but we see Jesus, for a short time made lower than the angels, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that apart from God* he might taste death on behalf of everyone.

⁷ For every species of animals and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, is being tamed and has been tamed by the human species,

⁹ With it we bless the* Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.

⁷ For there are three that testify,*

¹⁸ Then* Yahweh God said, "it is not good that the man* is alone. I will make for him a helper _⌊as his counterpart_⌋."*

²¹ And Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man.* While* he slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up _⌊the flesh where it had been_⌋.* ²² And Yahweh God fashioned the rib which he had taken from the man* into a woman and brought her to the man.* ²³ And the man* said,
"_⌊She is now_⌋* bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh; _⌊she_⌋* shall be called 'Woman,' for _⌊she was taken_⌋* from man." ²⁴ Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cling to his wife, and they shall be as one flesh. ²⁵ And the man* and his wife, both of them, were naked, and they were not ashamed.

¹ This is the record of the generations* of Adam. When* God created Adam,* he made him in the likeness of God. ² Male and female he created them. And he blessed them. And he called their name "Humankind" when* they were created.

¹⁴ I praise you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.* Wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it well.

⁷ everyone who is called by my name, and whom I created for my glory, whom I formed, indeed whom I made."

¹⁵ _⌊Did not one God make them?_⌋* But a remnant of the spirit is his.* And what does the one God desire? An offspring of God.* _⌊You must be attentive to_⌋* your spirit, and you must not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.

⁴ And he answered and* said, "Have you not read that the one who created them* from the beginning made them male and female

⁶ But from the beginning of creation 'he made them male and female.*

⁷ For indeed a man ought not to cover his head, because he* is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of the man. ⁸ For man is not from woman, but woman from man. ⁹ For indeed man was not created for the sake of the woman, but woman for the sake of the man.

¹⁰ For we are his creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we may walk in them.

²⁶ the mystery which has been hidden from the ages and from the generations, but has now been revealed to his saints,

¹⁶ And I will bless her; moreover, I give to you from her a son. And I will bless her, and _⌊she shall give rise to nations_⌋.* Kings of peoples shall come* from her."

²⁰ And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I will bless him and I will make him fruitful, and I will multiply him _⌊exceedingly_⌋.* He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

¹⁷ that I will certainly bless you and greatly multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that is by the shore of the sea. And your offspring will take possession of the gate of his enemies. ¹⁸ All the nations of the earth will be blessed through your offspring, because you have listened to my voice."

⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, "You are our sister; may you become countless thousands; and may your offspring take possession of the gate of his enemies."

³ Dwell as an alien in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham you father. ⁴ And I will multiply your descendants like the stars of heaven, and I will give to your descendants all these lands. And all nations of the earth will be blessed through your offspring,

²⁴ And Yahweh appeared to him that night and said, "I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you, and I will bless you and make your descendants numerous for the sake of my servant Abraham."

⁵ Then Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children and said, "Who are these with you?" And he said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant."

²⁵ Because of the God of your father he will help you and by Shaddai* he will bless you with the blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that crouches beneath, blessings of the breasts and the womb.

¹⁰ And Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would surely bless me and enlarge my border. And may your hand be with me, that you would keep me from evil so that it might not harm me!" And God granted what he asked.

Unless Yahweh builds a house, its builders labor at it in vain. Unless Yahweh guards a city, a guard watches in vain. ² It is in vain for you who rise early and sit late, eating the bread of anxious toil, when thus he* provides* for his beloved in his sleep.* ³ Look, children* are the heritage* of Yahweh; the fruit of the womb is a reward. ⁴ Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children* of one's youth. ⁵ Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them.* They shall not be put to shame when they speak with enemies at the gate.

³ Your wife will be like a fruitful vine _⌊within_⌋* your house. Your children* will be like olive shoots about your table. ⁴ Look, for thus shall a man be blessed _⌊who fears Yahweh_⌋.*

³ who forbid marrying and insist on abstaining from foods that God created for sharing in with thankfulness by those who believe and who know the truth,

³ Every moving thing that lives shall be for you as food. As I gave the green plants to you, I have now given you everything.

³¹ Indeed, he judges people by them; he gives food _⌊in abundance_⌋.*

¹ A psalm of David.*
The earth is Yahweh's, with its fullness, the world and those who live in it,

¹⁴ who causes grass to grow for the cattle and herbs for the service of humankind, to bring forth food from the earth, ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, so that their faces shine from oil, and bread that strengthens the heart of man.

²⁷ They all wait for you to give them their food _⌊at the proper time_⌋.* ²⁸ You give to them; they gather it. You open your hand, they are filled with what is good.

⁵ He gives food to those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.

¹⁶ The heavens are Yahweh's heavens, but the earth he has given to the children of humankind.

²⁵ The one who gives food to all flesh, for his loyal love endures forever.

¹⁵ The eyes of all look hopefully to you, and you give them their food in due time, ¹⁶ opening your hand, and satisfying the desire of every living creature.

⁷ who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food for the hungry. Yahweh sets prisoners free;

⁹ He gives to the animal its food, and to the young ravens that cry.

¹⁶ That one will live on the heights; the fortresses of rocks will be his refuge. His food will be given; his waters* will endure.

⁸ But she did not know that it was I who gave her grain, new wine, and oil, and who gave her silver in abundance, and gold which they made into a Baal.

¹¹ Give us today our daily bread,

²⁵ "For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, what you will eat,* and not for your body, what you will wear. Is your life not more than food and your body more than clothing? ²⁶ Consider the birds of the sky, that they do not sow or reap or gather produce into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth more than they are?

¹⁷ And yet he did not leave himself without witness by* doing good, giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying you* with food and your hearts with gladness."

²⁴ the God who made the world and all the things in it. This one, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands, ²⁵ nor is he served by human hands as if he* needed anything, because* he himself gives to everyone life and breath and everything.

²⁸ for in him we live and move and exist,* as even some of _⌊your own_⌋* poets have said: 'For we also are _⌊his_⌋* offspring.'*

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this present age not to be proud and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in God, who provides us all things richly for enjoyment,

³⁹ "Can you hunt prey for the lion? And can you satisfy the hunger of strong lions ⁴⁰ when they are crouched in the dens, when they lie in the thicket in an ambush? ⁴¹ Who prepares for the crow its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and they wander around _⌊for lack of food_⌋?*

⁴ Their young ones grow strong; they grow up in the open; they go forth and do not return to them.

⁸ It explores the mountains as its pasture and searches after every kind of green plant.

³⁰ And its young ones lick blood greedily, and where the dead carcasses are, there they are."

²⁰ Yes, the mountains yield produce for it, and all _⌊wild animals_⌋* play there.

The heavens are telling the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands. ² _⌊Every day_⌋* they pour forth speech, and _⌊every night_⌋* they tell knowledge.

³⁸ Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that disaster and good will come?

⁴ because everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected if it is* received with thankfulness,
