⁵ And have you completely forgotten the exhortation which instructs you as sons?
"My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, or give up when you are corrected by him.

⁹ "However, _⌊take care_⌋* for yourself and watch your inner self* closely, so that you do not forget the things that your eyes have seen, so that they do not slip from your mind all the days of your life; and you shall make them known to your children and to _⌊your grandchildren_⌋.* ¹⁰ Remember the day that you stood _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God at Horeb _⌊when Yahweh said to me_⌋,* 'Summon for me the people so that I can tell them my words, that they may learn to fear me all of the days they are alive on the earth and so that they may teach their children.'

⁷ And Joshua said, "Ah, my Lord! Why did you bring this people across the Jordan to give us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content and stayed beyond the Jordan. ⁸ Please, my Lord! What can I say after _⌊Israel has fled from its enemies_⌋?* ⁹ The Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of this, and they will surround us and cut off our name from the land. What will you do, for your great name?" ¹⁰ And Yahweh said to Joshua, "Stand up! _⌊Why_⌋* have you fallen on your face? ¹¹ Israel has sinned and _⌊transgressed my covenant_⌋* that I commanded them. They have taken from the devoted things;* they have stolen and acted deceitfully, and they have put them among their belongings.

⁷ _⌊Then the anger of Yahweh was kindled_⌋* against Uzza, and God struck him down there because of the indiscretion,* and he died there beside the ark of God. ⁸ _⌊David was angry_⌋* because Yahweh had burst out against Uzza, and he called that place Perez-Uzza until this day. ⁹ But David feared Yahweh on that day and said, "How can the ark of Yahweh come to me?" ¹⁰ However, David was not willing to bring the ark of Yahweh to himself, to the city of David, so David caused it to turn to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

⁹ And when they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzza reached out his hand to hold the ark because the cattle had stumbled. ¹⁰ And Yahweh _⌊was angry_⌋* with Uzza, and he struck him down because he reached his hand upon the ark. And he died there before God. ¹¹ And David _⌊was angry_⌋* because Yahweh had broken out in wrath against Uzza. And that place is called Perez Uzza unto this day. ¹² And David feared God on that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God home to me?" ¹³ So David did not move the ark to himself into the city of David but diverted it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

¹² And he said to them, "You are the heads of the _⌊families_⌋* for the Levites. Sanctify yourselves and your brothers and bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, to the place I have established for it. ¹³ Because the first time you did not, and Yahweh our God burst out against us, for we did not care for it according to the law."

¹⁷ "Look, happy is the human being whom God reproves; and you must not despise the discipline of Shaddai, ¹⁸ for he himself* wounds, but* he binds up; he strikes, but* his hands heal.

³¹ "Indeed, does anyone say to God, 'I have endured chastisement; I will not act corruptly again;

O Yahweh, do not rebuke me in your anger, and do not discipline me in your wrath. ² Be gracious to me, O Yahweh, because I am feeble. Heal me, O Yahweh, for my bones are terrified.

¹² Blessed is the man, O Yah, whom you instruct and teach from your law,

¹⁸ Yah has disciplined me severely, but he did not consign* me to death.

¹⁶ I will take delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.

⁷⁵ I know, O Yahweh, that your judgments are right, and that in faithfulness you afflicted me.

⁸³ For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, yet I have not forgotten your statutes.

¹⁰⁹ My life is _⌊in danger_⌋* continually, yet I do not forget your law.

¹ My child, do not forget my instruction, and may your heart guard my commands.

¹¹ Do not despise the discipline of Yahweh, my child. Do not be weary of his reproof ¹² because whomever Yahweh will love, he will rebuke, as a father delights in his son.

⁵ Get wisdom and insight; do not forget and do not turn from the sayings of my mouth.

¹⁸ Indeed I heard Ephraim pitying themselves, 'You disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like a calf that is not trained. Bring me back and let me return, for you are Yahweh my God.

⁹ Do you not yet understand or do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹⁰ Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many baskets you took up?

⁶ He is not here, but has been raised! Remember how he spoke to you while he* was still in Galilee,

⁸ And they remembered his words,

³² But if we* are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined, in order that we will not be condemned with the world.

⁸ We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; ⁹ persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed;

⁹ And he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, because the* power is perfected in weakness." Therefore rather I will boast most gladly in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may reside in me. ¹⁰ Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in calamities, in persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

³ For consider the one who endured such hostility by sinners against himself,* so that you will not grow weary in your souls and give up. ⁴ You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your* blood as you* struggle against sin.

⁷ Endure it for discipline. God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline?

¹² Blessed is the person* who endures testing, because when he* is approved he will receive the crown of life that he* has promised to those who love him.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I reprove and discipline. Be zealous, therefore, and repent!
