¹ Thus says Yahweh:
"Heaven is my throne, and the earth is the footstool for my feet. Where is this house that you would build for me? And where is this resting place for me? ² And my hand has made all these things, and all these _⌊came to be_⌋,"*
_⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "but* I look to this one:
to the humble and the contrite of spirit and the one frightened at my word. ³ The one who slaughters a bull strikes a man; the one who slaughters a lamb for sacrifice breaks the neck of a dog. The one who offers an offering, the blood of swine; the one who offers frankincense blesses an idol. Indeed, they themselves have chosen their ways, and their soul delights in their abhorrence. ⁴ Indeed, I myself I will choose their ill treatment, and I will bring them objects of their dread, because I called, and _⌊no one answered_⌋;* I spoke and they did not listen, but* they did the evil in my eyes, and they chose that in which I do not delight." ⁵ Hear the word of Yahweh, you who are frightened at his word:
Your brothers who hate you, who exclude you for my name's sake have said, "Let Yahweh be honored so that* we may see your joy!" But* they themselves shall be ashamed. ⁶ A voice, an uproar from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of Yahweh _⌊paying back_⌋* his enemies! ⁷ Before she was in labor she gave birth; before labor pains* came to her, she gave birth to a son. ⁸ Who has heard anything like this? Who has seen anything like these things? Can a land be born in one day? Or can a nation be born in a moment?
Yet when she was in labor, Zion indeed gave birth to her children. ⁹ Shall I myself I break open and not _⌊deliver_⌋?"* says Yahweh, "or I who _⌊delivers_⌋* lock up the womb?" says your God. ¹⁰ "Rejoice with Jerusalem and shout in exultation with her, all those who love her! Rejoice with her in joy, all those who mourn over her, ¹¹ so that you may suck and be satisfied from her _⌊consoling breast_⌋,* so that you may drink deeply and refresh yourselves from her _⌊heavy breast_⌋."* ¹² For thus says Yahweh:
"Look! I am about to spread prosperity out to her like a river, and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream, and you shall suck and be carried on the hip; and you shall you shall be played with on the knees. ¹³ As a man whose mother comforts him, so I myself will comfort you, and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And you shall see and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall _⌊flourish_⌋* like the grass, and the hand of Yahweh shall make itself known _⌊to_⌋* his servants, and he shall curse his enemies. ¹⁵ For look! Yahweh will come in fire, and his chariots like the storm wind, to _⌊give back_⌋* his anger in wrath, and his rebuke in flames of fire. ¹⁶ For Yahweh enters into judgment on all flesh with fire and his sword, and _⌊those slain by_⌋* Yahweh shall be many. ¹⁷ Those who sanctify themselves and those who cleanse themselves _⌊to go into_⌋* the gardens after the one in the middle, eating the flesh of swine and detestable things* and rodents* together
shall come to an end!" _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. ¹⁸ "And I—their works and thoughts!—am about to come to gather all nations and tongues, and they shall come and see my glory. ¹⁹ And I will set a sign among them, and I will send survivors from them to the nations: Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow; Tubal and Javan, the faraway coastlands that have not heard of my fame, and have not seen my glory.
And they shall declare my glory among the nations, ²⁰ and bring all your countrymen* from all the nations as an offering to Yahweh on horses and chariots* and in litters and on mules and camels, to* _⌊my holy mountain_⌋,* Jerusalem," says Yahweh, "just as the sons of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of Yahweh. ²¹ And indeed, I will take some of them as priests and the Levites," says Yahweh. ²² "For just as the new heavens and earth that I am about to make shall stand before me," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "so shall your descendants* and your name stand. ²³ And this shall happen: From _⌊new moon to new moon_⌋* and from _⌊Sabbath to Sabbath_⌋* all flesh shall come to bow in worship before me," says Yahweh. ²⁴ "And they shall go out and look at the corpses of the people* _⌊who have rebelled_⌋* against me,
for their worm shall not die, and their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh."

⁵ "Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says Yahweh: "Are you the one to build for me a house for my dwelling? ⁶ For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought up the _⌊Israelites_⌋* from Egypt until this day; rather, I was going about in a tent and in a tabernacle. ⁷ In all of my going about among all the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* did I speak a word with one of the tribes of Israel whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, saying, 'Why did you not build me a cedar house?'" '

²⁷ For will God really dwell on the earth? Behold, the heavens and the heaven of heavens could not contain you! _⌊How could_⌋* this house that I have built?

² And King David rose to his feet and said, "Listen to me, my brothers and my people. _⌊I myself wanted_⌋* to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Yahweh and the footstool of our God, and I prepared to build.

¹⁸ "But will God indeed dwell with humankind upon the earth? Look, the heavens and _⌊the highest heavens_⌋* cannot contain you! Surely then this house that I have built will not contain you!

⁴ Yahweh is in his holy temple; Yahweh is in the heavens on his throne. His eyelids see; they test the children of humankind.

⁹ Exalt Yahweh our God, and worship at his holy mountain, for Yahweh our God is holy.

⁷ Let us go to his dwelling places;* Let us worship at his footstool.

⁴ Do not trust in _⌊the deceitful words_⌋,* _⌊saying_⌋,* 'The temple of Yahweh, the temple of Yahweh, they are the temple of Yahweh.' ⁵ For if you truly make your ways and your deeds good, if you truly do justice between a man and his neighbor, ⁶ you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, you do not shed innocent blood in this place, and you do not go after other gods _⌊to your harm_⌋,* ⁷ then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your ancestors* _⌊forever and ever_⌋.* ⁸ Look, you are relying for yourselves on _⌊deceitful words_⌋* without benefiting. ⁹ Will you steal? Will you murder? And will you commit adultery? And will you swear _⌊falsely_⌋?* And will you make a smoke offering to the Baal? And will you go after other gods whom you have not known? ¹⁰ And then you come and you stand _⌊before_⌋* me in this house, which is called _⌊by my name_⌋,* and you say, 'we are safe _⌊to go on doing_⌋* all of these detestable things.' ¹¹ Has this house, which is called _⌊by my name_⌋,* become a cave of robbers in your eyes? Look, I, even I, have seen it," * _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

¹¹ From the rising of the sun to its setting, my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is being presented to my name, and a pure offering. For my name is great among the nations," says Yahweh of hosts.

³⁴ But I say to you, do not swear at all, either by heaven, because it is the throne of God, ³⁵ or by the earth, because it is the footstool of his feet, or by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great king.

²¹ And the one who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it. ²² And the one who swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by the one who sits on it.

² But he answered and* said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone will be left here on another stone that will not be thrown down!"

²⁰ Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you people* say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship." ²¹ Jesus said to her, "Believe me, woman, that an hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

⁴⁸ But the Most High does not live in houses* made by human hands, just as the prophet says, ⁴⁹ 'Heaven is my throne and earth is the footstool for my feet. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is the place of my rest? ⁵⁰ Did not my hand make all these things?'*

²⁴ the God who made the world and all the things in it. This one, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands,

¹ In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth— ² Now* the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. ³ And God said, "Let there be light!" And there was light. ⁴ And God saw the light, that it was good, and God caused there to be a separation between the light and between the darkness. ⁵ And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. ⁶ And God said, "Let there be a vaulted dome* in the midst of the waters, and _⌊let it cause a separation between the waters_⌋."* ⁷ So* God made the vaulted dome,* and he caused a separation between the waters which were under the vaulted dome* and between the waters which were over the vaulted dome.* And it was so. ⁸ And God called the vaulted dome* "heaven."* And there was evening, and there was morning, a second day. ⁹ And God said, "Let the waters under heaven* be gathered to one place, and let the dry ground appear." And it was so. ¹⁰ And God called the dry ground "earth," and he called the collection of the waters "seas." And God saw that it was good. ¹¹ And God said, "Let the earth produce green plants that will bear seed—fruit trees bearing fruit _⌊in which there is seed_⌋*—according to its* kind, on the earth." And it was so. ¹² And the earth brought forth green plants bearing seed according to its* kind, and trees bearing fruit _⌊in which there was seed_⌋* according to its* kind. And God saw that it was good. ¹³ And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. ¹⁴ And God said, "Let there be lights* in the vaulted dome* of heaven* _⌊to separate day from night_⌋,* and let them be as signs and for appointed times, and for days and years, ¹⁵ and they shall be as lights* in the vaulted dome* of heaven* to give light on the earth." And it was so. ¹⁶ And God made two lights,* the greater light* to rule* the day and the smaller light* to rule* the night, and the stars. ¹⁷ And God placed them in the vaulted dome* of heaven* to give light on the earth ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night, and to _⌊separate light from darkness_⌋.* And God saw that it was good. ¹⁹ And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. ²⁰ And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly over the earth across the face of the vaulted dome* of heaven.* ²¹ So* God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kind, and every bird with wings according to its* kind. And God saw that it was good. ²² And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth." ²³ And there was evening, and there was morning, a fifth day. ²⁴ And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kind: cattle and moving things, and wild animals* according to their kind." And it was so. ²⁵ So* God made wild animals* according to their kind and the cattle according to their kind, and every creeping thing of the earth according to its* kind. And God saw that it was good. ²⁶ And God said, "Let us make humankind in* our image and according to* our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of heaven,* and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every moving thing that moves upon the earth." ²⁷ So* God created humankind in* his image, in* the likeness of God he created him,* male and female he created them. ²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of heaven,* and over every animal that moves upon the earth." ²⁹ And God said, "Look—I am giving to you every plant that bears seed which is on the face of the whole earth, and every kind of tree _⌊that bears fruit_⌋.* They shall be yours as food." ³⁰ And to every kind of animal of the earth and to every bird of heaven,* and to everything that moves upon the earth in which there is life I am giving every green plant as food." And it was so. ³¹ And God saw everything that he had made and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning, a sixth day.

¹⁹ because you have a responsive heart, and you humbled yourself before Yahweh when you heard how I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants to become a desolation and a curse, and you have torn your clothes and wept before my face, I have also heard, declares Yahweh. ²⁰ Therefore look, I am gathering you to your ancestors,* and you shall be gathered to your tombs in peace. Your eyes will not see all of the disaster that I am bringing onto this place.'" '" Then they _⌊reported the word_⌋* to the king.

²⁷ because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and against its inhabitants and you humbled yourself before me and tore your garments and wept before me, now I also have heard,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. ²⁸ 'Behold, I will gather you to your ancestors,* and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see any of the disaster that I am bringing upon this place.'" '"

⁴ Then all who trembled at the words of the God of Israel because of the sin of the returned exiles were gathered around me and I sat appalled until the evening offering.

³ So now let us make a covenant with our God to send away all of these women and their offspring, according to the advice of my lord and those who tremble at the commandment of our God. Let it be done according to the law.

¹⁸ Yahweh is near to those who are heartbroken and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments.

¹⁶¹ Princes persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles because of your word.*

⁶ Though Yahweh is high, yet he sees the lowly, but the proud he perceives* at a distance.

¹⁴ Happy is the person who fears continuously, but he who is stubborn of heart,* will fall into calamity.

²⁶ Lift your eyes up on high, and see! Who created these? The one who brings out their host by number. He calls all them by name. Because he is great of power and mighty of power, no man is missing.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy:
"I reside in a high and holy place, and with the _⌊contrite_⌋* and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the _⌊contrite_⌋.*

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me, he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up _⌊the brokenhearted_⌋,* to _⌊proclaim_⌋* release to the captives and liberation to those who are bound,

⁵ Hear the word of Yahweh, you who are frightened at his word:
Your brothers who hate you, who exclude you for my name's sake have said, "Let Yahweh be honored so that* we may see your joy!" But* they themselves shall be ashamed.

¹⁹ For after my turning back I repented, and after coming to understand I struck my thigh. I was ashamed and also humiliated, because I bore the disgrace of my youth.' ²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son, or the child of my delight? For _⌊as often as_⌋* I have earnestly spoken against him, I still remember him. _⌊Therefore_⌋* my bowels are turbulent for him, surely I will have compassion on him," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and you must place a mark on the foreheads of the men _⌊who are groaning and lamenting_⌋* about all of the detestable things _⌊that are being done_⌋* in the midst of her." ⁵ And to the others he said in my hearing, "Go through the city behind him and kill! Your eyes shall not take pity, and you shall not have compassion. ⁶ You must kill _⌊totally_⌋* old man, young man and young woman, and little children and women, but _⌊concerning_⌋* every man _⌊with the mark on him_⌋* you must not approach; and from my sanctuary you must begin." And they began with the old men who _⌊were before_⌋* the house.*

¹⁶ I hear and my stomach shakes; my lips quiver at the sound; infection enters my bones; that which is beneath me trembles; I wait quietly for the day of trouble to come upon the people attacking us.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Blessed are the ones who mourn, because they will be comforted.

¹³ But the tax collector, standing far away, did not want even to raise his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than that one! For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted."

⁶ But get up and enter into the city, and it will be told to you _⌊what you must do_⌋."*

²⁹ And demanding lights, he rushed in and, _⌊beginning to tremble_⌋,* fell down at the feet of Paul and Silas. ³⁰ And he brought them outside and* said, "Sirs, what must I do so that I can be saved?"

¹² Therefore my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

¹⁷ and he himself is before all things, and in him all things are held together,

² in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the world,* ³ who is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, sustaining all things by the word of power.* When he* had made purification for sins through him, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

² And he shall bring it to the sons of Aaron, the priests, and he* shall take _⌊his handful from its finely milled flour_⌋* and from its oil in addition to all its frankincense. The priest* shall turn its token portion into smoke on the altar as an offering made by fire, as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh.

⁸ And also the pig _⌊because it has a division of the hoof_⌋* _⌊but does not chew the cud_⌋;* it is unclean for you; from their meat you shall not eat, and you shall not touch their _⌊carcasses_⌋.*

¹⁸ You may not bring the _⌊hire_⌋* of a prostitute or _⌊the earnings of a male prostitute_⌋* into the house of Yahweh your God, for any vow offerings, because _⌊both_⌋* are a detestable thing to Yahweh your God.

⁸ God chose new leaders,* then war was at the gates; a small shield or a spear was not seen among forty thousand in Israel.

¹⁴ Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your trouble."

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination of Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more when he brings it in divisiveness!

¹¹ What is the abundance of your sacrifices to me? says Yahweh. I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened animals and I do not delight in the blood of bulls and ram-lambs and goats. ¹² When you come to appear before me, who asked for this from your hand: you trampling my courts? ¹³ You must not _⌊continue_⌋* to bring offerings* of futility, incense—it is an abomination to me; new moon and Sabbath, the calling of a convocation— I cannot endure iniquity with solemn assembly. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed festivals my soul hates; they have become to me like a burden, I am not able to bear them. ¹⁵ And when you stretch out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers,* I will not be listening. Your hands are full of blood.

¹⁷ I was angry because of his sin of gain, and I struck him; I hid and I was angry, but* he walked apostate, in the ways* of his heart.

³ the people _⌊who provoke_⌋* me to anger continually to my face, slaughtering for sacrifices in the garden, and making smoke offerings on bricks, ⁴ _⌊who sit_⌋* in graves and spend the night in _⌊secret places_⌋,* _⌊who eat_⌋* the flesh of swine with* a fragment* of impurity in their vessels,

¹² and I will remit you to the sword, and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter, because I called, but* you did not answer; I spoke, but* you did not listen, but* you did the evil in my eyes, and you chose that in which I do not delight."

¹⁷ Those who sanctify themselves and those who cleanse themselves _⌊to go into_⌋* the gardens after the one in the middle, eating the flesh of swine and detestable things* and rodents* together
shall come to an end!" _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

²¹ "I hate, I despise your festivals, and I take no delight in your assemblies. ²² Yes, even if you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them, and I will not look at the fellowship offerings of your fattened animals.

¹⁹ And he* said, "Therefore, hear the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne with all the hosts of heaven standing beside him from his right hand and from his left hand. ²⁰ And Yahweh said, 'Who will entice Ahab so that he will go up and fall at Ramoth-Gilead?' Then _⌊this one was saying one thing and the other one was saying another_⌋.* ²¹ Then a spirit came out and stood before Yahweh and said, 'I will entice him,' and Yahweh said to him, 'How?' ²² He said, 'I will go out and I will be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And he* said, 'You shall entice and succeed, go out and do so.' ²³ So then, see that Yahweh has placed a false spirit in the mouth of all of these your prophets, and Yahweh has spoken disaster concerning you."

² He did evil in the eyes of Yahweh, according to the detestable things of the nations that Yahweh had driven out from the presence of the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

⁶ He made his son pass through the fire, practiced soothsaying and divination, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He increased the doing of evil in the eyes of Yahweh to provoke him.

¹² So I let them* go in the stubbornness of their heart; they walked in their counsels.

²⁴ Because I called out and you refused me, I stretched out my hand, yet there is none who heeds.

³¹ They shall eat from the fruit of their way, and they shall be sated from their own schemes, ³² for the waywardness of the simple ones will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.

²⁴ The dread of the wicked will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

² Why was there no man when I came, no one who answered when I called? _⌊Do I lack the strength to save_⌋?* Or is there no power in me to deliver? Look! by my rebuke I dry up the sea; I _⌊make_⌋* the rivers a desert; their fish stink because there is no water, and they* die because of thirst.

³ the people _⌊who provoke_⌋* me to anger continually to my face, slaughtering for sacrifices in the garden, and making smoke offerings on bricks,

¹³ And now, because of your doing all these things," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "and _⌊I have spoken to you over and over again_⌋,* and you have not listened, and I called you, and you have not answered,

² "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man—a king—who gave a wedding celebration for his son. ³ And he sent his slaves to summon those who had been invited to the wedding celebration, and they did not want to come. ⁴ Again he sent other slaves, saying, 'Tell those who have been invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding celebration!" ' ⁵ But they paid no attention and* went away—this one to his own field, that one to his business. ⁶ And the others, seizing his slaves, mistreated them* and killed them.* ⁷ And the king was angry and sent his troops and* destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

²⁴ For false messiahs and false prophets will appear, and will produce great signs and wonders in order to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

¹⁰ and with every unrighteous deception against those who are perishing, in place of which they did not accept the love of the truth, so that they would be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God sends them _⌊a powerful delusion_⌋* so that they will believe the lie, ¹² in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

²⁰ And those who repay evil in return for good accuse me in return for my pursuing good.

¹³ He who despises a word will bring destruction on himself, but he who respects a commandment will be rewarded.

⁶ Do not gaze at me because I am black, * because the sun has stared at me. The sons of my mother were angry with me; they made me keeper of the vineyards, but my own "vineyard"* I did not keep.

¹⁹ those who say, "Let him make haste; let him hurry his work so that we may see it and let it draw near and let the plan of the holy one of Israel come so that we may know it!"

¹⁵ Instead of you being forsaken and hated _⌊with no one passing through,_⌋* I will _⌊make_⌋* you an everlasting _⌊object of pride_⌋,* a joy of _⌊coming generations_⌋.*

² And my hand has made all these things, and all these _⌊came to be_⌋,"*
_⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "but* I look to this one:
to the humble and the contrite of spirit and the one frightened at my word.

¹⁶ _⌊And then_⌋,* the moment of their hearing all the words, _⌊they turned to one another in alarm_⌋* and they said to Baruch, "We must certainly report all these words to the king!"

²³ _⌊And then_⌋,* as Jehudi read three or four columns, he would cut it up in pieces with the knife of the scribe, and he would throw it* into the fire that was in the fire-pot until the whole of the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire-pot. ²⁴ And the king and any of his servants who heard all these words were not startled, and they did not tear their garments. ²⁵ And even when Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.

¹⁰ Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you, lying on account of me. ¹² Rejoice and be glad, because your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.

²² and you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end—this one will be saved.

²² Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. ²³ Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For their fathers used to do the same things to the prophets.

¹⁷ And when* he said these things, all those who opposed him were humiliated, and the whole crowd was rejoicing at all the splendid things that were being done by him.

³⁴ They answered and said to him, "You were born completely in sin, and are you attempting to teach* us?" And they threw him out.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated* you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you: 'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

² _⌊They will expel you from the synagogue_⌋,* but an hour is coming that everyone who kills you will think they are offering service to God.

³³ Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he has poured out this that you see and hear.* ³⁴ For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says,
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, ³⁵ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." '* ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt, that God has made him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified!" ³⁷ Now when they* heard this,* they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "What should we do, men and brothers?" ³⁸ And Peter said* to them, "Repent and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all those who are far away, as many as the Lord our God calls to himself." ⁴⁰ And with many other words he solemnly urged and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this crooked generation!" ⁴¹ So those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand souls were added. ⁴² And they were devoting themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers. ⁴³ And fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were being performed by the apostles. ⁴⁴ And all who believed were in the same place, and had everything in common. ⁴⁵ And they began selling* their* possessions and property, and distributing these things to all, to the degree that anyone had need. ⁴⁶ And every day, devoting themselves to meeting* with one purpose in the temple courts* and breaking bread from house to house, they were eating their food with joy and simplicity of heart, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding every day to the total of those who were being saved.

⁹ Indeed, I myself thought it was necessary to do many things opposed to the name of Jesus the Nazarene, ¹⁰ which I also did in Jerusalem, and not only did I lock up many of the saints in prison, having received authority from the chief priests, but also when* they were being executed, I cast my vote* against them.*

¹⁵ who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and who persecuted us, and who are not pleasing to God and are opposed to all people, ¹⁶ hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles in order that they may be saved, so that they always fill up their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the end.*

⁶ since it is righteous in the sight of God to pay back those who are afflicting you with affliction, ⁷ and to you who are being afflicted, rest with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels, ⁸ with burning flame* giving punishment to those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, ⁹ who will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength, ¹⁰ whenever he should come to be glorified on that day by his saints and to be marveled at by all who believe, because our testimony was believed among you,

¹³ looking forward to the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

²⁸ thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

¹² Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, when it* takes place to test you, as if something strange were happening to you. ¹³ But to the degree that you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that also at the revelation of his glory you may rejoice and be glad. ¹⁴ If you are reviled on account of the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

¹³ Do not marvel,* brothers, if the world hates you.

⁸ For _⌊Yahweh has a day of vengeance_⌋,* a year of retribution for the strife of Zion.

¹⁸ According to deeds, so he will repay; wrath to his enemies, requital to those who are his _⌊enemies_⌋.* He will repay requital to the coastlands.

⁵ _⌊who say_⌋,* "_⌊Keep to yourself_⌋!* You must not come near me, for I am too holy for you!" These are a smoke in my _⌊nostrils_⌋,* a fire burning all day. ⁶ Look! It is written before me: I will not be silent, but I will repay; and I will repay in* the fold of their garment ⁷ your iniquities and the iniquities of your ancestors* together, says Yahweh, because they made smoke offerings on the mountains and they taunted me on the hills, I will measure their punishment from the beginning into the fold of their garment."

⁷ Look! I am rousing them from the place where you have sold them, and I will return what you deserve on your head! ⁸ I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans and to a nation far away, for Yahweh has spoken. ⁹ Proclaim this among the nations: _⌊Prepare for war_⌋!* Stir up the mighty warriors; let them approach and come up; let all the men of war approach. ¹⁰ Beat your cutting tools of iron into swords and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weakling say, 'I am a mighty warrior!' ¹¹ Hurry and come, all the nations, from all around, and gather yourselves there. Bring down your mighty warriors, O Yahweh! ¹² Let the nations be roused and let them come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations from all around. ¹³ Send forth the sickle, for the harvest is ripe! Go tread, for the winepress is full! The vats overflow, because their evil is great! ¹⁴ Commotion, commotion in the valley of decision! For the day of Yahweh is near in the valley of decision! ¹⁵ The sun and the moon grow dark, and the stars _⌊have withheld_⌋* their splendor. ¹⁶ And Yahweh roars from Zion; from Jerusalem he utters his voice, and the heavens and the earth shake. But Yahweh is a refuge for his people, and a protection for the children of Israel.

² And he said, "Yahweh roars from Zion and he utters his voice from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds wither and the top of Carmel dries up."

¹ "Sing for joy, barren woman; who has not borne! Burst forth into rejoicing and rejoice, she who has not been in labor! For the children of the desolate woman are more than the children of the married woman," says Yahweh.

²⁶ But the Jerusalem above is free, which is our mother.

¹ And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun and with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars, ² and _⌊who was pregnant_⌋* and was crying out because she* was having birth pains, and was in torment to give birth. ³ And another sign appeared in heaven, and behold, a great fiery red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven royal headbands.* ⁴ And his tail swept away a third of the stars from heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, in order that whenever she gave birth to her child he could devour it. ⁵ And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is going to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod,* and her child was snatched away to God and to his throne.

²⁰ Yet the children _⌊born when you were bereaved_⌋* will say in your _⌊hearing_⌋,*
"The place is too cramped for me; _⌊make room_⌋* for me so that I can dwell." ²¹ Then* you will say in your heart,
"Who has borne me these?" And, "I was bereaved and barren, exiled and thrust away; so* who raised these? Look at me! I was left alone; _⌊where have these come from_⌋?"* ²² Thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! I will lift my hand up to the nations, and I will raise my signal to the peoples, and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.*

⁴ And since ancient times they have not heard, have not listened, no eye has seen a God except you; he _⌊acts_⌋* for the one who waits for him.

⁴¹ So those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand souls were added.

⁴ But many of those who listened to the message believed, and the number of the men was approximately five thousand.

²⁰ And when* they heard this,* they began to glorify* God. And they said to him, "You see, brother, how many ten thousands there are among the Jews who have believed, and they are all zealous adherents of the law.

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak about anything except that which Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed, ¹⁹ by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit,* so that from Jerusalem and traveling around as far as Illyricum I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. ²⁰ And so, having as my ambition to proclaim the gospel where Christ has not been named, in order that I will not build on the foundation belonging to someone else, ²¹ but just as it is written,
"Those to whom it was not announced concerning him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."*

⁹ But just as it is written,
"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and have not entered into the heart of man, all that* God has prepared for those who love him."*

¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for Yahweh? At the appointed time I will return to you _⌊in the spring_⌋* and Sarah shall have a son."

³ And they said to him, "Thus says Hezekiah: 'This day is a day of distress, rebuke, and disgrace, for children have come to the cervical opening, and there is no strength to give birth.

⁴³ Call for songs of joy, O nations, concerning his people,* for the blood of his servants he will avenge, _⌊and he will take reprisals against his foes_⌋,* and he will make atonement for his land, his people."

⁸ O Yahweh, I love the dwelling of your house,* and _⌊the place where your glory abides_⌋.*

How lovely are your dwelling places, O Yahweh of hosts! ² My soul longs and even fails for the courtyards of Yahweh. My heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God. ³ Even a bird finds a home, and a swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, near your altars, O Yahweh of hosts, my king and my God. ⁴ Blessed are those who dwell in your house;* they can ever praise you. Selah

⁶ Pray* for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at ease.

⁶ Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if do not I exalt Jerusalem above my highest joy.

²³ Sing for joy, heavens, for Yahweh has done it! Shout, depths of the earth! Break forth, mountains, in rejoicing, forest and every tree in it, for Yahweh has redeemed Jacob, and he will show his glory in Israel!

² to _⌊proclaim_⌋* the year of Yahweh's favor, and our God's day of vengeance, to comfort all those in mourning, ³ to _⌊give_⌋* for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And _⌊they will be called_⌋* oaks of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, to show his glory.

¹⁸ But rejoice and shout in exultation forever and ever over what I am about to create! For look! I am about to create Jerusalem as a source of rejoicing, and her people as a source of joy.

⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and you must place a mark on the foreheads of the men _⌊who are groaning and lamenting_⌋* about all of the detestable things _⌊that are being done_⌋* in the midst of her."

²⁰ Truly, truly I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will change to joy. ²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, experiences pain because her hour has come. But when her* child is born, she no longer remembers the affliction, on account of the joy that a human being has been born into the world. ²² So you also are experiencing sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you.

⁹ and that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, just as it is written,
"Because of this, I will praise you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praise to your name."* ¹⁰ And again it says,
"Rejoice, Gentiles, with his people."* ¹¹ And again,
"Praise the Lord, all the Gentiles, and let all the peoples praise him."* ¹² And again Isaiah says,
"The root of Jesse will come, even the one who rises to rule over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles will put their hope."*

³ And I will grant authority* to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for one thousand two hundred sixty days, dressed in sackcloth." ⁴ These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. ⁵ And if anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouth and consumes their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, in this way he must be killed. ⁶ These have the authority to shut the sky, so that _⌊it does not rain_⌋* during the days of their prophecy. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly! ¹⁵ And the seventh angel blew the trumpet, and there was a loud voice in heaven saying,
"The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign _⌊forever and ever_⌋*."

⁸ They are refreshed with the _⌊fullness_⌋* of your house,* and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

⁵ Then you shall see and you shall be radiant; and your heart shall tremble and open itself wide, because the abundance of the sea shall fall upon you; the wealth of the nations shall come to you.

¹⁶ And you shall suck the milk of nations, and suck the breast of kings, and you shall know that I am Yahweh your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Strong One of Jacob.

¹⁸ And it will happen on that day; the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk, and all the channels of Judah will flow with water. A spring from the house of Yahweh will come forth, and it will water the valley of Acacia Trees.*

² like newborn infants long for the unadulterated spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation,

³ Let the mountains yield prosperity* for the people, and the hills in righteousness. ⁴ May he provide justice for the poor of the people, save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor. ⁵ May he live long* _⌊while the sun endures_⌋* _⌊as long as the moon_⌋* _⌊for all generations_⌋.* ⁶ May he descend like rain on mown grass, like showers watering the earth. ⁷ May what is right blossom in his days and an abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

⁷ _⌊His dominion will grow continually, and to peace there will be no end_⌋* on* the throne of David and over* his kingdom, to establish it* and sustain it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.

¹⁴ Thus says Yahweh: "The acquisition of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush and the Sabeans, tall men, shall pass over to you; they shall be yours, and they shall walk behind you. They shall pass over in chains, and they shall bow down to you; they will pray to you: 'Surely God is with you, and there is no other. Besides him there is no God.'"

¹⁸ O that you had listened attentively to my commandments!
Then* your prosperity would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

¹⁹ Surely your sites of ruins and desolate places and land of ruins,*
surely now you will be _⌊too cramped for your_⌋* inhabitants,* and those who engulfed you will be far away. ²⁰ Yet the children _⌊born when you were bereaved_⌋* will say in your _⌊hearing_⌋,*
"The place is too cramped for me; _⌊make room_⌋* for me so that I can dwell." ²¹ Then* you will say in your heart,
"Who has borne me these?" And, "I was bereaved and barren, exiled and thrust away; so* who raised these? Look at me! I was left alone; _⌊where have these come from_⌋?"* ²² Thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! I will lift my hand up to the nations, and I will raise my signal to the peoples, and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.* ²³ And kings shall be your _⌊guardians_⌋,* and their queens your nurses. They shall bow down, _⌊faces_⌋* to the ground, to you, and they will lick up the dust of your feet. Then* you will know that I am Yahweh; those who await me shall not be ashamed.

³ for you will spread out to the right and to the left. And your descendants* will be heir to the nations, and they will inhabit desolate towns.

⁴ Lift up your eyes all around and see! All of them gather; they come to you. Your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be looked after on the hip. ⁵ Then you shall see and you shall be radiant; and your heart shall tremble and open itself wide, because the abundance of the sea shall fall upon you; the wealth of the nations shall come to you. ⁶ A multitude of camels shall cover you, the young male camels of Midian and Ephah. All those from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and frankincense, and they shall proclaim the praise of Yahweh. ⁷ All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered to you; the rams of Nebaioth shall serve you. They shall present a sacrifice for favor on my altar, and I will glorify _⌊my honorable house_⌋.* ⁸ Who are these? They fly like a cloud, and like doves to their coops. ⁹ Because the coastlands wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish are first to bring your children from afar, their silver and gold with them, for the name of Yahweh your God, and for the holy one of Israel, because he has glorified you. ¹⁰ And _⌊foreigners_⌋* shall build your walls, and their kings shall serve you, for in my anger I struck you, but* in my favor I have taken pity on you. ¹¹ And your gates shall continually be open, day and night they shall not be shut, to bring you the wealth of nations, and their kings shall be led. ¹² For the nation and the kingdom that will not serve you shall perish, and the nations shall be utterly devastated. ¹³ The glory of Lebanon shall come to you; the cypress, the plane, and the pine together, to glorify the place of my sanctuary, and I will do honor to the place of my feet. ¹⁴ And the children of those who oppressed you shall come to you bending low, and all those who treated you disrespectfully shall bow down at the soles of your feet. And they shall call you the city of Yahweh, Zion of the holy one of Israel.

⁶ But* you shall be called the priests of Yahweh, _⌊you will be called_⌋* servers of our God. You shall eat the wealth of the nations, and you shall boast in their riches.

¹¹ so that you may suck and be satisfied from her _⌊consoling breast_⌋,* so that you may drink deeply and refresh yourselves from her _⌊heavy breast_⌋."*

¹⁹ And I will set a sign among them, and I will send survivors from them to the nations: Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow; Tubal and Javan, the faraway coastlands that have not heard of my fame, and have not seen my glory.
And they shall declare my glory among the nations, ²⁰ and bring all your countrymen* from all the nations as an offering to Yahweh on horses and chariots* and in litters and on mules and camels, to* _⌊my holy mountain_⌋,* Jerusalem," says Yahweh, "just as the sons of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of Yahweh.

¹ "Comfort; comfort my people," says your God.

³ For Yahweh will comfort Zion; he will comfort all its sites of ruins. And he will _⌊make_⌋* its wilderness like Eden, and its desert like the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the _⌊sound_⌋* of song.

¹⁸ But rejoice and shout in exultation forever and ever over what I am about to create! For look! I am about to create Jerusalem as a source of rejoicing, and her people as a source of joy. ¹⁹ And I will shout in exultation over Jerusalem, and I will rejoice over my people, and the sound of weeping shall no longer be heard in it, or* the sound of a cry for help.

¹⁰ "Rejoice with Jerusalem and shout in exultation with her, all those who love her! Rejoice with her in joy, all those who mourn over her,

⁴ who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in all affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

⁷ _⌊Although we could have insisted on our own importance_⌋** as apostles of Christ, yet we became infants in your midst, like a nursing mother cherishes her own children.

⁹ For on the first day of the first month he began the journey from Babylonia; and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, for the good hand of his God was on him.

¹⁸ With the good hand of our God before us, they brought us a man of understanding from the sons of Mahli, son of Levi, son of Israel—Sherebiah and his sons and brothers, eighteen in total.

²² For I was ashamed to ask the king for troops and horses to protect us from enemies on the way because we said to the king, "the hand of our God is favorable to all who seek him, but his strength and anger are against all who forsake them."

³¹ On the twelfth day of the first month we set out from the river of Ahava to go to Jerusalem. The hand of our God was on us and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambushing on the way.

¹¹ And Yahweh will lead you continually, and satisfy your soul in a barren land, and he will strengthen your bones, and you shall be like a well-watered garden, and like a spring of water whose water does not fail.

¹² and I will remit you to the sword, and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter, because I called, but* you did not answer; I spoke, but* you did not listen, but* you did the evil in my eyes, and you chose that in which I do not delight." ¹³ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! My servants shall eat but* you, you shall be hungry. Look! My servants shall drink but* you, you shall be thirsty. Look! My servants shall rejoice but* you, you shall be ashamed. ¹⁴ Look! My servants shall shout _⌊for joy_⌋,* but* you, you shall cry out _⌊for pain_⌋* and howl _⌊for sadness_⌋.* ¹⁵ And you shall leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse, and the Lord Yahweh will kill you, and he will _⌊give_⌋* his servants another name. ¹⁶ Whoever blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of trustworthiness, and the one who swears an oath in the land shall swear by the God of trustworthiness, because the former troubles are forgotten, and they are hidden from my eyes.

¹ The hand of Yahweh was upon me, and he brought me by the Spirit of Yahweh, and he _⌊let me rest_⌋* in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones. ² And he led me _⌊all around_⌋* over them, and look, very many on the surface of the valley, and look, very dry. ³ And he said to me, "Son of man,* can these bones live?" And I said, "Lord Yahweh, you know." ⁴ And he said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and you must say to them, to the dry bones, 'Hear the word of Yahweh! ⁵ Thus says the Lord Yahweh to these bones: "Look! I am bringing into you breath, and you will live! ⁶ And I will lay on you sinews, and I will let flesh come upon you, and I will cover you over with skin, and I will put breath into you, and you will live, and you will know that I am Yahweh." '" ⁷ And I prophesied _⌊just as_⌋* I had been commanded, and there was a sound at my prophesying, and look! A rattling, and they came together—the bones! Bone to its bone! ⁸ And I looked, and indeed, sinews were on them, and flesh went up,* and skin covered over* them _⌊upward_⌋,* but breath was not in them. ⁹ And he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man,* and you must say to the breath, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh _⌊from the four winds_⌋,* "Come, O spirit and breath, on these dead ones, so that they may live!" '" ¹⁰ And I prophesied _⌊as_⌋* he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they became alive, and they stood on their feet, a very, very large group. ¹¹ And he said to me, "Son of man,* these bones are all of the house of Israel; look! they are saying, 'Our bones are dried up, and our hope is destroyed; _⌊we are cut off as far as we are concerned_⌋.'* ¹² Therefore prophesy, and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Look! I am opening your graves, and I will bring you up from your graves, my people, and I will bring you to the land of Israel! ¹³ And you will know that I am Yahweh when I open your graves when I bring you up from your graves, my people! ¹⁴ And I will put my breath into you so that you may live, and I will cause you to rest on your soil, and you will know that I, Yahweh, I have spoken, and I will act!" ' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh."

⁴ I will heal their disloyalty;* I will love them freely because my anger has turned back from them.* ⁵ I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like the lily plant, and he will strike his roots like the trees of Lebanon. ⁶ His new plant shoots will spread out; his splendor will be like the olive tree, and his scent like the trees of Lebanon. ⁷ _⌊They will again dwell_⌋* in my* shadow; they will grow grain and they will blossom like the plant vine; his fame will be like the wine of Lebanon. ⁸ O Ephraim, _⌊what have I to do_⌋* with idols? I myself have answered and looked after you.* I am like a luxuriant cypress; your fruit* comes from me.

⁷ And the people of Ephraim will be like a warrior, and their heart will be glad as with wine. And their children will see and rejoice; their heart will shout in exultation in Yahweh.

¹⁸ You will return and see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves God and the one who does not serve him.

²² So you also are experiencing sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you.

²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that is about to consume the adversaries.

⁶ He will rain coals* on the wicked. Burning sulfur and scorching wind will be the portion of their cup.

⁹ You will make them like your fiery furnace at the time of your appearance. Yahweh will swallow them in his wrath and fire will consume them.

³ Our God comes and he is not silent. Before him fire devours, and around him it is very tempestuous.

¹⁷ The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, with thousands doubled. The Lord is among them at Sinai, distinctive in victory.*

³ Fire goes before him, and devours his enemies round about.

²⁷ Look! The name of Yahweh comes from afar, burning with his anger and heaviness of cloud. His lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is like a devouring fire. ²⁸ And his breath is like an overflowing river; it reaches up to the neck to shake the nations with the sieve of worthlessness; and a bridle that leads astray is on the jawbones of the peoples.

³³ For Topheth has been prepared from yesterday; indeed, it is made ready for the king. He makes its pile of wood deep and wide; he makes fire and wood _⌊abundant_⌋.* The breath of Yahweh burns in it like a stream of sulfur.

³ For thus says Yahweh to the men* of Judah and to Jerusalem, "Break up for yourselves prepared virgin soil, and you must not sow among thornbushes.

⁴⁰ "And at the time of the end the king of the south will attack him, and the king of the north will storm against him with chariots* and with horsemen and with many ships, and he will advance against the countries and _⌊he will sweep through like a flood_⌋.*

⁴ This is what my Lord Yahweh showed me, and look, my Lord Yahweh was going to call for a legal case with fire, and it devoured the great deep and it ate up the plots of ground.

⁷ And the king was angry and sent his troops and* destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

⁶ since it is righteous in the sight of God to pay back those who are afflicting you with affliction, ⁷ and to you who are being afflicted, rest with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels, ⁸ with burning flame* giving punishment to those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, ⁹ who will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will disappear with a rushing noise, and the celestial bodies will be destroyed by* being burned up, and the earth and the deeds done on it will be disclosed. ¹¹ Because* all these things are being destroyed in this way, what sort of people must you be in holy behavior and godliness, ¹² while* waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by* being burned up and the celestial bodies will melt as they* are consumed by heat!

¹ On that day, Yahweh will punish with his cruel, great and strong sword Leviathan, the fleeing serpent, and Leviathan, the twisting serpent, and he will kill the sea monster that is in the sea.

³⁰ And Yahweh will cause the majesty of his voice to be heard, and he will cause the descent of his arm to be seen, in furious anger and a flame of devouring fire, with a cloudburst and a rainstorm and stones* of hail.

⁵ When my sword is drenched in the heavens,
look! It will descend upon Edom, and upon the people of my ban, for judgment. ⁶ _⌊Yahweh has a sword_⌋;*
it is full of blood. It is covered with* fat, with* the blood of lambs and goats, with* the fat of the kidneys of rams, for _⌊Yahweh has a sacrifice_⌋* in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Edom. ⁷ And wild oxen shall go down with them, and steers with strong bulls. And their land shall be drenched with* blood, and their soil shall be fattened with* fat. ⁸ For _⌊Yahweh has a day of vengeance_⌋,* a year of retribution for the strife of Zion. ⁹ And its streams shall be changed to pitch and its soil to sulfur, and its land shall become like burning pitch. ¹⁰ Night and day it shall not be quenched; its smoke shall go up forever. From generation to generation it shall be in ruins; forever and ever there will be no one who passes through her.

²¹ And I will call against him* in all of my mountains a sword,' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, 'And the sword of each person will be against his brother. ²² And I will execute justice with* him with a plague and with blood and _⌊torrents of rain_⌋,* and hailstones; fire and sulfur I will cause to fall on him and on his troops and on many peoples who are with him.

² and I will turn you around, and I will drag you along, and I will bring you up from the remote areas of the north, and I will bring you against the mountains of Israel, ³ and I will strike your bow from _⌊your left hand_⌋,* and your arrows from _⌊your right hand_⌋* I will cause to fall. ⁴ On the mountains of Israel you will fall, you and all of your troops, and the peoples who are with you, to birds* of prey, birds of every wing,* and animals of the field I will give you as food. ⁵ On the surface of the field you will fall, for _⌊I myself_⌋* have spoken," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ⁶ "And I will send fire against Magog and among the people inhabiting the coastlands _⌊in safety_⌋,* and they will know that I am Yahweh. ⁷ And _⌊my holy name_⌋* I will make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let the name of my holiness be profaned anymore, and the nations will know that I am Yahweh, the holy one in Israel. ⁸ Look! it is coming, and it will happen," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. "It is the day _⌊about which I have spoken_⌋.* ⁹ "ʻ"And the inhabitants of the towns* of Israel will go out, and they will set ablaze, and they will kindle a fire with a weapon* and a small shield and a shield,* with a bow and with arrows, and with _⌊hand clubs_⌋* and with spears,* and so they will light a fire with them, _⌊a fire lasting seven years_⌋.* ¹⁰ And they will not carry trees from the field, and they will not chop wood from the forests, for with the weapons* they will light a fire; and they will plunder those plundering them, and they will plunder those plundering them," ' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

¹¹ And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and the one seated on it was called "Faithful" and "True," and with justice* he judges and makes war. ¹² Now his eyes were a flame of fire, and on his head were many royal headbands having a name written that no one except he himself knows. ¹³ And he was dressed in an outer garment dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. ¹⁴ And the armies that are in heaven, dressed in clean, white fine linen, were following him on white horses. ¹⁵ And out of his mouth came a sharp sword, so that with it he could strike the nations. And he will shepherd them with an iron rod,* and he stomps the winepress of the wine of the furious wrath of God, the All-Powerful. ¹⁶ And he has a name written on his outer garment and on his thigh: "King of kings and Lord of lords." ¹⁷ And I saw one angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly _⌊directly overhead_⌋*,
"Come! Assemble for the great banquet of God, ¹⁸ in order that you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of military tribunes, and the flesh of the powerful, and the flesh of horses and those seated on them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, and small and great!" ¹⁹ And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war with the one who is seated on the horse and with his army. ²⁰ And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs before him, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who had worshiped his image. The two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur. ²¹ And the rest were killed by the sword of the one who is seated on the horse—the sword that comes out of his mouth—and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, 'These are the animals that you may eat from all the animals that are on the land: ³ Any among the animals that has a divided hoof and has a split cleft in* the hoof, such* you may eat. ⁴ However,* these* you may not eat from those that chew the cud and from those that have a* divided hoof: the camel, because it is a chewer of cud but it does not have a hoof that is divided—it is unclean for you; ⁵ and the coney, because it is a chewer of cud but it does not have a hoof that is divided—it is unclean for you; ⁶ and the hare, because it is a chewer of cud but it does not have a hoof that is divided—it is unclean for you; ⁷ and the pig, because it has a divided hoof and has a split cleft in* the hoof but it does not chew cud—it is unclean for you. ⁸ You must not eat from their meat, and you must not touch their dead body—they are unclean for you.

³ You shall not eat any detestable thing. ⁴ These are the animals you may eat: ox, _⌊sheep, goats_⌋,* ⁵ deer, gazelle, roebuck, wild goat, ibex, antelope, and mountain sheep. ⁶ And any animal having a split hoof* and so _⌊a dividing of the hoof into two parts_⌋* _⌊and that chews the cud_⌋* among the animals*—that animal you may eat. ⁷ Only these you may not eat from _⌊those chewing the cud_⌋* and from _⌊those having a division of the hoof_⌋:* the camel and the hare and the coney, because _⌊they chew the cud_⌋,* but they do not divide the hoof; they are therefore unclean for you. ⁸ And also the pig _⌊because it has a division of the hoof_⌋* _⌊but does not chew the cud_⌋;* it is unclean for you; from their meat you shall not eat, and you shall not touch their _⌊carcasses_⌋.*

²⁸ But the destruction of rebels and sinners shall be together, and those who forsake Yahweh will perish. ²⁹ For you* will be ashamed of the oaks in which you delighted, and you will be disgraced because of the gardens that you have chosen.

²¹ _⌊And then_⌋* many disasters and troubles will come upon them,* and this song will give evidence before them* as a witness, because it will not be forgotten from out of the mouth of their descendants,* for I know their* inclination that they* are having _⌊today_⌋* before I have brought them* into the land that I swore."

² "I know that you can do all things, and any scheme from you will not be thwarted.

² that your way may be known on the earth, your salvation among all nations.

¹¹ and let all kings bow down to him. Let all nations serve him.

¹⁷ May his name endure forever. May his name increase _⌊as long as the sun shines_⌋,* and let them be blessed in him. Let all nations call him blessed.

⁸ Rise up, O God, judge the earth, because you shall inherit* all the nations.

⁹ All the nations that you have made will come and bow down* before you, O Lord, and glorify your name.

² And it shall happen in the future of the days the mountain of the house* of Yahweh shall be established; it will be among the highest* of the mountains, and it shall be raised from the hills. All of the nations shall travel to him;

²⁸ And I know your sitting down and your going out, and your coming in, and your raging _⌊against_⌋* me.

¹⁰ " 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "_⌊And then_⌋* on that day, things* will come up on* your mind, and you will devise evil plans.

²¹ "And I will display my glory among the nations, and all of the nations will see my judgment that I have executed and my hand that I have laid upon them.

² I will gather all the nations, and I will bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat, and I will argue _⌊a case against them_⌋* there concerning my people and my inheritance Israel whom they have scattered among the nations, and my land that they have divided.

¹² For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are numerous, you foes of the righteous, those who take a bribe, and _⌊those who_⌋* push aside the poor ones in the gate!

⁴ And knowing* their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?

²⁵ But knowing their thoughts, he said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.

²² But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered and* said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?

⁴² but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.

²⁴ "Father, those whom you have given to me—I want that those also may be with me where I am, in order that they may see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

⁸ For I say, Christ has become a servant of the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God, in order to confirm the promises to the fathers,

²⁰ and again, "The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."*

⁴ among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they would not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus* as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for the sake of Jesus. ⁶ For God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness,"* is the one who has shined in our hearts for the enlightenment of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.*

¹² For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, both joints and marrow, and able to judge the reflections and thoughts of the heart.

² 'I know your works, and your labor and patient endurance, and that you are not able to tolerate evil, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you found them to be false.

⁹ 'I know your affliction and poverty (but you are rich), and the slander of those _⌊who call themselves Jews_⌋* and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

¹³ 'I know where you live, where the throne of Satan is. And you hold fast to my name and did not deny your* faith in me, even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan lives.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel blew the trumpet, and there was a loud voice in heaven saying,
"The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign _⌊forever and ever_⌋*."

² The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

⁴ And the sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

¹³ And Egypt fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim,

⁷ The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rhodanim.

¹¹ And Mizraim fathered the Ludim, the Anamim, the Lehabim, the Naphtuhim,

²⁴ Proclaim his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among the peoples!

¹⁰ Let the kings of Tarshish and the islands bring tribute. Let the kings of Sheba and Seba present gifts,

¹⁶ and against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the ships of desire.

¹⁰ And this shall happen on that day:
the nations shall inquire of the root of Jesse, which shall be standing as a signal to the peoples, and his resting place shall be glorious. ¹¹ And this shall happen on that day:
The Lord will again extend his hand a second time to acquire the remnant of his people that is left, from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the coastlands of the sea,

³ All you inhabitants of the world and dwellers of the earth, _⌊when a signal is raised on the_⌋* mountains, you must look, and _⌊when a trumpet is blown_⌋,* you must listen!

⁷ At that time, a gift* will be brought to Yahweh of hosts
from a _⌊tall_⌋* and _⌊smooth_⌋* people, and from a people feared near and far, a mighty, mighty and trampling nation, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of Yahweh of hosts, the mountain of Zion.

¹⁵ Therefore glorify Yahweh in the east, the name of Yahweh the God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea. ¹⁶ We hear songs from the _⌊edge_⌋* of the earth: "Glory to the righteous one!" But I say, "Ruin to me! Ruin to me! Woe to me! The treacherous ones deal treacherously, and the treacherous ones deal treacherously with treachery!"

²⁴ And those who err in spirit will _⌊acquire_⌋* understanding, and those who grumble will learn instruction.

⁴ He will not grow faint, and he will not be broken until he has established justice in the earth. And the coastlands wait for his teaching.

⁶ I will say to the north, 'Give!' and to the south, 'You must not withhold!' Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the end of the earth—

¹ Listen to me, coastlands, and listen attentively, peoples from far away! Yahweh called me from the womb; from the _⌊body_⌋* of my mother he made my name known.

¹² Look! These shall come from afar, And look! These from the north and from the west and these from the land of Sinim."

²² Thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! I will lift my hand up to the nations, and I will raise my signal to the peoples, and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.*

⁵ My righteousness is near; my salvation has gone out, and my arms will judge the peoples. The coastlands wait for me, and for my arm they wait.

¹⁵ so he shall sprinkle many nations; because of him, kings shall shut their mouths.* For they shall see what has not been told them, and they shall consider with full attention what they have not heard.

⁵ Look! You shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that does not know you shall run to you, because of Yahweh your God, and the holy one of Israel, for he has glorified you."

⁹ Because the coastlands wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish are first to bring your children from afar, their silver and gold with them, for the name of Yahweh your God, and for the holy one of Israel, because he has glorified you.

¹⁰ Pass through, pass through the gates! Make the way clear _⌊for_⌋* the people! Pile up, pile up the highway; clear it of stones!* Lift up an ensign over the peoples!

¹ "I let myself be sought by those who did not ask; I let myself be found by those who did not seek me. I said, 'Here I am; here I am!' to a nation that did not call on my name;

¹⁰ Persia and Lud and Put were _⌊among your soldiers_⌋;* small shield and helmet hung _⌊among you_⌋* and gave to you your adornment.

¹³ Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders; _⌊in exchange for people_⌋* and an object of bronze they gave you your wares.

⁵ Cush and Put and Lud and all of Arabia and Kub and the people* of the land of the treaty* with them—by the sword they will fall."

² "Son of man,* set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the head* leader of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him. ³ And you must say, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Look! I am against you, Gog, the head* leader of Meshach and Tubal,

¹ "And you, son of man,* prophesy against Gog, and you must say, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Look! I am against you Gog, the head* leader of Meshech and Tubal,

¹¹ Yahweh will be awesome against them, for he will destroy all the gods of the earth and all the lands* of the nations; each in its place will bow down to him.

¹¹ Therefore if you, although you* are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? ¹² Therefore in all things, whatever you want that people should do to you, thus also you do to them. For this is the law and the prophets.

¹⁹ Therefore, go* and* make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

¹⁵ And he said to them, "Go* into all the world and* preach the gospel to all creation.

³⁴ And Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, "Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed*—

¹ Therefore I say, God has not rejected his people, has he?* May it never be! For I also am an Israelite, from the descendants of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. ² God has not rejected his people, whom he foreknew! Or do you not know, in the passage about* Elijah, what the scripture says—how he appeals to God against Israel? ³ "Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have torn down your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life!"* ⁴ But what does the divine response say to him? "I have left for myself seven thousand people* who have not bent the knee to Baal."* ⁵ So in this way also at the present time, there is a remnant _⌊selected by grace_⌋*. ⁶ But if by grace, it is no longer by works, for otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

²¹ but just as it is written,
"Those to whom it was not announced concerning him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."*

⁸ To me, the least of all the saints, was given this grace: to proclaim the good news of the fathomless riches of Christ to the Gentiles,

⁹ They will not injure and they will not destroy on all of my _⌊holy mountain_⌋,* for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea.

¹² Look! These shall come from afar, And look! These from the north and from the west and these from the land of Sinim." ¹³ Sing for joy, heavens, and rejoice, earth! Mountains must break forth in rejoicing! For Yahweh has comforted his people, and he will take pity on his afflicted ones. ¹⁴ But* Zion said, "Yahweh has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me!" ¹⁵ Can a woman forget her suckling, refrain from having compassion on the child of her womb? Indeed, these may forget, but* I, I will not forget you! ¹⁶ Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. ¹⁷ Your children hasten; your destroyers and those who laid you waste depart* from you. ¹⁸ Lift your eyes up all around and see; all of them gather; they come to you. _⌊As surely as I live_⌋,* _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, surely you shall put on all of them like an ornament, and you shall bind them on like a bride. ¹⁹ Surely your sites of ruins and desolate places and land of ruins,*
surely now you will be _⌊too cramped for your_⌋* inhabitants,* and those who engulfed you will be far away. ²⁰ Yet the children _⌊born when you were bereaved_⌋* will say in your _⌊hearing_⌋,*
"The place is too cramped for me; _⌊make room_⌋* for me so that I can dwell." ²¹ Then* you will say in your heart,
"Who has borne me these?" And, "I was bereaved and barren, exiled and thrust away; so* who raised these? Look at me! I was left alone; _⌊where have these come from_⌋?"* ²² Thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! I will lift my hand up to the nations, and I will raise my signal to the peoples, and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.* ²³ And kings shall be your _⌊guardians_⌋,* and their queens your nurses. They shall bow down, _⌊faces_⌋* to the ground, to you, and they will lick up the dust of your feet. Then* you will know that I am Yahweh; those who await me shall not be ashamed. ²⁴ Can war-booty be taken from the mighty? or can a captive of a righteous* person be rescued? ²⁵ But thus says Yahweh:
"Indeed a captive of the mighty shall be taken, and the war-booty of the tyrant shall be rescued, for* I myself will dispute with your opponent, and I myself will save your children. ²⁶ And I will feed your oppressors their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their blood as with wine. Then* all flesh shall know that I am Yahweh, your savior and redeemer, the strong one of Jacob."

¹¹ Depart, depart, go out from there! You must not touch any unclean thing. Go out from the midst of it, keep clean, you who carry the vessels of Yahweh.

⁷ I will bring them to _⌊my holy mountain_⌋;* I will make them merry in my house of prayer. their burnt offerings and their sacrifices _⌊will be accepted_⌋* on my altar, for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples,"

³ And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the bright light of your sunrise.

¹¹ But* you _⌊who forsake_⌋* Yahweh, forgetting _⌊my holy mountain_⌋,* who set a table for Fortune, and who _⌊pour out_⌋* a jug of mixed wine for Destiny,

²⁵ The wolf and the lamb shall feed like one, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox, but* dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall do no evil, and they shall not destroy on all _⌊my holy mountain_⌋,"* says Yahweh.

¹ Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. ² And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.

¹⁶ with the result that I am a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving the gospel of God as a priest, in order that the offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁷ But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and rejoice with all of you.

⁵ And you yourselves, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

⁶ but you, you will belong to me as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you will speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋."*

¹⁸ "Say to the king and to the queen mother, '_⌊Take a lower seat_⌋,* for _⌊your beautiful crown_⌋* has come down from your head.'* ¹⁹ The towns of the Negev are shut up, and there is no one who opens them.* All of Judah is deported; it is deported in completeness. ²⁰ Lift up your eyes and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, _⌊your magnificent flock_⌋?* ²¹ What will you say when he sets over you— and you have taught them—allies as head over you? Will not labor pains take hold of you, like a woman giving birth? ²² And if you say in your heart, 'Why have these things happened to me?' Because of the greatness of your iniquity your skirts are uncovered; your heels have endured violence.

⁹ But you are a chosen race,* a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's possession, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light,

⁶ and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father—to him be the glory and the power _⌊forever and ever_⌋*. Amen.

¹⁰ and made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth."

⁶ Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection. Over this person the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand* years.

¹⁷ For look! I am about to create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered, and they shall not _⌊come to mind_⌋.*

²⁰ teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the age."

²⁷ My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. ²⁸ And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish _⌊forever_⌋,* and no one will seize them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them* to me, is greater than all, and no one can seize them* from the Father's hand.

²⁶ whose voice shook the earth at that time, but now he has promised, saying,
"Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also heaven."* ²⁷ Now the phrase "yet once more" indicates the removal of what is shaken, namely, things that have been created, in order that the things that are not shaken may remain. ²⁸ Therefore, since we* are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us be thankful, through which let us serve God acceptably, with awe and reverence.

⁴ into an inheritance imperishable and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you ⁵ who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time,

¹³ But according to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness resides.

¹ And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea did not exist any longer.

²³ And he said, "Why are you going to him today? It is neither the new moon nor the Sabbath!" And she said, "Peace."

² O you who hear prayer, to you all flesh will come.

³ Blow the horn at new moon, at full moon, for our feast day, ⁴ because it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

¹³ You must not _⌊continue_⌋* to bring offerings* of futility, incense—it is an abomination to me; new moon and Sabbath, the calling of a convocation— I cannot endure iniquity with solemn assembly. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed festivals my soul hates; they have become to me like a burden, I am not able to bear them.

²¹ And Yahweh will make himself known to Egypt, and Egypt will know Yahweh on that day, and they will worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows* to Yahweh, and they will fulfill them.

¹ Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "The gate of the inner courtyard facing east must be shut on* the six of the days for work, but on the day of the Sabbath it must be opened and on the day of the new moon it must be opened.

⁶ And on the day of the new moon he will offer a bull, _⌊a calf_⌋* without defect and six male lambs and a ram; they must be without defect.

²⁰ Thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'It will happen again that nations and the inhabitants of many cities will come. ²¹ And the inhabitants of one city will go to another city, saying, "Let us go immediately to entreat _⌊the favor of_⌋* Yahweh, to seek Yahweh of hosts—I also will go!" ²² And many peoples and powerful* nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat _⌊the favor of_⌋* Yahweh.' ²³ Thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'In those days ten men from _⌊all the nations of every language_⌋* will take hold of the hem of a Judean man,* saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you!" '"

¹⁴ And Judah also will fight at* Jerusalem. And the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—gold and silver, and garments _⌊in great abundance_⌋.*

¹⁶ _⌊And then_⌋* every survivor from all those nations coming against Jerusalem will go up year after year* to worship the king, Yahweh of hosts, and celebrate the Feast of Booths.*

²³ But an hour is coming—and now is here*—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for indeed the Father seeks such people to be his worshipers.

¹⁶ Therefore do not let anyone judge you with reference to eating or* drinking or participation in a feast or a new moon or a Sabbath, ¹⁷ which are a shadow of what is to come, but the reality is Christ.

⁴ Who would never fear, Lord, and glorify your name? For only you are holy, because all the nations* will come and worship before you, because your righteous deeds have been revealed."

¹⁰ The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ And people* will say, "Surely there is a _⌊reward_⌋* for the righteous. Surely there is a God who judges in the land."*

³¹ And the strong man shall become like tinder, and his work like a spark. And both of them shall burn together, and there is not one to quench them."

¹¹ Your pride is brought down to Sheol, and the sound of your harps; maggots* are spread out beneath you like a bed, and your covering is worms.*

¹⁰ Night and day it shall not be quenched; its smoke shall go up forever. From generation to generation it shall be in ruins; forever and ever there will be no one who passes through her.

¹⁵ And you shall leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse, and the Lord Yahweh will kill you, and he will _⌊give_⌋* his servants another name.

¹⁶ For Yahweh enters into judgment on all flesh with fire and his sword, and _⌊those slain by_⌋* Yahweh shall be many.

⁹ "ʻ"And the inhabitants of the towns* of Israel will go out, and they will set ablaze, and they will kindle a fire with a weapon* and a small shield and a shield,* with a bow and with arrows, and with _⌊hand clubs_⌋* and with spears,* and so they will light a fire with them, _⌊a fire lasting seven years_⌋.* ¹⁰ And they will not carry trees from the field, and they will not chop wood from the forests, for with the weapons* they will light a fire; and they will plunder those plundering them, and they will plunder those plundering them," ' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ¹¹ " '"_⌊And then_⌋* on that day I will give to Gog _⌊a grave there_⌋* in Israel, The Valley of the Travelers, east of the sea,* and it _⌊will block_⌋* the travelers and Gog and all of his hordes* they will bury there, and they will call it the Valley of _⌊Hamon-Gog_⌋.* ¹² And the house of Israel will bury them for seven months to cleanse the land. ¹³ All of the people of the land will bury them, and it will be an honor for them on the day when I appear," ' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ¹⁴ ʻ"And they will set apart _⌊men to continually_⌋* go through the land burying the travelers,* the ones left over on the surface of the land to cleanse it; _⌊for the whole of_⌋* seven months they will explore it. ¹⁵ And the ones going through, they will go through within the land, and if anyone sees the bones of a person, then he will build beside it a sign to remain until the buriers have buried him in the Valley of Hamon-Gog.* ¹⁶ And furthermore the name of the city there is Hamonah,* and thus they will cleanse the land." '

² And many from those sleeping _⌊in the dusty ground_⌋* will awake, some to _⌊everlasting life_⌋* and some to disgrace and _⌊everlasting contempt_⌋.*

¹² And this will be the plague with which Yahweh will strike all the peoples that fight against Jerusalem: their* flesh will rot while they* are standing on their* feet; their* eyes will rot in their sockets, and their* tongues* will rot in their mouths.*

¹⁸ And if the clan of Egypt will not go up and come in, on them will be that plague Yahweh inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. ¹⁹ This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

¹² His winnowing shovel is in his hand, and he will clean out his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the storehouse, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

⁴³ And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life crippled than, having two hands, to go into hell—into the unquenchable fire!*

⁴⁵ And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life lame than, having two feet, to be thrown into hell!*

⁴⁷ And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out! It is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than, having two eyes, to be thrown into hell, ⁴⁸ 'where their worm does not die and the fire is not extinguished.'* ⁴⁹ For everyone will be salted with fire.

¹⁰ he himself also will drink of the wine of the anger of God that has been mixed full strength in the cup of his wrath, and will be tortured with fire and sulphur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. ¹¹ And the smoke of their torture went up _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and those who worshiped the beast and his image did not have rest day and night, _⌊along with anyone who received_⌋* the mark of his name.

⁸ But as for the cowards and unbelievers and detestable persons and murderers and sexually immoral people and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their share is in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death.
