¹² And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth.

⁴ The Nephilim were upon the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God went into the daughters of humankind, and they bore children to them. ⁵ And Yahweh saw that the evil of humankind was great upon the earth, and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was always* only evil.

⁸ But Noah found favor in the eyes of Yahweh.

¹ Then* Yahweh said to Noah, "Go—you and all your household—into the ark, for I have seen you are righteous before me in this generation.

²¹ And every living thing that moved on the earth perished—the birds, and the domesticated animals, and the wild animals, and everything that swarmed on the earth, and all humankind.

¹² And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant that I am making between me and you, and between every living creature that is with you for future generations.

¹⁶ The bow shall be in the clouds, and I will see it, so as to remember the everlasting covenant between God and between every living creature, with all flesh that is upon the earth." ¹⁷ And God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant which I am establishing between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

²¹ I will go down and I will see. Have they done altogether according to its cry of distress which has come to me? If not, I will know."

¹⁵ Will you keep to the way of old that the people of mischief have trod, ¹⁶ who were snatched away _⌊before their time_⌋,* whose foundation was washed away by a current? ¹⁷ Those who said to God, 'Turn away from us,' and 'What can Shaddai do to us?'

²⁷ "He will sing to men, and he will say, 'I have sinned and have perverted what is right, and it was not paid back to me.

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They do abominable deeds. There is none who does good. ² Yahweh looks down from heaven upon the children of humankind to see whether there is one who has insight, one who cares about God. ³ All have gone astray; they are altogether corrupt. There is not one who does good; there is not even one.

¹³ From heaven Yahweh looks; he sees all the children of humankind. ¹⁴ From his dwelling place* he gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth,

² God looks down from heaven upon the children of humankind to see whether there is one who has insight, one who seeks God. ³ _⌊All of them_⌋* have turned back. They are altogether corrupt. There is none who does good; there is not even one.

³ In every place, the eyes of Yahweh keep watch over the evil and the good.

⁶ and all flesh will see the salvation of God.'"*

¹⁹ in which also he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ who were formerly disobedient, when the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while* an ark was being constructed, in which a few—that is, eight souls—were rescued through water.
