Just as Yahweh commanded Moses concerning the Levities, so they did to them. ²³ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁴ "This is what is for the Levites: _⌊those twenty-five years old_⌋* and above will* come to help with the service in the work of the tent of assembly; ²⁵ and _⌊those fifty years old_⌋* will* return from the service of the work and will serve no longer. ²⁶ They* can attend* their brothers in the tent of assembly to keep their responsibilities, but they* will not do work. This is what you will do concerning the Levities and their responsibilities."

¹ Then* Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ² "Command the _⌊Israelites_⌋* that* they should bring pure olive oil from beaten olives for the light to _⌊present_⌋* a lamp continually.

⁴ On the pure golden* lampstand he shall arrange for the lamps _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh continually.

¹⁰⁵ Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

¹³⁰ The unfolding of your words gives light, giving understanding to the simple.

²⁰ for teaching and for testimony?" _⌊surely they who speak like this have no dawn_⌋.*

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city located on top of a hill cannot be hidden,

⁹ The true light, who gives light to every person, was coming into the world.

¹⁹ and we possess as more reliable the prophetic word, to which you do well if you* pay attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,

¹² And I turned to see the voice which was speaking with me, and when I* turned, I saw seven gold lampstands,

²⁰ As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand and the seven gold lampstands—the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

⁵ And from the throne came out lightnings and sounds and thunders, and seven torches of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.

⁹ according to all that I show you—the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its equipment—and so you will do.

¹⁸ And you will make two cherubim of gold; you will make them of hammered work at the two ends of the atonement cover.

⁵ who serve a sketch and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned when he* was about to complete the tabernacle, for he says, "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern which was shown to you on the mountain."*

²³ Therefore it was necessary for the sketches of the things in heaven to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves to be purified with better sacrifices than these.

¹⁵ And he said to the people, "Be ready _⌊for the third day_⌋.* Do not go near to a woman."

¹¹ Depart, depart, go out from there! You must not touch any unclean thing. Go out from the midst of it, keep clean, you who carry the vessels of Yahweh.

¹ Therefore since we* have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of body and spirit, accomplishing holiness in the fear of God.

⁸ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded!

² Then Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Get rid of the foreign gods that are in your midst and purify yourselves and change your garments.

¹⁰ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. They must wash their clothes,

⁶ So* Moses brought Aaron and his sons near, and he washed them with water.

⁷ And he shall spatter the blood* seven times on the one who presents himself for cleansing from the infectious skin disease, and he shall declare him clean, and he shall send the living bird _⌊into the open field_⌋.* ⁸ Then* the one who presents himself for cleansing shall wash his garments, and he shall shave off all his hair, and he shall wash himself in the water; thus* he shall be clean, and afterward he shall enter the camp, but* he shall stay _⌊outside his tent_⌋* for seven days. ⁹ _⌊And then_⌋* on the seventh day he must shave off all his hair—he must shave his head and his beard and _⌊his eyebrows_⌋* and all the rest* of his hair—and he shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body in the water; thus* he shall be clean.

⁶ And the person who sits on the object upon which the person who discharges has sat must wash his garments, and he shall wash* himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.

¹⁰ And any person who touches anything that happened to be under him becomes unclean until the evening, and the person who carries them must wash his garments, and he shall wash himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening. ¹¹ And anyone whom the person who discharges might touch _⌊without_⌋* rinsing off his hands with water shall wash his garments, and he shall wash himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.

²⁷ And any person who touches them becomes unclean, and he shall wash his garments, and he shall wash himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.

²⁸ And the person who burns them shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body with water, and _⌊afterward_⌋* he must come to the camp.

⁷ The priest will wash his garments and his body in the water, and afterward he will come to the camp; the priest will be unclean until the evening. ⁸ The one who burns it will wash his garments and his body in water; he will be unclean until the evening. ⁹ A clean man will gather the ashes of the heifer, and he will put them in a clean _⌊place outside the camp_⌋;* it will be for the community of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* as a requirement for waters of impurity; it is a purification offering. ¹⁰ The one who gathers the ashes of the heifer will wash his garments; he will be unclean until evening. It will be an eternal decree for the _⌊Israelites_⌋* and for one who dwells as an alien in their midst.

¹³ Anyone who touches a corpse, the person of a human being who died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of Yahweh, and that person will be cut off from Israel because the waters of impurity were not sprinkled on him. He will still be unclean, and uncleanness is on him.

¹⁷ For the unclean person they will take* from the powder of the _⌊burnt purification offering_⌋,* and they will put* running water into a container. ¹⁸ A clean person will take hyssop and dip it into the water and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the objects and persons who were there, and on one who touched the bone, or the one slain, or the dead, or the burial site. ¹⁹ The clean person will spatter the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he will purify him, and he will wash his garments; he will bathe in the waters, and in the evening he will be clean.

²⁰ You will purify yourselves and every garment and every object of hide and all the work of goats' hair, and every object of wood."

² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and from my sin cleanse me.

⁷ Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

¹⁵ so he shall sprinkle many nations; because of him, kings shall shut their mouths.* For they shall see what has not been told them, and they shall consider with full attention what they have not heard.

¹⁴ Cleanse your heart from wickedness, O Jerusalem, so that you may be saved. _⌊How long_⌋* will your thoughts of mischief dwell in your inner part?

²⁵ And I will sprinkle on you pure water, and you will be clean from all of your uncleanness, and I will cleanse you from all of your idols.

²⁵ "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees—hypocrites!—because you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence! ²⁶ Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the dish,* so that the outside of it may become clean also.

¹⁰ concerning instead only food and drink and different washings, regulations of outward things imposed until the time of setting things right.

¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow sprinkled on those who are defiled sanctify them for the ritual purity of the flesh,

²¹ And* also, corresponding to this, baptism now saves you, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

¹⁴ And I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me,
"These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹ "And this is the thing that you will do for them to consecrate them to serve as a priest for me: Take _⌊one young bull_⌋* and two rams without defect

³ and you will put them on one basket, and you will bring them on the basket and bring the bull and the two rams.

³ If his offering is a burnt offering from the cattle,* then he must present* an unblemished male; he must present it at the door of the tent of assembly for his acceptance _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh.

¹ " 'When a person* brings a grain offering to Yahweh, his offering must be finely milled flour, and he must pour out oil on it and place frankincense on it.

³ if the anointed priest sins, _⌊bringing guilt on the people_⌋,* then,* concerning the sin that he has _⌊committed_⌋,* he shall bring _⌊a young bull_⌋* without defect for Yahweh as a sin offering.

¹⁴ when* the sin that they have _⌊committed_⌋* against that command* becomes known, the assembly* shall present _⌊a young bull_⌋* as a sin offering, and they shall bring it before the tent of assembly.

² "Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering and the two rams and the basket of the unleavened bread,

³ "Aaron must enter the sanctuary with this: _⌊a young bull_⌋* as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering.

⁸ When you prepare _⌊a bull_⌋* as a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or a fellowship offering for Yahweh, ⁹ you will present with _⌊the bull_⌋* a grain offering of three-tenths of finely milled flour mixed with half a liquid measure of oil, ¹⁰ and you will present half a liquid measure of wine as a libation, as an offering made by fire, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh.

¹⁰ Yet* Yahweh was pleased to crush him; he _⌊made him sick_⌋.* If she* places* his life a guilt offering,* he will see offspring. He will prolong days, and the will of Yahweh will succeed in his hand.

³ For what was impossible for the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did. By* sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

²¹ He made the one who did not know sin to be sin on our behalf, in order that we could become the righteousness of God in him.

⁴ And you will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of assembly, and you will wash them with water. ⁵ And you will take the garments and clothe Aaron with the tunic and the robe of the ephod, and you will fasten to him the ephod and the breast piece with the waistband of the ephod. ⁶ And you will set the turban on his head, and you will put the holy diadem on the turban. ⁷ And you will take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him. ⁸ And you will bring his sons and clothe them with tunics. ⁹ And you will gird Aaron and his sons with sashes and wrap headdresses on them. And priesthood will be theirs as a lasting rule, and _⌊you will ordain Aaron and his sons._⌋* ¹⁰ "And you will bring the bull before the tent of assembly, and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the bull. ¹¹ And you will slaughter the bull before Yahweh at the entrance of the tent of assembly. ¹² And you will take some of the blood of the bull and with your finger put it on the horns of the altar, and you will pour out all the blood at the base of the altar. ¹³ And you will take and turn into smoke on the altar all the fat covering the inner parts and the lobe on the liver and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them. ¹⁴ And the flesh of the bull and its skin and its offal you will burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering. ¹⁵ "And you will take the one ram, and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the ram. ¹⁶ And you will slaughter the ram and take its blood and sprinkle it on the altar all around. ¹⁷ And you will cut the ram into pieces and wash its inner parts, and you will put its legs with its pieces and with its head. ¹⁸ And you will turn into smoke on the altar all of the ram; it is a burnt offering for Yahweh; it is a smell of appeasement, an offering by fire for Yahweh. ¹⁹ "And you will take the second ram, and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the ram. ²⁰ And you will slaughter the ram and take some of its blood and put it on Aaron's right earlobe and on the right earlobe of his sons and on the thumb of their right hand and on _⌊the big toe_⌋* of their right foot, and you will sprinkle the blood at the base of the altar all around. ²¹ And you will take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and you will spatter it on Aaron and on his garments and on his sons and on his sons' garments with him, and he will be sacred, and his garments and his sons and his sons' garments with him. ²² And you will take from the ram the fat and the fat tail and the fat covering the inner parts and the lobe of the liver and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them and the right thigh, because it is the ram of ordination. ²³ "And one loaf of bread and one ring-shaped bread cake of oiled bread and one wafer from the basket of unleavened bread that is before Yahweh— ²⁴ you will put them all on the palms of Aaron and on the palms of his sons, and you will wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh. ²⁵ And you will take them from their hand and turn them to smoke on the altar beside the burnt offering as a fragrance of appeasement before Yahweh; it is an offering made by fire before Yahweh. ²⁶ "And you will take the breast section from the ram of ordination that is for Aaron, and you will wave it as a wave offering before Yahweh. It will be your portion. ²⁷ And you will consecrate the wave offering breast section and the thigh of the contribution that was waved and that was presented* from the ram of the ordination that is for Aaron and for his sons. ²⁸ And it will be for* Aaron and for his sons as a lasting rule from the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* because it is a contribution, and it will be a contribution from the _⌊Israelites_⌋* from their sacrifices of fellowship, their contribution to Yahweh. ²⁹ "And the holy garments that are for Aaron will be for his sons after him in which to anoint them and _⌊to ordain them_⌋.* ³⁰ Seven days the priest who replaces him from among his sons will wear them, who comes to the tent of assembly to serve in the sanctuary. ³¹ And you will take the ram of ordination and boil its meat in a holy place. ³² And Aaron and his sons will eat the meat of the ram and the bread that is in the basket at the entrance of the tent of assembly. ³³ And they will eat them—the things by which atonement was made for them to ordain them to consecrate them—and a stranger will not eat them because they are holy objects. ³⁴ If any remains until morning from the ordination meat or from the bread, you will burn the remainder in fire; it will not be eaten, because it is a holy object. ³⁵ And you will do so for Aaron and for his sons, according to all that I have commanded you; seven days you will ordain them. ³⁶ "And you will offer a bull for a sin offering every day for the atonement; and you will offer a sin offering on the altar* when you make atonement for it, and you will anoint it to consecrate it. ³⁷ Seven days you will make atonement for the altar, and you will consecrate it, and the altar will be _⌊a most holy thing_⌋.* _⌊Anyone who_⌋* touches the altar will be holy.

¹² And you will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of assembly, and you will wash them with the water.

³ and summon all of the community to the entrance to* the tent of assembly."

⁴ " 'He* must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering and it will be accepted* for him in order to make atonement for him.

⁴⁵ "Receive the Levites in the place of all the firstborn among the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and the animals of the Levites in the place of their animals; the Levites will be mine. I am Yahweh.

⁶ whom they stood before the apostles. And they prayed and* placed their* hands on them.

² And while* they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart now for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." ³ Then, after they* had fasted and prayed and placed their* hands on them, they sent them* away.

¹⁴ Do not neglect the gift that is in you, that was granted to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.

²² Lay hands on no one hastily, and do not participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

²⁴ you will put them all on the palms of Aaron and on the palms of his sons, and you will wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh.

³⁰ His own hands must bring Yahweh's offerings made by fire. He must bring the fat in addition to the breast section to wave the breast section as a wave offering before Yahweh,

²⁷ Then* he put _⌊all of these_⌋* on Aaron's palms and on his sons' palms, and he waved them as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh.

²⁹ Then* Moses took the breast section, and he waved it as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh from the ram of the consecration offering; it was Moses' share, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

⁴⁹ "You will not muster* the tribe of Levi, and you will not _⌊take a census of_⌋* them in the midst of the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ⁵⁰ You will _⌊appoint_⌋* them over the tabernacle of the testimony,* over all its vessels, and over all that belongs to it. They will carry the tabernacle and all its vessels, and they will care for it; and they will camp around the tabernacle. ⁵¹ And when the tabernacle is set out, the Levites will _⌊take it down_⌋,* and when encamping the tabernacle the Levites will set it up; the stranger* that approaches it will be put to death. ⁵² The _⌊Israelites_⌋* will encamp, each in their own camp, and each by their* own banner according to their divisions. ⁵³ But the Levites will encamp around the tabernacle of the testimony,* and there will not be wrath on the community of the _⌊Israelites_⌋;* and the Levites will keep the requirements of the tabernacle of the testimony."*

⁵ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ⁶ "Bring near the tribe of Levi, and _⌊set the tribe_⌋* _⌊before Aaron_⌋* the priest, and they will minister to him. ⁷ They shall observe his duties and the duties of the entire community before the tent of assembly, to do the work of the tabernacle. ⁸ And they will keep all the vessels of the tent of assembly and the responsibilities of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* to do the work* of the tabernacle. ⁹ You will give the Levites to Aaron and to his descendants; they are surely assigned to him from among the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ¹⁰ But you will count Aaron and his descendants; they will keep their priesthood, and the stranger* who approaches will be put to death." ¹¹ Yahweh spoke to Moses saying, ¹² "I myself receive the Levites from the midst of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* in the place of all the firstborn of the offspring of the womb from the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* The Levites will be mine ¹³ because all the firstborn are mine; on the day of my killing all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for myself all the firstborn in Israel, _⌊both humankind and animal_⌋;* they will be mine. I am Yahweh." ¹⁴ Yahweh spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, saying, ¹⁵ "Muster* the descendants of Levi according to _⌊their families_⌋,* according to their clans. You will count every male from _⌊one month_⌋* and above." ¹⁶ So Moses mustered* them according to the _⌊command of Yahweh_⌋,* just as he commanded. ¹⁷ These were the sons of Levi according to their names: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. ¹⁸ And these are the names of the sons of Gershon according to their clans: Libni and Shimei. ¹⁹ And the sons of Kohath according to their clans: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. ²⁰ The sons of Merari according to their tribes: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites according to _⌊their families_⌋.* ²¹ _⌊To Gershon belonged_⌋* the clan of the Libnites and the clan of the Shimeites; these are the clans of the Gershonites. ²² The _⌊ones counted_⌋* according to the number of every male from _⌊one month_⌋* and above were seven thousand five hundred. ²³ The clans of the Gershonites will camp behind the tabernacle to the west, ²⁴ and the leader of _⌊the family_⌋* of the Gershonites is Eliasaph son of Lael. ²⁵ And the responsibility of the descendants of Gershon in the tent of assembly is the tabernacle, and the tent covering it and the curtain of the doorway of the tent of the assembly, ²⁶ and the hangings of the courtyard and the curtain of the doorway of the courtyard that is around the tabernacle and the altar, and its ten cords, all of its use. ²⁷ _⌊To Kohath belonged_⌋* the clan of Amramites,* the clan of the Izharites,* the clan of the Hebronites,* and the clan of the Uzzielites;* these were the clans of the Kohathites.* ²⁸ According to the number of every male from _⌊one month_⌋* and above there were eight thousand six hundred keeping the responsibility of the sanctuary. ²⁹ The clan of the descendants of Kohath will encamp on the side of the tabernacle to the south. ³⁰ The leader of _⌊his family_⌋* according to the clans of the Kohathites* is Elizaphan the son of Uzziel. ³¹ Their responsibility was the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altar, and the vessels of the sanctuary, with which they ministered, and the curtain, and all of its use. ³² The _⌊chief of the leaders_⌋* of the Levites* was Eleazar son of Aaron the priest who had oversight of those keeping the responsibility of the sanctuary. ³³ _⌊To Merari belonged_⌋* the clan of Mahlites* and the clan of the Mushites:* these are the clans of Merari. ³⁴ The _⌊ones counted_⌋* according to the number of every male from _⌊one month_⌋* and above were six thousand two hundred. ³⁵ The leader of _⌊the family_⌋* according to the clans of Merari is Zuriel son of Abihail; they will encamp of the side of the tabernacle to the north. ³⁶ The responsibility of the sons of Merari was the supervision of the frames of the tabernacle, its bars, pillars, bases, and all its vessels and all its service, ³⁷ and the pillars around the courtyard, and their bases, pegs, and cords. ³⁸ Those encamped before the tabernacle to the east—before the tent of assembly to the east—were Moses and Aaron and his sons; they will keep the responsibility of the sanctuary _⌊for the Israelites_⌋;* and the stranger* who approaches will be put to death. ³⁹ All those counted from the Levites whom Moses and Aaron mustered* according to _⌊the word of Yahweh_⌋,* according to their clans, every male from _⌊one month_⌋* and above were twenty-two thousand. ⁴⁰ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Muster every firstborn male from the _⌊Israelites_⌋* from _⌊one month_⌋* and above and _⌊count_⌋* their names. ⁴¹ And you will receive the Levites for me—I am Yahweh—in the place of all the firstborn among the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and the animals* of the Levites in the place of all the firstborn among the animals* among the _⌊Israelites_⌋."* ⁴² So Moses mustered* all the firstborn among the _⌊Israelites_⌋* just as Yahweh commanded him. ⁴³ And all the firstborn males* among the number of names from _⌊one month_⌋* and above, the _⌊ones counted_⌋,* were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.

²⁰ The priest will wave them as a wave offering _⌊before the presence of_⌋* Yahweh; they* are a holy object to the priest, in addition to the breast section of the wave offering, and in addition to the upper thigh of the contribution; and afterward the Nazirite may drink wine.

¹⁰ "And you will bring the bull before the tent of assembly, and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the bull.

²⁰ He shall do* to the bull _⌊just as_⌋* he did to the sin offering's bull, so he must do to it. The priest* shall make atonement for them, and _⌊they will be forgiven_⌋.*

³⁵ He must remove* all of its fat _⌊just as_⌋* the lamb's fat from the fellowship offerings' sacrifice was removed, and the priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar upon Yahweh's offerings made by fire; and the priest shall make atonement for him because of* his sin that he _⌊committed_⌋,* and _⌊he will be forgiven_⌋.'"*

⁷ " 'If* _⌊he cannot afford a sheep_⌋,* he shall bring as his guilt offering for what he sinned two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋* for Yahweh, one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering.

⁹ and he shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the sin offering's blood on the altar's side, and the leftover blood must be drained out on the altar's base; it is a sin offering. ¹⁰ The second* bird he must prepare as a burnt offering according to the regulation, and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin that he has _⌊committed_⌋,* and he shall be forgiven.

¹⁴ Then* he brought forth the bull of the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the head of the bull of the sin offering,

¹⁸ Then* he brought the ram of the burnt offering near, and Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the ram's head,

³⁴ Just as was done* on this day, Yahweh commanded to be done* in order to make atonement for you.*

⁷ Then* Moses said to Aaron, "Approach* the altar and _⌊sacrifice_⌋* your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people. And _⌊sacrifice_⌋* the people's offering and make atonement for them, just as Yahweh has commanded."

¹⁹ Thus* the priest shall _⌊sacrifice_⌋* the sin offering, and he shall make atonement for the one who presents himself for cleansing from his uncleanness, and afterward he shall slaughter the burnt offering. ²⁰ Then* the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar, and the priest shall make atonement for him, and so he shall be clean.

²² and two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋* that _⌊he can afford_⌋,* and one shall be a sin offering and the _⌊other_⌋* a burnt offering.

⁶ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family.

¹¹ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family; then* he shall slaughter the sin offering's bull, which is for himself.

¹⁶ Thus* he shall make atonement for the sanctuary from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* impurities and from their transgressions for all their sins; and so he must do for the tent of assembly, which dwells with them in the midst of their impurities. ¹⁷ And _⌊no person_⌋* shall be in the tent of assembly when he enters to make atonement in the sanctuary until he comes out, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family and for all of Israel's assembly. ¹⁸ "Then* he shall go out to the altar that is _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and he shall make atonement for it; and he shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood and _⌊some of_⌋* the goat's blood, and he shall put it* all around on the altar's horns. ¹⁹ And he shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the blood on it seven times with his finger, and he shall cleanse it and consecrate* it from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* impurities.

²¹ And Aaron shall place his two hands on the living goat's head, and he shall confess over it all the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* iniquities and all their transgressions for all their sins, and he shall put them on the goat's head, and he shall send it* away into the desert _⌊with_⌋* a man standing ready.*

¹⁴ He will present his offering to Yahweh, one ram-lamb _⌊in its first year_⌋* without defect as a burnt offering, and one ewe-lamb _⌊in its first year_⌋* without defect as a sin offering, and one ram without defect as a fellowship offering;

¹⁶ The priest will present _⌊before Yahweh_⌋* and offer his sin offering, his burnt offering;

⁸ And they will take a _⌊young bull_⌋* and its grain offering of finely milled flour mixed with oil, and you will take a second _⌊young bull_⌋* as a sin offering.

²² Indeed, nearly everything is purified with blood according to the law, and apart from the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

⁴ For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, when he* came into the world, he said,
"Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but a body you prepared for me; ⁶ you did not delight in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sins. ⁷ Then I said, 'Behold, I have come— in the roll of the book it is written about me— to do your will, O God.' ⁸ When he says above,
"Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin you did not want, nor did you delight in,"*
which are offered according to the law, ⁹ then he has said,
"Behold, I have come to do your will."*
He takes away the first in order to establish the second, ¹⁰ by which will we are made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

¹¹ and _⌊Aaron will offer_⌋* the Levites as a wave offering _⌊before Yahweh_⌋* from the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and they will do the work of Yahweh.

²¹ And the Levites purified themselves, and they washed their garments, and _⌊Aaron offered them_⌋* as a wave offering _⌊before Yahweh_⌋;* and Aaron made atonement for them to purify them.

⁶ Look, I myself have chosen your brothers the Levites from the midst of the children. They are a gift to you given from Yahweh to perform the work of the tent of assembly.

¹ Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.

¹⁶ with the result that I am a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving the gospel of God as a priest, in order that the offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹² "I myself receive the Levites from the midst of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* in the place of all the firstborn of the offspring of the womb from the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* The Levites will be mine

² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋* and say to them, 'When a man or a woman takes a special vow, a vow of a _⌊Nazirite_⌋,* to keep separate for Yahweh,

¹⁷ For every firstborn among the _⌊Israelites_⌋* is mine, both humankind and animal. On the day I destroyed every firstborn in the land of Egypt I consecrated them to me,

⁹ Is it too little for you that the God of Israel set you apart from the community of Israel _⌊to allow you to approach him_⌋* to do the work of the tabernacle of Yahweh, to stand _⌊before_⌋* the community to serve them? ¹⁰ _⌊He has allowed you to approach him_⌋,* you with all your brothers, the descendants* of Levi, but yet you also seek the priesthood.

⁸ At that time Yahweh set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to stand _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, to serve him and to bless the people in his name until this day.

¹⁷ "They will be mine," says Yahweh of hosts, "on the day that I am acting, my treasured possession. I will have compassion on them as a man has compassion on his son who serves him.

¹ Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

¹⁵ But when the one who set me apart* from my mother's womb and called me by his grace was pleased

²⁶ For a high priest such as this indeed is fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and having become exalted above the heavens,

³ from _⌊thirty years old_⌋* and above, up to _⌊fifty years old_⌋,* everyone who comes to the service to do the work in the tent of assembly. ⁴ This is the work of the descendants* of Kohath in the tent of assembly, concerning the holiness of the sanctuary: ⁵ When setting out the camp, Aaron and his sons will go and lower the curtain of the covering and cover with it the ark of the testimony.* ⁶ They will put on it a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋,* and they will spread a cloth of perfect blue over it, and they will place its poles. ⁷ And over the table of the presence they will spread out a blue cloth and put on it the plates, dishes, and libation bowls, and the pitchers of the libation; and the bread of continuity will be on it. ⁸ They will spread over it a scarlet cloth, and they will cover it with a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋,* and they will place its poles. ⁹ They will take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand for the light source, its lamps, a pair of its tongs, its small pans, and all the vessels of its oil with which they attend to it. ¹⁰ They will put it and all its vessels inside a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋* and put it on the carrying frame. ¹¹ Over the altar of gold they will spread a blue cloth, and they will cover it with a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋* and place its poles. ¹² They will take all the vessels of the cultic service with which they serve in the sanctuary and put them on a blue cloth, and they will cover them with a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋;* and they will put them on the carrying frame. ¹³ They will remove the fat-soaked ashes from the altar and spread a purple cloth over it; ¹⁴ they will put on it all the vessels with which they serve, the fire pans, forks, shovels, and bowls—all the vessels of the altar. They will spread on it a covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋;* and they will place its poles. ¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the vessels of the sanctuary when the camp sets out, the descendants* of Kohath will come after to carry these, but they must not touch the sanctuary, or they will die. These are the load of the descendants* of Kohath in the tent of assembly. ¹⁶ "Eleazar son of Aaron the priest is to supervise the oil of the light source, the incense, _⌊the regular grain offering_⌋,* the oil of anointment, the supervision of all the tabernacle and all that is in it, in the sanctuary and in its vessels." ¹⁷ Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ¹⁸ "You must not cut off the tribe of the clan of the Kohathites* from the midst of the Levites. ¹⁹ Do this to them and they will live and not die when they come near the most holy things. Aaron and his sons will go and appoint them, each one to his task and burden. ²⁰ But they must not go and look _⌊for a moment_⌋* at the holy objects." ²¹ Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ²² "_⌊Take a census_⌋* of the descendants* of Gershon also, according to _⌊their families_⌋* and clans, ²³ from _⌊those twenty years old_⌋* and above until _⌊fifty years old_⌋;* you will muster* them, all who come to help to do the work of the tent of assembly. ²⁴ This is the work of the clans of the Gershonites:* to serve and to carry. ²⁵ They will carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the tent of assembly and its covering and the covering of _⌊fine leather_⌋,* which _⌊is on top of it_⌋,* and the curtain of the doorway of the tent of assembly, ²⁶ and the curtains of the courtyard, and the covering for the doorway of the gate of the courtyard, which is all around on the tabernacle and altar, and their cords and all the vessels of their work; and all that is done to them they will do. ²⁷ And all the work of the descendants* of the Gershonites* will be at _⌊the command_⌋* of Aaron and his sons, for all they are to carry and for all their work, and you will appoint to them responsibility for all they are to carry. ²⁸ This is the work of the clan of the descendants* of the Gershonites* in the tent of assembly, and their responsibility lies _⌊under the direction_⌋* of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest. ²⁹ "For the descendants* of Merari according to their clans, according to _⌊their families_⌋,* you will muster* them; ³⁰ from _⌊those thirty years old_⌋* and above until _⌊fifty years old_⌋;* you will muster* them, all who come to do the work of the tent of assembly. ³¹ And this is the responsibility of _⌊those who are to carry_⌋,* all their work in the tent of assembly: the frames of the tabernacle and its bars, pillars, and bases, ³² and the pillars of the courtyard all around, and their bases, pegs, and cords, with all their vessels and for all their work. You will appoint by name the vessels that they are responsible to carry.

¹³ And you will present the Levites _⌊before_⌋* Aaron and _⌊before_⌋* his sons, and he _⌊will offer_⌋* them as a wave offering to Yahweh.

¹ Now David was old and full of days. And he made Solomon his son king over Israel. ² And he assembled all the commanders of Israel and the priests and the Levites. ³ And the Levites thirty years old and above were counted, and their number according to their head count for the men was thirty-eight thousand. ⁴ Of these, David said, "Twenty-four thousand are to direct the work of the house of Yahweh, along with six thousand judges and officials, ⁵ four thousand gatekeepers, and four thousand offering praise with the instruments that I have made for praise." ⁶ And David organized them in divisions according to the sons of Levi: to Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. ⁷ For the Gershonites were Ladan and Shimei. ⁸ The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief and Zetham and Joel, three. ⁹ The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the _⌊families_⌋* of Ladan. ¹⁰ And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah; these four were the sons of Shimei. ¹¹ And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons. They were enrolled as one for the house of a father. ¹² The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four. ¹³ The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was set apart to consecrate the most holy things. He and his sons were to burn offerings forever before Yahweh to serve him and to bless in his name forever. ¹⁴ But Moses the man of God and his sons were reckoned among the tribe of Levi. ¹⁵ The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer. ¹⁶ The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief. ¹⁷ And the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah, the head. And Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many. ¹⁸ The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief. ¹⁹ The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. ²⁰ The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief and Isshiah the second. ²¹ The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish. ²² And Eleazar died, and he did not have sons, but only daughters. And the sons of Kish, their relatives, married them. ²³ The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth, three. ²⁴ These were the sons of Levi according to the house of their fathers, the heads of the _⌊families_⌋,* according to their enrollment, by the number of the names, according to their head count, who were to do the work of the service of the house of Yahweh, from twenty years old and above. ²⁵ For David said, "Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. ²⁶ And also, the Levites do not need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service." ²⁷ For by the last words of David, they are the number of the sons of Levi, from twenty years old and above. ²⁸ For their station was _⌊to assist_⌋* the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of Yahweh, over the courtyards, over the chambers, and over the cleansing of all the sanctified objects, and with the work of the service of the house of God, ²⁹ and with the rows of bread, the flour, the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baked offering, the offering mixed with oil, and for all the amounts and measurements. ³⁰ And they were to stand _⌊every morning_⌋,* thanking and praising Yahweh, and likewise in the evening, ³¹ and for every burnt offering offered to Yahweh, on Sabbaths, on new moon festivals, and at the appointed feasts, according to the customary number _⌊required of them_⌋,* regularly before Yahweh. ³² And they shall keep the responsibility of the tent of assembly,* the responsibility of the sanctified objects, and the responsibility of the sons of Aaron, their brothers, to serve the house of Yahweh.

¹ And David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who prophesied with stringed instruments, with harps, and with cymbals. And their inventory of the men of the work and for their duty was: ² for the sons of Asaph: Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah, sons of Asaph, under the hand* of Asaph, who prophesied under the hands* of the king. ³ Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah,* Heshabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands* of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the stringed instrument with thanksgiving and praise to Yahweh. ⁴ Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were sons to Heman, the seer of the king, according to the words of God to raise a horn.* And God had given to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. ⁶ All these were under the _⌊direction_⌋* of their father in the music of the house of Yahweh, with cymbals, harps, and stringed instruments for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the _⌊direction_⌋* of the king. ⁷ And their number, along with their brothers, trained singers, all the skilled people for Yahweh, were two hundred and eighty-eight. ⁸ And they cast lots for responsibilities _⌊on the principle of small and great alike_⌋,* teacher with student. ⁹ And the first lot for Asaph went out to Joseph; the second to Gedaliahu; he and his brothers and his twelve sons. ¹⁰ The third, Zakkur, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹¹ the fourth to Izri, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹² the fifth, Nethaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹³ the sixth, Bukkiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁴ the seventh, Jesarelah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁵ the eighth, Jeshaiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁶ the ninth, Mattaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁷ the tenth, Shimei, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁸ eleventh, Azarel, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁹ the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁰ to the thirteenth, Shubael, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²¹ to the fourteenth, Mattithiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²² to the fifteenth, to Jeremoth, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²³ to the sixteenth, to Hananiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁴ to the seventeenth, to Joshbekashah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁵ to the eighteenth, to Hanani, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁶ to the nineteenth, to Mallothi, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

⁹ You will give the Levites to Aaron and to his descendants; they are surely assigned to him from among the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

²⁹ _⌊And_⌋* in the middle of the night, Yahweh struck all of the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh sitting on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the prison house and every firstborn of an animal.

² "Consecrate to me every firstborn, the first offspring of every womb among the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* among humans* and among domestic animals;* _⌊it belongs to me_⌋."*

¹² you will hand over every first offspring of a womb to Yahweh, and every first offspring dropped by a domestic animal that will belong to you, the males will be for Yahweh. ¹³ And every first offspring of a donkey you will redeem with small livestock, and if you will not redeem it, then you will break its neck, and every firstborn human among your sons you will redeem. ¹⁴ And when your son asks you _⌊in the future_⌋,* saying, 'What is this?' you will say to him, 'With strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt, from a house of slaves. ¹⁵ And when Pharaoh was stubborn to release us, Yahweh killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from firstborn human to firstborn domestic animal. Therefore I am sacrificing to Yahweh every first offspring of a womb, the males, and every firstborn of my sons I redeem.'

⁴⁴ And I will consecrate the tent of assembly and the altar, and Aaron and his sons I will consecrate to serve as priests for me.

¹⁴ " 'And if a man consecrates his house as a holy object for Yahweh, then* the priest shall set a value on it, _⌊either good or bad_⌋;* just as the priest sets a value on it, so it shall remain. ¹⁵ But* if the one who consecrates it wants to redeem his house, then* he shall add a fifth of your proper value's money onto it, and it shall be his.

²⁶ " 'However, a man shall not consecrate a firstborn among livestock, which belongs as firstborn to Yahweh; whether an ox _⌊or_⌋* small livestock, it is for Yahweh.

¹³ because all the firstborn are mine; on the day of my killing all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for myself all the firstborn in Israel, _⌊both humankind and animal_⌋;* they will be mine. I am Yahweh."

⁵¹ And he struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the first of their virility in the tents of Ham.

³⁶ And he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the first of all their virility.

⁸ Who struck the firstborn of Egypt, both of humans* and animals.*

¹² And also my Sabbaths I gave to them to be a sign between me and between them _⌊so they would know_⌋* that I, Yahweh, am the one sanctifying them.

²³ (just as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male that opens the womb will be called holy to the Lord")*

³⁶ do you say about he whom the Father set apart and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?

¹⁹ And for them I sanctify myself, so that they themselves also may be sanctified in the truth.

²⁹ How much worse punishment do you think the person will be considered worthy of who treats with disdain the Son of God and who considers ordinary the blood of the covenant by which he was made holy and who insults the Spirit of grace?

²⁸ By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, in order that the one who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them.

¹⁸ By his* will he gave birth to us through the message of truth, so that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

⁵³ But the Levites will encamp around the tabernacle of the testimony,* and there will not be wrath on the community of the _⌊Israelites_⌋;* and the Levites will keep the requirements of the tabernacle of the testimony."*

⁶ "Bring near the tribe of Levi, and _⌊set the tribe_⌋* _⌊before Aaron_⌋* the priest, and they will minister to him. ⁷ They shall observe his duties and the duties of the entire community before the tent of assembly, to do the work of the tabernacle. ⁸ And they will keep all the vessels of the tent of assembly and the responsibilities of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* to do the work* of the tabernacle. ⁹ You will give the Levites to Aaron and to his descendants; they are surely assigned to him from among the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

⁴⁶ And Moses and Aaron said, "Take the censer, and put fire on it from the altar. Place incense on it, and bring it quickly to the community, and make atonement for them, because wrath went out from the presence of Yahweh, and a plague has begun."

² Moreover, bring your brothers with you, the tribe of Levi the tribe of your father, that they may be joined to you and minister to you, you and your sons with you before the tent of testimony. ³ They will keep your responsibility and the responsibility of all the tent, only they may not come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, so both you and they will not die. ⁴ They will be joined to you, and they will keep the responsibility of the tent of assembly for the entire service of the tent; a stranger may not come near you. ⁵ You will keep the responsibility of the sanctuary and the responsibility of the altar, and there will no longer be wrath on the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ⁶ Look, I myself have chosen your brothers the Levites from the midst of the children. They are a gift to you given from Yahweh to perform the work of the tent of assembly.

¹⁹ He* struck seventy men* among the men of Beth Shemesh because they looked into the ark of Yahweh. So the people mourned because Yahweh had struck a great blow among the people.

¹⁶ But on account of his strength his heart grew proud unto destruction. And he acted unfaithfully against Yahweh his God and went into the temple of Yahweh to offer an incense offering on the altar. ¹⁷ And Azariah the priest, along with eighty strong priests with him, went in after him. ¹⁸ And they stood against King Uzziah and said to him, "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Yahweh, but it is for the priests, the descendants* of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully. There will be no honor for you from Yahweh God." ¹⁹ Then Uzziah, his censer in hand to burn incense, became angry. And when he became angry with the priests, then leprosy appeared on his forehead in front of the priests in the house of Yahweh at the altar of incense. ²⁰ When Azariah the chief priest and all the priests turned to him, behold, he was leprous in the forehead. So they rushed him away from there, and he also hastened to go out, for Yahweh had smitten him.

¹¹ Then they will be* in my sanctuary, those serving in my sanctuary, as sentries* at the gates of the temple* and as those serving the temple;* they will slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they will stand _⌊before them_⌋* to serve them, ¹² _⌊because_⌋* they used to serve them _⌊before_⌋* their idols and they were for the house of Israel like a stumbling block of iniquity. Therefore _⌊I swore_⌋* concerning them," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, "that they will bear their iniquity. ¹³ And they shall not approach me to serve as a priest for me and to come near to all of* my holy objects, _⌊to the most holy objects_⌋, * and they will bear their disgrace and the results of their detestable things they have done. ¹⁴ And I will appoint them as the keepers of the responsibility of* the temple, for all of its work* and _⌊everything_⌋ *which will be done in it.

⁷ So you will do to them, to purify them: sprinkle on them waters of purification, and _⌊they will shave their whole body_⌋* and wash their garments.

¹¹ and _⌊Aaron will offer_⌋* the Levites as a wave offering _⌊before Yahweh_⌋* from the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and they will do the work of Yahweh. ¹² And the Levites will lay their hands on the head of the one bull and offer it as a sin offering and the other one as a burnt offering to Yahweh, to make atonement for the Levites. ¹³ And you will present the Levites _⌊before_⌋* Aaron and _⌊before_⌋* his sons, and he _⌊will offer_⌋* them as a wave offering to Yahweh.

¹⁵ And after this the Levites will come to serve at the tent of assembly, and you will purify them, and you _⌊will offer_⌋* them as a wave offering.

¹² He will purify himself on the third day, and on the seventh day he will be clean. If he does not purify himself on the third day, he will not be clean on the seventh day.

¹⁹ The clean person will spatter the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he will purify him, and he will wash his garments; he will bathe in the waters, and in the evening he will be clean.

¹⁵ And they slaughtered the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites were disgraced, so they consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings into the house of Yahweh. ¹⁶ Then they stood at their positions according to custom, according to the law of Moses the man of God. The priests were sprinkling the blood from the hand of the Levites. ¹⁷ For there were many in the assembly who did not consecrate themselves, so the Levites were over the killing of the Passover sacrifices for all who were not clean, to consecrate them to Yahweh.

²⁷ Then the priests and the Levites arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their prayer came to his holy dwelling place in the heavens.

² And Hezekiah appointed working groups of the priests and the Levites, each according to their divisions, _⌊according to the service for priests and Levites_⌋,* for burnt offerings, for peace offerings, to serve, to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camps of Yahweh.

⁸ And his officials contributed a freewill offering to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, commanders of the house of God, gave to the priests two thousand six hundred Passover lambs and three hundred bulls. ⁹ Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethanel his brothers, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jehozabad, commanders of the Levites, contributed to the Levites five thousand Passover lambs and five hundred bulls. ¹⁰ And when the work had been completed, the priests stood at their positions and the Levites in their working groups according to the command of the king. ¹¹ And they slaughtered the Passover lamb, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hand, and the Levites flayed the sacrifices. ¹² And they set aside the burnt offerings to give them to the clans of the _⌊families_⌋* for the _⌊lay people_⌋,* to offer to Yahweh according to what is written in the scroll of Moses. And thus they did with the bulls. ¹³ Then they roasted the Passover lamb in the fire according to the ordinance. And they boiled the holy offerings in pots, in kettles, and in dishes and brought it quickly to the _⌊lay people_⌋.* ¹⁴ And afterward they prepared for themselves and for the priests, since the priests, the descendants* of Aaron, were busy with offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night. So the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests, the descendants* of Aaron. ¹⁵ And the singers, the descendants* of Asaph, were at their stations according to the decree* of David and Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, the seer of the king. And the gatekeepers were at _⌊each gate_⌋.* They did not need to depart from their service, for their brothers the Levites had made preparations for them.

³ from _⌊thirty years old_⌋* and above, up to _⌊fifty years old_⌋,* everyone who comes to the service to do the work in the tent of assembly.

²³ from _⌊those twenty years old_⌋* and above until _⌊fifty years old_⌋;* you will muster* them, all who come to help to do the work of the tent of assembly.

³ And the Levites thirty years old and above were counted, and their number according to their head count for the men was thirty-eight thousand.

²⁴ These were the sons of Levi according to the house of their fathers, the heads of the _⌊families_⌋,* according to their enrollment, by the number of the names, according to their head count, who were to do the work of the service of the house of Yahweh, from twenty years old and above. ²⁵ For David said, "Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. ²⁶ And also, the Levites do not need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service." ²⁷ For by the last words of David, they are the number of the sons of Levi, from twenty years old and above.

¹² and the plan of all _⌊that he had in mind_⌋* for the courtyards of the house of Yahweh and for all the surrounding storage rooms, the treasuries of the house of God, and the treasuries for sanctified objects, ¹³ and for the working groups of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of Yahweh, and for all the vessels for the service of the house of Yahweh,

⁷ Who ever serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat the fruit of it? Who* shepherds a flock and does not drink* from the milk of the flock?

⁴ for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but powerful to God for the tearing down of fortresses, tearing down arguments

¹⁸ I am setting before you this instruction, Timothy my child, in accordance with the prophecies spoken long ago about you, in order that by them you may fight the good fight,

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

³ Suffer together with me as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. ⁴ No one who serves as a soldier is entangled in the activities of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him. ⁵ And also if anyone competes he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have completed the race, I have kept the faith.

³² The _⌊chief of the leaders_⌋* of the Levites* was Eleazar son of Aaron the priest who had oversight of those keeping the responsibility of the sanctuary.

⁴ They will be joined to you, and they will keep the responsibility of the tent of assembly for the entire service of the tent; a stranger may not come near you.

³⁰ From half of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* take one share drawn by lot from the fifty from the humans,* from the cattle, from the male donkeys, from the flock, from all the domestic animals,* and give them to the Levities who keep the responsibilities of the tabernacle of Yahweh."

³² And they shall keep the responsibility of the tent of assembly,* the responsibility of the sanctified objects, and the responsibility of the sons of Aaron, their brothers, to serve the house of Yahweh.

²⁰ And of the Levites: Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the sanctified objects. ²¹ The sons of Ladan: the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, the heads of the _⌊families_⌋* belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli. ²² The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of Yahweh. ²³ Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Ozzielites: ²⁴ Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was commander over the treasuries. ²⁵ And his brothers: from Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zikri his son, and Shelomoth his son. ²⁶ That Shelomoth and his brothers were over all the treasuries of the sanctified objects that King David and the heads of the _⌊families_⌋* to the commanders of thousands and hundreds and the commanders of the army had dedicated. ²⁷ From the battles and from the spoil they had dedicated these things to strengthen the house of Yahweh. ²⁸ And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated—all the dedicated gifts were under the hand of Shelomith and his brothers. ²⁹ For the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were appointed to the duties outside of Israel as officials and as judges.

⁸ And you did not observe the responsibility of my sanctuary, but* you appointed them* as the keepers of my responsibility in my sanctuary for you."

¹¹ Then they will be* in my sanctuary, those serving in my sanctuary, as sentries* at the gates of the temple* and as those serving the temple;* they will slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they will stand _⌊before them_⌋* to serve them,

¹⁵ Practice these things. Be diligent* in these things, in order that your progress may be evident to everyone.
