³ For Herod, after* arresting John, bound him and put him* in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip,

¹² Now when he* heard that John _⌊had been arrested_⌋,* he withdrew into Galilee.

² Now when* John* heard in prison the deeds of Christ, he sent word* by his disciples

¹⁷ For Herod himself had sent and* arrested John and bound him in prison because of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother, because he had married her.

¹⁹ So Herodias held a grudge against him and was wanting to kill him, and was not able to do so.

²² And when* the daughter of Herodias herself* came in and danced and pleased* Herod and _⌊his dinner guests_⌋,* the king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you want, and I will give it* to you."

¹⁹ But Herod the tetrarch, who had been reproved by him concerning Herodias, his brother's wife, and concerning all the evil deeds that Herod had done, ²⁰ added this also to them all: he also locked up John in prison.
